According to the Premier League injuries website both Bradley and Ekitike have now beginning of November as a potential return dates. Gomez should be back first, then Chiesa, then Leoni before the other two.
11 Sep 2026 09:56:04
I wouldn't count too much on Ekitike this season, or at least until april in the best case scenario. That injury is very bad so needs to be carefully managed and he will need time to trust his body again.
11 Sep 2026 09:56:15
Ekitike is doing independent ball work now. Looks really positive but still a long way to go.
11 Sep 2026 10:09:34
Is that a euphemism MK?
11 Sep 2026 10:16:44
I don't think so Taurus. According to his missus he only gets to score when he scores.
11 Sep 2026 10:25:31
@Dominican Pat Richards for Wigan Warriors had the same injury and was sidelined for 6 months.
11 Sep 2026 10:30:29
Mk you are correct and I've seen Ekitike post saying he's hoping to be back by boxing day.
11 Sep 2026 10:35:36
@Dominican, where are you getting your information from?
11 Sep 2026 10:42:05
I don't want Eki anywhere near a football pitch until he is well and trully over such a devastating and complicated injury.
Cos a player came back from it in 6 months doesn't apply to every scenario either because people's bodies are different and their recovery powers are different.
Eki should be back only when all systems are go and not a moment before.
11 Sep 2026 11:29:34
Oli, you need to forward this to the Liverpool medical team. I'm sure they were wanting him to make the bench for tomorrow.
11 Sep 2026 11:29:49
Every human is different and heals at different speeds you can't blanket a one case fits all it's all down to the person. What will be will be.
10 Sep 2026 14:03:22
Think iraola has seen through gravy. He knows he can't play him over macca and szobo.
10 Sep 2026 14:36:44
I still think we need a player with better defensive discipline than Szobozlai in midfield, especially if Wirtz is always first on the team sheet. Getting in each others way at times it feels.
10 Sep 2026 14:43:20
He will make Grav change. If he doesn't change, he won't play her.
10 Sep 2026 15:31:50
If he didn't rate him then he probably wouldn't be here.
10 Sep 2026 16:09:09
Him* :/.
10 Sep 2026 16:52:27
Could always add more granules, OP.
10 Sep 2026 18:29:08
Was he terrible last night? I was at the game and he looked Orite to me, can't understand the hate for Gravy today.
I thought it was a decent sub at the right time, tired legs in there and he took some pressure off š¤·š»āāļø.
10 Sep 2026 18:32:18
Very good FPF š.
10 Sep 2026 19:20:10
Guess we always need a player to beat on. Gakpo is doing ok, so Grav it is. Sad really!
10 Sep 2026 19:30:10
I thought he looked like he was trying a bit too hard, trying things that weren't on to try and show he could make a difference. There are worse responses to being dropped. Just needs to do the simple stuff well and he'll be fine, not everyone needs to be a superstar.
10 Sep 2026 19:37:51
Seems like another example of a player not starting so he becomes crap to some. Then when he starts getting some games we remember he's actually a good player and the crap player mantle becomes the player he replaced.
10 Sep 2026 18:29:24
Damn you FPF! I'm too slow!
I was going to mention something about x-ray vision, but it doesn't matter now. Humph!
10 Sep 2026 19:46:55
I am a fan of gravy, and maybe it was the coverage but it looked like everything he did was bad, and if it was good, it was a lucky foul. I genuinely believe he is a good footballer, but I have no understanding of last night's terrible performance. Only positive is I can say he looked like he was trying. Maybe too hard?
10 Sep 2026 20:43:39
We need a full squad. Grav is talented. He'll hopefully figure it out. Its mostly in the head with him.
It doesn't have to be Szoboslai vs Macca vs Grav vs Nyoni with the fans. We have all of them and will need them all.
It might be taking Grav a bit longer to figure out the tactics, but that's not to say he won't and then start delivering. He is a good athlete. He ll figure out what he needs to start doing to get in the team. Might even become a better player because of this period. Sometimes being subbed is a good time to reflect on why you are sub and fix it.
Its early days.
10 Sep 2026 21:33:52
Grav needs to keep it simple, yday he lost the ball twice trying fancy flicks the kind that cost us a goal against Newcastle.
10 Sep 2026 21:41:53
The main thing is Iraola doesn't have any favourites and is picking players on form. He comes across like a nice guy but also one willing to take decisions needed. Everyone will get a chance to impress with the amount of games coming up. We are starting to look like a proper effective team again.
11 Sep 2026 02:27:32
Agree @WarMachine, whatever it is there has been a mental shift. We look far more solid and a lot more like an actual football team than the past 18 months. Nowhere near the finished article (if there is such a thing) but the ship is, at least, sailing in the right direction.
{Ed666's Note - could it do with the fact where training harder, are fitter than weāve been in a long time, have some tactical nous and well Iām gonna stop there before I have the pro slot brigade banging my ears
11 Sep 2026 07:10:13
Szob is the worry he just hasn't a clue on positioning and tracking back. Not suited to the system. Hope the manager can improve him defensively and encourage him to move the ball faster.
Plus can he try to miss the first man at corners.
11 Sep 2026 07:57:34
LFC8 - if Grav was supposed to take the pressure off he didn't accomplish that, quite the opposite. He gave the ball away carelessly on enough occasions for Stevie G to voice his disapproval on TNT and he had barely been on 5 minutes. Gave away a needless foul too.
