I'm still disappointed origi isn't going to be apart of the squad. Brilliant player and has the laid back attitude which carries greatness needed in big moments.

Agree0 Disagree0

09 Jun 2022 19:51:33
Will be an unpopular opinion but I think he had about 5 great moments in 7 years, when compared to the majority of the squad they have 5 big moments a month.

Sentiments aside he was hardly getting any game time and wherever he goes I wish him all the best.

09 Jun 2022 20:06:49
Brilliant player and carries greatness?
Are you sure?

09 Jun 2022 20:11:15
JK, the reason some of us will disagree is because the moments Divvy had were much bigger than most others. 2 goals against Barcelona in the CL when we were as good as out, 1 in the final to make it comfortable, all those last minute goals and almost every game in the Derby.
Sure, he isn't as good as our other forwards or he'd have played more often but he is a cult hero for a reason.

09 Jun 2022 20:18:37
I’m sad to see the big fella go as he’s had some big moments. He’s a modern day Fairclough.

09 Jun 2022 20:22:43
But he is going to be “apart” from the squad.

Let’s be honest, he is clearly a nice lad and been a good squad player with some magical moments, but he has been surplus to requirements for a few years now and it is time to move on. Thank you and best of luck!

09 Jun 2022 20:39:28
Bommers more than entitled to your opinion mate and he def goes down as an icon for me or as you’ve said a cult hero.

He scored some important goals but our other players have also scored some important goals and plenty of them.

Without his goal in the CL final we still win it 1-0. With his two goals against Barcelona without the other two we go out 3-2 on aggregate.

I’m more concerned with replacing Manes 120 goals
& 48 assists over Origi’s 22 league goals and 6 assists in 8 years. Hardly great but he will always be loved by LFC fans.

09 Jun 2022 20:56:46
No longer a place for Divocks in the squad, being a nice bloke isn't good enough.

09 Jun 2022 21:44:43
He’s not there because he’s a nice bloke.

To be able to come in when called upon and deliver in big movements after not playing for extended periods of time is very very difficult.

Not many players can do that and take time to build up momentum, fitness and confidence.

09 Jun 2022 21:56:37
JK, great that we can have differences of opinion and be respectful about it. Doesn't happen often online!
Agree that he isn't the best footballer but he has given me some of my favourite memories.
It'll be hard to find another player happy enough to be on the bench but can come on to make such a difference.

As you say, Mane is far worse. But when one player leaves an opportunity for another presents itself. Diaz and Nunez (if he signs) might share the golden boot next season.

09 Jun 2022 21:03:15
I saw a lad on Twatter say "why spend £85m on Nunez when he's no better than Divock". Apparently they've the same XG and minutes per goal for last season were fairly similar.

09 Jun 2022 22:32:31
Agree Bommers mate.

Oh mane mane it’s quite hard to compare the two mate when one is 300 minutes and the other is 2600 minutes.

I think Origi seems to be a genuine young fella who has his head screwed on the right way. He has also scored some pretty big goals in his time here and for that he will always be remembered fondly.

Sadly, he isn’t a ‘brilliant’ footballer. His laid back attitude, or perhaps other people’s perception of his attitude have meant that despite bundles of potential he hasn’t (at least yet) got as far as he could possibly get.

If he was brilliant, 5he simple fact is he would have got more game time and he hasn’t.

10 Jun 2022 06:03:47
100% JK23 I agree with you. It just shows how stats can be twisted to suit the narrative though.

10 Jun 2022 09:06:00
Which players had 5 great moments a month in the last 7 years lol

Origi, for his role, will be a massive loss for us. And don’t mean in that in terms of us getting worse. Just that it feels like we’re losing a key piece of the family who turned in some magic moments for the club. Hard to find guys like him anywhere in world football at this level, so he should be celebrated for the footballer and person that he is.

10 Jun 2022 11:16:12
Faith we win lots of games every month. During those games our players have lots of great moments to win those games for us, be it Allison making a great save, a defender making a great last ditch tackle or a great assist or goal etc.

If you’re blinkered enough to think that Origi is the only player to have great moments to win us a league scoring against Everton or win us a CL scoring 50% of the goals against Barcelona regardless of the fact there were another 37 league and 12 CL games that others played a tiny part in to contribute to Origi winning it for us then I really can’t help you.

10 Jun 2022 12:14:48
See, why do you have to go the length of personalising it with a jab at my visual ability lol I didn’t bother reading whatever you wrote past that tbh cos Im not here to argue about who had the best moments or whatever.

As I said, for the role Origi had in the team he did it perfectly well and had some great moments in his own right. He has earned that praise and recognition. No one is seriously saying he should have a statue built outside Anfield.

Faith. Happy it’s clear no one is allowed to disagree or debate with you so I won’t bother in future.

10 Jun 2022 14:07:11
sure let's have a debate, what are you getting sensitive about? you said I was blinkered and then said that I think Origi is the only player who had great moments. that says to me that a) you're immature and b) you didn't even read or comprehend what I said about Origi. So why bother reading your point that is countering a point about Origi being some kind of demi-GOd, which isn't a point that I made?

You've gone on a tangent, rather emotionally hence missing the point and reverting to questioning my visual acuity. Which, ironically, is amazing as I do have keratoconus lol but that's not quite the same as blinkered.

We get it. You think Origi has had an average career. That isn't the point as the rest of us are choosing to recognize the contributions he did make, in his role whilst upholding the values of the club and himself. SO yeah kudos to him and the moments that he and the rest of us experienced. Good times.

10 Jun 2022 14:52:46
And I’m the sensitive one ???????????.

10 Jun 2022 16:12:55
Sorry but Origi was terrible 90% of his Liverpool career. Cool that he scored some important goals but if Salah and Mane were available for that Barcelona game who's to say one of them couldn't hit a hatrick?! Salah and Mane both play well in most of the big games, just thinking about Salah vs City and United and Mane destroying Bayern. If you remember Origi played 4-5 games from start later and did nothing! He is bang average.

{Ed001's Note - that is harsh, he always turned up when we needed him, that is something that we could have done with at the end of the season in the Champions League final....}

10 Jun 2022 21:10:50
yeah i guess so, my bad! but the love he gets and the hate Mane and Salah get does my head in!

10 Jun 2022 22:57:50
JK - Yup immature as I’d guessed. Well tried to explain but seems like you just want to dance around and then hammer your counter argument to a point I didn’t make. I’m out ✌️.

11 Jun 2022 00:17:06
Malak - I think that is incredibly harsh. and this is the thing that the critics do when it comes to assessing Origi's career - they compare him to the likes of Mane and Salah. He is those guys. He is a squad player and should be assessed as such. In that role he has scored massive goals and crucially for me, wasn't a disruption whatsoever over his entire time being a bench player. Yes he wasn't a ballon d'or candidate, but he didn't need to be. We needed him to be who he was - a pure professional and on top of that he had these crazy and iconic moments that make his story worthy of recognition.
