Hope Brighton do sign Sangare, that means Baleba to LFC, possibly far better potential and cheaper buy out clause. If Wharton is that good, why was he not in the England squad ahead of Henderson, for example.

Baleba has also played LB, that's the end of the Greek and two positions filled. Bajcetic will be kept on, Gomez to go, can't even manage one pre season game, he lets the club down every season now.

007, being in the England squad or not, would have zero impact on me wanting to sign a player. Trent, forensic, Palmer, among others, weren't in that squad. Would have the 3 of them in a heartbeat. And, wouldn't be rushing to sign many of the players that did go.
Also, Gomez has never let the club down.

His body has let him down. He has been part of the club for years, and was a massive part of many of our best teams. It may be time to let him go because they have tried and can't keep him fit. Or he might have felt a twinge and will be grand in a week or 2.

Not sure if you meant to cause a stir, 007 (no pun intended), but I don't agree with your comment about Gomez.
The bloke has tried to be available as much as his body allows. Whenever he's fit and available, he's never let the team or is down.
He'll be more annoyed than anyone else with how his career has gone after that terrible knee injury on international duty. He played a hell of a lot before that and was instrumental for us.

I can't see any PL club coming in for Gomez, he's a sick note full stop.

170 PL apps (Some of those come on as a sub). He was signed June 2015, 11 years, circa 17 games a season, plays half a PL season on average. He's the past not the future. Why do you feel sorry for him and not the club? Who have to pay him a big salary when he's not fit for half a season on average. I will always put the club first, not an individual player, LFC has always been bigger than any player past and the future.

Apparently, that's being exaggerated.

Still, last I heard is Liverpool reluctant to offer a substantial up-front payment.

Konsa is a great defender and has been very reliable for Villa. Not fair to write a player off based on a World Cup campaign playing for England.

On that basis, Palmer didn't even go, so he must be terrible?

The main downside to Konsa, I would think, would be Villa would want a large fee for him.

Konsa is 29 in a couple months time. If he was a top top player I'd have no problem paying the money that Villa would want. Probably around £80m. The fact is he is a good standard Premier League defender. He has never been looked at as top class. If we can’t identify a better option from all the players in Europe then I don’t know why pay DOF's and Technical directors.

Zabarnyi for me would be a much better buy. Don't see the point in signing players because they can stand in two different positions on a pitch if they are not top top at either of them. Also, this homegrown lark will never be a deciding factor for me on whether we sign a player, hear the same time wasting needless worry about this subject every summer.

FPF, we've got 11 senior HG players currently on the books (for EPL purposes): Woodman, Jaros, Bradley, Frimpong, Gomez, McConnell, Bajectic, Jones, Elliott, also Chambers and Beck are 22 also, so some will already have to be de-registered/sold.

CL is where the issue lies, as the youngsters will have to be registered unlike the EPL.

Lofty, technically you can pad out your squad with average HG players, but with the new rules it now bites you on the young foreign player visa slots if you don't have enough English qualified players getting starting minutes.



Based on last season's appearances, we only qualified for 1 out of 4 slots, meaning we'll have to send Iffy Ndukwe out on loan because he can't get a visa.

My take on that is Brazil had a midfield that was so past it they was never going to look good.

LFC ready to pay the money Monaco wants for Akliouche.

PSG has agreed personal terms with the player. He wants to play for PSG.

Monaco ready to accept LFC bid as it aligns with what they want in terms of money but PSG will probably improve their offer. Deal probably linked with negotiations tactics around Barcola.

They need to sell for at least another 100M€ after Bamba, Henrique and Ouattara sales. AS Monaco also needs to decrease player wages by 20% with Pogba, Dier, Golovin, ready to leave.

He is available for around 40-50M EUR, but the player changed agents and that complicated the negotiations with Newcastle. That's why they moved for Bamba. Several PL clubs are monitoring him, definitely one to watch, but I'm not sure we will move for him.

Not ITK in any way but as a negotiator of similar value deals in another very different business, I would have to say the scene looks set for a deal around or a little over £120M, approx halfway between LFC and PSG starting points.


Could be 100M basic plus 20 M add-ons?
We have to be realistic with Anderson and Rodgers setting the scene at just under 120M, no way could we expect anything less for Barcola...
Would PSG accept that...Let's see!

We don't need a back up to Rayan if we go for him. We would have Munoz, Rio, Barcola, Rayan, Chiesa plus youngsters and fringe players like Frimpong as wingers.

You need to give enough minutes to all of them to keep them sharp and firing.

First time poster so forgive me if I'm wrong, but hearing through Lyon sources that Liverpool are expected to submit a bid for Barcola within the next couple of days.
Expected to be around 90 million pounds but also expected to be rejected as PSG want around 120.

All part of negotiations, so this rejection doesn’t worry me. Thought I would share some info I get.

I think the price tag is getting a bit out of control. I know, 'not my money, blah blah blah,' but with such a price tag comes huge expectation. We've already seen Wirtz and Isak sinking under that expectation. We don't need another one. I think LFC needs to set a limit and for me the limit is £100m.
