For me, it has been a great season; we have had so many injuries to cope with, we have new players to bed in, we have had to put up with some of the worst refereeing i've ever seen and we've had some really bad VAR decisions.

We've had Jurgen put his notice in, we have also had backroom staff put in their notice, we have finished third in the champions league, we have the league cup and got to the quarterfinal of the fa cup and uefa cup. We also have some very exciting youngsters coming through, so how can some fans think it's an anticlimax?

Because we all moan about how City’s financial power makes them unassailable in the league, but in the Europa League WE were the Man City. Not one team in the competition this year has a playing budget that can compete with ours. We even got on the good side of the draw.

I can live with not winning the Premier League or FA Cup. City are favourites for them every year anyway. But the Europa league, we should at least have got to the final and that for me would’ve been the ultimate send off for Klopp, him winning the only trophy he failed to win at the club, in Dublin, on another famous European night. Instead he goes out in a dead rubber against Wolves. How is that not an anti climax? His last 3 games were effectively dead rubbers. That doesn’t do our season or Klopp’s tenure any justice at all. We’ve been more than that under Jürgen.

Objectively it’s not been a bad season at all, 3rd and a Cup. But come on mate, you’re lying to yourself if you really think this is the send off Klopp deserves. It’s also a little bit insulting towards what he’s achieved to think this is a befitting end for the greatest manager we’ve had for about 30 years. I wanted and expected more from this season.

Fans can think it was a great season and fans can think it was a poor season and everything in between. Everyone thinks differently.

I’m sure the owners, management and players will all have their own opinions on the season and those might very well be different as well.

I’d imagine Bradley will think it’s been the best season of his career whilst Salah will probably have another view for example.

Main thing now is signing off the big man with the reception he deserves.

The Europa League was nothing other than a massive disappointment.

I can cope with getting beat in a cup tie but that double wet fart of a performance was so un-Klopp like.

 5

19 May 2024 12:18:13
I think the way we completely fell away and imploded was extremely disappointing.

 3

19 May 2024 13:38:15
I agree wassa. It proved to me this squad isn’t ready for the champions league if it’s getting embarrassed at home by Atalanta.

{Ed025's Note - can we just leave all the negative stuff for another day guys?, this is a joyful day of celebration to pay homage to one of the best managers you or the premier league have ever seen, enjoy the day seize the moment and shed a tear or two if you want...let the moaning start tomorrow..cheers..

Interesting that Jurgen said the other day that the best game we have played in the time he’s been here was against City this season. I don’t think the season has been bad at all. I appreciate it has been something of a let down in terms of winning cups but even so, we have achieved more than Chelsea who will scrape into the European Thursday night Conference thing if they are lucky. Similarly Seven’s team or Eddie’ Newcastle. None of the three have won anything this season (and yes I know United are in the FA Cup final, but seriously) . Arsenal have won nothing. Tottenham have won nothing either. Our disappointing end to the season needs to be seen in context. Last August - on this very forum - people were very negative about our prospects. Now they are negative about us not winning more. League Cup winners and qualification for the Champions League is more than any of the clubs mentioned above have achieved.

Mk klopp was not the only one to miss out on one trophy mate shanks European cup, Paisey fa cup, fagan the old league 1 trophy it is disapointing mk mate but klopp is in there with some rather special managers mate and i for one am grateful for what he won for us his love for us and our love for him and i wish he could of won everything but it was not to be buddy . We are all give praise to Jurgen and rightly so but let's also give praise to his wife Ulla who told him Liverpool football club was the club for him . YNWA.

Ed025, you're an absolute diamond, and I fully appreciate you saying that, but some people should be a tad embarrassed that it took a blue to tell them like it is!

{Ed025's Note - cheers RP..

19 May 2024 14:27:32
Thank you Ed025 for that comment it shows your decency putting aside club.

 0

19 May 2024 15:37:18
Kudos Ed25. When one of your rival's fan say something like what you say, it says something about what a man and a manager Jurgen Klopp is. What a legend he is, Jurgen Klopp.

