Good morning fellow Reds

May I start by saying we were very, very lucky to get a point yesterday. We will take it and move on. Lots of negative things from yesterday's game, so I will try focus on the positives.

Jaquet looked really good. Araujo also looked good when he came on as did Munoz. Minteh looks done. And we are walking away from Barcola which is a positive. Trust me.

Toodles.

Gentleman don't lie.

9

24 Aug 2026 07:05:32
Trust me trousers. A small bean regarded.

24 Aug 2026 07:07:39
Based on yesterday's game, I don't think Jacquet was that good. He didn't look the quickest and got outmuscled that could have led to a goal. Certainly no better than Konate, probably worse, if I'm honest. Based on yesterday's game, of course.

19

24 Aug 2026 07:14:02
I thought Jacques's decision making was questionable, and that his focus wasn't good enough. Felt Araujo looked better when he came on.

Walking away from Barcola but getting Minteh? Not sure that represents good news. Minteh is fine, but Barcola has been the first choice for a long time. If we don't secure that deal, it can only be described as incompetence.

22

24 Aug 2026 07:24:42
Seano_, it could also mean the terms are not acceptable.

I don't believe we would wait this long and walk away, but if we do then we will end up overpaying elsewhere. This late in the window, prices go up!

5

24 Aug 2026 07:32:17
Is this "The Truth Vol 2"?

Trust me....ffs, is that what this has become!?

"Trust me, Bro". 🤦

18

24 Aug 2026 07:35:02
I'm with Irish, Jacquet didn't look the quickest to me either. I appreciate that you shouldn't judge after one game (but I tend to!), but he isn't suddenly going to get quicker.

9

24 Aug 2026 07:46:28
Have a day off, Nellie's!

We're talking about a 20 year old CB making his Premier League debut with just 45 mins of football in his legs in the last 7 months. F***.

I personally thought Andoni should have given Araujo the start because Newcastle is always a physical battle, which he is man made for.

Jacquet is young and will be inconsistent. The speed people want to judge and criticise is honestly embarrassing.

34

24 Aug 2026 07:49:15
@The Irish Rover -

Jacquet, 70 mins played.

100% tackles won.

42 passes with 90.5% accuracy.

Not bad for his first game.

37

24 Aug 2026 07:55:35
Well that's me told off! He's young and he also cost 60 million. I expected him to be quicker. I judge really quick, it's what I do.

1

24 Aug 2026 06:43:08
Haha Ed78. well, it's been screaming out that we need a RW and not a LW for at least 3 months so I'm glad they got there in the end.

The Rio experiment on the Right is not working, I think between him and Gakpo we are covered for LW.

Spend that money on a world class CM who can actually put his foot in and make a challenge.

4

https://www.rangersrumours.co.uk/images/Ed0041.png avatar{Ed078's Note - and that "world class" CM currently available is...?

9

24 Aug 2026 06:48:02
I sense a certain amount of sarcasm here Eds? 🤔

5

11

24 Aug 2026 07:57:27
Population paste, I think you mean a Slot badger.

2

24 Aug 2026 08:05:57
The two mids who would have been genuinely worth pursuing were Rodri, who wanted Barca and Sidiki who Sunderland wouldn't want to sell.

2

24 Aug 2026 08:23:46
Jacquet's defensive performance was overall a little bit spotty, but it was his first game in the Prem as a kid after a long injury layoff. His game on the ball, though, was class. Having a center half who can step out with the ball, draw the press, and carry, or have the confidence to fizz one to feet through the lines is such a rare asset.

You can already tell that he has all the skills to make it as a top level modern center half.

19

24 Aug 2026 08:28:57
Until one of Robbo, The Fields, Ned and VG says we walked away, I will believe it, as I can't see them all saying we are basically sorted it and then go actually f*** that and waste time would be an absolute embarrassment.

7

24 Aug 2026 09:00:40
Side Note. It's become something of a problem that posters on here can't say they want signings coz they get shot down by the usual "die hards" on here that hardly go the match if ever.

This is a transfer website at the end of the day. We need new players. Let them discuss it. 😂

10

24 Aug 2026 09:03:34
Rio is not good enough for either wing, Skezza.

7

24 Aug 2026 09:07:25
Wirtz needs to play CF once Isak gets injured and we can go back to a more
solid MF 3. Defence starts from the front, and yet Edwards dream team signings are all lightweights.
The Edwards myth is well
and truly over.

4

24 Aug 2026 09:08:56
Rio and Frimpong must never be a pairing again down the right flank. Physically, they were just swatted away as flies, you have to have beef and muscle to play in this league.

Arajuo and Munoz were the RW pairing, muscle versus muscle. Quansah got hooked in his first game under Slot at half time because he was bullied.

The same thing happened yesterday down the right flank, and the same changes should have been made at half time also, like Heitinga did at Ipswich.

Only for the penalty, we would have deservedly lost.

5

24 Aug 2026 09:11:48
Surely nobody on here would disagree that we need signings, LFC8?

2

24 Aug 2026 09:16:59
If we don't buy Barcola in this window it will become a rumour/ruse of legendary status. It will supersede Simao and all the others.

5

24 Aug 2026 09:21:40
I agree with you fully, 007. If anyone thinks the squad does not require upgrading then to see that RHS yesterday has surely opened their eyes.

1

24 Aug 2026 09:23:24
There was zero threat from the wing, which allowed Newcastle to completely crowd the middle. A couple of wingers who can offer a threat, and it will free up the space for Wirtz and Isak. I'm not gonna slag off Rio, he was really poor, but he is a kid that is being asked to play out of position, because despite knowing that this would be the case for more than 6 months, we don't appear to have even settled on a RW target.

Gakpo took his goal well, but it came from him playing centrally. He seems much happier there than on the LW.

Barcola will make a difference when he comes in, and so will whichever RW we bring in. It will get better.

4

24 Aug 2026 09:24:31
I think our much stronger (in physical stature) left-hand side was exposed just as much, if not more, yesterday.

4

24 Aug 2026 09:32:34
@Ron, what do you mean if we don't get him? It's already done...

2

24 Aug 2026 09:41:38
That's what I saw, @KemlynKev. First goal was down the left, second goal started on the left (ok, and then went through midfield, before flirting with the right), but I worried more about opportunities created by Newcastle on our left than I did on the right.

