Putting aside the result and poor Harvey's incident. A positive note which went unnoticed.
Fabinho scoring on his first game back since his father passed.
Just beautiful 🙏🏻.

Had a great game all round as well, much deserved.

I thought Fab and Thiago were fantastic yesterday. Also special mention to Matip who has been rock solid now for 4 games and played a massive part in that first goal.

Despite many fears during the summer (nauseating level of screams about "Wijnaldum's replacement"), I think we are still quite good in midfield, with a rotation of Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago and Elliott. Okay, the Elliott experiment gets postponed until his recovery, but that leaves Ox, Keita, and Jones to provide the offensive kick Elliott was providing. My hope is that one of these three will standout, especially against the teams that matter. Until Elliott returns.

Agreed. Thought the midfield excellent yesterday. Gini was a ever ready type player for us and gave us some quality memories, but in my opinion we could cope without him with elliot coming through. Disaster for the lad, im really gutted. Time for keita or Jones to step up now. Hope the ox gets better in his new position. probably take time but hopefully he'll take the chance.

It’s interesting that Elliott got in ahead of the club captain yesterday even though Hendo is fit - looks like he may be considered the long term replacement for JH so let’s hope he recovers fully and kicks on!

Johnnyr1970. What you're describing is the quality of the manager that we have in Jurgen Klopp. He's able to leave the "all winning" captain and driving force, of the team, on the bench in favor of a youngster who provides the tactical and strategic imperatives Klopp wants on the field. Not to mention that it's clear in his head that the minutes of players like Hendo, Milner and Thiago will have to be managed all season long.

Hendo isn’t fully fit yet. That’s why he didn’t start.

Yesterday's performance (Elliott's injury aside) was brilliant. Leeds haven't won a game but they play with real intensity. So overall a great win. Not sure anyone noticed but Ox looked a little sluggish when he came on. Presumptuously like he didn't care. Any thoughts/ observations?

Gandalf, he has a newborn in the family. Maybe he's not getting enough sleep. 😉.

Ox looked a little bit like a trialist playing in a team that’s played together for years. He just looked lost and in the way. Hopefully he improves if given more opportunities there.

13 Sep 2021 22:50:23
Ox has barely played any football for the past year so not sure what people were expecting, really.

14 Sep 2021 10:19:41
Ox was available most of last season. The reason he didn’t play much was because Klopp didn’t select him. That tells the story.

14 Sep 2021 18:32:16
Oli I agree, he hasn't played much football in the last year and (joking aside) has had a little one which mist of us know is great fun. I just felt like he lacked motivation to work off the ball. My actual thoughts were that he was omaywd in a position he's not as comfortable with so he was lagging behind for that reason, thus curious on everyone else's observations.
