Thanks for the review on the game Ed001 mate, great insight as always. It did feel like the game got away from the team and it’s weird that they couldn’t react as you’d expect.

On a related note, what did you think Klopp meant when he said it’s like “bit by bit we lost another player, body language-wise. ”.

{Ed001's Note - I would think he means it was the way they were dropping off the press and not working so hard. It started off just the centre-backs, then the full-backs, then the midfield all gradually gave up pressing and then the forwards gave it up as there was no support and we ended up just standing off them and letting them play.}

Yup sounds about right. It’s weird isn’t it though that the players would somewhat retreat.

Do you think it would be better if the team didn’t start on the front foot so much? I mean from what I can see almost always, Klopp can sort out the team at half time when things aren’t quite 100% in the first half.

{Ed001's Note - it is not weird, it is just natural when put under pressure to drop off. The problem is that the modern centre-back rarely reads the game well, which is why they are so prone to balls over the top when holding high. The basics seem to be forgotten and they don't drop when there is no pressure on the ball. Then they get caught a few times, a goal goes in and they react by becoming cautious and dropping off too early. It would be better if players were taught the basics.}

Right I remember you mentioned this a lot of times; if there’s no pressure on the player with the ball, you should drop off, and vice versa.

Thanks as always mate!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome.}

Thanks for the insights Ed01. It’s obvious when you point it out but isn’t something I would necessarily pick up on.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome WDW.}

I would’ve played Matip all day. Intelligence > strength.
And he moves into midfield when they retreat to give us the extra man.
But the main problem we face this season will be squad quality and injures. That’s where we’ll fall short unless these guys stop getting injured.

{Ed001's Note - they didn't retreat that was the issue. They pushed 3 forward to peg the defence back.}

If you only wanted to play Matip then what was the point of signing Mr. Konate LFC8. Not playing Konate early on to develop a partnership with VVD is why we are struggling today.
One of the reasons we beat UTD was not playing nmatip. he is slower than a duck.

It's not entirely related to the game, but I just get annoyed sometimes when I read or hear Klopp talking in admiration about opposing managers and players. He just seems to be in total awe of a few other managers (like Potter) . I just hope he doesn't talk about them like that, with his players. It softens them up and would mess up their minds, I would think. I'd prefer if he had a bit of that "true warrior" nastiness that we say with Mourinho and Conte, and we see hints of from Tuchel. Klopp does have it in him, but it looks like he reserves it for journalists who ask manipulative questions, LOL. Maybe I'm just over thinking things.

Make your mind up shin pad - we are either poor because we play Robertson, or we are poor because we didn’t buy two central midfielders and an attacker in the summer transfer window or we are poor because Konate didn’t come straight into the team as soon as we bought him. I’m struggling to keep up mate - which one is it? I think the club needs to be told so we can get this sorted straight away.

01 Nov 2021 11:48:20
We are conceding goals coz our left-back is positionally out of his shoes and always plays an attacker onside, plus one of our center-back signed for £40 mill hasn't settled in yet thanks to not playing enough minutes.
The other notable reason for conceding gaols is that our central midfielders are letting people run straight at our center backs.

{Ed025's Note - thats very harsh KS, robbo has been one of your best performers over the past four years and because he is having a bit of a dip you want to ditch him?, i did not agree with him getting back in when tsimikas was playing well but he is still one hell of a full back mate, trust klopp i would advise...there is a rumour going around that he may know a bit more than you..

01 Nov 2021 12:25:22
Maybe if we had Digne or the other 19 better left backs than Robbo we'd have won, isn't that right ed025? ;)

But on a more serious note, Robbo hasn't been great for a while now. I think the toll both physically and mentally of playing practically every game for the past three and a half seasons has caught up with him. I too don't think we should've dropped Tsimikas when he stepped up earlier this season and Robbo's return hasn't made me change my mind. Of course, it's much easier said by us fans that Tsimikas should be in the team than it is for Klopp to sideline someone who's really established himself as the premier leftback and who's also a huge personality in the dressing room and a leader. But then again, making the hard decisions is Klopp's job, and when it comes to him, I'll trust him to do what's right.

Spot on, Ed25 and WDB. Keita’s shin pads, you seem to talk in extremes and it makes your arguments sound inconsistent. Robbo is having a poor run yet you went to one extreme saying that he was rubbish at Hull which is patently false. Then, you say we drew vs Brighton cos FSG did not sign the players you wanted whereas NONE of that is a true either cos we were killing it just last week with these very midfielders and even Konate, you are now saying are poor.

So did you have these thoughts when we were killing it just last week in all comps. or do you save these OTT remarks ONLY for whenever we don’t win? Try to tone down the incendiary rhetoric cos you don’t need that to make consistent arguments. Cheers, man.

As much as I love Klopp, he really need to fix his 'stubbornness' by starting to sub players as early as possible. He did sub player early in few matches, but in most occasions he didn't.

Second, he need to start replacing out of form player. Its obvious he is such a loyal manager, but I can't imagine what player like Tsimikas and Minamino feel when they perform well in 1 matches and then were ignored for the next 2 or 3 week.
