I don't get some of the obsession about big name transfers. Given the signings klopp has made and improved them into high quality players at both Liverpool and dortmund I think anybody klopp buys we should defffo give strong benefit of the doubt to them. With that being said, if Brentford don't get up I'd like the look of Ivan toney seeing how Watkins has flourished after making the move up maybe he could be klopps next lewandowski type signing. And before you slate me and say he is nowhere near lewa in terms of ability now, lewa was nowhere near the ability he is now when klopp bought him.

It’s the kids who play fifa I think mate, because they signed Haaland, sancho and daka in one window and won the treble, they think Klopp should do the same.

We’ve made our bread and butter from signing players lower down the footballing food chain, players where seemingly nobody else has realised their potential for growth and improvement.

However, if the club decided that Toney or Watkins were that player i would trust them, but right now i just don’t see it. Haven’t watched much of either but it would feel like a bit of a punt. Players like Konate and Bissouma have been making noise amongst cultured football fans and stat nerds for a while now, they make a lot more sense. I think with midfielders and defenders you can have your players like Kante or Robertson who go under the radar, hiding away at clubs in the second division. With strikers i feel it is a little different, you can kind of just tell if someone is good enough even if they are in a lesser team, and even then you’d rather let a Villa, Southampton or Newcastle take chance first, because goalscoring ability is such an intangible and unpredictable thing.

Not that i’m the authority on such matters but i honestly just knew in my gut that Sturridge, Salah and Jota would be huge successes. They weren’t super big names but it felt right and i was buzzing when we signed them. I’m not sure i’d say the same about Toney or Watkins, although they should prove to be very decent premier league strikers.

Transfer Top Trumps. I know at least 3 people who supposedly support Liverpool but hardly watch any of the matches, and watch Match of the Day sporadically.
Ass soon as the transfer window opens they spring to life, always spouting utter garbage as to whom we're signing.
It baffles me, it really does.

If we were to make the mistake of selling Salah we’d have to replace with same level of quality, as he’s worth 25-30 goals a season, we’d be stupid to take a punt and hope for the best, we’ve been there before with Caroll and Balotelli.

Cobra, I’d definitely take Toney as a replacement for Origi. Well worth a punt as a back up and if he starts banging them in left right and centre, that’s a result.

Goodness me. It's like your trying to get credit by taking the high ground over other fans opinions. All repeating the same trollip.

Need I not remind you how much this team cost. Of course there's bargains to be found and gems to un earth but there is simply nothing wrong with picking up a cracking 60 million pound player if you can.

We lost the champions league final with a young gem GM and won everything with our 67 million pound gk.

Sometimes it's ok to indulge. It's not spending for spending sake but if the player is right then they're right.

Just can't stand this lording it that we did it our way.

We spent 75 mil on vvd, 40 mil on fab, 40 mil on firmino, 35 mil on Salah, 34 mil on mane, 25 mil on wij and 67 mil on allison.

Yes trent, robbo, hendo and the like were great deals but we have spent money and there is nothing wrong with that!

I'm by no means saying be cheap skates in the transfer market. I'd love haaland but with the fees involved it seems unattainable. Tony would surely be an improvement on origi and given the quality he would be around and our manager coaching ability who knows how many he would score. My main point was basically not to rule anyone out, we've all didnitbwhen we signed robbo.

I have no problem with signing players lower down the food chain because Klopp will make them better players as long as they’re not injured every 5 minutes.

The only issue I have with this is the other clubs around us will happily spend big money on big name players (they don’t always work) thus giving them better squads on paper. I think our best 11 is the best 11 in the country but after that we don’t have much in terms of top talent. Whereas the other top teams do, especially City.

I don’t think it’d hurt to add a couple of top signings when the money is available to do so.

I agree with KingKlopp, it’s disingenuous to say that our signings were all players no one else was interested in. United wanted both Mane and Fabinho, Chelsea wanted Alisson when we signing him, City and Chelsea both wanted VVD, there were certainly other big sides sniffing around Salah and Firmino too when we signed them.

Comparing Toney to Lewa in any context is just laughable. Lewandowski was already a beast in the Polish League at 21 before Klopp signed him and even then, he had to bide his time cos Dortmund had Lukas Barrios as the starter and won the league with him up top with Kagawa and a certain Nuri Sahin pulling the strings in midfield.

Also, Watkins was already highly rated in the Championship but only a handful of midtable teams looked at him like Villa (relegation fodder at the time) and WH, I think. We need a lot better options than a kid from the Championship sorry.
