Saturday was an away game against a newly promoted side, and an early kick off.

In other words, Banana skin x Banana Skin x Banana Skin.

I've seen so much negativity on social media and on here, and I just want to remind fans we were fifteen minutes away from a domestic treble, and a MOTM performance away from the CL.

Can we please keep things in perspective instead of obsessing over new signing who wouldn't necessarily improve the team? Shanks used to say: 'Same as last year. '

Maybe if there was twitter then he would have been sacked after a few months.

Agree0 Disagree0

1. Half our games are away games. This is something we have to get over.
2. Newly promoted sides should be more than simple enough for a team of our calibre.
3. I'm pretty sure Fulham had to get up at the same time as us. 12.30 games are only a problem when there have been midweek Champions League games before them, of which there were none.

It was through drawing games like this like Brentford and Leeds that we DIDN'T win the League last year. It is especially frustrating when it is abuntantly clear we need a new midfielder. We have known this for some time now.

13 Aug 2022 06:30:49
No team we play is ‘simple enough’. It is that condescending attitude to the opposition that has social media screaming hysterically when things don’t go according to their simplistic view of the world.

13 Aug 2022 06:58:35
Hopefully the league will stop giving us away games and 1230 kicks offs.

With this hose pipe ban I’m also concerned about dry pitches so I’m going to start taking water balloons to games to slicken that surface up.

Ps does anyone have a wind protector the club can borrow.

On a serious note though we drew, Klopps not happy, some fans are not happy, some fans are happy. It is what it is.

We move on and it’s Palace next where 3 points are a must and I’m sure a far better performance will be witnessed.

13 Aug 2022 07:24:45
In my opinion teams at the bottom of the League should be bread and butter for title-chasing teams WDW. When the games are coming thick and fast playing twice a week, you need to be able to go through the motions and win these games.

13 Aug 2022 08:23:07
Babbity Rabbity, you say drawing games against brentford and LEEDS was why we lost the league last year.

We beat Leeds away 3-0, and beat Leeds at home 6-0.Both games were in fact rich pickings.

13 Aug 2022 08:25:32
Babbity Rabbity, we didn't win the leauge last year because for the second year in a row we didn't beat City in the league. We take 4 points off City this season we will win the league. You can draw games and still do that. Unless you are drawing against the team finishing 1 point ahead of you.

13 Aug 2022 08:28:30
Of course you should treat every team with respect but if you have any aim on winning the PL then we should be winning those games home and away. We can look at many reasons for not winning, ie 12.30 kick offs but if we are honest with ourselves they are nothing more than excuses. The dry pitch was a new one and I expect it to be used more frequently during the season ?.

13 Aug 2022 09:24:25
Kimuraking or you could win the games you should win so you can afford to draw against the better teams. For me, dropping points against City is excusable. Dropping points against teams at the bottom is not.

13 Aug 2022 09:41:32
We didn’t beat Fulham because we were rubbish to put it politely. Everything else is excuses, we have no right to win these matches we have to earn the right. Hopefully that sham of a performance is a one off. We go again and hopefully with the players having been given the rollicking they deserved they will remember to turn up on Monday.

13 Aug 2022 09:52:24
@Babbity, have you not been reading this site recently? There has been a fair deal of criticism about the quality of the team, in particular the midfield and Bobby F. There are a fair of people on here who would dispute your assessment of our quality.

To be fair I agree with you that we should have enough about us so that, all things being equal, we should win an awful lot more than we lose and as I said in a different thread we have played 20 PL games in 2022 and have a record of won 16: drawn 4 and lost 0.

The point I was trying to make is that in about 95% of cases any of the top teams including us and City have to be on their game to win. We were poor against Fulham, not on our game, and were lucky to get a point. The dismissing of the bottom half of the table as ‘simple enough’ to beat just isn’t true, as the evidence of recent seasons proves and not only for us, if we play to our potential more often than not we should win but we are setting ourselves up if we think we will win just by turning up.

