Matip off at half time with a back injury.

I really think the club need to at least look to bringing another CB in during the January transfer window.

Agree1 Disagree0

13 Dec 2020 18:00:46
I think we will have to if Matip's going to be out for more than a game or two.

Of course maybe none that have any long-term prospects will be available at a price that'll represent value for money.

13 Dec 2020 18:27:53
One thing is crystal clear
Liverpool are not winning this season

You can see it - when there is an advantage we lose or draw
Tons of injuries

Last year Liverpool won these games . like Brighton an Fulham

It’s written for Jose an Spurs.

{Ed0666's Note - don’t be silly how can you discount winning the title so early. There’s so many permutations ahead I suggest you buckle up and enjoy the ride.

13 Dec 2020 18:29:01
Maybe a loan option SR?

I think the fact Klopp put Hendo into defence shows he’s not entirely confident.

13 Dec 2020 18:37:41
I was of the opinion that we probably didn't need a CB because of financial constraints and the fact that Philips and Rhys Williams could fill in. Matip is now injured again and that leaves only Fabinho (who is just back from injury) . Too risky to depend so much on the youngsters. It's time to buy.

Perr Schuurs has good enough future prospects, I think. Plays on the right. Ball playing CB as Klopp likes them. Matip's successor.

{Ed0666's Note - the need for a center back is so acute now. I expect one in January at the very least a loan. Relying on Matip fitness for a season is one of the most riskiest things you can do in life

13 Dec 2020 18:41:01
Ed-0666 I’m not being irrational it’s just so clear to see
The injuries mounting up
One step forward and two back
And you know and have seen that it’s winning these games
Which won Liverpool the league and previous teams also

These setbacks will be costly . As there are so many more harder games to come where Liverpool will drop points
At the moment Spurs have the better an fitter squad not saying it’s lfc fault but why does it seem so crazy then.

{Ed0666's Note - because Spurs will get injuries, play badly and drop points. As will others teams like Chelsea, City, Southampton, United etc.

13 Dec 2020 18:49:27
We played better without Matip. But, the club need to look at why we are getting so many injuries. Not sure it’s down to bad luck. Away form isn’t good enough to win the league in a normal season.

{Ed0666's Note - we have a world class medical and sports science department. The injuries are just bad fortune and playing so many games consecutively.

13 Dec 2020 18:50:33
You only post after we drop points red rebel 😂.

Nowhere to be seen when we perform well.

13 Dec 2020 18:58:33
Sorry, don’t agree a lot of those injured players have not played a lot of games consecutively or no more than a normal season. Milner, Matip, Keita, Shaq etc.

{Ed0666's Note - the players you mention bar Milner have a history of being injury prone.

13 Dec 2020 19:00:20
We're level on points with Spurs and are playing them at Anfield, where we've turned over 2 other top 4 teams by 4-0 scorelines in our last two league games there, in three days. And this is despite a mountain of injuries. Spurs wouldn't be able to keep pace with 6, 7 or 8 players injured the way we have. If they even lost Kane or Son, they'd be dead in the water.

And poor refereeing decisions in the Everton and Brighton games cost us 4 points. We really should be ahead of them. Again, despite how many we have injured.

No reason at all to suggest that the title is Jose's.

{Ed0666's Note - well said something red totally concur. We have to be philosophical as we are being toyed with by the injury gods and we have to put our big boy pants on and suck it up till it gets better

13 Dec 2020 19:10:43
I don’t disagree I just see Jose really trying hard
With his tactics
Less injuries and I know every league is difficult

It’s just “looks like Liverpool are I guess not showing what I expect And these games are slipping away - not having people available for big games doesn’t help.

{Ed0666's Note - let’s face it we have a second string side at the moment who are knackered. Jose won’t need to park the bus on Wednesday because he can come and play because he may fancy his chances and capitalize on our frailties. Let’s hope the lads are perky and make us proud.

13 Dec 2020 19:14:44
I think the important thing to remember is that fact we are still joint top and when players start to get back from injury, we’ll only get stronger.

Having said this, we had enough quality to have won today, only drawing against a team 4th from bottom is disappointing. We were truly abysmal in the first half, no wonder Klopp ran down the tunnel at half time.

13 Dec 2020 19:20:50
Disagree there Ed, Jose will park the bus regardless of our injuries because it's an away game and that's what he does in away games.

We could have Alisson and Origi at CB on Wednesday and he still wouldn't try to engage us in a football game.

13 Dec 2020 19:24:01
In fairness today’s 2nd string side were only really missing vvd at centre back and fab then pushed into midfield. That would then have been our CL winning team to a tea and except Matip and Gomez our strongest line up that won the league.

13 Dec 2020 19:49:16
Classic knee jerk reaction, redrebel1. Sure, it’s tougher this season and I wouldn’t bet too much on Liverpool winning the league this season but writing us off when we are joint top after one third of the season despite having an appalling run of injuries and a tougher set of fixtures so far than most is nothing more than a knee jerk.

I’m frustrated too; I thought the tone was set from the first 90 seconds today - it felt like the Watford match last season. But the league table rarely lies. No team is running away with this and if we assume that we’ll be stronger, in terms of injuries and availability, in the second half of the season, I think we’re well placed. Imagine Jan and Feb, just as everyone is tiring, we’ll drop fit and fresh Jota and Thiago into the side.

Not to mention winning our Champions League group with a match to spare and a points tally that we’ve only bettered once in the past.

13 Dec 2020 20:16:50
Isn’t the only reason Tottenham are too is because credit to their medical department and them that not one player is injured or looks knackered despite all of them playing way more games that most of our players. Even salah and mane and wijnaldum have played way less than Kane and son and they look leggy whereas kane and son look like they are fine for fitness despite playing all them games.

13 Dec 2020 20:31:24
We're joint top of the table before Christmas with players to come back and some want to give up already?
Hahahahahaha, "You'll never something something alone".
Gloryseekers, not supporters.

13 Dec 2020 21:09:49
The worse issue with today was the fight in the first half didn't work hard enough and were sloppy the team picks itself with the injuries and players thought ah its only Fulham and were shocking today not good enough

But considering the amount of injuries we have winning every game can't happen

Not all doom and gloom considering all the usual big 6 teams lost or drew we actually gained points in Chelsea this weekend and matched the rest.

14 Dec 2020 01:21:03
Isn’t drawing a game totally normal? Us and City have just raised the bar so high in the last 3 seasons that we’ve forgotten the previous 100 seasons.
Throughout history the teams at the top do lose and draw games so a draw today is nothing to lose your head about. It’s football at the highest level. You win, you draw, you lose.
We are still joint top and only lost 1 so far this season. We are in a good position and once we get some players fit we’ll get stronger. Just relax.

14 Dec 2020 02:50:27
Of corse we need a CB in January. We already should have one lined up and he comes on New Year’s Day at 1 minute past midnight.
Were Having to play our best Midfielders in defence! So not only has our defence become terrible, our midfield is shot to shat.
