Do we not get internet if we leave. Seems a bit harsh!

Mmm interesting start to the new season.
Tasty final two months tho if I may say so!

I know I'm a bit late on the scene but many people don't know this about the EU. In my area alone the EU has funded 2 railway stations 3 green spaces and a theatre. They do and work a lot harder than people think they do and for that reason I am very pro EU. Also in a time when we are all connected by trade, the Internet and the media why would we want to be disconnected from it? Disconnected from the single market?

15 Jun 2016 21:46:43
Which one do we vote for that flogs Migs and Moreno to Everton?

15 Jun 2016 21:47:32
That's all well and good but there are a serious amount of areas including mine severely affected by the EU, be it business, NHS, and yes immigration and that massive figure disputed even if it's half that it's too much for what state we are left.

15 Jun 2016 21:56:28
Do we not get internet if we leave the EU? Seems a bit harsh, it will be like the dark ages again. This site will go to the wall!

15 Jun 2016 22:11:23
People talk about the separation as if the market will no longer be available and we will be completely ostracised from trading with any EU countries. Its rubbish. Trade is a two-way relationship. Imports rely on this trade too.

In the short term things would likely stagnate and new trade terms would have to be negotiated but it no longer limits us from a global picture.

When you're young often you lodge with people. Usually your best friends. When you move out and go your separate ways does that mean you have to stop being friends? .

Think of the bigger picture. The biggest risk is the damage incurred in the transition period. The future is potentially very prosperous.

15 Jun 2016 22:50:20
Are Liverpool looking to sign this brexit? No. Keep it off the Liverpool page lads.

15 Jun 2016 22:55:19
The EU had protected us from our own Government, secured worker's rights, cleaned up our beaches, cleaned our air, protected catastrophically damaged fish stocks, built infrastructure, secured jobs, forced our government to safeguard fair justice and helped give us peace in Europe for 70 years. Just check the leave lobby - Putin, Trump, Gove, Farage - they should be enough on their own to tell you which way to vote.
For our children's sake vote Remain.

15 Jun 2016 23:03:21
There will be a huge hit to the economy in the short term, it's license for the Tories to totally destroy what's left of our public services.
The limits on immigration will takes years, possibly a decade to become effective meaning a mad dash for people to come here.
The short term would look very bleak if we Brexit IMO.
I think we need to stay and elect better leaders who will negotiate harder for us. Cameron couldn't negotiate his way out of a wet paper bag and Boris is a bumbling fool.

15 Jun 2016 22:47:58
If we stay in the EU, Britain will eventually become a mere administration of a European Superstate.
For our children and grandchildrens sake. we have to LEAVE. or lose our Country forever .

{Ed033's Note - We have a political talk site for talking about the EU Brexit thing. This site is for talking about Liverpool FC.

15 Jun 2016 23:25:32
Tsteen, u do realise all that money that was spent in your area is actually our money right?
We give about 20 billion a year to them (the eu) they give us about 10 billion back and tell us where and when we can spend our hard earned money, great that ye! And the remaining 10 billion (of our hard earned money) goes on funding things in other countries in the eu! Surely better to have the whole 20 billion to spend ourselves in our own country sorting out our own problems.

15 Jun 2016 23:26:32
Short term pain for long term gain Ron?

16 Jun 2016 00:12:25
I'm astonished ...

{Ed033's note - this long post has been posted on the political talk site. Please go there to talk about the EU Brexit / Remain issue.

16 Jun 2016 00:17:07
I totally agree Ron...

{Ed033's note - post moved to the political talk site

15 Jun 2016 20:59:09
Who is this Tom Brewitt lad?

Believable2 Unbelievable2

15 Jun 2016 21:05:42
He is an youth player who will be playing for the U21s next season as a centre back, and probably will be a regular starter. He has been at Liverpool for a long time and came together over the years through various age groups alongside Rossitter.

15 Jun 2016 21:09:46
He's just a lad from the academy who's being mentioned because he signed a contract the other day best bet for him next season in a loan or a couple of cup games he will probably be about 8th choice sakho lovren matip gomez lucas can brewitt. This is assuming Lloyd Jones ilori skrtel wisdom all leave on top of toure.

15 Jun 2016 22:52:26
The real AG I have to say your knowledge of the youth players at the club is brilliant. Cheers for the input.

15 Jun 2016 23:29:41
Fair play AG thanks mate.

15 Jun 2016 19:52:33
It looks like there is going be a big clear out this summer with the likes of balotelli benteke markovic moreno going plus the players released already my question to the eds is I guess all these players are on big wages and the players we have signed so far wouldn't have been known to many so I'm guessing there wages aren't huge Would you think the is the first stage of the club being sold or are they clearing players first before making a couple of "big signings".

Believable0 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - It is entirely unrelated.}

15 Jun 2016 19:58:29
Thanks eds.

15 Jun 2016 20:01:52
Thanks ed2 just one more question do you know if jk can spend whatever he takes in from player sales.