I didn't think it was a great performance. But I trust the stats; we weren't lucky to come away with a draw. Over the entire game, we didn't deserve to lose, even with the penalty.

5

24 Aug 2026 09:52:27
Didn't look any different to last season. If we don't get a defensive midfielder, then the current options need to learn to sit, as we can't have both fullbacks and centre midfielders pushing on at the same time every time.

4

24 Aug 2026 09:57:14
Alan Hansen wasn't quick, was he rubbish?
Also, since when does 1 game make a player? The entitlement of some people.

9

24 Aug 2026 09:58:17
The ball over the top into either left or right caused us endless problems yesterday. It used to be knock it over Trent's head and you were in behind. Now it is knock it over the top to either side.

1

24 Aug 2026 10:12:29
Exactly, Reyrey1.

0

24 Aug 2026 10:19:55
Not sure if that's aimed at me, Jack Bower, but I never said Jacquet was "rubbish". My observation was the same as Irish. He didn't look the quickest. If that makes me entitled, I'll live with it!!

0

24 Aug 2026 10:26:51
Hall at LB had Rio in his pocket - what a signing that would be to replace Kerkez, who is a headless chicken at best, and LB is incredibly weak! Araujo at RB and Munoz RW would be a better option imo, and Isak needs to get more physical but he doesn't get service in his defence.

"Team in transition" can only be accepted for a limited period...

0

24 Aug 2026 10:38:23
Is Jacquet looking nervous more down to VVD making mistakes and blaming everyone else?

3

24 Aug 2026 10:41:09
If we're walking away from Barcola we'd still need another winger if we sell Gakpo with Minteh, because Rio is young, and the question is, can he play big matches and provide for the team, and the same with Munoz, so is there another winger that we're aiming for, and the other gap is the midfielder, which is fully in shadow.

0

24 Aug 2026 11:27:33
Shocking yesterday, but we got something from it. Move on.
We should have learnt that you cannot play two full backs that blast up the field, cannot deliver the ball in the box, so the move breaks down, and then we get slaughtered on the break. Instead of trying to take the ball, we drop off a full 50 yards as they waltz through the middle.

Munoz & Araujo did well, as did Jacquet. I would like to see Araujo instead of Frimpong.

Transfers? What is wrong with us. Do we have to keep buying injury-prone players? Frimpong, Gomez, etc., and now we want to pay £70M for Minteh who won't be available until October. For God's sake, get a grip!

1

24 Aug 2026 12:02:51
Fat Wallet nailed it in my opinion, I think all defence is looking worse due to VVD's play and finger pointing and arm waving. Young lads don't need that from their captain.

1

24 Aug 2026 12:07:57
Halls is a good player, with good consistent stats for at least a couple of seasons now. The Mancs want him apparently, hopefully they don't get him.

0

24 Aug 2026 14:07:40
Ed78.say that world class cm has a world class brother who plays rw and is also available.
Love the demand for these players but there's never actual suggestions of who they are.

Olise is mad keen to join i heard, diehard Liverpool fan since the womb, was going cheap too, bayern just don't want him. but we just weren't bothered making a bid.

1

23 Aug 2026 19:33:43
Hello all, pressed my man in Japan for any info on the youth league development facilities and he said it's pretty much completed now.

Interestingly, he said that Japanese papers are reporting Liverpool are one of the teams making enquiries about Kaishu Sano.

CM that plays for Mainz.

With the departure of Curtis, I guess that would make sense.

This is the first proper rumour I've had from him, so I'm interested to see how it turns out.

27

23 Aug 2026 20:30:14
Thanks Scintillate, unfortunately, I remember people saying he's got a dodgy past and some controversy about him. I'll say no more.
So it's a hard No from me.

17

23 Aug 2026 20:39:41
Scintillate, I would love to see him at Liverpool. He has all the attributes that AI needs in the middle of the park. Interesting that Mainz have put a completion date of August 27 to get it done, they need time to find a replacement. Might have some legs to it.

3

23 Aug 2026 20:48:05
We won the last 2 league with a Japanese in the team. Also he played really well in the World Cup.

6

23 Aug 2026 20:52:41
Thanks a million. 👍

5

23 Aug 2026 21:13:24
Skezza, thanks for raising this. I wasn't aware of anything, but after doing some research I agree with you, hard pass for me as well. Shame, very good footballer, not so good human by the looks of it.

6

23 Aug 2026 23:43:29
Don't want his sort. He's a vile man.

6

23 Aug 2026 22:34:47
He's the last player we should look at. The man is a rapist. Simple and plain. I'd be disgusted if we went for him.

12

24 Aug 2026 00:15:55
But he wasn't even charged or convicted of rape, Vik.

6

24 Aug 2026 00:31:52
That's not the point, though, Rigsby. Like Tom Robinson sang

"It's there in the papers, must be the truth."

4

24 Aug 2026 01:08:47
He may not have been indicted or convicted, but him making a public apology and saying that he's remorseful and that he made a mistake sounds like an admission of guilt to me.

6

24 Aug 2026 02:42:44
Rigsby will be saying we need to buy Mason Greenwood next.

3

24 Aug 2026 00:47:12
He paid the victim off and apologised. Not the action of an innocent man. If yous lot are happy with vermin like that then the standards are in the bog. He's vermin.

5

24 Aug 2026 00:55:18
And WDW defending a sex offender again.

Nice to see where your moral compass, you need your hard drive checking.

6

24 Aug 2026 06:40:08
WDW wasn't defending him. Calm down Vik, how many did you have last night?

6

24 Aug 2026 08:28:12
Drac, for what does it sound like an admission of guilt of? Rape?
He might be sorry and have made a mistake but was it for raping someone?
If it was then that sounds like a confession and he should have been charged and convicted but he wasn't.

The Fifth Element, how confident are you about that? Or are you making things up because you didn't like the facts that I posted?
Why not focus on the facts? It's ok to be wrong but making things up about a lie will make you even more wrong.