13 Aug 2022 10:09:26
100% agree with those who say we need a new midfielder this summer. Bobby isn't worth the £180k a week he is on but we can leave it until his contract is up next summer to replace him in my opinion. If we want to win the League we have to get to the level where we win these games even on our worst day.

13 Aug 2022 10:40:48
The season we won the league we didn’t win every game playing well. Great teams win games when not playing well which we are.

I’d find it hard to imagine a team has ever gone a full season at the top of their game 95% of it.

WDW you seem more upset about the fact Bobby is getting criticised over the Fulham defeat. Perhaps if we say Bobby played well and should start ahead of Nunez this season but the rest were poor against Fulham it will sit better ?.

13 Aug 2022 10:45:56
Folks are losing touch with reality if they think we should automatically rock up and wipe the floor with any team deemed to be "below us".
One week after the heinous crime of drawing a football match and still folks are crying because our season is over already.
21st century football fans.

13 Aug 2022 11:29:00
Problem is City rock up and wipe the floor with any team most of the time and can win playing below par whereas we need to be fully on it to win games given we don’t have the quality they have / play the same way they do. So when the comments are made re midfield, Bobby etc and slow starts, it’s because we can’t drop many points and need to improve to beat City. If City weren’t around a draw at Fulham would be ok.

13 Aug 2022 12:23:25
Perhaps 21st century fans should support someone else ?.

13 Aug 2022 12:27:17
Spot on, Flash. Like I have always asked, how have these people survived through out those lean years when we won ONLY 1 League Cup in heaven knows how long. I bet you had these “fans” been present at Istanbul, they prolly would have left the stadium at half time and hung the team out to dry when the team really needed them. Sad.

13 Aug 2022 12:28:47
@Waemachine we haven’t lost in the PL this year which is a better record than City. We seem to ‘rock up’ often enough.

The person who decides what players we need said that we were basically done in the transfer market. he was still saying yesterday that we would only move for someone if the right player was available and that he is happy enough that even with the players out injured we still have enough competition for places in the midfield. Roll back 12 months and there was a daily session on why we should
buy Bissouma. We didn’t and we managed to go ok without him. This year it’s not Bissouma, it’s just random names that pop up on social media. I’m sure it’ll carry on for the next two weeks. I just find the conversation either funny or sad based on how desperate the poster who starts the conversation is for us to sign somebody, anybody so long as we spend big money.

13 Aug 2022 12:46:21
Ultimately City would have pumped Fulham for four or five and Fulham wouldn’t have laid a glove on them, I don’t see City dropping many points this season. You simply cannot afford any slips like this if you want to beat city to the league. Play like that against Palace and get anything less than a win then we are playing for second place that’s just an uncomfortable truth.

13 Aug 2022 12:57:47
Genuine question as I cannot remember but maybe someone will.

Rewinding back What was Klopp saying throughout Jan 22 and Jan 21 before the club buying Diaz and panic buying Davies and loaning Kabak.

Was it similar to what he is saying now or was it something different?

Because when we went in for Diaz it caught everyone off guard here as it literally came from nowhere.

It’ll be nice when the window does close mind. I have to admit. Not that I’m tired of transfer talk I’m more tired about people moaning about people moaning.

13 Aug 2022 13:27:16
Of course you can win the league by dropping points, the league won’t be won with 100 points. I reckon 94 points should do it this season, so you can afford to drop 20 points.

13 Aug 2022 13:28:58
Loving the strawmans you have for anyone who is critical guys. Been a LFC fan for 20 years now. Been through the Hicks and Gillett days so know what it's when we're out of the picture. That's why I want us to capitalise when we can compete, especially when we are so close to reaching that level. I know full well this won't last forever. We've only prevented City from winning the League once in the last 5 years so there is definitely room for improvement. The whole "I'm a top red but you're a recent glory hunter" is so old.