{Ed002's Note - It is not worth discussing the finances.}

15 Jun 2016 20:18:11
I would be not so sure about Moreno going now. Guerreiro is heading towards BVB, Kolasinic has no interest in moving and interest in Hector as gone down. Chilwell is coming in as competition for Moreno by the looks of it.

15 Jun 2016 20:35:08
So far there is very little signs of any of those 4 players leaving?

15 Jun 2016 20:42:12
If Moreno stays beyond the summer then it's a joke and a failure to address one of the most important position. He single handedly has cost us 10 points last season.

15 Jun 2016 23:04:22
"He single handedly has cost us 10 points last season"

Bit harsh to blame it all on him, it's a team game.

15 Jun 2016 23:45:09
He also created nearly twice as many chances as the next defender in the league, and he was 5th i think in sucsesfull tackles. i'm no fan of bringing up stats like that, but he isn't as useless as many are making him, stop the hating he is a young lad that plays for LFC. Support or stfu please.

16 Jun 2016 03:40:33
Ron, I guess yo have never heard of individual mistakes, then. Football may be a team game but if an individual makes a brain dead mistake, it's all his to bear. His job is to defending first and foremost. He has cost us points since he got here and he along with Mingo, should be gone.

16 Jun 2016 03:52:46
Coutinho took the 5th most shots in the league. I suspect a lot of those chances were passes to him.

16 Jun 2016 05:54:20
I've heard of individual mistakes, but it's very difficult for a full back to make individual mistakes that single handedly cost the team 10 points, unless he scored 5 late equalising own goals.
I want him replaced, but I think it's harsh to say he single handedly cost 10 points, I think at least one other player will have been involved.

16 Jun 2016 10:00:09
Not sure how many points he has cost is but I can say that I have seen him cost us games with either poor passes, decisions or positioning that have led to goals. We win or loose by goals so I think an outfield player can cost you a match with out scoring an own goal.

15 Jun 2016 19:12:57
The Independent has released an 'Exclusive' even though its been known on here for a while, nice one eds ;) Anyway they are saying that the interested party from China is a state backed group called SinoFortone, apparently they have committed a lot of money (5.2Billion) to projects in the UK in the last 12 months, and are now looking to buy Liverpool for £700m. They also have explored the potential to revamp Melwood and build a new stadium.

Believable5 Unbelievable4

15 Jun 2016 19:33:36
Why would they build a new stadium when we've just spent a fortune extending the current one.

15 Jun 2016 20:19:21
The letter they send to UKSV was in February. But strange that they didn't know about LFC staying at Anfield and renovating the stadium.

15 Jun 2016 20:44:30
They specialise in large infrastructure projects.
No real surprise they looked at the possibility of a new stadium but they obviously hasn't heard about the local council 😄.

15 Jun 2016 20:51:23
I honestly believe the next owners will drive the club forward. Thanks fsg and all that but they can't take us to the top I don't think.

15 Jun 2016 20:57:43
These boys have got some cash haven't they? Few billion spent here few billion there. Haha.

15 Jun 2016 18:36:43
Ed002. Regarding the Left back situation. We're all aware we need one now with Enrique gone, Moreno not great defensively, Flannagan favoured more on the right and I remember one of the eds mentioning Gomez doesn't look like he has a future with us. I know hector, chilwell and more recently the young Villa lad has been looked at but is Brad Smith being totally overlooked? Has always seemed solid going forward and back. Seems a little unfair to be honest.

Believable1 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - He does not seem to be making progress under Klopp.}

15 Jun 2016 18:47:48
Shame, looked a nice player. Is LB now the main focus and do you see Amavi being seriously looked at?

{Ed002's Note - There has been an enquired - I explained that.}

15 Jun 2016 20:21:25
Smith has always been an attack minded LB and if he cannot push Moreno at 22, I think it best to let the lad go. It was not so long ago that he wanted to leave either, and he has never been particularly effective as a defender even during his U21 days.

15 Jun 2016 22:22:05
Simple question comes to mind, has someone badly got it wrong in the youth structure that we aren't seeing any development in key areas from that source or are there simply no players good enough coming through anywhere?

16 Jun 2016 03:43:01
Both LBs have no interest in actually doing their jobs as in defending first and foremost hence, they should be gone or in Smith's case, coached up and if no progress is made, let go.

15 Jun 2016 17:21:31
Has anybody seen the arsenal page? They're now copying and pasting ed 002 responses from other pages to answer there own questions.

Lesson, don't mess with the man.

Believable9 Unbelievable5

15 Jun 2016 17:53:42
You mean the all knowing Ed002.

15 Jun 2016 20:25:38
Or woman.

15 Jun 2016 20:56:10
Was the operation a success then?

15 Jun 2016 18:04:31
It's the same story in the UTD page as well.

15 Jun 2016 16:01:26
i don't think it is negative thing to start all those games away. i think klopp likes to play way bcos he is master at quick break and direct play so he prepares away games better than home games. i also think we will not buy much couple more so our team would probably look similar to europa league final at the start of the season and our manager is not new guy like guardiola or conte. interesting time ahead if we play good and take some points we are up there!