I tell you who did relieve the pressure, young Lewis Koumas. Great cameo and the lunging header to win a free kick effectively killed the game.
Markp - totally agree. He lacks some of the skills that I consider to be core to a midfielder, which is a worry. And his corners are awful for someone so clinical with a deadball. More practice on the training ground required.
11 Sep 2026 08:51:16
The thing with Grav is that he is not disciplined enough. I don't know what happened to him but he has been bad since last season until now, and while he doesn't deserve hate, he does indeed need to be critized for his performances.
I've said a couple of times, Grav seems to be more effective in a 4-3-3 rather than a 4-2-3-1. Additionally, I don't think him, Szobo and Wirtz should play together in the same midfield. So, I wouldn't be surprised if a decision to sell one of the 3 is made.
Sadly, if we wanted to sell Grav it would be difficult since he was given a stupidly big contract for just half of a great season. I looked at the numbers and he is the 3rd player after VVD and Isak, and 2nd if you include bonuses.
11 Sep 2026 09:02:33
How can Szoboszlai be a concern when he has scored 2 goals from 4 games. Isn't your AM supposed to score goals as well? he is doing his own job and somebody else's i would suggest.
11 Sep 2026 09:39:58
I really don't think it's that deep OP. We have a squad for a reason, the new manager is trying to find the best balance. Players have their time in the sun, then dip out, then come back. Everyone will have a role to play. Even if Gravenberch didn't ever manage to win over the managers trust and had to be sold, who's arsed? Players come and go all the time and i wish Liverpool were more ruthless in that sense.
I have no issues with players coming in to generate competition and it resulting in some names being forced out. He's been dropped for two games, that's it, and if does eventually turn out to be the case that he isn't favoured, then cool, but we don't have to look ahead to that after 2 games of not starting.
11 Sep 2026 10:12:36
I think the problem may be with combinations of players rather than individuals. Kerkez and Rio on the right is a problem. For me the same goes for Szobo and Grav. It's not that they can't do the job, it's that both instinctively go forward and leave a gaping hole in midfield. Maybe Grav would fit in better with Macca or Nyoni.
11 Sep 2026 10:15:25
WarMachine mentioned it. While early days, Iraola doesn't seem to have favourites. That will get him on the fans' side.
Using Araujo was a good show, and so is dropping Grav. And actually, so is dropping Rio (for a game at least).
The wingers as it is, have all to prove. That they deserve to start.
None has done that (excpet perhaps Gakpo), and thus rotation makes sense.
Soon enough, Tsimikas will come in for Kerkez.
Whether Tsimikas will do well or not, it remaining to be seen. Or perhaps Gomez to play left back?
11 Sep 2026 10:37:17
@666, I think you might be onto something mate š.
10 Sep 2026 08:55:22
I have thought for a long time time that Llorente would fit well into an Iraola Liverpool team. Proper energy and a grafter and can score goals too - as he ever been on our radar?
10 Sep 2026 09:07:37
Iraola hasn't been our manager for a long time.
Do you mean that back when he was at Bournemouth you thought Llorente would play well there?
10 Sep 2026 09:19:47
I'll translate for you CBell - watched the game last night, liked the look of Llorente, can we buy him please - brace yourself for additional random posts such as this everytime someone has a decent game against us.
10 Sep 2026 09:32:33
I must admit, not being that knowledgeable of players for other clubs, especially non-PL clubs, I saw Llorente had scored and immediately thought of Fernando, i.e. a striker!
Didn't realise that Marcos is principally a RB!
I think a few weeks ago, I would have been keener on him given our gaps in that position.
However, with Araujo seemingly making the role his own, I think our need is less in that position, especially once Bradley returns.
If Bradley ends up having a LT injury issue, then I would prefer we went younger as Llorente is closer to the end of his career than the start.
If Araujo ends up continuing in this vein then I think most of us see us exercising our buy option and being very happy. I would hope we are able to give VVD a 1-2 year extension and therefore Jacquet, Leoni, VVD and (potentially) Ndukwe are a pretty strong CB cohort, allowing Araujo to be available for RB when needed.
I do see Araujo ultimately being a leader at CB, given his vociferousness, his leadership qualities and his bite/housery. But having him doing so well at RB means that we can potentially deprioritise that role, perhaps in favour of a CDM, in Jan.
10 Sep 2026 10:03:08
I'm pretty sure ed2 said we where interested in him few years ago
10 Sep 2026 10:38:58
Gotta say Zed, in the short time I've been watching him, I really like him. Really like Jacquet too.
Early days, I know, but both look like really good acquisitions at this point!
Thought Macca had a decent game last night (not just because of the goal), but he got a bit more stuck in. Still not the long term answer for me, but nice to see a little more from him (It's the least he should be doing tbh).
10 Sep 2026 11:31:11
You're correct there Digger. I think Klopp wanted him. Might be wrong with that though.
10 Sep 2026 12:07:53
2Shoes, it is still really early days, but his performances so far seem to eroding the opinions of some posters that he is a Melo or Caulker-esque loan signing.
I liked Araujo's profile going back a couple of years, but my concern was (and remains) injuries. Let's hope he makes it through the season.
10 Sep 2026 12:02:17
Shankly, he did want Llorente. Ed02 said so at the time, I concur with Digger.
10 Sep 2026 12:30:22
Watching Araujo wheel around after providing the assist was priceless. Just for that I'd buy him.
