Another game, another grinded win. It was a tough match as it was the 3rd within a week, with a depleted squad, and up against a compact defence with pace to burn on the counter. I thought we actually did well to win it somehow.

Kelleher - outstanding goalkeeper. He has let in a few soft ones when he deputised earlier this season but he has gotten better the more he played. He also seems to have acquired Alison's 1v1 skills as he has kept out quite a number now.

Konate - he is just a beast of a defender. Reads the play well, is strong, aggressive and front footed. Really hope he can keep up with the fitness side of things as he will be so crucial in the run in.

VVD- just him being him. Rolling back the years and being an amazing captain for us.

Robbo - the fact that he can be playing at this level after the injury he suffered and being out for about 2 months itself is amazing. Not back to his best yet but am glad he's back.

Bradley - I'm no longer 'impressed' by him because I think he has well and truly established himself as a mainstay in the starting 11. These levels of performances are now expected week in and out. TAA has a fight on his hand to win back the RB slot.

Gomez - the ultimate utility man now. Can play 5 positions in the team and this cover is so crucial for us in this run in. Personally felt he played his best at LB for us this season and am just glad he is still with us and only 26 yo.

Clark - good run out and I'm sure he learned so much more about himself and the game. Good to see that he is fearless and won't shy away from a duel or shot.

Macallister - I just want to see more of him in the number 8 role. Hardworking, always probing and so calm and precise with the assist. I think him, szoboslai and Endo are probably our best starting midfield now. Somehow him and Jones still needs to work through some dynamics but I'm sure they will come good as a partnership too.

Nunez - scored and celebrated like the wild man we know he is. Enough said.

I've to end off here as I'm rushing off to another activity but I'm so proud of the team and the kids that were involved. Just as people have been lauding City and Arsenal, I think they forget we are the team leading the table and takes some stopping too.

Let's be honest here people we got out of jail yesterday thanks to the blundering Mr Tierney he incorrectly restarted the game wrong so has he redeemed himself in our eyes have to say never will can't wait till tomorrow morning for ref watch and Mr Gallagher for rest were right to complain but did it the wrong way why does thier chair think its OK to confront the referee opinions please.

03 Mar 2024 07:50:33
@SGYNWA, love your post. On Nunez, I don't think the goal tells the actual story of his performance. As soon as he came on, he was a threat from the off with his running in behind and his movement. As a result, Forrest defended a lot deeper and for the most part, could not get out. .

Klopp then brought on J. Danns with further stretched them out and with Tsimikas plying esssentially as a winger, the spaces were there for Darwin to exploit hence, when the floater from Mac10 came, there it was too late for Neco Williams to intervene. Great cameo from him, overall IMO. Cheers, man.

Redeemed himself for what Rabh?
You can't be serious

He made that call twice in the game. so if you're saying he redeemed himself because of the 1st call, then maybe. but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

To end this debate, he should explain himself as to why he made those 2 calls. but he won't and this stupid argument will rage on.

As an aside, it’s 40 years since we last won in the league at Forest. I’ll take the win and move on.

03 Mar 2024 08:40:19
Exactly, JLC. It seems those complaining literally did not watch the game or did watch it and were not paying attention while watching it. I can accept that rival fans speak such waffle cos the saltiness is crazy. However how our own fans can show that such ability, is just cringe, IMO.

What tha football did we actually get away with, exactly @Rabh? Tierney literally made the same mistake for both teams (something PL refs do ALL the time) YET it is us who got away with something? Are you for real? Forrest cried about not getting a pen with Gomez grabbing on Gibbs-White while at the same time, forgetting that Yates was all over VVD on corners, hanging onto his shirt for dear life. Did Forest get away with one there? Or is it only when we do it that we got away with one? Miss me with that revisionist stuff, man.

