Any comments on the recent rumour Ko Itakura Borussia Mönchengladbach CB being scouted by LFC recently? Can also play DM. Cheers and Happy New Year.

Injured.

2.) 06 Jan 2024 09:20:36
I think Liverpool will buy him, regardless of injury.

Sacha Tavolieri: Sources on the Romeo Lavia’s deal to LiverpoolFC feels reasonably confident as the talks are ON and will continue during the week. SouthamptonFC wants to get at least a fixed fee of 40M£ comparable to the buyback clause of Man City in 2024, what they would define as a good business. Five years contract ready.
A 2cd improved bid expected.

Destabilising player, tapping up, low balling, is this the Liverpool way?

We, fans, should not come crying when other clubs do the same to our players especially in this season when we are not in champions league.

What goes around comes around, karma is bitch.

2.) 26 Jul 2023 02:59:36
Evidence please! We're interested in signing him and have made an official bid. Anything else to the contrary right now is at best hearsay; at worst, slanderous/ libelous.

3.) 26 Jul 2023 06:19:53
@47, Leekuanyew is and has been always been a troll here. His main purpose has always been to rile others up here with half-truths and lies. It'd be best to just ignore his posts.

4.) 26 Jul 2023 06:22:29
47, let’s shut down the page then it’s all pointless, the hint is in the title, rumours. If you just want news try sky sports. Plus Angus literally names the source at the beginning of his post.

5.) 26 Jul 2023 06:27:24
@Leek Low balling? If LFC went ahead and paid the asking price straight away, fans would freak that we're paying too much. If we negotiate we are low balling. Can't win.

6.) 26 Jul 2023 07:24:02
I hope Liverpool ARE low-balling. Pretty poor negotiating if we just offer clubs the asking price straight away.

7.) 26 Jul 2023 08:49:02
This site is getting really bad for arguing and personal attacks. For all the hard work and good information from the Eds and the intelligent opinion of a small minority of fans there are another 50 just wantingvto bitch and jump on others opinions.

I have used the site for years and its being ruined by constant bickering. I'm done!

Good Luck Eds, you desevre better than the last few weeks!
and Thank you.

8.) 26 Jul 2023 08:55:22
I’m quietly confident of at least another midfield signing and if it transpires that Lavia doesn’t come off, then there are plenty of other options.

I’m no football agent nor an owner of a Prem football team, so I don’t know the complexities of players bought and sold. However, surely like any purchase or transaction, an offer is made and is either accepted or declined. If accepted, it’s generally perceived to be a good deal for both parties and the product is moved on. If declined, then the buyer either returns with another offer or decides that the price is too high and removes themselves from the purchase. Just because it’s football, surely the same theory is enforced. Money is money and the price is the price. You are either willing to meet the price or not. There will always be negotiations in any transaction like this due to the amount of money included. I bought a second hand car last year and the seller wanted £5600 and I paid £5000 after a cheeky offer. Only £600 less but both were happy!

9.) 26 Jul 2023 09:01:12
Just re-read this and think 47 may have been talking about leek, if that is the case apologies for aiming the post at you. I was half asleep and didn't read the full thread!

10.) 26 Jul 2023 09:18:17
Leek - that was possibly the weakest attempt at trolling ever. Must try harder.

11.) 26 Jul 2023 09:26:40
All we have done is bid. How else do you get a player signed.

12.) 26 Jul 2023 09:55:18
Let's be honest though, does feel a lot like the Van Dyk summer and aborted attempt.

13.) 26 Jul 2023 10:35:36
We have to remember Saints have Lavia signed up for another 4 years and Man City could buy him back at 40million next year and if Man City do not take up the buy back option they still get a 20% sell on clause.

Luckily Rodri is only 27 so City are not desperate to replace him.

It's no surprise that this deal will drag on as Saints have the upper hand as Lavia has not handed in a transfer request.

If the Saints can get decent money for Lavia, Ward Prowse and Livramento they will have a decent chance to come straight back up.

I think they will get this over the line with the inclusions of addons, a question for the Eds does addons get included into sell on clauses?