19 May 2024 09:56:06
It’s going to be a poignant day today. Thank you Jurgen for the belief, excitement, fun and memories you gave us. A great man, leader and icon and a true champion of the club and city.

YNWA, Jurgen Norbert Klopp.

Feels like your parents are getting divorced and your dads moving to Germany!

What a man. He’s give us everything to be fair. He looks about 20 years older than he did when he joined. He deserves a long rest and if, as he hinted, this was his final job in football then what a career it’s been. Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool are all in far better places than they were 25 years ago and he did that. Imagine having a Bill Shankly-esque impact on 3 different clubs.

The man is massive! City might win 4 in a row today. Arsenal might win their first title for 20 years. And all the media can talk about is a dead rubber against Wolves because Klopp’s signing off. That is the magnitude of respect the guy commands.

19 May 2024 13:20:49
One poster in Manchester United page said, Klopp's biggest achievement is restoring the identity and ethos. I couldn't agree more!

 1

19 May 2024 13:47:11
Agree with MK and Haizan. We will only be left with memories but at least they are good memories. You can’t ask for much more.

He probably didn’t win as much as our previous four great managers but had a task ten times harder than the Paisley, Fagan and The King. He put us back in the winners circle. Complete and utmost respect to the man. What memories ❤️.

 1

19 May 2024 13:55:17
Biggest achievement is being Premier League, European and World Champions at the same time 👏.

Tomorrow will be a bizarre day. I have been watching Liverpool for 20 odd years and I don't remember anyone leaving where there seemed such emotion tied to it. Gerrard did to an extent but not too this level. I think that’s because it was on the cards due to performance and age.

Even though it’s been announced for 3-4 months, it still seems such a shock.

His tenure is littered with moments that just the players names can bring back some terrific memories.

Lallana
Lovren
Origi (x at least three! )
Alisson
Salah

And the list could go on.

Klopp will be judged by other fans by his record, which maybe is light for the size of the club. But when you consider where we were, the long wait we were experiencing and the team we had. That’s before you put city in the equation which only time will show the impact of their charges.

The journey is one we will reminisce about for decades and hopefully his legacy will be the foundation he has laid for slot and future managers. Again only time will answer that.

But for now, we need to enjoy the last game, give the man the best send off possible and see where out future goes from here.

At the end of the day, we only feel this sadness due to the highs he has taken to and I can confirm I am now 100% a believer.

18 May 2024 20:04:22
I’m just grateful that he was our manager. He brought the pride back. But for 115 FC and their unique accounting methods, Klopp would have more titles, but that doesn’t throw shade on what he achieved, but for Klopp, 115 FC would be making it seem even more of a farmers league than it’s becoming.

18 May 2024 21:57:00
People look at trophies as the be all and end all.

We were dormant for years. Then Juergen came. Kaboom!

 6

18 May 2024 22:57:43
I’m quite cool about it, maybe because I’m older.

Probably Kenny leaving was the most shocking and disappointing move for me. No-one wanted him to leave, everyone was upset. Everyone understood his decision.

After that, nothing is quite as emotional.

Of course I’m grateful for Jurgen and will never forget his achievements, but he’s leaving at the right time.

 6

19 May 2024 00:21:57
Totally agree! Yeah if anyone think his achievements are light by comparing his to that golden era decades ago, ok I won't argue a single bit.

For me, I'm comparing his achievements to the era of H&G, so for me, he is a legend!

Good bye and thank you so much, Klopp.

 2

19 May 2024 01:05:01
The time is right because Klopp has said it is. He needs a break and he deserves one but time will tell how it will affect the club. It had to happen one day though.
Tomorrow will be emotional because he is an emotional and likeable bloke. I guarantee that he will get emotional and that affect a lot of us. He's been more than just a manager. He massively bought into this club and it was like we had a fan, no different to the rest of us, managing the club.
If he wasn't so likeable and good at his job tomorrow wouldn't be so difficult.
Anyway, I'll put my big boys pants on, gulp several times and chop some onions for tea just before the end of the game.

