Tyler Morton was very good last night done everything he had to and more great to see academy lads getting a chance . Also spotlight was on Tyler but thought neco had a really good game against a tricky and arguably their best player in luis Diaz

With Tyler coming to the first team and getting games does this push Curtis Jones out slightly or do you think their is room for both in the squad obviously having hg players for us is a must but do you see Liverpool doing as we seem to have a few quite promising players coming through at the same time obviously they are all a few seasons away .

Cheers.

Why does everyone seem so desperate for Jones to fail? Isn’t he out with an eye injury? Morton gets a couple of appearances and therefore he has pushed Jones out of the door in the process? I do not understand.

I was at the game last night and you are right both had solid games and impressed.

I think with Milner slowly phasing out, Keita never being fit, there is room for both as squad players short term and hopefully both pushing on the door for a regular spot long term (2-3 years) once Henderson, Thiago are slowing down. Just my view.

They are both different players. Jones has competition from OX, Keita, and Henderson.

Exactly AW, a midfield trio of Norton, Jones and Elliot in a few years looks good on paper, from what I've seen of them all so far.

I love Jones and think he has a tremendous future with the club.

25 Nov 2021 13:57:35
Lad's lad's BOTH players have a brilliant future with the club. For me Morton and Jones are different players who play in different positions in midfield so one is not going to oust the other. The future is bright the future is RED YNWA 👍.

Loving the youth development in midfield this season, Morton being the latest one. Elliot and Jones are more attacking, Morton more in a Fabs mould.

I keep bleating on about him, but add Bellingham into the mix and we have a fantastic basis for future years.

Versatile too as both Jones and Elliot can also play on the wing if needs be.

I was about to say that Keita can now leave given the strength in depth, but I've actually been more impressed with Naby this season than the last 2. Maybe it's his year ;-) :D.

I think Milner and perhaps Thiago will both be gone in 2 years, Henderson's role may change, one of Ox or Kieta will probably have gone, we'll go through a new generation of our midfield and the prospect of that being Elliot, Jones, Morton is pretty cool!

Morton obviously needs to bulk up abit but just being around the team is great for him, I think it's disrespectful to suggest Jones is behind him as he is much further along and probably ahead of Kieta and Ox in the team when fully fit.

Anonymous Woolback, THIS! There has been a disgraceful witch hunt not just on this forum, but in the fan base since the summer where Elliott was coming up and playing well in preseason and early on in the season. They want him gone cos the shiny new toy Elliott appeared and now after seeing Morton play well, it's back again.

For a team that seldom sees youngsters coming thru, we should be happy with the brilliant job Klopp is doing bringing youngsters thru BUT no, we can't be having that. According to some, we clearly cannot have a bunch of youngsters coming thru in the same position and thriving. Heaven forbid that happens.

For them if one comes thru, his ex academy mate in the same position needs to go. In this case then, what happens when another kid comes thru then, Morton will need to go as well then, yeah? Then where does this rubbish end? This logic is beyond baffling to me.

Hang on chaps did I say pushed out the door

No

Some of you guys need a few Valium 1 question and I’m packing Jones bags and I’m raving about Elliot and Morton is a shiny new toy . Hahaha

Imagine if some of you guys wer evertonians or Utd fans
Jeeeeeeez
😂😂😂😂.

What I was getting at was we can’t just stock pile academy lads give them a few games here and there
Room in the squad we have a massive squad and if we are looking to bring another into the mix surely it’s cutting the game time of another

That was my point .

Some posters have a really bad habit of reading posts and twisting it for their own benefit. All you did was ask a question Dhfc. I personally think Jones has a future in the Liverpool first team but there were strong rumours he was for sale in the summer. If everyone is fit neither are getting a game as things stand atm.

25 Nov 2021 23:36:13
Bickering about if A gets better will it mean the end for B is, at best pointless but I do think the fact that the conversation is taking place at all is an excellent sign that the club’s youth development system is looking up (compared to the pre-Klopp era.

The club said a number of times in the lead up to the move to the new training facilities that it would benefit the development of the youth pathway into the senior set-up, at first blush it certainly looks to be proving correct.

If we go forwards say 3 or 4 years and the 50% of lads with the apparent potential (say, Kelleher, Pitulagi, Bradley, Beck, Neco, Koumetio, Quansah, Morton, Jones, Elliot, Frauendorf, Balagizi, Gordon, Clarke, Oakley Cannonier, Stewart) make the grade the club will recoup the cost of building the training centre by not having to shell out millions to buy the ‘finished product’ from around the world.

Lol hardly a witch hunt Oli 🤣🤣🤣🤣.

26 Nov 2021 06:13:04
WDW that is a good list of young tal. Take Elliot out because he is almost first choice in the first 11 or certainly one of the first of the bench. From the rest if one or two make it at top PL level that will be par for the course.

26 Nov 2021 08:16:55
Was gutted when Elliot got injured you could see the lads confidence growing . Hope he gets a few games again this season and kicks on next year . I agree that we have an abundance of talent in the academy but it will be attitude and commitment that will see them get a chance aswell as talent
We know klopp is a fan of hard work.

26 Nov 2021 08:56:54
Mark, you are one of the people on here slandering Jones and pushing him to leave cos according to you, Elliott was better cos he was starting more of the preseason game. You even compared him to Stevie G at the same age saying he should be doing what Stevie was doing. It was so bad that as soon as the Villa rumors came out you were pushing for us to sell Jones and cos he was 7th or 8th on the pecking order (as if one can see that during preseason, lol) .

Now you are changing your tune and saying Jones has a bright future and blah, blah, blah whereas you weren't saying that in the summer so don't come on here and start rewriting history and don't you lecture me about twisting words to suit narratives. You are the absolute DON on this forum when it comes to that and slandering players and perennial negativity cos FSG did not do what you wanted.

26 Nov 2021 08:59:52
Dhfc, I made an overall point regarding people trying to push Jones out and I got the receipts to prove it. Nowhere did I mention that you were one of them so take a chill pill and actually read the post I made cos nowhere did I even mention you in it.