14.) 26 Jul 2023 10:26:52
Really? @Leek (rolling eyes tut tut tut)

15.) 26 Jul 2023 11:28:06
I think the buyback is a pretty important point here.

If Man City exercise that right next season - which, if he is as promising as most believe - seems quite likely, then Southampton will only receive 40M at maximum, albeit they will retain him for the season.

The question has to be the desire of the player to spend a season in the Championship. If he's decided that he wants to leave now, would Southampton really block that?

A point that Sacha Tavolieri made was that Southampton are open to discussions, so you'd have to think that they wouldn't.

I think a deal will be made, but I do think it'll be 40M, or a little more.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think you understand the terms of the "buy back" clause. You need to move on from all of this discussion about money.}}

16.) 26 Jul 2023 11:44:17
@beddoerocks unfortunately mate I don’t think it is just this site - everyone wants an opinion but their are many out there waiting to jump down people’s throats because there opinions aren’t the same as theirs - what would the world be like if everyone had the same opinion… every team in the world all just trying to sign one player because a collective opinion was that that was the best player in the world!

I really like this sign for the Ed’s input and it’s really appreciated, don’t let the minority of people get to you as if this sites lose “individuals” like yourselves the minority become the majority!

Thank you for all your input Ed’s it is greatly appreciated and it’s really sad you get stick at times!

17.) 26 Jul 2023 11:50:48
who is this troll? I never see leek on any of the other other.

18.) 26 Jul 2023 12:50:53
@WYred, it was in response to leek mate yeah - no worries though, I should have made it clearer who I was addressing.

19.) 27 Jul 2023 09:14:16
What’s this…. apologies, politeness, courtesy, all on the same thread. Quick someone go and tell Beddoerocks, that it’s all OK, he can come back in now, mummy and daddy have stopped fighting!

25 Jul 2023 16:01:09
Ornstein/ The Athletic also reporting now: Fabinho's Saudi transfer is in danger of collapsing despite both clubs remaining committed to the potential move.

AngusAntilles

1.) 25 Jul 2023 16:34:05
ps Fabinho to resume training with LFC on Wednesday unless there is a breakthrough on a deal. -Ornstein.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 16:49:13
Call me cynical but I wonder if this is a bit of briefing from the club. Just seems weird that news breaks about a Lavia bid around the same time this news comes out.

I could be wide of the mark but personally I think it will be announced as done once the club are in a good position with a replacement.

3.) 25 Jul 2023 17:24:12
This is all part of the dance!

4.) 25 Jul 2023 18:00:22
His dogs don’t want to leave ?.

5.) 25 Jul 2023 18:05:33
Sure. Nothing but part of the negotiation tango. LFC is basically saying "hey this is it, 37 Million, that's our offer. Otherwise, Fabinho starts training next week and you can risk not getting any offers after ours, or only 40 Million from ManC next summer (under the buyback cause) .

I suspect WYred is very much right. LFC wants to buy him. Southampton want to sell. Lavia wants to join LFC. No major hurdle, yet.

6.) 25 Jul 2023 18:18:44
Does Lavia have any pets and are there different hurdles to overcome between Hampshire and Merseyside?

7.) 25 Jul 2023 18:47:36
Why would this be part of the transfer dealings with southampton?

Like if the deal doesn’t happen we would have messed around two clubs and messed with the heads of two players, one of which was our own.

Maybe I’m being naive but that just seems stupid.

8.) 25 Jul 2023 18:38:40
Zed, bro. You need a change in breakfast contents because your recent attempts at humour, are really getting feeble. I'm really worried for you. ??.

9.) 25 Jul 2023 18:41:54
Wasn’t us pulling out of the Bellingham race all those months ago also part of the dance of us still signing him.

10.) 25 Jul 2023 18:54:41
@ wassa it’s basically a big game of poker mate don’t worry about it if Liverpool really want the lad they will get him they just have to convince saints inbto a lower price or pay what saints want .

11.) 25 Jul 2023 20:21:40
Ed002 stated earlier that there is no issue, I think the team are back in the uk training for a few days till they travel to Singapore so Fabinho who is still at home is joining in with training I bet like a lot of the youth players that are not going on the tour. But you know what they say 2+2= more clickbait for the athletic who seem to print more crap then anyone.