10 Sep 2026 12:35:55
I know a few questions have been asked about Kerkez's performance, albeit I thought on balance he did OK (based on extended highlights, though, as I didn't watch the whole game) - defensive lapse offset by attacking threat.
However, with Araujo at RB, and given he is less attacking minded than, say, Trent was, essentially we have a 'back 3' of Araujo, Jacquet & VVD which should help shore up the backline to allow Kerkez to press forward more.
I just like the solidity that Araujo in that position gives us, and is also a help to Jacquet as he settles in.
10 Sep 2026 13:09:19
I'm pretty sure Llorente is a box to box midfielder who can play RB rather than being primarily an RB. Would have been a good signing a few years ago, he's kind of getting on in years now.
{Ed666's Note - I thought Barrios was exceptional last night. I wouldnāt mind him in our midfield.
10 Sep 2026 14:46:12
Fully agree with Zed there on how we do/should use Araujo, adjusting loosely to 3 at the back when Kerkez goes forward is ideal. I like the look of Araujo, on the brief evidence so far he's a keeper for me. Unusual for our loans! I see some concerns about his injury problems but many of them have been very short, not an issue for me.
10 Sep 2026 15:04:07
Not sure how anyone can like the look of him .not with that ponytail! š¤®.
10 Sep 2026 15:51:58
Personal choice, Cardiff, or should that be Vidal Red!
10 Sep 2026 18:49:47
He ran the show for much of the time Ed, looked a really good player. Macca did well for us but more of a battling performance from him.
{Ed666's Note - Iāve never really noticed Barrio before but last night he was eye catching mate.
10 Sep 2026 19:19:10
Klopp was very very eager to sign him if I remember correctly.
10 Sep 2026 22:46:39
@CardiffRed, still haven't recovered from Voronin?
09 Sep 2026 13:12:18
Be interesting to see how Marc Pubill does tonight against us after fussball-news.de reported ourselves, Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea are among the interested parties in acquiring the CB, rumoured cost ā¬55m to ā¬60m.
09 Sep 2026 14:06:26
I am more interested in how our players perform tonight. Excited to see Barcola!
09 Sep 2026 19:53:47
Hopefully he looks like one we swerved and wouldn't take on a free after scoring 2 own goals. Then giving away a penalty which resulted in a red card.
09 Sep 2026 22:17:27
I can't see us putting more money into the CB position for the moment unless all of the 6 CBs we recently signed turn out to be duds. I suspect they will be looking at the midfield and a specialist rb first.
09 Sep 2026 23:14:04
What an unprofessional rubbish attitude from Simeone - just walked straight down the tunnel without shaking any hands. š”š”
09 Sep 2026 23:33:48
I love Simeone - heās like a pantomime villain. I think that nice young Argentinian lad who just joined Citeh might actually (or dare I say literally) be his son.
09 Sep 2026 23:34:28
He did the same thing last time as well - the man is a petulant little twerp.
It's interesting with him, though - he's been dining out on two league titles for 15 years, yet Atletico won't develop any further under him. Just the same c**p year after year.
{Ed666's Note - I think the cost of buying out of his contract is immense that may be a factor also
10 Sep 2026 02:26:23
They'll just give him a new one, Ed. Atletico is one of the best-funded clubs in Europe - they have all the money they need - yet they play like Everton.
{Ed666's Note - yes mate Iām super perplexed at the outrageous money they give him and hand him 10 year contracts or something silly like that. They are happy with a title every 4 or 5 years weird mentality.
10 Sep 2026 11:37:22
Simeone keeps the Argentina pipeline open for them, at least.
10 Sep 2026 12:03:07
Schultzy, Simeone always does that.
10 Sep 2026 16:28:08
Bit harsh on Simeone. When he took over Athletico were hamstrung financially. They still are somewhat. They were living pretty much year by year selling their best forwards hoping to find another diamond in the rough they were perennial mid tablers who every other season snuck into the champs league / UEFA places. Someone in his first full season got them 2 trophies and 3rd their highest finish since they won it in 96.
The very next season he won la Liga for the first time for them in almost 20 years somehow toppling Barca and Madrid who were absolute power houses back then.
He won a few super cops and got to 2 champs league finals. Pretty much all while selling their best players and bringing in misfits, paying down their debt and paying off a new stadium.
The football he played was ugly. I can't say I liked the way they played but he got his teams working as well drilled units.
We have seen clubs like ourselves and united spursditch managers and get into even more trouble as you end up changing manager every 2 seasons and you don't have a consistent type of player to bring in.
Athletico have done well keeping and you should be careful what you wish for. Because the grass isn't always greener. How many other world class managers are there and how many would want to come to Athletico?
10 Sep 2026 19:20:22
Simeone is a blert, and renowned for being a blert. Decent at his craft but an absolute beaut.
11 Sep 2026 02:32:23
And never forget the cheating sw1ne got our Becks sent off in the World Cup too. Other than that I don't like him, even though I've never met him.
{Ed666's Note - Didnāt Rooney get Ronaldo wrongly sent off in a World Cup or euros? Cheating is prevalent everywhere
08 Sep 2026 21:40:48
I see Romano is reporting that Man United have completed a deal to sign Liverpool's 16-year-old English midfielder Isaac Konde. Anyone know much about this kid? Is it considered a big loss?
08 Sep 2026 22:25:20
Huge talent, big loss.