Vik, WDW and I never said he was an innocent man. Not being an innocent man doesn't mean you are a rapist though.
I'd be interested to know how much you know about Sano and/or the case. Someone being a rapist in your head doesn't mean they are a rapist. He doesn't need to prove he is innocent-and I can't prove he is innocent- but you can't prove that he is guilty of rape either.
So we don't know and it could well be defamation to call him a rapist.
And the old hard drive check chestnut? Why do people use that as an insult or a threat? 😂

4

24 Aug 2026 09:31:42
@Vik, you may need to up the dosage mate.

2

24 Aug 2026 09:54:59
Okay, let me clear a lot of this up because I also spend a lot of time in East Asia. Your source is full of it and would do well to be selective about what Japanese papers he reads. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that Liverpool will not be signing Kaishu Sano. There is no point in even discussing it further.

1

24 Aug 2026 10:06:51
I hope 'pressing your man in Japan' wasn't a euphemism, Scintillate.

1

24 Aug 2026 14:58:41
Looks like someone forgot to take their meds today.
All over a football rumour - comedy gold.

1

23 Aug 2026 18:44:25
Minteh personal terms agreed and £67M transfer negotiated between the clubs.

After that performance today, thank God.

27

23 Aug 2026 18:58:42
The fitness coaches are going to be busy.
Come December, with Leone, Ekitike, Bradley, and possibly Minteh back, we might have some depth.

10

23 Aug 2026 19:03:07
Mr Bojangles delivers!

3

23 Aug 2026 19:04:26
Why, is he coming to play as a DM?

19

23 Aug 2026 19:04:47
We've heard the same about Barcola wks too.
Until they are at the AXA, I'm believing nothing, sorry.

34

23 Aug 2026 19:04:52
Not sure a different winger is going to help with none of our midfield being willing to defend space.

24

23 Aug 2026 19:05:33
Happy with Minteh, but we need a 6. A bat in with sunglasses in the dark can see that.

25

23 Aug 2026 19:12:03
I really don't think hrs good enough, and not fit for a couple, maybe more months. It's a strange deal for me. Wait untill January and see.

8

23 Aug 2026 19:13:13
We're missing Ekitike and Bradley quite badly.

8

23 Aug 2026 19:21:34
What's the excuse going to be to Barcola not being announced today then.

6

23 Aug 2026 19:25:20
We need a 6 and an 8.

5

23 Aug 2026 19:26:29
Yeah, he might actually be able to play before Christmas.

3

23 Aug 2026 19:32:43
I think today showed we have serious issues at both full back positions. Both Kerkez and Frimpong are nowhere near good enough.
That's where we need to be spending money.

24

23 Aug 2026 19:34:34
Right back is a glaring problem. Frimpong can only cover right wing in certain formation, and to come in late when points are secured.

7

23 Aug 2026 19:36:48
Can he play in midfield?

1

23 Aug 2026 19:37:13
Never known a club to be so weak in negotiations, you know. We agree personal terms with so many, then drag our feet over the price. Arsenal, City, etc. just get it done. Barcola could have been in and playing today, making a difference. It's glaringly obvious we need a 6. We have tried the last 4 seasons to get one. Just happy to take gambles on games. I think last season's window has destroyed the team.

Reasons like not announcing transfers on a weekend is so bizarre. What is the actual difference? City announced Bouaddi an hour before kick-off. Just so strange from the outside looking in. Based on that today, we are seeing the same stuff as last season.

And this isn't a dig at any ITKs, just a match going fans opinion on the football team.

Thanks for listening

16

23 Aug 2026 19:39:28
I doubt that either of those would have made a jot of difference today, Overkill.

1

23 Aug 2026 19:42:22
On the positive side, Munoz looks pretty solid. He gave us something else and I can see him pushing for a starting place. Jaquet also looks decent, and Araujo looked confident.

Taxi for Frimpong, Isak, Kerkez and Rio....

19

23 Aug 2026 19:52:52
Buy a 6 sell Wirtz? Controversial.

9

23 Aug 2026 20:15:00
You're right Origi, we've accepted a way of working on and off the pitch that isn't for winners. Iraola has a big task to turn us back into something better.

6

23 Aug 2026 20:16:00
Munoz looked far better than Rio today, he needs to start ahead of him in the next match.

24

23 Aug 2026 20:23:45
"I doubt that either of those would have made a jot of difference today."

Given the chances we created today, we had a 60% chance of winning (albeit with the stats skewed a bit with the late penalty), but Newcastle away and only a 33% chance of losing (without the penalty) wasn't as bad as we might have thought.

Most likely score was 1-2 Liverpool.

Happy to post the stats each week. I have the % chances for win/loss/draw for other matches as well, but that would be a bit of typing, so would anyone be interested in seeing them in the coming weeks?

14

23 Aug 2026 20:26:44
Did someone coming to a rumor page just say I won't believe anything till they're at the AXA?

Take the page off your bookmarks then.

On the match, full backs are a problem, but otherwise I'm quite positive about what I saw. Still don't understand why Dom didn't drop Wissa in his own half.

8

23 Aug 2026 20:33:03
Not controversial at all mate. I'd sell Wirtz too. There are not many of them I'd keep. We have gone from TAA and Robbo to Frimpong and Kerkez, who are both woeful. Our midfield does not take responsibility to track runners or put in a tackle. Awk, I can't even be bothered talking about the rest of them.

Not good.

The Barcola issue is being reported by most reliable journos saying both clubs are still miles apart in valuation. I see us missing out on this one and Arsenal sniping in. Hughes out, hopefully very soon.

10

23 Aug 2026 20:39:27
Not really, Red Reaper. Not for me anyway.

1

23 Aug 2026 21:07:43
Wonder if that plane has landed yet.

3

23 Aug 2026 21:22:50
You can't blame Wirtz for the team's woeful performance. He was the only player linking up play. Our other midfielders went on walkies, and left a massive hole in midfield. When they did contribute, it was simple passes. The occasional Gravy turn and dribble isn't good enough. And surely one sticks if the other goes forward?

It's all well and good saying Iraola doesn't play with a defensive midfielder, but your CMs need to be able to make a bloody challenge.

Our CMs can't tackle, intercept, or challenge. They may run, catch up with the opposition, but then do nothing... It's really weird.