 1

19 May 2024 01:51:15
The best thing is that even though City will win the league tomorrow, no one will care because it will all be about Klopp. That will hurt pep’s fragile ego.

 4

19 May 2024 03:28:50
Agreed Ron.

Great post WY.

One of them for me, I'm gutted we're here but it was always going to happen wasn't it? I just hope we can continue doing well. I also hope Klopp can just enjoy life for a while and relax, he's put everything in - good luck to the legend he is. An incredible person and an incredible manager, one which will be talked about long after us lot are gone.

 5

19 May 2024 07:01:46
See I personally don’t get this trophy talk. Sometimes you have to look beyond that, especially when your competition has been the Man City juggernaut.

In 9 years Klopp took Liverpool to three champions league finals and won one.

Ferguson got to four in 27 years and won 2.

Wenger got to one champions league final in 22 years and lost.

Pep has only taken that monster of a City team to 2 finals and won one.

Also, Klopp finished second, twice, on more points than either Man Utd or Arsenal ever achieved under either of their legendary managers.

Yes, he could, potentially should, have won more trophies but he took a team that was nowhere, spent less than all his contemporaries and took that team from nowhere to win the lot.

19 May 2024 07:08:34
Shanks set the tone - he showed the fans the dream and brought it to life. He understood people and he was attuned to the city and the city took him to heart.

Great people followed him with King Kenny perhaps the most shining example. A brilliant footballer but much more a fine human being who did so much for the community, in times of horrendous adversity.

All the best keepers of the dreams have had the quality of understanding people, of empathy with them and an ability to inspire them and not just in a football sense.

Jurgen stands with the best of the ‘dream keepers’, a great footballing mind but far more a great human being too. As @WY said, we are sad because we will miss the joy he has brought us. Anything but the ‘normal one’.

Thank you Jurgen. You will be greatly missed but will always be remembered fondly.

19 May 2024 09:48:50
Guys as someone told me, "Do not be sad that it has ended. Be glad that it happened". From this point, I cannot see my LFC world without Klopp in it. It feels so weird now cos of how he has impacted me as a fan and personally, as a human being. Wometimes when I listen to him speak about footie, his ethos to it and life in general, I feel he is talking to me directly. Some of his quotes will stay with me forever. That's how much he impacted me, personally.

Therefore, I agree with the boys who say it's not all about the trophies even tho, they are great to have. Managers have won more than Klopp YET will NEVER be as impactful to the fan base, the city and the lives of it's people the way Klopp has an all 3 clubs he has managed. Imagine being reverred and loved to the bones at 3 diff. clubs, cities and fan bases as Klopp currently is. Wenger, Pep, Carlo, Jose, etc. will NEVER have this.

Klopp taught us a lot of things. He taught us to believe in ourselves again. To let the past go rather than carry it on our backs like we had been doing for 25 plus years. To dream big, Play big and WIN big. And when we got knocked down, Klopp taught us how to get back on that saddle and kept going and trying till we won again. This is Klopp's legacy, one that transcends football and trophies. This is what Klopp means to me.

But for now we celebrate you Jurgen, and your family esp. Queen Ulla herself, who was gracious enuff to share you with us for all these 9 years.

You will NEVER be forgotten.

18 May 2024 16:29:17
Tomorrow is going to be to be very, very emotional. So while i've got a lid on it, i want to say thank you Jurgen.

Thank you for some of the best times of my adult life. For making my dreams true and for giving me magical moments to share with my kids.

Thank you for giving it everything you had. For getting what this club means to us. For everything.

Enjoy whatever comes next, and to paraphrase the words of Mr Shankly: 'Jurgen, you're immortal now'.

18 May 2024 17:10:26
Great Post and I would like to add my thanks to Jurgen, you have been amazing.

 2

19 May 2024 09:50:00
Klopp impacted me not just as an LFC fan, but as a person. Some of his quotes about life and football will stay with me forever.