08 Sep 2026 22:59:12
Why? What has he done? Heās 17 next month and is still playing under 18ās football and spends time on the bench.
09 Sep 2026 00:53:56
I assume he is another young lad with a lot of potential. As with all kiddies his age, there is no guarantee of realising the (full) potential. Most of the time they tend not to make it; sometimes they do, and in this case United have rolled the dice.
I read last season that Abe was the next sensation, but this season itās a bit quieter.
09 Sep 2026 03:53:32
Personally, I don't see securing a 16 year old as a huge win or lose a 16 year old as a huge loss.
Hopefully for the kid it is the right move for him.
09 Sep 2026 07:50:06
Have to say I hadnāt heard of him until this story came out. That's not to say heās not a good player, just that heās not one of the names you hear most about.
09 Sep 2026 08:23:58
There's thousands of young players that show potential early on but don't make it to first team PL football level for various reasons. Perhaps he will and perhaps he won't. It'll be as much a mentality issue as a physical or technical issue. It's a gamble and only time will tell.
09 Sep 2026 09:17:54
I wouldn't be concerned. Our Academy needs work, to be honest, when you look at how many have come through in the last 20 years. This should be the priority to fix instead of trying to sign the wondertalents that other academies have produced.
Just Trent and Curtis really, and Curtis didn't live up to it in the end.
Lots of players too who looked good but nothing happened (Woodburn, Pacheco, Canos etc.).
09 Sep 2026 11:24:05
The problem as I see it is this. It's so rare these days that a u21 player gets any 1st team games, they get shipped off to other clubs on loan.
Back in the day, when we had Steve Mac, Robbie Fowler, Owen and Gerrard, that was the exception to the rule. Players do not tend to be trained fully by the club; if they are at any other club then they will be over/under played.
EPL clubs rarely play young players; they prefer to buy foreign players who have made a bit of a name for themselves. Unfortunately, young players are not a priority anymore.
09 Sep 2026 11:42:27
Could have been the next Rio, or maybe a Josh McEachran. Or the next Pele, Freddy Adu.
Think we've just got to accept that academy kids move about these days, we seem to nab more than we lose.
09 Sep 2026 19:11:37
I definitely agree, Brown Jesus.
09 Sep 2026 22:00:07
Itās a subject that has been discussed on here quite a number of times. Thereās basically a gap in between the very top teams and the slightly Kessler (for want of a better phrase) teams in, as an example, the PL.
Young players, particularly from abroad, are happy to sign for the ālesserā teams because they know they will get game time. If they do, and they shine, then the top tier clubs pay over the odds to buy. The youngsters in a lot of cases donāt opt for the top teams initially because they are not going to get the game time.
For the home grown kids, the ones with potential at 16, 17 tend to play up through the age groups but rarely make it into the senior match day squads, let alone the team. Their development path comes up against the club spending hundreds of millions on āready madeā squad / team players who have one or two years more experience (in this example in the PL) and often the home grown players just donāt have the opportunities to kick on.
Home grown kids who at 15, 16 or so may have been ābetterā prospects ultimately lose out in a lot of cases due to their promotion path not being the same as the kids coming in from overseas.
Iām talking in general terms rather than specific examples of players, but imho it seems, oddly, that the path is harder for homegrown teenagers.
As an interesting aside, Chelsea sold or loaned 39 players in the recent transfer window and received over Ā£400m in transfer fees. They have their own model which, as Iāve said before, treats young human beings far too much like trading assets.
08 Sep 2026 07:47:51
Could we be bringing in two Rayans this coming January? Indy reporting interest in Rayan Ait-Nouri. I wouldnāt be against the idea.
08 Sep 2026 08:24:25
Why on earth would we want one of the worst LBs in the Premier League?
Heās injury prone, never bothers to track back, canāt defend on the odd occasion he is in position, loses possession by just dribbling down blind alleys, doesnāt track runners, never wins headers and has the passing range of a teaspoon.
Honestly, this might be the worst player weāve been linked to since the Hodgson days.
08 Sep 2026 08:55:49
Seen him pocket Salah a couppa times over the years in fairness.
08 Sep 2026 08:58:40
MK, not sure if he is as bad as you said he is.
But when I looked closely at how he played when we were linked earlier to him and Kerkez, I was happy we went for Kerkez.
But seeing how Kerkez is doing, I questioned my earlier judgement, you know.
I think the problem is that we have been spoilt. Robbo was so good, that any comparison just paled.
I do wish we looked at another set of fullbacks over time.
08 Sep 2026 09:13:23
Ait Nouri is much worse than Kerkez. He also NEVER pocketed Salah whatsoever. Easy to look like that when Salah is triple marked.
08 Sep 2026 09:27:57
The worst player weāve been linked to since the Hodgson days?
We do like to exaggerate on here, donāt we!
Heās a left back that goes forward quite well and doesnāt defend so well going back the other way - the league is full of them. We have 2 ourselves. Wouldnāt be someone I would sign, but not considerably better / worse than Kerkez or Frimpong.
08 Sep 2026 09:34:39
He did so pocket Salah. Why on earth would I say it if it never happened? Itās not a slight on Salah, itās just that maybe, just maybe, Ait Nouri isnāt as bad as been made out above.
08 Sep 2026 09:39:11
But he is, he is an absolutely terrible defender though, doesn't change the facts what you think.
08 Sep 2026 09:50:24
No problem ASB. Heās a terrible terrible defender. Don't know how he ever made it.
