For his output, he earned way too much money from the club seemed to have the life of Riley and only play if he could be bothered. Decent player when he felt like it.

He was a good player on his day but will always be remembered for his injuries. His wages are huge so good to get him off the books I guess.

MK mentioned the term "cult hero" on the other page and I agree that it suits Matip better than "legend". A good player on his day and definitely gave his all for us throughout his time here even though it was blighted by injuries. Definitely one of the best free transfers we have ever made, almost up there with Milner.

For me he was best cb at the club rated him higher than virg . Reminded me of Hansen sometimes the way he would carry the ball out from the back. Also I Think the wheels wouldn’t have fell off if he had not got injured this season. He had an assist in the champions league final and did he also get the equaliser v city in charity shied? He is up there for me and moaning about wages, what’s that about? He earned the lucrative contract winning trophies. Love the guy gave me some great moments, brilliant player for us when he was available good luck Joel lad YNWA.

Matip was superb. When fit he was an outstanding player. People who say things like “when he felt like it” are absolute whoppers.
Genuinely excellent. For large periods of his time he was as good as if not better than the best centre half in the world. You lot need a word with yourselves.

His wages were only huge because we got him on a free transfer. Put the whole pacakage together and factor in all his injuries but also all the trophies, it was still a very worthwhile signing.

I'm only mucking about and I know what you mean. This possession style works better with a mario type in the team that can play out from the back. A bit lacking for pave when defending but mostly a very solid player. Shame he had a permanent twisted sock though!
