One thing that’s been bugging me is how slowly we seem to start games. If I take the Madrid game as an example this is probably the biggest game for us this season yet the players just didn’t seem up for it until half time. You would thing that they would be almost in a frenzy at the start and not needing a kick up the arse. Klopp is a brilliant getting the best out of his players so this seems strange. What’s your thoughts?

You don't go crazy in the first half of the first leg of a Champions League tie against Madrid. that's not a good approach.

Was going to post the very same thing. We seem to sleep walk thru the first 20 mins of games and even worse, the last 5 minutes of the first half. Vs Everton, we don’t start well just like vs Madrid. While vs Chelsea, Fulham and now vs Villa, we go to sleep in the last 5 mins of the first half and get done.

Sometimes, you got to know when to shut up shop going into halftime and of you cannot score, you don’t give yourself any chance by conceding before halftime esp with our team still low in confidence.

We do need an early goal next week though to get into some rhythm and settle the nerves.

Tbh Madrid were too strong for us in midfield . once they dominated the midfield the game was over for us coz they easily tore our inexperience defender's. Think we need to tweak and buff our midfielders against them in 2nd leg.

Personally I think the whole game Liverpool play now is a lot more pedestrian. Maybe stats will show differently, maybe its a lack of atmosphere, I don't know but the players look a lot slower to react all over the pitch.

It's normal Rover mate . think we need to tweak our style abit. With the Rest, preseason and injuries we've had. It's difficult to play every game 200 a mile per hour. Thought getting Thiago was to tweak our system and play more possession based footy coz pressing, chasing, running, etc that's not he's game.

Longthing76, that would help but the better thing would be for our boys to set the tone from the off and stay concentrated in the final minutes of each half.