12.) 25 Jul 2023 22:15:20
Zed is the boss. No making fun of zed!

13.) 25 Jul 2023 22:44:38
Lavia has a parrot, a Macaw.
Hasn’t clipped its wings and takes it flying on an extendable tether.

14.) 25 Jul 2023 22:50:04
“Maybe I’m being naive but that just seems stupid. ”

Love this line Wassa ??.

15.) 26 Jul 2023 00:34:43
Or…. lfc have made their move for lavia. It’s been rejected. Therefore they cannot let fab go. They don’t need to sell him. There doesn’t seem to be any rush from other DMs to come so…. Fab stays.

16.) 26 Jul 2023 00:39:43
My mates cousin works in animal quarantine in Saudi Arabia and she told him that they just cancelled 2 cages that had been booked for 2 French bulldogs. Looks like he’s staying.

17.) 26 Jul 2023 08:21:31
Or, out of respect for Fab, he’s going to say good bye to the squad today? Imo.

18.) 26 Jul 2023 09:23:20
This talk of fabs dogs needs to stop, it is such a weird rumour and I think we are all barking up the wrong tree.

19.) 26 Jul 2023 13:35:08
It’s your typical tail wagging the dog imo.

25 Jul 2023 08:35:00
Some Lavia chatter this morning:
-sachatavolieri -LiverpoolFC finally starts the talks with Southampton for Romeo Lavia!
Belgian midfielder’s side just agreed on personal terms. These days, Romeo Lavia was waiting for the green light of LFC Board and was a little annoyed that it was dragging… It moved now! First official bid to be send soon by the Reds. I understand Reds wants to start with an offer close to 35M£…
-Florian Plettenberg Romeo Lavia: Understand that LFC is the top favorite now! Lavia wants to join Liverpool and has given the light! No agreement between the clubs yet but concrete negotiations are ongoing
His price valuation was around £50m. Klopp wants him!

AngusAntilles

1.) 25 Jul 2023 08:51:36
I doubt we've even made an offer yet. These twitter 'experts' have been repeating similar info for weeks. Only update I'm interested in is from the Eds and last note says no offer made yet. We'll see. We need to get moving. More worried no real links to a centre half.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 10:45:37
Liverpool have made no bids for Lavia at this time so anything being said on Twitter or anywhere else is just white noise, IMO.

3.) 25 Jul 2023 10:40:04
Plettenberg is decent. jesus other people do actually know stuff apart from the eds.

4.) 25 Jul 2023 11:52:11
I will only usually post rumors with green or yellow reliability mark per the Anfield Talk scale. This is a rumours site. Such negative "supporters" makes posting encourageable.

5.) 25 Jul 2023 12:20:34
Me ma reckons its done.

6.) 25 Jul 2023 12:44:04
AngusAntilles, I posted my opinion. If that makes me negative then, that's on you and no one else.

7.) 25 Jul 2023 13:55:15
Ben elf, if nanny plumb said it I'd believe you, not sure your ma is as reliable.

8.) 25 Jul 2023 14:57:52
Port red. how dare you.

9.) 25 Jul 2023 15:48:46
Oli, looks like we have bid. 37 million and been rejected. Just a matter of time now I reckon.

22 Jul 2023 23:47:08
Per Romano: Liverpool still in contact with Romeo Lavia agents, Chelsea keeping an eye on it.

AngusAntilles

1.) 23 Jul 2023 09:05:06
Wasn’t in the Southampton squad yesterday maybe he was in Blackpool.

2.) 23 Jul 2023 09:09:38
Acered, or Blackforest in Germany. maybe?

3.) 23 Jul 2023 09:45:40
Acered - he was. Played from 70th minute. He's done that every pre season game so far. Probably due to come back from an injury from the last game of the season.

4.) 23 Jul 2023 11:08:09
I hope Chelsea sign him. Give us a rest from reading about it every 2 seconds. Too overpriced anyway at £50mil and i hope we walk away at that price.

Interested to see what people's take is on Premier League clubs voting against the ban on loan deals between associated clubs? Seems very short sighted.