Believable2 Unbelievable3

15 Jun 2016 19:24:00
The start will be tough and I think we may drop off.
The catch up will be on though, especially with the top teams in Europe and we can just concentrate domestically.
I think we need some decent signings first. Top 6 will be a massive achievement when you look at the current squad.

15 Jun 2016 23:00:30
top 6? why so negative? I give up.

16 Jun 2016 03:43:33
Dbol is always negative.

15 Jun 2016 14:13:54
Anyone have thoughts on Rossiter going? I know he was highly thought of last year and this year. Curious what went wrong or Klopp just decided that his potential wasn't as high as previously thought.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

15 Jun 2016 14:38:44
Injuries stifled his development. Whilst he was out, Brannagan, Chirivella and Stewart all stepped up and knocked Rossiter so far down the pecking order that he was just going to be another wage on the books.

The next batch of U18's are coming through to the U21's soon anyway. Watch out for Dhanda, Brimmer, Adenkanye and Woodburn.

15 Jun 2016 20:24:43
I have no concerns about Rossitter leaving. Like Cody before him, he was looked at as the next Gerrard and hyped up because he plays in centre midfield and was a local to Liverpool.

He never progressed as hoped and that will be the case with a lot of the youngsters. Good luck to the young man in Scotland.

15 Jun 2016 12:56:56
Arsenal start, middle or end of the season? Does it really matter when we beat them😁.

Believable10 Unbelievable2

15 Jun 2016 13:16:15
It will be a good game to give us momentum at the start of the season.

3 points, no danger.

15 Jun 2016 13:33:07
Seems more than a coincidence to me that our first 3 away games are all in London. Wonder which ball we were? Hot or cold.

15 Jun 2016 13:41:02
before the conspiracy theories start, don't forget we asked to play our earlier games away to allow for completion of the main stand expansion.

15 Jun 2016 16:25:55
more no, i think that just be due to the fact there are quite a few london teams in the league.

15 Jun 2016 14:19:24
Sanchez to play the first half for Arsenal, complete his transfer at half time, and play the second for liverpool. Liverpool 4 - 3 Arsenal. Sanchez with hattricks for both teams, Hendo with the game winner.

15 Jun 2016 15:09:30
Middle around January when they have there mid season meltdown would probably be best time to play them.

15 Jun 2016 21:36:02
At least with that start we will have a pretty good idea of where our team is after a full preseason under Klopp. I agree that the team that played in the Euro final will be the one that starts with the exception of Phil and hopefully Moreno and Migs. hmmm then again a third of the team changed isn't quite the same lol

Anyway pretty excited about the start of the season and counting down the sleeps already.

15 Jun 2016 10:05:15
I know you have to play everyone twice in the league in one season but momentum and confidence are so key to a successful season

Negatives
The fixture list has not been kind to us at the beginning of the season

Positives
We messed up last season more on the easier games than the hard games
Early games are a little more neutral where form takes second place to adrenalin and energy.
We get a good start then we have a superb foundation to win the league

Positives outweigh the negatives!

Believable6 Unbelievable2

15 Jun 2016 13:16:53
The fixture list has been unkind to anyone who has to face us. 😎.

15 Jun 2016 14:36:52
Yes Ron that's what I like to hear. Not us afraid of them but them afraid of us.

15 Jun 2016 14:43:31
Nobig games as this team has shown it can compete. It`s the other games vs lesser known teams we have had massive issues with.

15 Jun 2016 17:49:32
No problem for me, we have to face them all twice so the date that happens in inconsequential. As ron says they will see us as equally tough opponents.

15 Jun 2016 19:05:41
No one is afraid lol.

15 Jun 2016 12:45:16
Hello EDs

During our almost title win 2 years back, Liverpool had a very good psychologist.

With the current team lacking that mental strength to grind out results, giving games away after leading at half time. I wanted to know. Does Liverpool still have a psychologist.

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - did they? He was that good the team bottled it when it mattered.....}

15 Jun 2016 14:09:10
If Liverpool players really need a shrink to motivate themselves, or make them mentally stronger, then there's something radically wrong.
Putting on that Red shirt should be enough!

15 Jun 2016 14:44:33
As far as I know, LC don`t have a shrink. That is the manager`s job and our manager`s arrogance bottled the PL title for us.

15 Jun 2016 17:51:37
No red the players have to take some responsibility, like pushing against palace when we were so far in front and leaving ourselves wide open for the counter.

15 Jun 2016 17:49:48
It was Gerard and Rodgers who had anti psychology effect. keep talking bout winning title way before end. Look at Ranieri. all he said is focus on next game.

