Hi Ed002,

Any chance of a recap on Liverpool's possible sales and where there's interest in our players?

Thanks a mill as always,
Davey.

{Ed002's Note - Please remind me on Friday Dave and I will do it.}

I’d say most likely are.

L. Karius. Free.
D. Origi. Free - Milan.
S. Mane. - Bayern.

B. Davies - available for transfer.
A. O Chamberlain- available for transfer.
N. Williams - available for transfer.
N. Phillips - available for transfer.
T. Minimino - available for transfer.

Possible sales.
R. Firmino.
N. Keita.
J. Matip.

I’d say last three would depend on arrivals and only an outside chance of leaving.

There is absolutely zero chance we are going to sell Bobby or Matip this summer.
Keita would only happen if we were to get someone like Bellingham.
Obviously just my opinion.

16 Jun 2022 08:45:05
Read somewhere that we might keep Phillips for when Matip leaves in a year. Another loan this year.

16 Jun 2022 09:24:12
I don't understand why we'd sell Keita if we're apparently offering him a new contract, but I think everyone would prefer Bellingham to come in. Which seems a moot point.

Can't see Matip going anywhere, unless we bring in another or unless Gomez is going to be given another chance.

Be interesting to see if Mane goes now or next year. I guess pros either way, but will limit some of the youngsters coming through. I'd hate to see Elliot go the way of Ings.

I'd hope Bobby stays a while longer. He has been our super sub of late, and I can't think of anyone I'd rather have coming off the bench when we need something a bit special.

IF and it is a big IF Liverpool are offering Naby a new contract it maybe to increase his market value. Not many clubs will look at Naby because of his stupid wages that he is on plus there are some countries that he can't play in. He's been a massive let down since he arrived and I for one can't wait to see the back of him.

16 Jun 2022 10:18:22
I personally cannot understand why we don't sell Phillips to Bournemouth for £15m.

Why after getting regular first team football would he want to come back to be 4th choice? which in reality means he may get the odd game in the league cup.

The only problem i see with Matip is the fact he is on high wages.

We need to start cutting loose players who have no future with us, all across the board.

We are stuck with Keita because of his personal problems and the simple fact nobody else wants him- he also is no doubt on high wages, the only way he leaves is when his contract officially expires and the club itself does not renew it.

16 Jun 2022 11:47:38
Naby will also struggle this year if his best friend Mane leaves.

16 Jun 2022 11:29:00
Kingkenny, I get your point, but we need to look at it from the club's PoV.

Matip is currently (based on the start of last season) a starter, but has gradually been phased out in favour of Konate.

Gomez is being groomed to be the other part of that partnership, over the next few years (as VVD gets older) .

When Matip leaves, we will need a 4th CB that we know and can rely on.

Phillips wages are not huge, and if he is happy with having only a guarantee of a handful of games, but the chance of a longer run at Liverpool (in the case of injuries) then he may choose to take that chance rather than playing more games at a lower level club.

Personally, I see replacing Matip with Phillips in a years time as a very sensible option for the club, and the player seems to be happy with it too.

If he wants to move in years to come, hopefully we have other emerging players like Koumetio and Van Den Berg coming through to fill that space and/ or push for the starting places.

In fairness to keita he'd gone some way to being ahead of Hendo in the pecking order by the end of the season. If he stays fit expect to see even more of him next year, remember it doesn't matter what people on here's opinions are Klopp clearly rates him.

{Ed001's Note - are you for real? He was not ahead of Hendo at all, he only got game time because Jones and Elliott struggled to recover from injuries and Henderson has to be managed and Fabs picked up an injury. He is in no way first choice, nor will he be until he bucks his ideas up.}

16 Jun 2022 12:30:43
He was playing ahead of jones and elliott when both were back fit in the squad.43 appearances last year. get used to him lads.

{Ed001's Note - because they were not back to form, not because Klopp rates him above them. Pointless this argument, if you think he is rated higher than Elliott then you know f all and everyone is wasting their time reading your garbage.}

Keita is sub par but due to the fans not wanting to admit it was a bad purchase (everyone makes them and our recent success rate is top draw) but he has been a flop and a half decent performance against a lower table team isn’t enough to suggest otherwise. He’s had time at the club and he just doesn’t seem to be kicking on. Don’t like bad mouthing the players, and wills till support every one of them, but he’s just not working out and should be moved on, it really is that simple.

16 Jun 2022 12:47:47
i like nathan phillips he didn't get much game but when he did play he was good.
Rhys williams is the one we should sell everytime he is a liability.

16 Jun 2022 12:48:54
Started 12 of 16 league games after AFCON. As i said, as the season went on his influence grew that undeniable in a team that was winning every week. when he's injured he gets stick, when he starts 75%of our league run in he still gets stick. Talk about already made up opinions.