And Rio isn't ready to be a starter. Needs more development. Specifically, needs to learn to dribble with his head up.

9

23 Aug 2026 21:25:15
Definitely landed, tracked it all the way, never used flight tracker before, it's amazing.

2

23 Aug 2026 21:26:38
Midfield was a shambles today, lads. So were the fullbacks. Kerkez is not good enough, either is Frimpong. Don't really know what to say. Gravenberch and Szobozlai do not do the basics in terms of covering space when full backs bomb forward. Exact same problems as last season.

Only difference is, our team is a lot weaker now and VVD is another year older. He still thinks he is too cool to run or tackle also, so I really don't know what to say. Munoz looked good and so did the other wee lad, Koumas.

7

23 Aug 2026 22:04:51
I think Kerkez struggled today, as did Rio and Isak, but we at least had a directness and threat that we'd lost under Slot.

In terms of remaining business this window, I would love to see a top 6, two wingers and an LB. I think people hate on Frimpong too much, Kerkez feels a lot more of a risk to me.

5

23 Aug 2026 22:19:46
I personally like Frimpong. Seems like a nice fella. But he isn't good enough. The players we have let go for free and ones who have moved on, and how we have brought in to replace them will define our next 4 or 5 years. I can only hope Bezo and co start pumping in money for a rebuild. I know people are worried about the squad depth, but I am worried about the first 11. Doesn't look like a team, and too many egos afraid of doing hard work.

Then, just absolute chaos at defence because of the non existent midfield. We knew all summer we needed to replace Salah and get a right back in. We haven't done anything and the window has been an embarrassment. But, it is still open. But by the time it closes we could be 4 or 5 points behind Arsenal. Munoz and Koumas look great.

0

23 Aug 2026 22:40:01
We should have gone to 3 at the back at half time today, and got the full backs off the pitch as they were useless. Would have allowed us to either put another body in midfield or add another attacking option earlier in the game.

The subs made were far too obvious in my opinion, although I did like the look of Munoz. He needs to start the next game ahead of Rio.

3

23 Aug 2026 22:50:50
Wirtz and Isak
To
Go down as the two
Biggest flops in football history. We can finally put the Edwards myth to bed. Iraola would not have chosen Isak, Wirtz, Frimpong or Rio. Rio will
Never suit an Iraola
Side - he does nothing but run and step over.
Araujo will kick ass at rb and CB.

6

24 Aug 2026 00:04:57
I thought Gravenberch went too far forward. I really dont rate him, cant he just play a number 6 and give our full backs a chance to go forward so they are not blamed for being attacking when required.

Also Rio, omg he was shocking, he needs to play his preferred right hand side, but our best player was Gakpo.

The player we want to sell just doesnt make sense.

Koumas and Munoz fantastic, loved them coming on, changed the game a bit, maybe they both start next game.
Wirtz on bench with Grav. Macallister maybe starts next time.
Szob out, vice captain needs to step up and not for the penalties and free kicks.

0

24 Aug 2026 02:19:03
I like Rio, but he's clearly not a solution on the right. He needs to play on his preferred wing.

Not sure why everyone is slating Kerkez. I didn't think he was bad today.

I actually didn't entirely hate this match.

Always going to be a work in progress adjusting to a new system, but there were the makings of a team in there. Already an improvement over boring Slotball. I'll take it at this point in the season.

3

24 Aug 2026 06:37:16
You may be right, Shanks, in terms of the result, but I think both improve on what we have at rb and cf now. Reality is, both are injured, and will be for a while, so I know it's how it is. A disciplined midfield is probably more important.

2

24 Aug 2026 08:16:13
Baldrick, you need to lay off the lager posting. Wirtz as biggest flop in football history? You're having a laugh. If people can't see he is one of our best players, then there's no hope.

Everyone is so reactionary, making decisions on players after 45 minutes of football in the first match of the season. Half of you would still be whinging if we signed Mbappe, Rodri, and we cloned Maldini.

3

24 Aug 2026 08:40:11
So, I am fully sober on a Monday morning, and I will voice my opinion. I think Wirtz has been very very poor all of last season. I saw nothing yesterday to suggest that this is going to change or that he fits whatever it is we are trying to do.

24 Aug 2026 09:16:08
Agreed, Overkill, on the midfield. We need a top level guy in there to be competitive. And sn + inbeta, Wirtz has shown very little so far to justify his fee and hype surrounding his abilities. If he continues in this vein he is undoubtedly a bad transfer. However I believe that he is worth real assessment come next May. If we have Barcola and Rayan or Mbyae or whomever on the wings he should be a totally different football player and the team will benefit from that set up.

imo the full back situation is as important to solve as the porous midfield, though. We'll get nowhere with Frimpong, that's for sure. Why in the name of God we didn't pursue Kounde is beyond me. He's the player we require from Barca, not Gavi.

1

24 Aug 2026 10:21:07
We need to give the manager some time to tweak things and adjust players, we can't sell everyone, so some may end up being surplus and some will make it. Then others will come back from injury and things will be shuffled again.

It's hard luck that some of the injured are really needed now, but we need to have faith that things will work themselves out. We could still sign a game changer or two this week, so fingers crossed and let's keep the faith.

Private jet leaving Le Bourget @ 19:20 this evening. Is tomorrow the day we hear something?
YNWA.

14

23 Aug 2026 09:34:36
Sorry that's just me, mate.

17

23 Aug 2026 10:02:28
Where is the plane going to land? We have a right to know.

5

23 Aug 2026 10:27:11
Who is close
to that French town?

1

23 Aug 2026 11:16:14
That's just BarryinLouth on his way back from Lourdes. He likes to stop off in Paris for fresh baguettes after a long day of healing the sick.

24

23 Aug 2026 12:02:01
Shouldn't that be BarryinLourdes?

15

23 Aug 2026 12:34:12
Both Barcola & Mbaye are not in the squad list against Rennes. I would presume that they would make their way to Liverpool and have their medical, after watching Liverpool beat Newcastle.

Just a gut feeling, nothing concrete. Just positive vibes.