There is so much time between the incorrect call and the foul. This is half the battle for Ref’s, media want to create ‘huge controversy’ to sell stories. And it’s often the refs that get hung out to dry. People are arguing what could of happened if they got possession back, no one knows we could of tackled them broke and scored. If it was a foul that directly led up to our goal I’d get the s***storm but it was about 2 minutes before we scored. How far back do we go?

Forest had an opportunity to clear the ball before our goal but decided to try and dribble it out rather then hoof it. I can’t prove it but I expect if that ball goes air bound the ref blows for full time.

Yes the ref made a mistake but it was Forests naivety that cost them the point.

As a side note, Clattenberg (probably spelt wrong) shouldn’t be in the position he is in. I feel it muddies the waters and will no doubt add extra pressure to refs on their games.

In the letter of the law he had restarted play and couldn’t bring the play back . Sound familiar ? . There was over a minute and another phase of play from that call to our goal . Let’s not make this sound as if he’s gave us a soft pen or a free kick on the edge of their box it was a drop ball for our keeper in our box . Forrest still had time to stop us scoring and they never . As a team that’s been on the end of such bad refereeing decisions this season I do feel for Forrest but at the same time they still had to play to the final whistle they switched off we never . Not a good decision but it’s the exact same as giving a throw in to the team it last come off before going out of play that happens nearly every game I watch but no one mentions it . This incident is nowhere near the levels of the Rodri handball at goodison but you watch rivals will not stop banging on about this especially if we go on to lift the title .
About time we had a little luck on our side I say and long may it continue.

{Ed025's Note - its written in the stars Dhfc, everything is going for you mate and what happened at spurs has been returned 10 fold, i think any team that wins the league have to have a modicum of good luck...thats just the way it is..

03 Mar 2024 10:28:07
A great post mate.

03 Mar 2024 10:30:18
Exactly, @Dhfc. This is all a storm in a tea cup to distract away from the win we got thru grit, determination and desire to not be denied what we thought we deserved (even tho we struggled) . Tierney screwed up for both teams in the exact same situations YET we got away with one and every is screaming bloddy murder about how a ref was actually consistent in not awarding the fouls on both sides? It seems people want consistency UNTIL it no longer suits them and at that point, they want special treatment which is what Forest, their manager, fans and the media are trying to do. Sorry, NO cookies for you lot.

03 Mar 2024 10:32:18
@Ed25 respectfully, I don't know about any that cos we can do all the great stuff we are doing now and still lose the title. I am fully aware of that so I tke things on a game by game basis and hope for the best.

Luck? Of course, it's a thing no question BUT it is often defined as "When preparation meets opportunity" meaning, you have to do your job and prepare to the fullest mentally and physically, trust/ believe in yourself, and work your socks off to get the opportunity to pounce (which we did), something Klopp is the BEST at on the planet as a manager. We move.

{Ed025's Note - im not saying you dont deserve a bit of luck Oli, its part an parcel of the game mate, i thought you were bloody awful against Forest but you got the win and in the end thats all that matters..

03 Mar 2024 10:36:45
A thought Mr Tierney was not our fav referee but then who is they have a hard job to do some make it look easy Mr Oliver in question he had to stop play for konates head knock and if the forest player had touched the ball outside the box he would have got possession ba k but as he didn't then the drop ball was to the keeper you could see clearly Mr Tierney checked more than once on konate so really he not done too much wrong people may need to check up 1st on the laws before hauling him over the coals what doesn't help is clattenberg muddying the waters.

03 Mar 2024 11:09:26
"i thought you were bloody awful against Forest".

Ed25 and what were you expecting with all the injuries we have, exactly and with the lineup we had? Swashbuckling footie? Not arsed about performances one bit nor what anyone thinks about how we played. Why? In our situation, it is all about getting over the line till we get our players back. IMO, The performances (and whatever anyone thinks of them) can take a back seat preferrably, WAY at the back of the bus. We move.