16 Jun 2022 12:54:41
Don't understand the obsession to defend inconsistent flashy players who have 10 negatives for each positive.

16 Jun 2022 13:17:33
Ah look td, the the same could be said about the obsession to criticise a player who made 43 appearances for a team still going for a quadruple on the 22nd May.

16 Jun 2022 13:20:16
Why offer Naby a new contract i wonder. To keep him as a cheap squad option, if he accepts low wages is the only reason i could believe.

16 Jun 2022 13:28:27
I think people are way to harsh on Naby. I thought he had a decent season and definitely played his part. The price tag seems to cloud people’s judgement as they expected him to be Kante and De Bruyne rolled into one. He’s not that but he’s nowhere near as bad as half the people on here say he is.
Thiago was much worse in his first 18 months yet nobody slagged him off. I sometimes wonder what people’s agendas are.

16 Jun 2022 13:46:03
Keita had 3 appearances less than the previous two seasons COMBINED so hopefully that's the injury record improving. Performances improved aswell last season, not brilliant but certainly no worse than our other midfielders in a lot of games (although god forbid they be criticised) . Naby will be here next season so we should be hoping the improvement continues instead of hoping he fails.

16 Jun 2022 16:22:57
Naby is rubbish jadon and we all know it. As for the qoute that he got in ahead of hendo. haha think the Ed said it all. Another player well be letting go on a free when his contract ends. No-one in their right mind would buy him. Terrible player.

16 Jun 2022 17:43:36
I'd be willing to wager that Naby features in more league games than Hendo next year! whatever you think about Naby (im not tryin 2 make out he's the 2nd coming of Zidane) anyone who hasn't seen the decline in Hendo are blinded by how decent a guy he is. Keita, for all his faults actually outperformed him in many a game this year but sure most on here wouldn't admit that just outa pure stubborness.

16 Jun 2022 18:08:59
"Naby is rubbish and we all know it. "
Apart from Klopp that is. Klopp seems to know what he's doing, folks on much much less so.

16 Jun 2022 20:12:19
'Naby outperformed Hendo in many games last year'. That is utter rubbish JH. Sorry mate but I'm calling it.

Doesn't tackle, doesn't sprint, very average shooting (we can all score a worldie with enough chances), can't head the ball, rarely tracks back. I'd wager his kit doesn't need washing after each game.

16 Jun 2022 20:32:01
Its not Red, watch the games! Hendo (as well as Naby admittedly) had some very poor performances last season. Just like Firmino had last few seasons (but wait, Salah and Mane can't score without him) without getting half the stick others get because he's well liked.

16 Jun 2022 20:56:14
Naby has all the tools to be a top quality player but he lacks consistency, not just from game to game but during games. He also lacks the defensive attitude to spot danger before it happens (or just lazy in that aspect of his game) and his injury record has been awful at the club. If he was 21 coming off the back of his first season at the club I would be confident he could improve and fulfil his potential but he’s 27 and has played under Klopp for 4 years so I don’t hold out much hope unfortunately.

16 Jun 2022 23:28:08
Hendo played more minutes than any other midfielder we have this season. Just a reminder, since some seem to be pigeon holing him as needing constant rotation and subbing or his legs will fall off.

And for those constantly on about how Klopp is picking Keita therefore he must be good (I'll leave aside that this logic applied universally means there's no point in us discussing anything on here. Since we're all amateurs with no right to judge Klopp and must assume him to be infallible at all times, what's there to talk about? ), the same Klopp was saying we haven't seen the "real" Naby Keita yet as recently as the last couple of months of the season. So he clearly thinks Naby still has work to do.

Wonder how long it'll be until we do see this real Naby Keita? Another 4 years maybe?

Or maybe the real Naby Keita has been here all the time. Maybe it's the bloke who thinks he can spend most of a match strolling around the place (don't tell me to "watch the games" please. I only missed about 3 last season and I know what I saw) just because he got his big move to Liverpool? The guy's clearly quite talented, but anyone who thinks he's using even a tenth of it on a regular basis should consider consulting their optician.

And for all the rumours of a new deal, he hasn't actually got one yet has he? Van Dijk got one. Hendo got one. Alexander-Arnold got one. The club discussed one with Salah's reps, seemingly at length, although he hasn't accepted it. But Keita's just been left hanging so far. Strange if he's apparently so good and Klopp loves him.

17 Jun 2022 01:51:09
Keita is garbage, always has been since the day he arrived.
We need a midfielder who is prepared to tackle with tenacity, spot a pass, control the centre of the pitch and Keita does none of that.
Personally from the list Ed002 published, I only think Sangare or Merino are possible.
I would personally go for Neuhaus.