Danke, Jurgen!

Favourite klopp saying “Boom”.

19 May 2024 12:26:25
Fav Klopp moment: Saying f**king mentality monsters on BBC and Gary Lineker being told to apologise but refusing to and saying "Well done Jurgen. "

This is want Jurgen means to me.

When he joined Liverpool in October 2015 my partner was very poorly . But we would sit and watch Liverpool games together. It was a thing we did that gave her a little comfort . She would talk about this giant crazy German running all over the place on the touch line, she loved watching him and his reactions . A little over a year after I gained Jurgen as manager, I lost her as my partner . Shed died 07/ 10/ 2016 at the age of just 31 leavi g me and my then 7 year old boy. She never got to see all the triumph and trophies , she never got to see. corner taken quickly., well not from here, but she did from above.

All I can say dear Jurgen is thankyou. Thankyou and LFC for getting me and my boy, now 15, through the toughest time of our lives . Me and him would watch as trophies were lifted and look to the sky and smile. We truly never walked alone during these last 8 years since she went, as we had you and LFC . Tomorrow will be so hard for all LFC fans, but for me doubley so as it will be without her sat next to me. But I will be here at home with my boy watching the giant crazy German run up and down the touchline.

I remember you mate, I believe if I remember correctly you live in Hessle? around the corner from me. A great post mate. I hope life is treating you very well.

 5

18 May 2024 15:37:32
Not in Hessle Salah mate but West Hull . Im doing well my friend I hope you are too.

 2

18 May 2024 18:01:04
From a fellow Hessle resident - up the reds!

19 May 2024 00:13:02
That's a really touching post kimura, your angel has had the best seat in the house to see everything klopp achieved. Keep strong and living the good life for you and your son, YNWA.

 5

19 May 2024 01:15:22
Keep going, kimura, and always remember- at the end of the storm, there's a golden sky and you know the rest, mate.
You're right in what you said.
Football is a big part of our lives. It can create memories and impact our moods. We've had a great nine years and a manager that enjoyed it as much as us if not more so.

 2

19 May 2024 03:37:19
kimuraking, apologies mate, I must've got you mixed up with the other hessle fella :) . I'm glad you are doing well.

 1

19 May 2024 09:58:46
kimuraking. tdeh, I am in tears as I write this and my hands are shaking. I am so sorry for your loss and the predicament you and your fam were in when Klopp arrived. I know what it is like to lose a loved one via illness. The grief never ends however, it is always momentary and we are always comforted by those around us and the wonderful memories of those we have lost.

However, I can tell you that you are never alone because the ones we have lost are always with us and sometimes, a lot closer than you might think. Trust me on this.

Stay strong and remain blessed, my fellow red! You are loved and You Will Never Walk Alone, I can promise you that.

Mo Salah and Darwin nunez have been modelling the new training kits and home kit for Liverpool which you'd expect pictures of at the club store and stadium which would indicate both are staying, no sign of luis Diaz so maybe he's the one moving on?

 3

18 May 2024 10:34:26
I wouldn't mind him going if we replace him. He tries hard and works hard but he lacks the bits that really matter for his position.
Salah is Salah and next season is the crunch one for Nunez.
Of the other two, I like Jota as a cover player but he needs to be there most of all and I'm not sure about Gakpo yet. He underwhelms me but he probably deserves a chance under the new manager.
But they all for sale if the money is right 😂.

 3

18 May 2024 10:54:39
@Risby, hang on a minute mate, we’ve got to sell all our defence first!

 8

18 May 2024 11:18:04
I think Slotball will suit Diaz well.

He got a good tune out of his compatriot Sinisterra at Feyernood (before his move to Leeds) .

I think the wide players will be asked to do more and this will suit Diaz whereas it won’t suit Salah who has played more like a right forward for us under klopp.

Salah will either move centrally or be sold imo.