10

23 Aug 2026 13:17:40
It's classified as Paris Le Bourget:

flightradar24.com/airport/lbg

The flight is scheduled to land at Liverpool Airport, so maybe there's something to this.

5

23 Aug 2026 14:17:44
I told you I told you that you could've jumped in my jet with me, Taurus.

4

23 Aug 2026 15:20:13
Strange, it's leaving JLA @ 16:00, staying an hour, then coming back????
YNWA.

23 Aug 2026 16:58:35
IannotinaRush, it's a Liverpool-based jet.

I've been doing some reading, and there does seem to be evidence to suggest it's been used by the club in the past. For example:

June 20th 2025, 6 days before we officially signed Kerkez, it flew from L'pool to Bournemouth and flew back 2 days later.

23 June 2025, it flew L'pool to Belfast and back, could be related to Bradley, who had been on international duty just 13 days prior and whose family lives about 1h30 from Belfast Airport.

19 May 2024, it flew between L'pool and Cardiff 4 times. Interestingly enough, this was Klopp's last game at Anfield. No idea who it could have been on it though. It's a toss-up between John Toshack and Nat Phillips. 🤣

Could all be totally unrelated, but I thought it might be worth noting.

5

23 Aug 2026 18:35:45
Hope there's a few extra seats on there for Dembele, Doue and Vitinha as well lol.

2

23 Aug 2026 19:40:12
Just coming over Stafford now.

1

23 Aug 2026 20:38:00
I see it's landed now. Did we see who got off?

0

23 Aug 2026 20:23:55
Is there a flight number now?

0

23 Aug 2026 23:54:58
It's the new Amazon Prime delivery service from Mr Bezos. Gets a special discounted rate at Liverpool Airport now.

Should complete the signing of another South American prospect in the next few days. Looks like the release clause has been paid.

12

22 Aug 2026 21:59:27
Any clues on nation, Billy?

2

22 Aug 2026 21:59:33
Who, Billy? What's the South American prospect's name?

1

22 Aug 2026 22:07:09
Orozco from Colombia. EUR6m release clause.

Cheers

DjimiT.

11

22 Aug 2026 23:19:42
The guy that just joined Utd this summer, Djimi?

5

22 Aug 2026 23:35:55
Cristian Orozco joined Man Utd.

Djimi is referring to Matias Orozco, who reportedly has a EUR6m release clause.

Dunno why Djimi gets so much grief on here. He's got as much right this summer as anyone else; that being absolutely nothing so far to be fair.

57

22 Aug 2026 23:39:21
No, Florian.

Same nationality, same surname, same age, same position, different player. Honestly. Don't know how you thought they were the same player. 😂

13

23 Aug 2026 00:05:24
All people need to say is nice 1, Djimi, nothing else. 👍🏻

23 Aug 2026 00:45:22
You mustn't be paying much attention then, MK, a broken clock is right twice a day. In less than a week he said the Barcola deal was done, then he said it was nowhere near done, then he said Barcola wanted Arsenal, then he said Liverpool were the ones that walked away, then he said it was on again, then he said it was off.

and he had a go at Vic while he was doing it, tried to belittle Vic and his stance more than once, in fact. DjimiT is a clown.

24

23 Aug 2026 04:51:13
MK, lol.

6

23 Aug 2026 06:48:53
Chewy, everything I've said is correct.

You seem fixated by VG. Almost like you have a posted in your bedroom of him.

VG said 6 weeks ago, Barcola was done, and as far as I recall, we haven't seen him in a Liverpool shirt, and he certainly isn't in the squad today.

I've provided an explanation on everything.

For the record, and as a personal opinion, I think walking away is a negotiation tactic, but Liverpool have absolutely told PSG under their current demands they intend to move on to other targets.

Cheers.

DjimiT.

13

23 Aug 2026 07:55:42
How it was correct that there were going to be bad news in the next 48 hours - there wasn't. And that Barcola led Liverpool on and he wanted Arsenal - obviously false. Scaremongerer.

7

23 Aug 2026 08:19:02
I'm actually more impressed with the people remembering which poster got things right or wrong and what they said in each post than if anyone actually has correct information.

17

23 Aug 2026 08:29:58
Chewy, I'm not interested in a debate about who's more ITK. Was simply pointing out that Djimi posts rumours on a rumours page and gets grief for it. Honestly I'm taking everything posted on here now with a pinch of salt.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but nobody on here called the signings of Araujo and Munoz or the bid for Minteh. Seems to me like there aren't actually many credible leaks.

21

23 Aug 2026 08:40:53
Correct, MK, although I did confirm that Liverpool were trying to sign a Spanish defender. I just couldn't get the name.

Those saying about the bad news, MacAllister was the bad news, as I've posted. He wants out, but won't be sold as our target moved on.

Arsenal were all over Barcola. That has never changed. Again, Rtfp.

One thing I am 100% certain on is Barcola is not done. It may get done, but for now we've walked away.

Cheers.

DjimiT

Another thread of those sharing info getting bashed, and trying to defend themselves.

Which is more probable... posters stop having a go at those who post info, or those who post info simply not posting anymore????

For me... I'm grateful for the info shared, and find it interesting which happens and which don't.

It's not the end of the world if the posts happen or not.

Each to their own at the end of the day, but being a poster on this site comes with an increasing demand of having a thick skin.

11

23 Aug 2026 08:52:06
Ultimately, no one on here has called much right this summer. Even the OG ITK's said Diamonde was done and look what happened. Same with Joao Gomes, went to Villa. Barcola was apparently due to sign 5 weeks ago. Ultimately, it’s obvious the club have tightened up on leaks this summer so I'd take everything you read on here with a pinch of salt.

7

23 Aug 2026 08:56:23
Exactly, Mk, I've started to think the ITKs actually are the site owners. Just been winding us up all summer to keep the site visits up. Ha.

Nah, but seriously, even if people think they are being fed information, how would they know if it's true, fake, if it's a tactical move to actually go after a different target, we could well want someone, make a bid, they don't want us. Etc.
Until a player is technically signed, nobody on this site or any media knows it's gonna happen.

The site just used to be fun, some posters you believed might have some connections, but more people understood that even their info could be true one day, but the situation changes the next. It now seems like a bitching fest. "My tedious information is more credible than yours."
Relax, nothing said on this or any site changes anything Liverpool do.

