I am personally jealous of CR7's return to MU. Everyone is strengthening their core, we basically have the same team gain cover for the defense, but losing a consistent presence in the middle. In addition, we are one injury away from having our front three going unchallenged.

Agree3 Disagree0

Imagine the tears if we hadn’t won our first two games this season 😂.

27 Aug 2021 23:44:51
It's an absolute joke isn't it, for a club of our size.

{Ed0666's Note - jealousy is natural mate but one day we’ll get a Ronaldo of our own?

27 Aug 2021 23:55:27
Remember lads, other clubs aren’t allowed to sign good players, if they do it means we’re getting relegated.

28 Aug 2021 00:22:17
Say that when we're depending on origi for goals in January ed0666,😳.

{Ed0666's Note - don’t forget the goal machine that is minamino

So we'd all be creaming ourselves if FSG brought back The Cannibal?

Doubt it. I'm sure some would be happy and others would see the value to the squad, but I don't think we'd be losing our minds with joy.

I genuinely do not see how Ronaldo changes much in terms of Utd's ability to mount a serious title challenge. They still have de Gea in goal and McTominay in midfield. You don't win the league with players like that in key positions, imo.

{Ed0666's Note - Ronaldo galvanizes them not so much with his play but the experience, leadership and he has a super hot girlfriend.

28 Aug 2021 00:59:10
He'll score some goals, but he's taking a spot of their 2 best forwards, left forward drifting inside is Rashfords thing, Greenwood will probably have become a Benzema type decoy runner to make space for Ronaldo instead of developing and scoring. Be interesting how he and Fernandez get along. We know he won't press, so other guys will have to do the running. I think if EPL club made a bid for Greenwood with good wages, he would go now.

Nothing like looking to the future is there.

28 Aug 2021 01:27:58
I've listened most of my life (I'm 29) to united fans tell me to stop living in the past.

Now they're the team so desperate for trophies they're paying a 36 year old 250k a week to get them some. It will end very badly for Ronaldo and united this season whereas we will be laughing.

Harvey elliot and curtis Jones will have another's years experience on their way to being top top players. United fans can be the ones to live in the past, we are the team of the future.

{Ed0666's Note - just playing devils advocate what’s to say he won’t lead them to the title and the naysayers will be left eating humble pie. There’s no evidence to suggest Ronaldo will be a hit or a miss. The evidence will be evident in May 2022.

28 Aug 2021 02:03:23
I refuse to call him CR7 or talk to anyone that does.

28 Aug 2021 02:21:29
I Sympathise with the first 11 who have to negotiate 38 PL, up to 13 CL games, plus cups, plus international duty in a World Cup year and African nations cup, without getting injured, fatigued, suspended or lose form, whilst their rivals can manage the workload with a deeper squad.
Let’s all remember we’ve only won 1 PL title in 31 years, with a bit of squad depth, whilst Klopp is still around it could be more. We’re asking for miracles to expect the same team to deliver 99 and 98 points again whilst being older against strengthened opposition.

28 Aug 2021 02:40:04
Ed 0666 I believe Harvey Elliot will be our Ronaldo if managed correctly. When you watch him he just seems to have that something extra that kids his age don’t have. Personally think he’s going to be very special.

{Ed0666's Note - I hope so mate. I really do. All the ingredients are there, enjoy the game tommorow 👍

28 Aug 2021 02:49:37
Imagine if we had a Ronaldo of our own? You mean Mo salah over the past 3 years? In the toughest league in the world. Don’t get me wrong. I think Ronaldo is a tier above mo. But I wouldn’t trade Mo for anyone in world football (value aside) . Right now, he is the most important player in our team. No doubt.

{Ed077's Note - CR7 may not be a tier above Salah anymore. I would say most likely he a better player than Salah right now, maybe in his peak he was..

28 Aug 2021 04:30:08
Let's be honest, it's definitely not one for the future but it's a cracking signing. Ronaldo is class and improves them. The only saving grace is ole is at the wheel still. If he doesn't win anything with this team he's gone. Going to be tough this season.

Good retirement gig for Ronaldo. Following in the footsteps of Ibrahimovic, Cavani and Falcao. One last squeeze of the Glazer’s wallet before putting his feet up. I’d be a lot more worried if they signed Messi.

28 Aug 2021 07:28:10
IDreamOfGin I think Ronaldo is a better fit to the premier league than Messi. I all so think he has more longevity than Messi and will score 20+ league goals.

28 Aug 2021 07:50:58
Ronaldo is a great bit of PR work.

Will generate a pile of cash in merchandise and will be a double wing for the Glazers - the ones who brought CR7 back and the ones who collected the cash for the merchandise sales.

From a footballing perspective there is a short term gain - he will score a few particularly if he can wrestle the ball off the current penalty taker but a front two of Ronaldo and Cavan aren’t exactly lightening quick are they and they aren’t the best at tracking back. Ronaldo being the star turn might also have an effect on Fernandes and almost certainly will on Pogba.

In the medium to long term Ole is turning out to be a case of a mini Jose M. - buy the fini#he’d product and don’t worry about the development of the next generation.
You young lads just pass the ball to CR and let him do the rest.

Anyway, whatever, I think it is a 3 way fight this season - us, Chelsea and City and my fiver is it finishing in that order.

Ronaldo may not be the player he was once. He may or may not get the 20 goals. But he will bring one thing sorely lacking in this Utd team - the winning mentality.

He’s a serial winner and demands to win. That in itself may be worth the $. Will it rub off others? Will it lead to a trophy? No one knows. But he sure will up the intensity in training by his mentality.

28 Aug 2021 09:04:17
The same mentality that went to Juventus when they were top and didn't win the league.
Hes 36 and not the same player, people should concentrate on our own lads and not some out of date overreactive transfer done out of desperation.

28 Aug 2021 11:46:39
Fourth or fifth best player in the world for me, Grino. Not the threat he was previously. Messi, however, is still running games on his own.