AngusAntilles

1.) 22 Nov 2023 21:20:30
I don't pretend to know the specifics. But, I'm imagining if I'm the owner of multiple clubs then I would want the flexibility to move players between clubs I own.

2.) 22 Nov 2023 22:20:23
It’s pretty much a rigged vote. Premier League rules say that to change anything there has to be at least 15 teams that vote in favour of the change.

In this case there were 13 clubs that voted to ban loans from associated clubs and 7 that didn’t and we all know who they were.

So almost 2 thirds of the league think it should be banned but because there are 7 teams in the league that could benefit from loaning players from associated clubs the vote was a non starter.

They should just go with the majority it would be a much fairer way of doing it but it takes some control away from the bigger clubs so they won’t do it that way.

If only David Cameron had the same idea then the whole Brexit debacle might have looked a lot different!

3.) 23 Nov 2023 06:20:16
Thems the breaks. Do all 7 of those clubs stand to benefit?

4.) 23 Nov 2023 08:00:18
PB you want the majority to be acknowledged in the EPL voting system. However you start harping on about Brexit when the majority WAS listened to!

5.) 23 Nov 2023 08:46:31
Surely it must be a case of ‘mystery men’ from Saudi ‘rigging the vote’? They, no doubt, promised to undermine Newcastle’s title challenge by taking half of their squad in January to bolster the four state owned teams in the Saudi League ?.

6.) 23 Nov 2023 08:24:17
Hypothetical question.

How is FFP affected by this scenario?

For example, Newcastle, cannot spend 100m on new players due to FFP rules.
The owners then buy some top players in their Saudi owned teams, and then loan those players to Newcastle.

Is that a level playing field for all teams?

All Hypothetical but I'd guess these types of scenarios could potential exist and since I'm no expert in FFP, I'm just asking if this could be seen as a loop hole.

7.) 23 Nov 2023 08:25:02
@BP, why does setting a certain number of clubs having to agree mean something is “rigged”?

8.) 23 Nov 2023 10:42:15
People are voting for/ against the initiative based on their individual best interests. People literally do that all the time when it comes to voting on initiatives. Where is this process rigged, exactly?

{Ed002's Note - Only one club is likely to be impacted by this and that is Newcastle, if they were looking to take players on loan from teams owned by the Saudi PIF. Other clubs could potentially be impacted, e.g. Crystal Palace, but that seems unlikely. It will have no impact on the majority of the clubs.}

9.) 23 Nov 2023 18:13:50
Check with the ed's, but I'm pretty sure they need 14 votes to make a change.

They were one vote short.

07 Sep 2023 15:00:36
Do you think a move for Andre in January is still possible?

AngusAntilles

1.) 07 Sep 2023 16:05:42
Why? We have already bought 4 new midfield players.

2.) 07 Sep 2023 16:52:02
Because its never enough :)

3.) 07 Sep 2023 18:15:04
Maybe to fill Thiagos spot next season?

4.) 07 Sep 2023 18:18:35
Taigo will leave in the summer.

5.) 07 Sep 2023 20:06:37
Given it’s almost a racing certainty that Matip will be on his way next summer I’d think that we would look to strengthen the defence as more of a priority. Also, there’s also the prospect of needing to look for a right sided forward either in January or next summer.

6.) 07 Sep 2023 20:18:27
Think it all depends on how our midfield develops. Lots of unknowns. Suitability (Endo), fitness (Jones Thiago) and how RG and SBaj fit in. Will the latter two play 6 or 8?. time will tell I suppose.

7.) 07 Sep 2023 20:41:22
Andre is gona be an amazing player for who ever is lucky enough to sign him hopefully it's us.

8.) 07 Sep 2023 21:06:41
I would say Andre as the long term Fabinho replacement no way Endo is that as he is a year older. I see Klopp mentioned Endo as the Milner replacement. So if he is as good as reports say I hope we bring him in in January then are midfield rebuild should be complete. I hope we don’t need a Matip replacement as I hope Quansah can be that and it is just the long term Virgil and Robertson we need to find. We will have to cross the Salah bridge when it comes.