8

23 Aug 2026 09:45:23
MK and others are right. Nothing has been called right this summer by the ITKs or the pretenders. Leaks have probably been minimised, and agents talk can be right one minute and wrong the next, or never based on fact in the first place, and basically just gossip. This is a rumours page after all, so that's the best spirit to view it in.

I predict we'll sign a player in the next seven working days, sell someone and loan someone. One of them is a marquee. My gardener told me, he cuts grass at one of our director's house. He said he's a nice bloke, Scottish guy, but always forgets where things are, as he spends most of his time away. That's a true story.

4

23 Aug 2026 10:52:04
Must be bad if we've walked away now after 2 or 3 months of talks.

1

23 Aug 2026 11:13:10
Oh yeah, that's right, DJimi. Thanks for reminding me. The best part of it all was that you made 6 or 7 completely different, totally conflicting claims about Barcola over the space of a week, AND you claimed that everything you shared was absolutely 100% correct! Now I don't know about you, but if I said the sky was blue today and green tomorrow, one of those claims is wrong.

You were changing you're story on a daily basis. Your first big change was from "deals practically done" to "we're miles apart on valuation", and as you so kindly pointed out to Vic when you tried to start a pi**ing contest with him and belittle his info, those 2 versions of events can't be true at the same time, so I'm left wondering, what magic are you made of that they're both true when you claim them?

There's no universe in which you can flip-flop 7 days a week and be right every time. At least have the humility to say "not sure about that last one lads" or "my previous info was bad", you know, like a sane person. You can't just give 7 different versions of events and claim them all to be true. They've padded rooms set aside for people like that.

Now I do hope you keep posting because all info is welcome, and the more the merrier, but please, don't start a pi**ing competition with trusted posters, don't try and belittle their stance, don't have a go at the entire community for "not liking your posts", and for the love of Fowler, don't make out like everything you share is Gospel.

23 Aug 2026 12:16:12
Not sure if this is relevant, but I'm in Paris for the weekend with the Mrs. I'm flying back today, so went for some lunch in a nice little restaurant, a little back street place.
We ordered our garlic snails and a warm baguette to share, and in walked Barcola!
He ordered a half lager shandy and a rum chaser, sat down, looked over and said bonjour!
We had a great chat about the Renaissance and finished in agreement that Marrafat peas were far better than garden peas.

As I was leaving, he asked who was my team in England. Proudly, I announced Liverpool. Barcola said great, and he was waiting for the Bablecopter and will see me soon!!
One of those statements is a lie! 👀👀

5

23 Aug 2026 12:46:45
No chance Marafat peas are better than the garden variety, I'm onto you, Heighway.

I said it a week ago and I’m saying it again, we are trying to sign Both Barcola and Mbaye!

I suspect we will hear something early next week, Hughes doesn’t do weekends 😂 (that’s a joke by the way)

Cheers.

20

22 Aug 2026 16:12:11
Minteh seems most advanced.

2

22 Aug 2026 16:17:17
It's just a matter of time for Minteh. I expect we'll hear more within the next 72 hours.

7

22 Aug 2026 16:41:36
72 hours?

Surely, you mean 4,320 Mintehs.

64

22 Aug 2026 16:45:30
This copycat style of pretending to be in the know is getting contagious and tiring. You are not saying anything new or anything that has not been said already by the in the knows we know and trust. Robbo, Carra, TF, Ned and VG. By all means comment, but why the "I told you weeks ago" style.

42

22 Aug 2026 16:52:41
Every 2nd poster talks now as if they know something. At the same time, not one person on these pages had a clue about our last three signings. Couldn't make it up. 😂

48

22 Aug 2026 16:59:53
Uchafu, are you a sensing person? Haha, somehow I'm sensing Mbaye will be ours too.

0

22 Aug 2026 17:05:24
Hearing it wks now, lad.

3

22 Aug 2026 17:07:44
Minteh is overrated in my eyes, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. Why don't we go for Sarr from Palace? Premiership proven, gets goals in an average side, rapid and a level above Minteh. No one has gone for him, tbf. Strange!!

12

22 Aug 2026 17:12:20
It was bound to happen with all this "ITK" and "IKFA" stuff going on, endlessly.

I told you so. 😜😂🤣

6

22 Aug 2026 17:14:38
I don't believe any ITK other than The Truth. The Truth is always the truth and 💯 guaranteed because the Truth will set us free.

10

22 Aug 2026 17:15:25
Bless you.

Where's the Truther when you need him? He is da man!

11

22 Aug 2026 17:32:13
I would prefer someone coming on and saying what the OP says, than the posts complaining about the posts.

Let everyone say their piece.

4

22 Aug 2026 17:42:33
Florian, I'm starting to wonder how many of the ITKs are rival fans on here taking the piss

Tbh, it'd be hilarious for a rival fan on here pulling our leg then watching the fallout lol.

7

22 Aug 2026 17:51:05
UchafuRED

Hughes doesn't seem to do many week days either it seems!

7

22 Aug 2026 17:52:51
May I give some unasked for advice to all these new posters asking for plaudits for "predicting" what is already in the public domain:

None of the handful of posters who have a track record in predicting certain signings ever seek applause. Not one of them starts a post with "as I said last week" etc. They give information just to be generous, and always put their hands up when they haven't predicted a signing (eg Munoz).

I say this with the best will in the world: there is nothing more unattractive than someone who blows their own trumpet, and those who seek to do so on the back of other peoples work.

Worth bearing in mind. When some of you join the workforce, you will find yourselves disliked by colleagues, and dispensed with pretty much immediately.

22

22 Aug 2026 18:00:24
A terrible brass band where they blow someone else's trumpet.

Barcola to be announced Monday with the full kit on pictures by tea-time.

5

22 Aug 2026 18:15:08
You only starting Faith? I've been that way since a load of them first appeared suspiciously close to the passing of Ed002. I don't pay no heed to them I just like the conversations after their pearls of wisdom.

