Just on VAR last night and how quickly it was used. They didn't make a feature length documentary out of the two var decisions i remember. How is it the English referees seem to be the only ones that struggle with it. We never see much controversy in its use in European games.

{Ed0666's Note - easy better standard of refereeing.

Definitely better refereeing.

I would have liked to see a shot of the ball going over the line just before the bobby goal.

I agree longthing, the angles weren’t great but from what I did see it looked like the whole of the ball didn’t cross the line despite what the useless BT commentators said.
It was very tight I think we are talking millimetres but you can lose a goal by that much with goal line technology so you should also be able to gain one with VAR.
I think the reason we don’t get as much controversy in Europe is because they look at it, make a decision and move on. No coloured lines, no endless replays, no slow motion just good old fashioned refereeing of a football match.

Back in the good old days it was the foreign refs that blew for everything and the game was always interrupted. How things have changed!

The ball did go all the way over the line, they showed a replay slightly afterwards, it’s just the VAR saw it straight away and play went on rather than looking at it for 10 minutes and from 20 different angles, different speeds and drawing wonky lines all over the place.
VAR was much better and more fluid in that game that what we see in the prem, it was what I hoped it would be like when it was brought in.

In Europe, VAR is used as a tool to help the refs and there are standards as to how and when it is used. It also helps that refs are not interested in being celebrities and don’t seek the limelight.

In England, VAR is used to protect the rank incompetence of the refs. There are no standards nor set rules cos they change on a weekly basis. And certain in England want to be celebrities and crave the limelight.

I would prefer that we used VAR in that way. If it looks out to the linesman and he flags. Then unless he has made an obvious error then they go with his decision.

If it takes a English referees seven or eight looks at screen to make a var decision in slow motion how can they make instant decisions during the match? Is it because they have center of attention all eyes and camera's on them yet yesterday in LFC champions league game i did not even no VAR had been used no dramas no outlandish decision not a foul game moves ref was very good took no back chat and dished out yellow card when needed.

the ball for Firmino's "goal" was more over the line that Luis Garcia's ghost goal hahaha.