15 Jun 2016 19:00:13
Do u actually live in some weird "opposite" based alternate reality lee?

15 Jun 2016 19:24:36
"An anti-psychology effect"

That's a new one on me.

15 Jun 2016 11:46:28
I'm hoping once we start selling, we start buying some quality players. We need a Left back Badly!
Said it start of last season our squad is amongst the worst in the last 20 years and an 8th place finish proves me right.
The cup runs were down to the Anfield night atmosphere carrying us once again.
People saying this squad is good enough for top 4 are wrong, just like you was wrong last season.
Klopp knows we're mid table. There's no way he's going to stick with just these lot. I expect at least 2 new players to walk into the starting line up.

Believable4 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has already agreed to the addition of three players - you are speaking like they haven't.}

15 Jun 2016 11:54:46
Agree dbol, happy enough with squad but we need 2 quality first traders to come in and improve first 11. Not a load of "for the future" or "squad players"

Real players for real teams.

15 Jun 2016 12:11:56
Only karius counts. Matip was practically jan so was Grujic, Grujic is basically markovic coming back off loan and is not a new signing to be counted as part of this window.

{Ed001's Note - go away and grow up! You make the show you are named after seem intelligent with this comment. I am embarrassed for you.}

15 Jun 2016 12:12:32
DBol we are not going to go out and buy a star player for every position. and our squad is not the worst in the last 20years. yet another case of people thinking the grass is always greener, or that it was, when in fact its so long since we were the best. we have plenty of talent in this squad. Obviously it needs work but we only finished 6 points behind the top 4 and we changed manager mid season, and had injuries. Even with all that, we dropped so many points from games we should have had wrapped up.

15 Jun 2016 12:32:36
"Grujic is basically markovic coming back off loan"

Then what is Markovic? Is he now Balotelli? Or is he someone else?

If Grujic is not a new signing then why didn't we play him in the second half of the season? Same with Matip.

You're talking utter nonsense. Sorry, I'm with Ed001.

15 Jun 2016 12:47:08
Put it this way Chelsea stood still and went from 1st to 11th.

15 Jun 2016 13:45:46
Grujic, Markovic. Balotelli. who are they. maybe they are 'no-one'
A man has no name :D.

15 Jun 2016 14:27:57
Sometimes things are pitifully hilarious on here. (Apologies to all, no disrespect intended to anyone) .

15 Jun 2016 14:59:32
DBol, I am struggling to remember the last time you posted anything good about LFC. Contrary to what you may think, we are not as bad as you make us out to be and the cup runs we had were down to the players and manager`s efforts will and determination first, and then the fans and the atmosphere gave them the jump they needed.

15 Jun 2016 18:40:36
Redohio. You said the squad was good?
Why did we finish 8th?

15 Jun 2016 19:31:31
Dbol - you've been on here for a fair amount of time. Surely you must have read the posts and comments (and perhaps picked up a newspaper, too) about Klopp havng to come in without the crucial benefit of a pre-season with unknown players (to him) . Or perhaps read about the key injuries to key players for extended periods throughout the season. Or perhaps about the fact that the players had to learn new tactics, strategies and a new style of playing? What were you expecting? Chelsea FC had the highest wage bill in the EPL this year. Why did they finish 10th? Oh, Chelsea's squad is rubbish too, after having won the EPL the previous year? Right.

16 Jun 2016 03:49:03
Dbol, knows of all those things, Ra1969. All Dbol does is spew his negativity and be willfully ignorant about all the issues Klopp had to deal with and the mess BR had left him to clean up. Dbol, you have nothing good to say about LFC and that is a fact. The good thing is that many disagree with you on this.

15 Jun 2016 10:20:21
Away to Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea in the first 6 games and a home game against the defending Champions. A tough, tough start. But one which could make the season.

Believable9 Unbelievable3

15 Jun 2016 10:40:28
Take a look at the last 7-8 matches. If were are anywhere near top four we have a favourable run in.

15 Jun 2016 11:08:14
That will be 15 points out of possible 18 then
At least .

15 Jun 2016 11:19:42
You do realise we finished 8th last season for good reason. We lost so many points against so called "Lesser" teams it was untrue lol.

15 Jun 2016 11:35:36
Looking at those games and taking last season as a guide we drew with Arsenal, drew with Spurs, beat Chelsea and beat Leicester. Add to that home games against newly promoted Burnley and Hull another set of decent results could have us with 14 points from our first 6. I think we can be positive about this.

15 Jun 2016 11:36:19
Chelsea will be a breeze (werent they the eleventh best team last season? ), we usually beat Spuds, i'd predict a draw at arsenal. 7 points from 9 is a good start for us.

15 Jun 2016 12:26:09
Why do people constantly talk about last seasons results as if they are any sort of barometer to what will happen in the upcoming season? We beat Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last season - so what? That does not mean we are guaranteed 3 points this time. It is a very difficult start no matter how you look at it and we have had a few of these intense starts over the past couple of seasons - it would be nice to have a gentle start whereby we can build momentum. It's true if results go our way it'll really set us up - on the other hand if results go against us it will really crank up the pressure early. I'd of preferred an easier set of opening games to be honest.