08 Sep 2026 09:50:35
Or maybe he just had a good day when Salah had an off day Florian?
08 Sep 2026 10:00:13
Must have been Ron. Can be the only explanation for it apparently.
08 Sep 2026 10:07:37
Give Kerkez some more time under Iraola FFS, he was hands down the best left back in the league in his last season at Bournemouth under Iraola. Let's give him a bit more time.
On the other hand, Frimpong... I'm still yet to be convinced (despite his likeability)
08 Sep 2026 10:13:42
Florian loves a wee argument. He can turn the most basic of posts into a fight
08 Sep 2026 10:16:28
I think Frimpong could maybe play right wing in cup games or come on at end of games to add some pace. I think Araujo looks so much more comfortable at right back.
As a team, we just looked so much more solid with Araujo at right back. I know the sample size is small, but I can see the same team sheet for Fulham game all being well.
08 Sep 2026 08:25:15
I would and I suspect Ed001 would too š
{Ed001's Note - Ait-Nouri? I would rather bring back Moreno than sign him.}
08 Sep 2026 10:37:02
š The āI wouldā was a response to the original post āI wouldnāt be against the ideaā.
We already have better players, Iād rather have Chambers as a fringe player than sign Ait Nouri.
{Ed001's Note - agreed.}
08 Sep 2026 10:43:04
Ait-Nouri isn't as bad as described by MK and others. Watched him a lot at the Wolves and he looked a decent player to me.
08 Sep 2026 10:58:54
Worst player weāve been linked to since Roy Hodgson? Come on, Fikayo Tomori exists, and we were linked to him, and we have also had Steven Caulker and Mario Balotelli literally play for us, who are both far far worse.
08 Sep 2026 11:03:02
I would say that he's almost certainly better at football than most, if not all, of the posters on this site.
However, as Premier League footballers go he's just not very good imo. He barely got a game at city last season and hasn't played a minute this one. Hard pass for me.
08 Sep 2026 11:05:49
I simply stated a fact, Inbeta. š If anything, after my first post I have simply agreed with the more knowledgeable. He is, in fact, a terrible, terrible left full. What Guardiola saw in him I shall never ever know.
08 Sep 2026 11:10:53
I'm not advocating that we buy him. However, if we were scouting Kerkez and his performances for us, we wouldn't be buying him either.
08 Sep 2026 11:12:17
Would be a very strange signing indeed.
If we look to add an LB next season, I suspect we will be looking at a youngster to deputise and challenge Kerkez, and/or look for a slightly different profile that can invert into midfield/play LCB.
08 Sep 2026 11:05:34
Can we have a poll on the most omniscient poster on here?
It's one thing for people to be ITK, but there are some who think an opinion is only valid if it's theirs and theirs alone! Sad really
08 Sep 2026 11:21:37
He performs better as a wingback when he has defensive cover. He struggles at fullback.
I was very surprised Pep went in for him.
08 Sep 2026 11:24:37
Florian, I don't really think you can use Guardiola as a reference. Yes, he signed him, but what happened once he arrived? 12 starts in the league last season. Doesn't scream confidence.
08 Sep 2026 11:28:10
Pep mustāve only seen the days he pocketed Salah. š
08 Sep 2026 12:03:11
He can be a terrible defender but a good footballer. He is a LW originally but got moved further and further back because of being too flashy with no end product. All the teams he played for he played in a back 5 because he can't defend until City, where he almost never plays anymore. Tottenham type player all day long.
08 Sep 2026 12:29:38
Anyone whose parents canāt spell Ryan properly should never be allowed to represent my beloved Liverpool FC.
Also, anyone who spells lose with two āoās can find another club. No time for that.
08 Sep 2026 14:10:12
Riosstepover, I think that joke got stuck in Portsmouth.
08 Sep 2026 15:08:39
It was only half a joke, Fly. I donāt want either Rayan at the club because theyāre both crap, but not wanting to be horrible, I made up a flippant reason. If it made you smile, then great, if not, then thatās great too.
As for the lose vs loose debate, Iām deadly serious. I lose all respect for anyone whose spelling and grammar are so loose that they canāt spell lose.
{Ed001's Note - what about our/are? That is surely worse?}
08 Sep 2026 16:47:09
As bad as their/there.
{Ed001's Note - and they're. Ugh. I have to read thousands of posts a day across the sites and see these all the time. For someone like me, who is OCD about it, it is painful.}
08 Sep 2026 16:53:21
Wasn't expecting that to cause such a stir! Well Ed001 summed it up nicely. 34 year old Alberto Moreno would still be a better signing that Ait-Nouri.
Air-Nouri did pocket Salah one game though, that is genuinely true. I remember the game Florian Musiala is referencing. I also remember being absolutely livid with how badly Salah played in that game, and coming on here to many people saying Salah was finished and that he should be sold to Saudi for whatever we could get. Even the greatest sometimes have absolute stinkers, I guess.
Ait-Nouri is an awful player nonetheless; one swallow does not a summer make. City got stung badly.
08 Sep 2026 16:55:45
Their their ed are's ain't that bad our they
{Ed001's Note - arghhhhh!!!}
08 Sep 2026 17:43:17
People who use "of" instead of "have" annoy me.
{Ed001's Note - please don't, these are all really setting me off!}
08 Sep 2026 17:43:21
City signed loads of Ait-Nouriās over the years but were just able to cast them aside and keep buying until they stumbled on a real player.