9.) 07 Sep 2023 21:49:58
Szoboszlai could take the position of Salah and then a space in midfield would open up.

10.) 07 Sep 2023 22:14:27
I really do think Andre is a target signing for us most likely in January

Next summer I expect that Mo goes to Saudi and we will be looking at bringing in a couple of defenders including one maybe two centre backs.

11.) 07 Sep 2023 22:18:58
Quansah looks a great prospect could easily be Matips replacement.

12.) 08 Sep 2023 00:14:33
well we had 9 midfielders last year but not enough legs. I say we keep buying until we have enough legs on the pitch.

13.) 08 Sep 2023 06:13:31
Insania.

14.) 08 Sep 2023 09:20:57
Isn. ’t Bajcetic the likely long term successor to Fabs? You could argue that Endo was brought in to allow Baj to grow into the role over the next year or two.

17 Aug 2023 11:12:04
Endo most likely a Milner replacement and cover for 3 positions (DM, CM, CB) . Captain of Stuttgart and Japan. Was MOTM vs Croatia at World Cup in Qatar.

AngusAntilles

1.) 17 Aug 2023 11:40:34
Apparently he can play RB as well.

2.) 17 Aug 2023 13:28:01
And Sub.

17 Aug 2023 11:11:46
Do you think Schmadtke will not be retained at this point at SD? And what the plan would likely be if not? (internal, external for example).

AngusAntilles

1.) 17 Aug 2023 11:54:29
I'm not sure who was to blame over the Lavia/ caceido farce but I've not been impressed so far. let's see what he does in the remaining weeks. Would I like to see Michael Edwards back, yes? But I guess it all depends on the future of the club and what FSG do.

2.) 17 Aug 2023 12:22:26
Imagine calling for edwards to come back after he built an over-sized, ageing, often injured and overpaid squad.

3.) 17 Aug 2023 12:30:59
Think that was why he left faithinworks, that exactly what he didn’t want and Klopp did.

4.) 17 Aug 2023 12:59:54
From the outside looking in, I think he is in way way over his head. It could be he is just in the door and hasn't found his feet yet with a new team but who s fault is that? Who was in charge of appointing a Dof when we knew Ward was going? Why three month temporary contract to a guy who was not amongst the top choices. Why are the club dithering on recruitment as with the case of Lavia? Why did Ward leave so soon? And others from other positions? Why with two weeks left in the window we haven't recruited key positions at the outset of the window. Why did we bid one week, wait a week to bid again and another week to bid again for Lavia? Why did we get involved in Caicedo when he wanted Chelsea? I haven't seen bids accepted for players before and they did not go there before. Sure it happens but not often. Why did we not know they wouldn't come? And twice in the one window?

I'm not an insider. I don't have the answers to any of these questions. Could be a very unlucky window.

But if someone held a gun to my head to say what I was thinking, I would say we are an absolute mess behind the scenes .

On the plus side I'm very happy with Mac Allaister a and Szobozlai. Think Endo might be alright as a squad player. I like pace, especially for our DM and he does not look the quickest to me. Intelligence can make up for that though so let's see. Could be this season's suprise package. If we get a quality DM, I ll settle for that transfer window as a pretty good one although there will be a bit of disappointment we didn't add a CB. I think we are proper short there if injuries happen. Particularly with injuries almost a certainty with our group.

So without knowing all the answers to the why's I might be very unfair in this next comment but no. I would not extend schmadtke. I would kick him out the door as far as I could and get a world level operator in with a proven track record.

5.) 17 Aug 2023 13:18:21
I’d take that squad with the trophies they won.

6.) 17 Aug 2023 14:46:48
Spot on, Faith. People put this guy on some kind of fake pedestal as if he was working on his own and had nobody above him or did not work within the frame work the club had set.

Edwards was part of the problem. He is the one who gave big contracts to squad players like Naby and Ox and kept pricing players that needed to go like Markovic, Ox, Naby etc. out of moves when offers came for them. Edwards was very good for us and he made a lot of mistakes as well so if we are going to talk about his record, let's talk about all of it and not pick and choose to suit an agenda.

