Ed001 there seems to be loads of reports coming out today that Alonso is leaning towards Bayern.
I hope it's not true I do find it strange that he would let that out with what is going on in the league over there.
I must admit Ed I can't think of one manager I would like if we didn't get Alonso when Klopp made his announcement I thought Alonso would be great and the timing seemed perfect.
I don't get all the talk comparing us to when Fergy left because even if they had just won the league there team was at its end all over the pitch.
I just hope if we don't get Alonso is not De Zerbri.

{Ed001's Note - I think the talk of him having decided to go to Bayern is mischief-making to try and unsettle Leverkusen right now. It really doesn't make any sense to go there imo.}

I’m with you Ed. There’s the obvious reason that he’d basically become a Leverkusen legend by winning the league then stick two fingers up at them and join their biggest rivals for the title next season. Why would he do that?

Also if he goes to Bayern he basically has to win the league next season. Nothing else would be acceptable.

I think he’d get more time at Liverpool as he’s up against City, nobody would expect him to win the league straight away. He could put his mark on the players, the club and the fans in a way that just would not be afforded to him at Bayern.

Plus he wouldn’t be spitting in Leverkusen’s face by joining their biggest rival.

I don’t know Alonso so I have no idea what he’s thinking but I think he’ll either join Liverpool or stay where he is and possibly join Madrid after Ancelotti. I’d be massively surprised if he goes to Bayern.

Do you see him staying at Leverkusen for another year Ed1? He doesn't seem to be someone who rush to new opportunities if he doesn't think he is ready for it. If I'm not mistaken he did stay at Sociedad B longer even when he got offer from Germany because he didn't think he is ready for it.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think there is anything more he can really hope to achieve there if he wins the Bundesliga though, so it seems a bit pointless to stay there.}

Looking at it from xabis point of view and taking off my lfc glasses I do believe lfc would be his best move and should go this summer.
There negatives as well to going to lfc, following klopp impossible task for anybody, link he has between himself and fans wo t be replicated by next man whoever he is.
He will have much smaller budget than his rivals and lfc at this stage expect to be competing toe to toe with our rivals regardless of budget.
I still think he will go to us as ed1 has said above I don't really see what way it can go in Germany next season only down, I presume best players of leverkusan will be picked off by other teams as generally happens a team like leverkusan.
If he wins next 5 bundisligas with bayern it still won't match winning 1 with leverkusan.
At lfc he will see that he has excellent group of players 19-25,just at right age who he could build team around. If he turns down lfc whoever next manager is, if he gets it right, could be here 10 years, xabi chance may have passed him at lfc.

For me it would be a very odd choice to go to Bayern. They are currently Leverkusen's main rivals and whilst I know he would love to manage Bayern at some point you would like to think that he has more respect for Leverkusen than to jump ship directly to their main rival.

I said the exact same thing multiple times already. Bayern do this all the time when they get desperate and are playing catch-up in a title race that they know they will more than likely lose. I pay no attention to the clickbait nonsense esp. coming from German media sympathetic to Bayern's cause. Nothing to see here, me thinks.