08 Sep 2026 19:01:38
See ASB?MKS said so.
08 Sep 2026 20:14:59
Rome, you should have known better.
09 Sep 2026 00:21:32
What about pacific for specific? Rarer but still annoying. Probably spoken more often than written.
09 Sep 2026 01:22:52
Your and you're are another one that grinds my gears.
09 Sep 2026 06:14:45
Defiantly (definitely) is the one that irks me the most. The root word is finite; it's already bad enough that some people spell it "definately", let alone a completely different word in "defiantly".
Another one that really bugs me, but more so for pedantry, is "nauseous". Something that is nauseous can make you feel nauseated; you cannot feel nauseous.
The word has been misused for so long that its new meaning has been added to the dictionary. I'm all for language evolving, but it should evolve due to new words being formed rather than people having poor vocabulary.
{Ed666's Note - have you ever had sexual intercourse?
09 Sep 2026 06:49:18
Sounds like the response of someone who just realised they have been using defiantly incorrectly for their entire 14 years of life.
09 Sep 2026 07:14:47
You definitely need to get out of your bedroom and go outside brown Jesus
09 Sep 2026 07:52:15
Not a lot to worry about, lads, have yis?
09 Sep 2026 08:41:40
Jeez! Between RP8 and Brown Jesus, I think I require English language grinds!
09 Sep 2026 08:41:47
I used to let it annoy me but then decided that language is basically about people being able to understand each other. If you can pretty much make out what people are saying, does it matter that much?
{Ed001's Note - it doesn't matter at all, but when you have OCD it becomes triggering!}
10 Sep 2026 12:07:46
"Oh, he pocketed Salah".
And when was tha, Flot? 2022? Come on, man.
Ait-Nouri is awful at defending and I wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.
Remember because we think Kerkez is poor doesn't automatically mean we should just go get any guy to replace him.
Said LB has to be of the level to drastically improve us and sorry, Ait-Nouri ain't been it since his Wolves days where he was an actual wingback, not a RB for the most part.
07 Sep 2026 23:36:32
There's a rumor that LFC have decided that Ronald Araujo will be made permanent. Any truth in that?
08 Sep 2026 00:10:44
Would make sense if the player himself is really happy. Not a bad fee at 47m and replaces Gomez.
08 Sep 2026 01:04:13
I saw a couple of clickbait articles about it - the usual speculation without attribution.
Would make perfect sense given how he has started, but letās see if his fitness woes are behind him.
Quite an easy one for the tabloids to speculate on, given how he has started. Weāll find out in just under a year.
08 Sep 2026 01:23:20
It would be a strange time to make the decision, DoF just left and only a few games in.
Having said that, he looks an asset.
08 Sep 2026 03:10:12
The pendulum swings again - Iām sure he was an injury-prone Barca cast-off with issues a couple of weeks ago. We are the Redmen and we are, very sadly, quick to judge and fickle.
08 Sep 2026 03:20:36
Why would anyone make that decision after 3 games? He might break his leg in a month.
08 Sep 2026 03:38:16
When it comes to loan signings, the bar for LFC is not exactly high! Araujo has played more minutes in 3 games than Arthur Melo, Ben Davies & Steven Caulker combined! If he plays another couple of games, we could add Ozan Kubak to that list of minutes played as well!
08 Sep 2026 05:47:57
To be honest, I think Iraola should start Araujo at CB to partner VVD and push Jacquet to the RB.
I think the team would be much stronger up back and I don't know why we haven't done this yet.
08 Sep 2026 06:33:32
As it stands, he looks like he might provide the required experience and quality the other (much) younger defenders in the squad would need in the event this is VVD's final year, for a decent price.
That said, I can't imagine such a decision has been made after 3 games when we have a full season to decide and more importantly to budget for such a decision.
If he carries on as he has started and remains selectable then yeah, fine.
08 Sep 2026 07:16:34
Wdw exactly, most didnāt want him as you said, Barca reject, another desperate Melo signing.
08 Sep 2026 07:20:52
Jury still out on him for me. Hopefully he will prove me wrong.
08 Sep 2026 08:43:58
Wouldnāt be jumping in that quick. Thought against Ipswich that if we were playing a better team here weād be in trouble. Thought people got in down his side a bit too easy. Add to that, heāll be 28 next summer and I just donāt see us given near Ā£50m for him.
08 Sep 2026 08:45:19
Donāt wanna get ahead of myself a couple of games in, but we already look better at the back, both look an upgrade on Konate, but early days.
08 Sep 2026 08:58:00
A bit early to be waving contracts around.
08 Sep 2026 08:56:56
That is a desperately low bar Andred71
08 Sep 2026 11:13:27
There's no pressure to even consider the option until the second half of the season at the earliest.
08 Sep 2026 12:21:00
What's the hurry to make such a decision now? It wouldn't make any sense. Granted, he's played very well so far, and his experience shows clearly on the field, but it's only 3 games. And we have Leoni and Ndukwe (hopefully) in the pipeline. Wait until January or February to start discussing it internally, and then see what comes out from the discussions.
It'd be super risky doing anything now given his history with various things. Let's wait and judge him on his performances on the field for at least 15-20 games, and take a call only then. And the club would never pay the agreed-to purchase price after a loan; nobody does.
08 Sep 2026 12:21:36
Agreed, FPF. There's a long way to go to make that decision.
