Does anyone think there is anything in the Dembele rumours?

Now being reported they would take a low fee in January, rather than lose him for free in the summer. If he can stay fit he'd be a good addition in my opinion. If it was true there was some possibility for January then this would be ideal with AFCON.

Also with the move to Chelsea not working out, could we go back in for Saul next summer?

Both top additions in my opinion and could still be great signings for us for years to come. Potentially much lower fees for both under circumstances.

Plus who do people think will leave in January? I can see Phillips leaving but unlikely any others unless players come in.

Why would we sign a player to cover for the African cup of nations? What is it like 2-3 prem games?

No on both. Dembele is injury prone; he has shown very little in his years at Barca. And Saul Niguez has not done any good to either his reputation or his market value at Chelsea, thus far. Perhaps too soon to judge on him, but I wouldn't touch unless it's a bargain price. I'm perfectly happy with Fabs, Hendo and Thiago, so who does he replace; spend 40-50 Million for a bench warmer? Not at the present time.

Ed02 said a while ago that we are looking at Dembele for this summer cos he will be out of contract then if he does not sign a new deal. That is all I know. As for covering for the AFCON, that literally makes no sense to me at any level.

Now whether he is good enuff IMO, he is not and I would stay the heck away from such player and character.

Fingers crossed we get Bobby and Jones back before too long, maybe even Elliot in the New Year. I think you have to judge who/ what we might need then. If, and it’s a big if, we can get an allowance for Mo and Mane to join their countries late it puts a whole different complexion on the situation. Panic buying? I think not.