What we need is a full time DOF who will do the job and concentrate on working within the framework the club has set. These interim appointments do not bode well.

7.) 17 Aug 2023 14:50:27
I think he’s a stop gap signing which on the face of it is perfectly fine as it allows us to get the best out of MacAllister, Szobo and Gakpo. But I really want to see us push the boat out next summer and get two quality CB’s, a RB and high quality DM if we don’t get the latter this summer. There’s clearly money to spend.

8.) 17 Aug 2023 16:01:13
HRT1980, I think so as well and LFC is one club that does this type of deals over the passed 20 plus years as well. See Kyriakos, Gary Mac and Klavan. Signing Klavan for example did not stop is from going big on VVD. Nor will signing Endo stop us from getting the actual DM we want this summer or do the Andre deal in January, should that be our wish.

Endo by all accounts, is a stud in the Bundesliga at DM especially and is highly rated in that league, which is no slouch. that is what al the experts have said so I will defer to them. Really exciting to see what he can do for us moving forward.

9.) 17 Aug 2023 16:29:03
Did Klopp think he was resigning Hendo but missed the H off. Give the man a chance at the end of the day he will be wearing the red shirt. YNWA.

10.) 17 Aug 2023 17:05:35
Mr Bean utter rubbish. He left to take a year out. The fact that he has not taken another job since he left Liverpool is pretty conclusive evidence.

25 Jul 2023 13:35:48
Some good info on Lavia from Aaron Warburton.

Firstly, let's compare him to Fabinho,

On paper, they are remarkably similar players, their only difference being in more forward passes for Fabinho and Lavia having slightly more carries.

Lavias main strength over Fabinho is then his carrying of the ball

Looking at their respective progressive carries per 90,

Lavia: 0.89
Fabinho: 0.51

Lavia would carry the ball almost as much as Thiago did this season for Liverpool. (0.94 carries per 90)

With all this being said, the best way Liverpool can line up next season with Lavia would be by him slotting into the DM role behind their other two new midfield signings Szoboszlai and Mac Allister.

What does this tell us?

Lavia is a very good DM, someone who can effectively block both shots and passes, whilst also having good passing accuracy over medium ranges.

A bonus is that he doesn't lose many aerials, however, he doesn't win many either just 0.28 per 90.

These are the stats I have picked out, they tell us Lavia can be prone to yellow cards, if he was to play the full season that would be 13 yellow cards, definitely resulting in a match ban.

He also makes some errors and is dispossessed more frequently than other midfielders, however, these are his stats while at Southampton and so it's fair enough to assume at a much better team in Liverpool, he would do better here.

Overall
Lavia looks to be one of the best options for Liverpool. At just 19 he has great potential to be a key part of their midfield for years to come and could be another great piece to add to Klopps new-look midfield along with Mac Allister and Szoboszlai.

Cheers Angus.

Apparently first bid of 37 mill been turned down and Fab possibly reporting for pre season training tomorrow.

2.) 25 Jul 2023 17:52:37
Yeah did a cracking job for Southampton. lavia is below baj in my pecking order. Not saying he hasn't potential but so has baj.

How does he find time to put that info together with all the bread he has to bake?

{Ed025's Note - dont say that Bobby....he may get a cob on.. :)

He doesn’t loaf about does he, analytical with every slice of info. Appears to get to the grain of the matter without milling around.

{Ed025's Note - quality Kew..

Sacha Tavolieri Update on Lavia: We told you this morning that as official bid was expected soon… I understand now that a 1st bid has been sent as per David Ornstein around 35M£ but with a counter-offer made today by SouthamptonFC board of directors. LiverpoolFC wants to close the deal around 40M£ but SaintsFC wants more but conversations are really open as the aim’s to find the right deal.

I will only usually post rumors with green or yellow reliability mark per the Anfield Talk scale. This is a rumours site. Such negative "supporters" makes posting encourageable.

JK23, Although we have some good internal options (Jones, Harvey, Baj, etc for depth, I do not know one LFC supporter that thinks this window is done, especially after developments the last week. Hang in there mate, something should pop and having Ed002 say business is not over helps.