15 Jun 2016 14:51:26
Beacause season on season you aim to at least equal a positive result and better the bad ones. If you don't you might as well just ask to be in the Championship next season with 38 losses. It's just being positive. Equal the good results try and improve the better ones. What's wrong with that. Oh I forgot as LFC haven't signed any 'superstars 'yet ( and they may not) there's no point in wanting them to do well.

15 Jun 2016 14:51:26

16 Jun 2016 05:18:36
@tom - what are you on about? My comment has nothing to do with who Liverpool sign or wanting them to do well. I have no really commented on any of the transfer rumours circulating because I have no knowledge of either the players linked or the clubs actual interest - use the search function for my name if you don't believe me. I always want Liverpool to do well I just find it bizarre how fans start tallying up points and results before a ball has been kicked based on last season - to me that makes no sense.

15 Jun 2016 09:26:52
Hey Eds, is the Chilwell deal close to being completed yet? I remember reading a few weeks ago on the site that it was all but done. I haven't really seen him play if I'm honest, so also wanted to hear anyone's opinion of him. Thanks a bunch.
Oh! And everyone have a drink for me tonight! I finally got into the career I've been waiting 3 years to get into. Today I finally got accepted into the Victorian Police force, all the way down in Australia. Woo! Cheers Eds and reds.

Believable7 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have no reliable means of measuring how close anything is to being done.}

15 Jun 2016 10:14:13
He is injured right now so I imagine that is holding up the deal in some way.

Congrats on the job though buddy!

15 Jun 2016 10:28:17
ScouserRob many congrats buddy.

15 Jun 2016 10:06:13
Where do send the bar bill invoice to?

15 Jun 2016 10:11:53
You're alright ed002, I still like you. Have a great day.

15 Jun 2016 16:33:56
Ed002 - Can't you measure it with a piece of string?

15 Jun 2016 09:23:56
So fixtures announced and we kick of at Arsenal!

Means we can kick off with a massive confidence boost if we get 3 points!

Eds quick question - when was the last time we opened up the season with a game at home? It seems every year we are playing our first game away (or maybe my memory is just that bad! )

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - no idea.}

15 Jun 2016 09:44:36
Stoke 3 seasons back Migs saved a penalty in the 90th minute.

15 Jun 2016 09:49:20
southampton at home when clyne scored against us? which was the 2014/ 2015 season.

15 Jun 2016 09:51:54
LFC asked for it to be away so they can make sure the main stand is complete.

15 Jun 2016 09:54:40
Didn't we ask for the first game to be away so that we can have as much time as poss to complete the works on the new stand?

15 Jun 2016 10:38:01
Who is disagreeing with the above comments? They are 100% right. we did ask to be away first up so the stadium could have more time to be completed.

15 Jun 2016 15:02:04
People should stop moaning and let the team go out there and compete on the pitch.

15 Jun 2016 09:19:57
Arsenal, spurs and then Chelsea. First away games of the season for Liverpool.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

15 Jun 2016 09:33:05
At least we can get them out the way.

15 Jun 2016 09:35:36
Arsenal away, Burley, Spurs away, Leicester, Chelsea away, hull, swansea and then Man U!

Well we may as well have some of the hardest games first!

15 Jun 2016 09:53:54
Getting them out the way is one thing, but football is about momentum. Better to start with easier games and get points on table.

Having said that arsenal don't start great.

15 Jun 2016 09:55:52
On a plus note the last 9 games of our title run in don't look to bad.

15 Jun 2016 10:24:59
Hopefully we'll have a fully fit squad for most of the early big games for once!

15 Jun 2016 10:41:29
What real difference does it make? we have to play every team twice. That's it. Could say momentum is key. but with these games grouped together it means we should have a run of games the are supposedly not as difficult. all swings and roundabouts.

15 Jun 2016 11:39:31
Chances are that all players will be fit and injury-free at the beginning of the season so its always the best time to play the stronger teams.

15 Jun 2016 12:05:53
Annie Fields. therefore all the stronger teams will have all there players fit too. I wouldn't say the start of the season is a good time for players. maybe pick up knocks and strains after being off, and not being match fit.

15 Jun 2016 07:51:02
ED01, I miss your review on players performances after each game we play. But I have got one for you.
1. What's your thought on Origi? Why do I feel he should be leading the Belgium line? 15mins cameo seemed to show Lukaku how it should be done.
2. Even if we get a buyer for C. Benteke, do you expect we ll need to add another Striker?
3. Your thought on the impact of a whole-fit season from Captain Handsomeson? The lad has cost us 2 or 3 silverwares imo
4. Do you feel we need a replacement for K. Toure? And who will be you pick?
5. Finally, what do you think is the best solution to our Left Back issue?

