Chelsea should have saved that billion and played their terrific Academy boys!

Whatever is going on over there is baffling.

10 Dec 2023 16:20:47
Has anyone followed Chelsea much this season? How has the great lad Caicedo performed?

10 Dec 2023 16:26:16
I am sure they will splash again and no one inducing the FA would bat an eye shield. Biggest money Launderer in the world.

10 Dec 2023 16:54:37
Been poor Das but suppose you have to keep playing him when you've been taken for an absolute mug by Brighton.

Chelsea are a classic case of money not bringing success. They have a raft of decent, but not title winning players which they have payed far far to much for. They are all on mega money and long contracts so selling them in is going to be difficult. They will not care about the loses, but other teams simply will not pay the wages they are on now so those players may not want to leave. Its a little odd that the owner there did not bring a quote unquote. propper football man in to over see things. he's been heavily involved in transfers from. wjat i've read, not sure if that's true or not, but just payed what ever for the above average but no better players they have purchased. The young lad from Saints a prime example, thick end of 60 mil for an unproven 19 year old is insane money. They are a shambles and I cannot see Poch being there much longer. Infact do not be surprised if buy Janurary he's at United.

I think Pouch needs to go. With a young newly formed team, I would expect a lot of inconsistency etc. but also see flashes and the odd excellent performance. The issue I would have if I was a Chelsea fan is I'm not seeing any flashes of what could be. Certainly the players need to take a lot of responsibility in that team but I think a change of management is justified.

10 Dec 2023 17:42:16
What is an eye shield?

10 Dec 2023 18:42:14
Davey, it ain't going to matter who they hire or fire. These guys are in way too deep for many of their fans to realise cos they keep acting as if the manager is the problem you know, the same attitude they had under Roman. Sacking the manager ain't going to work cos they sacked Potter and where has that gotten them? And that dressing room with Drogba, Lampard, Terry, Chech who could rally the troops, manager or not. The penny is yet to drop for many of their fans. It will. Someday.

I’m glad Everton stuck it to them. Those poverty chants the Chelsea supporters deserved being rammed back down their throats .

{Ed025's Note - it seems all supporters think Merseyside is a dump VV, and it could not be further from the truth imo mate...mind you i do live in the posh part.. :)

10 Dec 2023 23:07:42
how did they let someone with no idea how to run a top premier football club into Chelsea and think that millions and millions spent on players is the answer, well as liverpool supporter for over 60 years I am so happy to see Everton stuff them and maybe see yet another change in manager and more millions spent . cclubs sshould be run properly.

10 Dec 2023 23:08:21
As a lifelong Scouser I don't see the offence in the chants, it's pretty and childish not offensive at all considering the country as a whole is on it's backside. Trajegy chants are disgusting but to me it's a bit of stereotype banter. The more people take offence the more it will continue.

11 Dec 2023 07:03:10
I'd like to hear from the "buy, buy, buy" boys on here, who think buying a couple of new "shiny toys" every single window is the way forward in (buying) success.

I'll accept that it has worked for ManCity, but it clearly hasn't for Chelsea. And that's all the risk there is in such a strategy, right there.

11 Dec 2023 10:22:47
I’m glad to learn that beggars only exist in Merseyside
The poor people in London must be an illusion I guess
And regardless where people who are poor May reside, are they really people we should be using in chants to wind people up in a football match?

Mock premature declarations of we are going to win the league, laugh about inabilities to hold on to leads, sing about us bottling it, pick on any issue you can see on the football pitch, behaviours of the fans pertaining to the football but really don’t understand how does calling people poor or chanting about tragedies or stereotypes of people from certain regions adds anything in stadiums.

{Ed025's Note - i think you are spot on sg, im afraid modern society makes me cringe at times mate..

11 Dec 2023 11:30:18
Chelsea will be fine. Pochettino said post match that he plans to turn the season around by asking Boehly for financial backing in the January window.

11 Dec 2023 11:33:50
Didn’t we buy Vvd, Allison, Robbo, Gomez, Wijnaldum, Hendo, Fab, Ox, Bobby, Salah, Mane and Origi etc to win us the CL and PL.

Perhaps we would have still won both without buying.

11 Dec 2023 11:38:15
Sgynwa, I fully agree. Anyone chanting and mocking people as being poor (whether it is true or not) is absolutely disgraceful, end of.

11 Dec 2023 18:04:05
What makes me laugh is the Mancs singing the poverty chants. I had an office over in Manchester a few years ago and believe me parts are a real dump. Even in the City Centre, the walk from piccadilly down to the arndale, full of real low lifes, spice heads it's awful.

11 Dec 2023 21:21:29
Thatnewoldguy, the fact that Thatcher tried her best to split the country in terms of wealth you should be annoyed by such chants. She hated places like Liverpool and was quite happy shafting places she hated.

12 Dec 2023 03:24:49
Jude, if Chelsea started playing their academy players in the first team, we wouldn't have anyone to buy anymore, right? ?.

12 Dec 2023 07:41:42
I wondered what an ‘eye shield’ was too.

Getting back to Chelsea - and there plan to achieve total world domination by 2030 notwithstanding - they are increasingly bringing to mind the difference in buying a player - even if the player has some potential, and buying a player who has the potential to improve the team or squad, in some way. I think there’s a difference that often goes unrecognised.

12 Dec 2023 08:53:07
Not to harp on about Chelsea, and, again at the risk of embarrassing myself with my lack of knowledge, have a look at Chelsea U-21’s current league position (PL2, Div 1) or their U-18s current league position (U-18 PL South) - the future looks bright.