 5

18 May 2024 12:34:16
In fairness to Gakpo,16 goals this year despite been far from a guaranteed starter. Think he'll get better.

 12

18 May 2024 12:48:31
I think Diaz should be sold. But he’s not the only one. We need a champions league squad, it’s currently lacking quality and the likes of Jota, Konate, Jones etc these lads need moving on if they can’t stay fit, massive liabilities.
If Salah goes, we need goals.

 1

18 May 2024 13:28:02
If Diaz leaves then i wouldn't buy an attacker . Gakpo should play there . over the last 2 months he seems to have found some rhythm. looks more aggressive n works hard . jota can play anywhere along the front n Danns can be used aswel.

 2

18 May 2024 13:35:56
Simply reddd, Im not sure that's how cut and dry this is. Keep in mind that these kit photo shoots may have been done weeks or even months ago so not sure if this correlates with who is staying and who is going.

On a personal level, Darwin ain't going anywhere and Im not sure he is looking to leave that desperately either. Diaz and Salah rumours are there so we will see how things shake out.

Also, remember that with a new manager coming in and he may want to have a good look at these players and then decide and even then, not all the players you or I want to leave are going to leave in one summer cos at the end of the day, you still need a squad and players to fill it.

 0

18 May 2024 14:06:29
This is Klopps squad so the new manager is bound to want to come in and put his stamp on it.

No doubt there will be casualties to the squad over the next 3-4 windows.

Truth is though that this current squad will be a far better group of players than Slot has ever worked with.

 1

18 May 2024 14:53:11
I like the look of Danns but surely we need proven quality in the striking department?

 2

18 May 2024 17:09:55
Slot going to struggle li think, Nunez can’t hit a barn door and salah is shot. Fsg unlikely to provide what’s needed. Let’s not forget Klopp is a generational manager and he only won 1 pl, what’s slot going to do?

 1

18 May 2024 18:08:39
It's almost as if you want us to struggle Mr Bean🤔😁.

 0

18 May 2024 18:36:44
If the money is right then every player is “for sale”.

 1

18 May 2024 19:36:19
I understand a little what Bean is saying.

We often say that Klopp is the best manager in the world and only he could do what he did against Peps City.

Unfortunately we only bettered Pep once in the league and won the CL on that amazing night. But Klopp is leaving and a new man is coming in.

So either no other manager can do what Klopp did and it means we’ll continue to fall short or Slot needs to prove he can actually do better than what Klopp did.

I’m looking forward to seeing what Slot brings but I wouldn’t bet my house on it being a success.

Can we realistically expect a title challenge next season with a new man. As I’d imagine Trent, Salah and Vvd etc would want to be title challengers when it comes to discussing their new contracts.

 1

19 May 2024 01:28:43
WDW, I forgot about that, my apologies 😂.

Navy Keith, don't say Slotball, please.

Ron, I was talking about the front four. I wouldn't sell Salah unless we got a good offer and he wanted to go. I don't think he wants to go to the Saudi league. There are few players that I would class as not for sale. Alisson, van Dijk, TAA would be three and I wouldn't be courting offers for Salah.
If we can improve on Alisson, van Dijk and TAA, I'd sell they would be the hardest to replace, for me.

 0

19 May 2024 02:14:50
Mr Bean is a troll. Spent the better part of last season and this calling for Klopp to be sacked and now that he's going, he's suddenly a generational manager and we would struggle without him.

 0

19 May 2024 10:03:46
Exactly, Dracred and JN, it's his schtick. Notice that he got what he wanted cos Klopp wanted YET he can't come here and gloat cos it would open him up to all types of ridicule so now he (an many like him) have changed their tune.

Trust me, it is these types of people that will slate Darwin when he is in a bad batch BUT when he is having a better time of it (like whe he scored 9 in 11 this season), he is NOWHERE to be found to give him credit.

Notice how he is already setting Slot up so he can bash him when he begins to struggle? Again, it's his (their) schtick. .