12

22 Aug 2026 19:20:56
Can't tell my source, but he works with a guy who knows the aunty of one of the girls who works in the shop. Now she's told them that she saw the latest Amazon wishlist of Bezos whilst dropping some shirts off, and on it was Mbappe, Saliba (not injured, just negotiating with Lfc), Pedri, Olise, kavashaklaka.

Oh ye, n he crossed out Barcola and Mbaye, so it should all be sorted by end of the window, so just trust the process, guys, it's happening.

4

22 Aug 2026 20:06:14
Kopite, sure we'd get them in about 48hrs with Prime.

1

22 Aug 2026 21:25:15
Minteh offer was also sent out to send a clear message to PSG that Mbaye is not the only option we are pursuing and that Lfs won't overpay for him.

2

23 Aug 2026 08:03:12
Lots of people seem to have these great contacts and know the ins and outs of every transfer.

Yet no one seems to know how to get tickets.

Any chance of a ticket to Anfield? No, sorry, I can't help with that, but what I can do is share extremely confidential financial information with you from inside the club. 🤣

Welcome to football online in 2026.

I’m hearing that Adam Wharton is currently on Merseyside…. from a very trusted source.

41

22 Aug 2026 14:24:39
Just seen him in the Greggs on Tuebrook. Getting a bacon and egg and a latte, couple of those iced fingers. Doing his medical in a bit.

25

22 Aug 2026 14:27:19
At the Hill Dickenson stadium, perhaps?

18

22 Aug 2026 14:28:04
Or should I say "sauce"!

4

22 Aug 2026 14:30:21
The same Adam Wharton that Palace rejected a City enquiry from, saying he was not for sale, two days ago?

8

22 Aug 2026 14:30:39
Must have a twin brother!!

0

22 Aug 2026 14:32:01
McMurfo, I think you'll find he's tied up this afternoon.

7

22 Aug 2026 14:36:25
Just watching him warm up, no sign of the bacon and egg McMurfo.

8

22 Aug 2026 14:35:04
Nice one Mytton!

Is your trusted source the BBC website?!

😂

11

22 Aug 2026 14:37:53
McMurfo and Burgher, well done, any others?

6

22 Aug 2026 14:48:00
He'd want to be or he's going to miss his match against Everton. 😂

7

22 Aug 2026 15:06:05
I was just having a coffee with him in moose ...

2

22 Aug 2026 15:48:29
I saw him down Edge Lane popping a wheelie on a rented scooter.

He said "alright laa" as he held up his can of pop.

It was a can of Barr Cola. Make of that, what you will.

10

22 Aug 2026 16:47:23
Mbaye the way. He was never in Greggs, it was all a joke. He was at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. 😏

1

22 Aug 2026 17:03:57
Palace stated ages ago they wanted to keep Wharton for another year so they are not selling. Which is a good thing really, cause they'll be looking on par with Elliott Anderson's price. May calm down next season and get him cheaper than that. Unless City offer them money they can't refuse now cause Rodri has left a massive hole in that midfield.

1

22 Aug 2026 18:28:46
Wharton rated poorly against Everton. While one game doesn't mean much, I've never seen him stand out in a match.

2

22 Aug 2026 13:39:21
Hi all,

Liverpool have not walked away from the Barcola deal. Absolute silly talk.

56

22 Aug 2026 14:22:48
If the Isak saga taught us anything, it's that LIV won't walk away without getting what they've invested months on. It just means we may be set to splash another record cash for the lad now. I still think it will happen. Thanks VGD.

8

22 Aug 2026 14:46:46
Have no idea why people are saying this, VG. I'm assuming the price push on Mbaye was the hold up due to double deal.

Getting Minteh in was smart as they've wanted him for ages and now they can say to PSG...

well we've got RW coming in and force the price they want for Mbaye... get the double deal over the line.

Are you expecting it to be announced Sunday? Feels right on timing.

2

22 Aug 2026 14:52:31
Not sure about that Ugbes, check out Diomande.

4

22 Aug 2026 15:00:56
I've no idea when it's going to be announced or when he's gonna fly for a medical. It feels like every time I hear something positive, there's some sort of hold up. Deal will still get done but I haven't a notion when it's gonna be pen put to paper.

22

22 Aug 2026 15:12:57
Maybe it'll be in January?

2

22 Aug 2026 14:51:32
PSG know that hinges and Edwards folded re isak last summer and are waiting for the same. Hughes doesn't do good value, he likes a good rogering

2

22 Aug 2026 15:29:12
Cheers, Victor.

2

22 Aug 2026 16:13:23
Ron, I believe Diomande and Rocnation sabotaged that move. PSG are not behaving unprofessionally. They know what they want and are sticking by it. Diomande was a relief for me, tbh. Imagine paying the stupid money RM paid for a 1 season wonder in the Bundesliga, who didn't do anything worthwhile at Leganes before joining Leipzig.

We may have dodged a bullet there. I still think we will see this one through.

4

22 Aug 2026 17:18:58
Diomande is going to tear it up and everyone is going to realise that he is a worldly who got away.

1

22 Aug 2026 17:53:35
Cheers, vg.

1

22 Aug 2026 18:51:02
The rumour weeks ago was deal agreed, to be confirmed when their new signings were confirmed. Then it was delayed due to not agreeing the payment structure or delayed to enable Mbaye to be confirmed at the same time. Basically, posters are making stuff up to appear knowledgeable.

As for all the posts on whether it would be announced last Monday, or Friday, or Monday next week. We could all pick a day and have a one in five chance of being right. Transfers are rarely announced at weekends.

So, where are we at.

I don't think we'll walk away despite the lack of a deal so far, but there's still a chance it won't happen.

Spurs will probably still be after Gakpo given their disastrous performance today. I think we'd still want to sell to part fund Barcola and Minteh so that will influence what we will pay for those players, and when we will finalise those deals if at all.

In terms of learning from Isak, I'd say we haven't learnt, but other clubs have learnt our behaviour and are exploiting it. That's why it's taking so much time.

4

22 Aug 2026 20:19:16
How did we cave for Isak? Newcastle were saying he wasn't for sale until the day before they sold him. They even put a statement out saying he wasn't for sale unless they got what they wanted, which by all accounts was £150m.

We waited until the end of the window and it was Newcastle who caved and let us have him for 25m less.

