Was screaming at the players this afternoon, whilst watching the game.
Firminho, Mane, Trent, Wynauldum.
" Why are you lifting your shots?
1) If the ball is in the air it is much easier for the keeper to save.
2) If you try for the bottom corner instead of the top corner, it definitely won't go over the bar".
Then Allison sticks that one in the top corner.
Wife says to me "Its a good job that he wasn't listening to you"
My reply "headers are different"
Maybe we should bring Michael Owen in as a finishing coach?

Agree0 Disagree0

Owen wasn’t a natural finisher. Fowler was by far a better finisher.

As Ed001 said a couple of weeks back, bring back Shankly's sweatbox.

{Ed0666's Note - they have one of them at the BDSM club Eds 001 goes to

Bring Fowler in for that, not Owen .

{Ed0666's Note - I agree Owen missed some real sitters

Fowler had instinct and natural ability, not something that can be taught, and probably not something he could teach either.
Much better to find a striker who couldn’t hit a barn door at first but learned how to be better if you want to bring someone in to teach how to finish.

Hey ed0666, I notice nobody's made reference to the BDSM clubs yet. Lots of uncomfortable shifting about maybe! As you seem to be in the know, is a sweatbox a room or something you wear ;)

{Ed0666's Note - you’ll have to ask Eds 001 when i let him out of my dungeon. Can’t get good gimps these days 😂

The things you’d learn of Fowler are when to take that early shot, the positions you adopt to maximise the chances of scoring, how to play off the shoulder of the defender, Owen only had pace, once that went there was nothing. And he’s as dull as a day out in Luton with Ole Gunnar Solskjear as your company.

Owen wasn't a natural finisher - hahahahahahahahahahaha.
Need to read no more after that.

I do agree with the poster above that, if we are going to get a finishing coach, its much better to get someone who had to work on finishing (and succeeded) rather than a natural finisher.

Harking back to a post a few days ago about ex-players who have had to work at their craft potentially making better managers than the naturals, its a similar issue.

Ask God how he puts it into the top left corner with his back to goal and a defender on him, he'll likely say "I just did" whereas a player who's had to practise this day in day out to get to be anywhere near as good as God will be (likely) better able to explain the mechanics.

Of course there will be exceptions - naturally gifted players who also understand the mechanics and make excellent coaches or managers (King Kenny, Cryuff etc) and God may be one of them, but it may be better to pick someone who's had to work on it.