Thanks in advance.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - 1. I like Origi a lot, still raw but the boy has plenty of talent. He is way ahead of Benteke and Lukaku. It is not just that he works harder than either, but his touch is a billion times better than Lukaku's. I do not understand how anyone believes Lukaku is all that good, he has all the finesse of a rhino on heat. He controls the ball further than 90% of the players at the Euros can kick it. His movement is poor as well.
2. No.
3. I think he makes a huge difference to the team, it plays better with him. Without him, we have huge gaping holes everywhere. He supports the attacks and protects the back four. Lucas is great at covering the defence, but he doesn't have the legs to get up and down like Hendo. Can gets forward well, but is far too often caught out of position defensively. Milner and Allen may as well not be there when they are in central midfield, they are just missing constantly from where we actually need them to be. We need Hendo fit and firing.
4. No. We already replaced him with the return to fitness of Gomez and hopefully Brewitt will provide emergency cover too.
5. I am not sure there is a best solution. I have not seen an outstanding left back in years now.}

15 Jun 2016 09:15:25
Thanks Ed for the prompt reply.

15 Jun 2016 09:46:39
Hi Ed, love the reply, vivid as aways, and apt.

I've been a reader for years, but "rhino on heat" has just got me inspired to register, hopeully to participate too.

Thanks!

{Ed001's Note - glad to have you aboard mate. Like the name too. Though naming yourself after an Everton player's touch is an unusual choice....}

15 Jun 2016 10:32:16
Cheers mate. Ouch, you're right, I did't think that far ahead, and it's too late for me anyhow.

Also, It seems he's not Everton for long, not sure wha't worse: blue of Liverpool or London? I suppose both have thier likeble days.

15 Jun 2016 15:19:40
Spot on with Lukaku, Ed. The guy is as poor as they come. Origi showed a lot more life, created more chances with his movement off the bench than Lukaku did while starting vs Italy. Look for Origi to get the start in the next game.

15 Jun 2016 17:59:48
He chested a ball in the italy game that no lie bounced about 15 yards off him. At that very moment i thought of ed01 and laughed. Surely he must work on those things in training, surely?

15 Jun 2016 07:45:12
Good morning Eds. Question for ed02 if I may? Totally unrelated to football.

At the risk of you saying
"not on this page", or "we don't discuss that",
I was wondering what your thoughts were on the EU referendum?

I don't particularly care what camp you're in, but you seem like a smart cookie and wondered whether you could give us your opinion on what would potentially happen to the economy etc if we were to leave the EU?

Cheers.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I don't have a camp Mr T as I am not allowed to vote - so my view makes little difference. I know a people whose opinions I respect who are divided as to which way is the best way forward. The recent news that Britain will need to pay child support for immigrants will push many more in to the leave camp. And regardless of that, control of immigration sits as key to the Exit supporters. There are strong arguments to stay as well but it may well be time for change in Europe - not just Britain. If Britain were to vote to leave and then figure out how to do that in a reasonable timescale I would expect the populous of other countries to be demanding a referendum as well. Those with buoyant economies would likely vote the same way, those who rely on EU funding would likely not. To hold Europe together then, this could potentially result in an eventual shake up of the structure and the rules - removing trivial and petty laws and handing down the straight banana and "cheddar" cheese decisions off to the individual countries. In terms of the economy of Britain it is unclear as to what will happen - particularly with the money that is sent to Europe at this time. I would think the economy would be flat for a while in order for the trade side of things to be figured out. I doubt that the suggested boost to manufacturing would happen to any significant extent. So overall, if I was able to vote, I would want a third box that says something like "Stay and Take a Shot at Fixing It". The inconsequentialness of many of the rules and laws needs to be stripped out completely and the focus needs to be on the important factors. A tough call - and a decent question on a day when Liverpool seem to have been linked with less than 20 new players.}

15 Jun 2016 08:28:57
I don't see why we can't stay in but have control of our borders? I'm voting out.

15 Jun 2016 08:49:52
Out all the way for me.

The germans and the dutch want to control everything and strip us to a minimum.

Cameron tried to negotiate new deals earlier in the year and they practically laughed in his face.

I understand eds idea off staying in and fixing things but that ain't going to happen.

We stay in then we are going to carry on being crippled by more immigrants and bigger bills to the EU.

The only trouble is that we will be going into the unknown but there was nothing wrong with us before we joined the EU.

15 Jun 2016 09:01:58
Expat now in Oz, but will an out decision effect work permits for players from Europe?

{Ed002's Note - It is not actually clear what would happen. There would certainly not be any overnight change but the eventual position would likely be a need for work permits and residence permits.}

15 Jun 2016 09:07:23
Out for me as well, was fine before it all and will be after. Nobody knows how exactly it'll pan out if we leave but I don't think it'll be anywhere near as bad as the remain campaign rattle on about every single day.