I know some of you want to find anything to criticise Hughes for, but at least try to make it a little bit true.

We lost out on Diomande but were still interested, just not at the price quoted. PSG tried too, but they got nowhere either. Does that mean they are useless in the transfer market too?

I listen to this constant whining about how bad Hughes is, but nobody actually has any real evidence of him doing a bad job.

It's just whining because he didn't buy the player you want or when you wanted it to happen. It's crazy.

He could've just given Newcastle £150m for Isak, Leverkusen £135m for Wirtz, Leipzig £135m for Diomande and PSG £145m for Barcola, but his job is to get the best deal for Liverpool, not just pay what the selling club wants.

If you were expecting Newcastle to ask for £150m for Isak, but sell him for £80m, you're in total dreamland.

The only thing that made it take so long is they wanted a replacement, which they got late. It wasn't some powerplay by Hughes. You are so arrogant in your ignorance that you refuse to accept that you know nothing and believe, despite all evidence to the contrary, that you know better than everyone else. It is astonishing.}

Why don't you say what you really think Ed 🤣

Are you saying they didn't want £150m?

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - I said that is not what they asked for. Your English comprehension is extremely lacking. I am sure they wanted much more, but they never asked for more. Doyou not understand why Edwards & Hughes never even got offered new deals?

So why have they allowed Hughes to oversee another crucial summer transfer window instead of just sacking him if he's that bad?

I mean, if it's true and we could've got Isak and Wirtz for much less but Hughes is so bad at negotiating that we ended up paying more, why on earth would they give him the company credit card for another summer of spending?

Surely it would be cheaper to just get him out and pay him off than allow him another summer of crap negotiating and overspending?

Do you not see that your explanations make no sense at all? FSG are far better businessmen than you or I so they wouldn't allow him to spend another penny surely?

Unless Hogan has now taken over, in which case people should be aiming their wrath for the Barcola negotiations towards him rather than Hughes?

I've no doubts there have been issues and the club want a change but they must have faith that Hughes can handle the summer negotiations before he leaves otherwise he'd be nowhere near it.

You are totally correct by the way, I am totally ignorant to how good Hughes is at his job or how negotiations have gone for any players he's signed. i'm just looking at the information that's in the public domain and drawing my own conclusions. Isn't that all we can do?

You are totally ignorant to how negotiations go between Hughes and representatives from other clubs too so you are doing the same as me but our conclusions differ. That's fine. It would be boring if we all thought the same.

I'll accept my ignorance and my arrogance, I know who and what I am but I'd suggest, and I don't mean to be rude, that you are every bit as arrogant as me which is why you fly off the handle whenever anyone questions your opinion.

I think we both need to accept that we can't always be right all of the time.

Anyway, peace and love to you Ed. I realise you'll probably ban me again now because you can't have anyone questioning you and that's fine it's your site.

Take it easy mate, no hard feelings from my side.

https://liverpool-rumours.co.uk/uploads/thumb_Ed001.png avatar{Ed001's Note - and what were they meant to do when they only stepped in too late to plan for the window? Along with them being in the middle of the sale of a large portion of the club, which would put someone else in a decision making position, who might want to bring in their own man as SD.

If I flew off my handle every time someone questions my opinion, I would be doing it constantly on every site. I rarely bother to even comment. There is a reason you are pretty much the only person Ed25 has asked to be banned and a reason I speak to you the way I do - because it is the way you talk to others. I just respond the same way you speak. I am not annoyed, you are irrelevant to me one way or the other, there is nothing to get annoyed over.

As for your idiotic comment about banning you for questioning me, I don't do that. If I was stupid enough to do that, there would be no one on the sites ever, as at some point everyone disagrees.}

No need to bring Ed025 into it 😂.

A couple of things.

The Barcola deal is not dead, it's been agreed but not announced. Don't forget we tend not to announce things of a weekend, plus there is the small matter of the first game of the season tomorrow.

Minteh, I still don't think this is happening. Not saying he isn't a good player, I just don't see us buying someone who is likely not to feature until December.

May as wait till January. It's also odd how it seems to be being pushed by a Gambian news outlet.

The club are expecting Spurs to come in for Gakpo before the end of the window.

Just to retirate, there will be a lot of duff links to players because it's obvious we need and are trying to bring a couple of players in outside of Barcola.

Cheers the fields, we're almost there. We survived the transfer window.

Mbaye is first choice, is moving but how much for and where it is yet to be determined.
Minteh blocks Rio's game time. Mbaye directly competes and motivates.
PSG make Edwards and Hughes look like David Moores in the transfer market.

So, if the deal had been agreed and not announced, presumably, Barcola will not be training or appearing for PSG this weekend.

Nice one TF.

He's out of the PSG squad apparently…..

Barcola & Mbye are both said to be 'inactive' for their game at Rennes tomorrow, if that's any clue to what's happening, according to FlashScore, anyway.

Baldrick, Mbaye is not first choice. It's Rayan. A deal is unlikely for him tho, but funnier things have happened.

I don't get the whole "he wouldn't of trained" narrative. Why wouldn't he be training? Not as if he is on strike or anything, and until it's announced he is still a PSG player. So he will train with the squad.

22 Aug 2026 17:20:22
Rayan with 15 games under his belt? And yet we are about to buy Minteh or
Mbaye? Why not wait, TF?

Thanks, TheFields. 👏👌

If the deal is done, then registration has been transferred to Liverpool, and therefore he would not be training with a different team.

If he's training with PSG, he is a PSG player.
If he's a PSG player, then the deal is not done.
It's as simple as that, I'm afraid.

Cheers, TheFields.

Ron, a deal being agreed is not the same as a deal being done.

I can agree a deal to take some work on, but until I get the contract, my solicitor has taken a look at it and then I sign the contract. It's not a done deal and the work won't be done.

22 Aug 2026 19:45:39
If we end up with Barcola, Rayan, and a really good midfielder, we can win the league.

22 Aug 2026 20:13:26
Yeah, I get that TF, an agreement is pretty meaningless.
Like agreeing a price for a house, then you have 4 months minimum waiting to complete, and anyone can pull out, or you can get gazumped.