08 Sep 2026 14:15:03
A bit early to decide. It is a decision that can be made at the end of the season.
08 Sep 2026 16:41:59
I think JJ could definitley play the RB position and would do it well. Kid looks like a proper footballer.
But I'm starting to see him as VVD's long term replacement and i reckon we get more in the long run letting him get his reps in, in the centre.
Same as everyone else said about Araujo, there's a lot to like. Just no need to start rushing to make it permanent, let it unfold naturally.
09 Sep 2026 09:34:28
Why not just enjoy the lad, and the team, playing better football than last season?
10 Sep 2026 12:09:26
Stradarosso, and why would we do that when Jacquet is excelling at CB and Araujo is doing the same at RB, exactly?
Cos changing for changing sake is just bonkers, man.
05 Sep 2026 12:11:44
Liverpool have made an official statement confirming that Richard Hughes has left the club.
05 Sep 2026 12:19:31
I thought he left back in April. š
05 Sep 2026 12:20:41
Bracing myself for the numerous Hughes comments incoming on this haha.
05 Sep 2026 12:21:23
Was it done via Internet Explorer, as we've known he was gone for months?
05 Sep 2026 12:33:55
We can finally move forward from last November now those 3 are gone. š
On a serious note, itāll be interesting to see if the new owners take full control before/after the winter window.
Maybe that decides who the new sporting director is.
05 Sep 2026 12:37:44
Good job they made the statement, otherwise no-one would have noticed. š
05 Sep 2026 13:26:38
He was never here. He'll be working from his Sandbanks home for Saudi too.
Hope the next guy attends games and shows up at AXA regularly.
The sporting culture of the club requires showing up, unlike Arne and Richard did.
05 Sep 2026 13:49:08
I hope it was along the lines of 'get f***ed'.
05 Sep 2026 14:42:51
Good riddance, the toxic trio are gone.
05 Sep 2026 16:42:44
They single-handedly dismantled and ruined all the work and progress achieved during the Klopp years. All in one year.
Shows you how long it takes to build something, and how long it takes to take it apart.
Complete idiots.
05 Sep 2026 16:15:40
Ed01 was right all all along about Edwards and Hughes. Hopefully we get it right this next go around
05 Sep 2026 18:41:20
ArAy, thatās a major over-exaggeration.
Under Hughes' tenure, we won the league in his first of two seasons, with a manager Hughes appointed. We had one bad season and then got rid of the manager.
If you think what Klopp has done has been dismantled, I would say be careful what you wish for. A dismantling of what Klopp built would mean weāre back in the Rodgers days, and that is very much not the case.
05 Sep 2026 18:52:24
Out of interest... is Ward still around?
Hughes and Edwards have been spoken about quite a bit recently... but I've not seen anything about Ward.
{Ed666's Note - yes ward is still at the club and is the technical director whatever that means
05 Sep 2026 19:41:02
I donāt see PSG, Man City or Real Madrid saying, āYou know what, letās get an ex-player in to handle an important part of the club.ā Just get the best person for the role, not Gerrard or Fowler simply because theyāre club legends. Iām sure the soon to be new owners, the 1892 Consortium, would be thinking along the same lines.
The dream would be Luis Campos, but letās be honest, thatās unlikely at best. Tiago Pinto would be a shout, and there are some very good sporting directors in the Bundesliga.
If we are going down the appointment from within route, then for me there is only one option, and thatās Pedro Marques. He appears to be doing a fantastic job in his current role, which I feel could potentially translate well into this vacant position. His skill set also seems to marry well with Andoniās philosophy and his work with talented young players.
06 Sep 2026 01:10:45
Viktor, I'm just going by what I saw. Of course, Slot has my gratitude and appreciation for winning during what most thought was a transition year. But how much of that was due to his leadership and guidance? Didn't you get the feeling that the players were on auto-pilot the first half of the season until Slot started meddling and putting his tactical brilliance into play? And Slot's second year was full on Slot all the way.
We saw the results.
And there can be no greater condemnation than Klopp himself saying that LFC was nowhere ready for the title and that he expected Chelsea to win it (my paraphrasing).
06 Sep 2026 06:18:56
@ArAy, we are playing CL football this season - the idea of the club being dismantled is an exaggeration.
06 Sep 2026 12:52:58
I hate winning leagues.
06 Sep 2026 12:25:45
I'm pretty sure those supposed quotes from Klopp are fake, Aray, what proof (from a reputable source) is there that he actually said those things?
06 Sep 2026 16:29:56
For crying out loud, anyone would think we were in the Championship.
Hughes, I assume, played a part in us signing Barcola and Munoz, and the loan of Araujo. I couldn't care less about him, personally.
I just wonder who folk are going to moan about now.
{Ed666's Note - Iām gonna moan about Kerkez because I canāt bitch about Cody anymore š¤š¤£
06 Sep 2026 17:28:22
I can't moan about Frimpong till he's back in the side again!
06 Sep 2026 18:26:44
I'm really quite confused as to why it's always the same here. I fail to see why our title winning side of two years ago hasn't been improved upon or why sufficient steps haven't been taken to address issues in the squad. You all (to be hyperbolic) read too much clickbait, I reckon. Decided it's a ship show before the show's begun.
06 Sep 2026 20:28:07
Patrick Burgher. What proof is there that you and I exist, other than you and I saying so?
06 Sep 2026 20:36:55
But you win, Patrick. I just fact checked the quote from Klopp and it is indeed a fake. šš¼ (God, I hate this internet thing. I already have trust issues as it is.)
