Just wondering if any Dr's or know-how medical people in here? I'm unfortunately not and was wondering if you tear your ACL can you still walk and things on it? Might be clutching at straws but jus kinda hoping tje vvd injury ain't as bad, here hoping anyway.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not a doctor but I slept at a holiday inn (fellow Yanks will get that bad joke) . Yes you can walk with a torn ACL sadly. there have been many cases in sports of which a player tears his knee, walks off gimpy only to hear the dreaded news. simply stated, walking off doesn't mean he is okay. now Thiago though. I don't believe one could still play, make cuts, sprint, etc if a ligament was torn so his prognosis has to be better.

I am just hoping this doesn't derail our entire season. The last couple of games have been awful for entirely different reasons.

It's frustrating having to read this 'season over' stuff.

Let's all just give up an wave the white flag because someone's injured shall we?

I understand VVD is a very important player but I find it embarrassing.

The season has just begun an there is all to play for with or without VVD. If he's out for a substantial period of time we need to find solutions. Whether that's Fabinho becoming a CB, Van Den Berg or Koumetio stepping in or Tsimikas becoming a makeshift CB I have no idea.

It's not ideal but I'm not prepared to just give up on the season.

Maybe we go old school an just try and outscore teams? 😂.

I am a doc! Yes you can. but depends on the amount of tear. also whether any other structure is also torn or Fractured.

If we’re going to go old school and out score teams hopefully Bobby finds his scoring boots. 1 goal in last 20 premier league games and 3 goals in 2020 needs improving on. Yes I know he drops deep but I’m sure Robbo plays deeper at left back and he has 3 plus goals in open play in 2020.

Yes you can walk after an ACL I damaged mine and walk afterwards. I am now on a waiting list for ACL reconstruction surgery 😖.

{Ed025's Note - best of luck mate..

No it won't derail us. Vvd has brought more than his huge presence, he has brought confidence into the other cbs. We are not as flimsy at the back without him now, than we were before he signed and we have better goal keepers and more experienced fbs and an out and out dcm.

We let 7 goals in when he was in the pitch so.

Agree that Gomez and Matip are both good players but the only thing flimsy is Matips ability to stay healthy. Gomez is having a slight dip at the moment so I’m not sure if Klopps plan was to give him a bit of a break (as he was the one to miss out yesterday) then that’s out of the window and it now looks like it’s a case of back into the deep end for him and play his way into form.

This mite be what gomez needs. He can now make the calls at the back instead of VVD.

I tore my ACL while just playing around in a swimming pool, on holiday, a long time ago. Walked around for 2-3 days, then flew home, walked around for another week and then finally agreed to surgery. My brother walked around on a torn ACL for almost a month (being the idiot that he is) before he had surgery. So I guess you can walk around with it, although with discomfort, depending on the extent of the tear or break.