13 Aug 2022 13:34:22
Love it when posters highlight fans as "fans". It's as if they're putting themselves in the higher echelons on the fan league ?.
Like I said plenty of takers for the #Superfanoftheyear award. Get your names in early.

13 Aug 2022 13:37:11
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it it utterly ridiculous that we’ve not bought a midfielder. Back ups to our first choice are not good enough or aged. There’s no one in that 23-27 age group. Really poor planning it has to be said. Ox has been a total disaster, Keita really poor much of the time. I do have concerns about this season.

13 Aug 2022 14:14:47
Ox was one of the first names on the team sheet before that horrible knee injury in 2018. He has not been the same since, to say he was a total disaster is wholey unfair and inaccurate .

13 Aug 2022 14:24:49
I would guess all in all we've had 1 good season out of Ox in his years at Liverpool. Not disastrous but it ain't great either. Shame for him tho, he is actually the type of midfielder we need, he was great when fit and in form.

13 Aug 2022 16:07:58
Irish it would be like the Balon D’or for super fans. I bet Each nominee would write a cracking self appraisal thank you speech about them self as well.

Would be something for us regular supporters to aim for in regards to bettering ourselves in the future.

13 Aug 2022 16:13:50
Someone may tell the big German fella what we need. Rightly or wrongly he's of the opinion he can deal with it using what's available to him. Time will tell who is right won't it?

13 Aug 2022 16:15:52
It’s all well and good saying “same as last year”. If that’s the case we’re finishing second again.

13 Aug 2022 16:39:13
Oh mane mane but if the club doesn’t sign anyone it doesn’t necessarily mean that Klopp doesn’t want them too.

Lots of factors. Perhaps his budget is done on the Nunez and Salah deals.

In January this same conversation was happening where Klopp didn’t want anyone and then Diaz turned up because our hand was forced. If Spurs hadn’t have bid then we wouldn’t have. Clearly Klopp wanted him and he came early which was a great result in the end but it was outside circumstances that started it. It’s not like Diaz was forced on Klopp.

It’s been said many a time the club live hand to mouth and Mane and others left to allow funds for Nunez to come in. Midfielders will leave at the end of this season and I very much expect them to be replaced next summer and not this one.

But out of 2 of our last 3 windows we’ve done business at the last minute which is very much unlike us (appreciate both we’re Januarys mind)

I wonder if the fans who say other supporters should support other clubs because the club don’t do as they want followed their own advice in Jan when they told everyone we didn’t need a shiny new toy and then Diaz turned up.

Practice what you preach and all that.

13 Aug 2022 17:09:27
The only one of our midfielders who will leave at the end of this season is Ox, there’s no way that he will be replaced as he barely plays and his wage going will be treated as a saving. Keita is going to renew (apparently true and completely against all logic) and I can see the club getting one more season out of Milner. So I don’t see that there will be any incomings midfield wise next summer as the same apparent argument used this summer will be applied next summer (ie that we have “plenty of options”) . I also think those supporters who are deluding themselves that Bellingham is going to sign next year are in for a massively disappointing time next summer, the kid has already planned his future and it doesn’t involve us.

13 Aug 2022 18:32:18
Well then JK23 he needs to come out and say that. Stop being puppet for the owners. Majority of fans will back him over FSG if it came to it.

13 Aug 2022 18:41:10
Oh mane mane I agree mate. But I only say it as surely every manger out there would like better players coming into the squad if the opportunity arose. I love this club and love the squad and yes 8 midfielders does sound a lot but the truth is imagine Klopp picking Naby and Ox to start an important must win game plus every single one of them have had recent injury worries.

Fans have a Dickie fit is Naby starts let alone him and Ox.

13 Aug 2022 20:53:42
Ox had one partly decent season and dire after that.

14 Aug 2022 14:11:24
People often have a revisionist view of Ox's first season. The reality is he wasn't great for the first few months and then he started to do well playing in midfield as we often had the midfield 3 on rotation in those days. I would say we got about 4 months of decent football out of him before his injury.