06 Sep 2026 21:23:49
Iām going to whinge because they donāt do Bovril at half time anymore.
07 Sep 2026 09:03:57
How have we gone from āa new coach will turn it aroundā to āthe club has been dismantledā?
Honestly donāt think itās near as bad.
We have some gaps and they can be fillers but we also have a very promising group of youngsters coming through as well.
07 Sep 2026 11:00:36
Faith - we are not title contenders after spending £700m. You can call that dismantling, or just poor squad management and recruitment. Pota(y)to, pota(r)to.
07 Sep 2026 11:20:13
I'm registered blind, can I have that in Braille please?
07 Sep 2026 10:56:16
It's incredible how almost all of you read what you want to read, and then start feverishly punching away on your keyboards, with immeasurable glee and joy. I clearly wrote that the work and progress by Klopp had been dismantled. Nowhere did I mention the club being dismantled. Otherwise who was that whom i watched for 3 games in red shirts and liverbird badge?
Drama queens.
07 Sep 2026 11:57:02
"He was never here".
Well Pelican, can we say the opposite for 2 of his other bozo colleagues?
Not sure you can.
07 Sep 2026 12:44:29
No idea what the other two did, Oli.
Either way, we want people who want to work at and for the benefit of the best club in the world.
04 Sep 2026 00:40:34
Rumour on X that Lamine Camara has signed for LFC?
Must be some kind of pre-agreement if true.
04 Sep 2026 08:12:18
Now what have we been told about Twitter and social media, in general? If and when we sign somebody, the club will make an official announcement.
04 Sep 2026 09:08:49
You mean Indykaila... Yes, I saw that too.
We'll see, I guess.
04 Sep 2026 09:34:03
We will all be here to find out what has actually happened with the Camara saga.
04 Sep 2026 10:05:30
Well, the club's doing well to keep that one quiet 3 days after deadline day.
04 Sep 2026 10:18:03
Rumour on Twitter: Hughes started global warming and invaded Ukraine.
04 Sep 2026 10:38:33
Looks like we were definitely in for Sarr given Crystal Palace has officially come out and said he will need time to get over it falling through.
04 Sep 2026 11:40:52
Hughes was obviously very busy during the window, with his 2 jobs and all that.
So, so busy.
Are we saying he had to wait until the window closed to actually achieve anything?
04 Sep 2026 11:55:39
Liverpool should boycott any dealings with Palace. Are they that pissed that we sold them Sakho?
04 Sep 2026 11:58:51
If it's on X it must be true. š
04 Sep 2026 12:13:59
I suspect who the next Sporting Director is going to be a lot more interesting than January's business.
I assume the new investors will want to chime in on who that will be.
It would be nice to get someone who actually wants to spend time at the AXA, watch all of the games, and isn't going to be threatening to leave for Saudi 12 months in.
04 Sep 2026 13:29:36
I wouldnāt trust the original source of the story to get my fried chicken right.
04 Sep 2026 14:32:16
@stone Not until it is on Truth Social.
04 Sep 2026 14:36:45
Aye, OliRed, will definitely be interesting to see how the Camara situation develops. I guess he just couldnāt picture himself at Chelsea. Surprised he didnāt end up at Lens myself. Anyways, hope he stays focused and doesnāt get too negative.
04 Sep 2026 15:52:51
Indykaila only posted that LFC agreed personal terms. Well apparently we did that with so many players in the "silly" season: Diomande, Mbaye, Minteh, Sarr, but they also were never signed.
Indy has posted so many non-saying messages this summer, just to get viewers and replies because he did not have any real 'scoop'.
04 Sep 2026 16:02:14
Could be true but it would be pending a medical as thereās a chance he could get injured in the meantime.
04 Sep 2026 17:57:39
It's Titi Camara, it's an old, old article?
04 Sep 2026 18:28:10
I'm the new Sporting Director!
05 Sep 2026 01:59:12
Good old Titi. He flopped with old age, apparently.
05 Sep 2026 06:00:59
Get Klopp in for SD. Bit of part-time work, juggling with his post as Germany National Team Manager/Head Coach.
If STC can make it work remotely, I'd rather have Klopp. Knows the system, his impeccable intuition and player standard requirement (attitude, hardworker and good background) added to our available Data Driven ethos, would be perfect.
Far cry but much has been weird.
If not, Rangnick would do fine.
05 Sep 2026 07:15:25
I'm the new Sporting Director!
04 Sep 2026 23:35:50
Ed001 should be the new sporting director assisted by Ed025
05 Sep 2026 12:17:53
The eds definitely would be better than hughs and Edwards, Bill and ben would be better also š¤£
05 Sep 2026 16:45:13
It's just agreeing to personal terms with the player. Signing him will be altogether a different story, considering the history we have with Chelsea (Caicedo and Lavia).
06 Sep 2026 18:07:38
I can't stand X, and was never on Twitter. A load of shabite. Everyone thinks they're a journalist now. I'd sooner hear it on YouTube so you can call them out more as they're more accountable. In saying that (and Ed 2 said the same), we've always had a crazy transfer mindset in this city for decades, which is quite unique.
I think it stems from being a city with a village mentality and everyone knowing all of the gossip from the players in the ale house as they mixed with fans after a dozen bevvies. Now, we just have divvies with sensationalist articles and titles craving their dopamine rush.