All they're bothered about are their own pockets. They couldn't care less about the average British worker, we may as well be none existant. In our own country? This needs to change.

I actually think we'll come out. I can only hope so anyway. Could go on forever about it.

15 Jun 2016 09:22:43
We survived two world wars i think we will be fine. The EU has been stripping the GREAT out of Britain for years. Out all the way!

15 Jun 2016 09:39:39
I think one of the main issues is lack of information on the subject. it's extremely difficult to find a non-biased argument either for or against the vote, and all the information is really just opinions and predictions. People do not know what will happen, they can only forecast and assume. Most people I have spoken to have all said they don't know enough on the subject to cast a vote, which is pretty worrying. Only time will tell I guess.

15 Jun 2016 09:53:10
Sorry Jurgen, most of our workers rights etc come from EU law, to the extent that Unions have been advising workers to vote to stay.

15 Jun 2016 10:13:43
I am one of the undecided. The only piece of information I can add is if we were not in EU right now and we were voting whether or not to join I'm pretty sure it would be a majority no thanks.

Nobody knows what will happen if we leave. If we stay we know what will happen. Relatively stable economy with ever increasing demands on all govt depts due to increasing population.

I will most likely abstain and let the rest of the country decide. I just don't know.

15 Jun 2016 10:20:10
@Ruthless you're right. I don't think people realise how many beneficial laws the EU provides. From employment, to environmental to quality control on food.

Also, without the EU, we give the chance for some racist, thuggish party like UKIP to run the country as they see fit.

15 Jun 2016 10:27:51
I'm reminded of the old adage "be careful what you ask for because you just might get it". I'm with Ed002 on this. I'm not a British national, only a keen follower of the political scene. The key is that all voters must know both the pros and cons on any matter, and unfortunately, that is not always the case. It took years and years for (sometimes painful) integration. Will take years and years for (sometimes painful) separation. Is everyone ready for that?

15 Jun 2016 10:31:24
Because we are part of the EU, any player of EU nationality will not need a work permit. But if the point of leaving is to close the borders, then that applies to footballers too and a French or Spanish player will need a work permit.

One thing to consider is what will happen with all the trade between UK and the EU, currently, no import or export duties and movement is easy. If you are an exporting industry, I would really fear for Leaving since anything your company sells to the EU will now cost more and have duties etc.

15 Jun 2016 10:34:02
I will be voting out because the EU. I don't care about immigration if it's monitored correctly. It's proven to help the economy and to be quite honest, I like foreign people. At work i sit at a tabke with 5 people and only 2 are English. I on my left is a Portuguese man, on my right a Pakistani man, and opposite me is a Chinese man. All work, all speak perfect English, all lovely people. What I care about is that the EU want complete control of the European continent, and are now looking to build a European Army. All whilst making a very ruthless enemy in Putin's Russia.

Let the EU and Russia have their own little military stand off and political wars. I want no part of it. Plus we ship £53m a day into the EU and then get told that when we have disastrous floods we still aren't allowed to touch the EU's disaster fund!

We're like the EU's little cash cow and they are milking our economy dry, and then making threats regarding trade and jobs when we want to leave. Re-establish trade links with the commonwealth, re-negotiate trade laws for the EU. As Ed002 says, whilst that jappens we may initially see slight inflation, but once the leaving process has been smoothed out we will reap the rewards financially. But no more political unions please.

15 Jun 2016 10:41:26
The EU probably cares more about workers than their British government, they ensure that things like maternity leave/ pay as well as workers rights are properly kept. People only want to focus on a few stupid laws they impose on us, not the majority which protect justice and prevent exploitation and corruption. Too young to vote unfortunately, but would vote to stay.

15 Jun 2016 10:31:10
im voting out as well we need to have our own rules and not go with Europes rules, we spend something like 35 mill on child benefit to children who have never set foot in this country just because their father works here, and the wife and mother owned a cafe so they were not poor or needed the child benefit, i remember when Cameron tried to keep a payment we should have paid to the EU but with a default payment hangging over our heads he gave in, we give billions to the EU and then are happy when we get a rebate or even if we get a rebate this is the point that gets me, we send so much money over there and our NHS and schools are getting closed the rich politicians don't feel this in any way at all.

15 Jun 2016 12:51:30
Anyone remember the capital of culture 2008? Remember how much money Liverpool got? Thatcher left the city to rot - it was EU money that helped build the city back up to its currently level. People have short memories, these talks of the EU draining money away from the UK are pure fallacy - we get loads of money in EU funding and, as numerous economist's have mentioned, benefit from the 'bloc' trading agreements we enjoy as a part of the EU. If we leave there is no guarantee of striking up amazing new trade agreements, far from it - it is expected to be very difficult, not to mention time consuming (trade agreements take years upon years to reach) . I just don't see any major benefits of leaving and in fact see more problems economically - this is not even mentioning the workers rights that will inevitable be eroded further should we leave the EU. I have seen no compelling argument for leaving which is why, I suspect, the focus has mainly been on immigration - it is a good distraction from the bigger, more important issues at hand.

