Ed002, I completely agree that we need to be selling players in order to buy to become more self sufficient, however the only player who’d command a large fee and has plenty of interest is Salah.

None of us want to lose him, it’s the last thing I want, but we all also know the squad needs refreshing.

The players you’ve mentioned who we’re interested; Diaz, Bowen, Bellingham, Bissouma etc. we can’t afford simply by selling Origi, Phillips, Neco Williams, Minamino, Ox, Keita and Mane.

Therefore we must be surely looking to some cheaper targets or we’re preparing to sell some major players of the squad?

Bit of a reality check is that selling Salah won’t get a huge fee. £50m maybe £60m at most, age and contract length count against him (there was a thing recently on the CIES Football Observatory website that gave valuations of players relative to their age, ability and remaining contract length and Salah was around the £60m mark), remember that he can simply refuse to go anyone we agree a fee with and leave on a free. The only player we could sell who would get serious money is TAA, as he’s young, English and has a long contract left.

But which club with money are in the market for a keeper? Not PSG, not City, not Madrid, not Bayern, not Chelsea. He may be worth a few quid, but only if there’s someone interested with money.