{Ed025's Note - yeah it seems amazing Oli seeing as though its only liverpool who have injuries mate, and having been reliably informed that all of your players are "world class" i expected you to play better than you did.. :)

03 Mar 2024 12:07:35
The re-start is only an issue to people either on the wind up like Ed or people like keys and Gray or worse shearer and Jenas on MOTD lastnite only delighted with a bit of controversy, full knowing forest had benefited from the same decision earlier in the game. i think its great, love to see us doing peoples heads in.

03 Mar 2024 12:57:30
spot on, Rabh. i just saw online that the rule states that if there is a head injury in the box, the ball is given to the defensive team hence, LFC when it was Konate and Forest when Yeates took one in the head from Elliott. So based on that rule (if it's true), Tierney did the right thing. Again, where's the beef, haters?

Also what I find dubious to the point of consiparcy to smear LFC, is that NO pundit from MOTD, BT or ESPN even bothered to mention the fact that Tierney did the same thing for both teams. All they did was focus on the LFC side of things, rather than being actually fair and balanced and talling about when Forest benefitted from the exact same application of the rule. Quite dubious, indeed.

03 Mar 2024 13:15:46
Spot on, Jude. The agendas are hilarious and just tedious to watch (and read on here) . This is a storm in a tea cup generated out of nowhere to get people wound up. Typical clickbait stuff. I would ask them to actually engage in actual game analysis using actual facts and the law BUT I know they won't cos well, that doesn't generate controversy nor enuff entertainment. Sad for them.

03 Mar 2024 13:20:03
"Yeah it seems amazing Oli seeing as though its only liverpool who have injuries mate, and having been reliably informed that all of your players are "world class" i expected you to play better than you did. :) "

Hahaha! Said Nobody Ever. Oh and one last thing. If you're going to troll at least, read what people actually post before doing so cos there's not much to work with when you respond to what NOBODY actually said. Happy Sunday!

03 Mar 2024 13:39:14
Oli the one in the first half was done correctly, ball hadn't left the box so it was handed back to Forest.

Second half the ball was out the Box so should have gone to forest. The decision was incorrect however its not direct before the goal or has controversial as they are making out.

It's the media and rival social media fans stirring the pot to create a story far bigger then what it is.

03 Mar 2024 12:28:41
Ed025, take 3 world class players out of any team and see how well they get on. ALi and Salah are nailed on best players in their positions on the planet and Trent is 100% world class. How would Everton get on if they lost 3 wor. oh wait.

{Ed025's Note - they are possibly your 3 best players John (not sure about trent though) but every team has some of their best players injured at some time mate its nothing new and thats why you have a squad, so dont give me this poor old Liverpool crap..every team gets injuries..

03 Mar 2024 17:56:32
Yeh i agree ed every team gets injurys but we have had 8 or 9 of our 1st 11 out these last few weeks and kept on winning. no other side in europe does that for me.

{Ed025's Note - you have a very strong squad Jude and some of the youngsters that have come in have exceeded expectations, some of it is down to luck of course but a lot of credit has to Klopp and the staff who have made them oven ready, and of course the experienced players like VVD guiding them along mate..

05 Mar 2024 13:01:54
I'll be honest lads, ignoring the so-called 'controversy' which has been addressed in a lot of posts, we played poorly and won - that's it

It happens, this was a game in previous seasons we have drew or even lost - to play poorly and still grind out a win is what is needed for a team to chase for a title

4 games in 11 days I think that was and we won them all - not pretty but a win is a win and it's the points that count (plus the Cup lol) - from a neutral this title race must be epic. I think it's only the 2nd time at this stage of the season that 3 teams have been on 60 points plus so honestly a great season to unfold for the neutral

Added to the fact that City's next 2 matches are away to us and then home to Arsenal then jeez who knows what way this title race will look like in a couple of weeks

Honestly, given the midfield issues last season and the 'rebuild' we had in the summer I never thought we would be anywhere near the top or in contention for the trophies this season - hats off to Klopp and this team for how they are playing.