15 Jun 2016 12:56:18
Its funny how people see UKIP as racists yet when the SNP are pushing for independence there not.

Theres nothing racist about UKIP its about closing the borders too migrants who have no intension of working.

If you have a skill we need then come on in.

15 Jun 2016 13:04:10
Be voting in as I don't really want the Human Rights Bill scrapped eventually. As well as working with the EU to work towards a better future than being left behind. To say we were fine before we joined, that was 1975 so obviously things would be different to the present day, it's a bit short-sighted for that to be a reason. Oh and the possibility of Boris Johnson to be PM with Michael Gove as his right-hand man, sends chills down my spine.

15 Jun 2016 13:43:49
Not normally one for this sort of thing but have just read another of the hundreds of bremain vs brexit articles in circulation. Both of course full of exaggerated stats from both sides and both full of 'compelling' arguments on the economy. My issue is that most conversations from the leave camp start and end with immigration with not much in between. I am all for democracy and would never force someone's hand but really can't understand those voting on a single policy. At the end of then day all 3 major parties support bremain. We will almost certainly cause ourself economic harm when most people reading this are in need of stability to buy a house, pay for a wedding, think about kids etc. And as for the UK we are not the superpower we once were, and better utilising the EU and influencing it, than pretending to ignore it from across the channel.

{Ed001's Note - funny how the countries outside the EU have not struggled for stability, any more those within it. Your thinking is flawed and based on falsehoods spread by the media.}

15 Jun 2016 14:39:01
Barnesybob

You say we are not a superpower yet we have the 5th biggest economy and predicted to go past Germany into 4th in the not so distant future.

Also London is the financial capital of the world so not to bad.

15 Jun 2016 16:45:50
I'm not British (so have no vote) but I live and study here, and the thing that irks me most is when people say vote leave because the Parliament will regain its sovereignty and can pass laws that protect the same rights anyway. Whilst that is true, what government, especially the one that is in power now, would do such a thing? Remember, this is a government that wants to get rid of the Human Rights Act (and ECHR) and install its own Bill of Rights which, as proposed, leaves out major rights. I would not trust the Tories, nor would I even trust a Labour government to do what's right. Right now, voting remain is the best option out of two absolutely atrocious ones.

15 Jun 2016 16:55:34
Ok sorry about that. I was wrong. I love the media.

{Ed001's Note - there is no right or wrong in this vote, some people will be better off in and some will be better off out but those outside of the EU are certainly not suffering from the stability issues that Greece, France and Spain are under....}

15 Jun 2016 00:31:24
Ed 02 Any recent updates or Change in plan as things looks be quite for a while?
Would love to have a thing or two.

Cheers!

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - No change of plan - I will be in Berlin for a few days over the weekend and early next week. I do need to head to the north of England later today so I can attend to a matter tomorrow morning, but I will be back in the afternoon.}

15 Jun 2016 08:36:52
Change is definitely needed but leaving is not the way to go about affecting that change. You can't just step away and hope they cone to their senses. Not really the way we go about things as a nation ordinarily. Not just that, but the economy is still recovering. Hecking about with it now would b daft.

15 Jun 2016 08:39:14
Haha made my day.

14 Jun 2016 23:17:45
Ed002, I'm not sure if this has been asked before or not, but with the EU referendum things coming up, should the UK leave the EU, how would that affect the Pan-European league should it come to fruition?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It won't make any difference at all. It is nothing whatsoever to do with the EU.}

15 Jun 2016 07:33:17
All of the talk about which player we, as fans would like to sign and advice to
Klopp as to which players we want is laughable really. Never mind the star players who can take on 20 players and score a worldy goal. its a couple of tough characters we need. Players who don't lie down and don't give up. A couple of players who you can rely on when things go bad. Fighters who get the others giving an extra 5%. Real leaders with attitude. You can have the best 11 players who can roll over teams but when it comes to a battle, a couple of them go missing. A real leader wouldn't let them hide. Second half of the final was an example, no fighters. All of our great teams have had characters who did not like losing, wouldn't accept a loss. All players at this level can play football. Not all have the heart for a battle. My opinion anyway. Not telling Klopp who to sign, he knows more than me.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

15 Jun 2016 08:03:52
You can have all the fighters in the world but if you have players like migs and Moreno who are both likely to make mistakes all it does is encourage the other team to fight more. We've had plenty of fight as shown in the games against villarral and Dortmund. We need to replace those 2 positions, keep injury free and be more consistent.

15 Jun 2016 08:08:11
The 2x Iceland centre halves as a perfect example.

15 Jun 2016 06:47:17
We finished 8th last season, so we were the 8th best team in the league. What would take us to top 4?
We all agreed that our keeper was a weak point, and our defense. So with that strengthening, would it lift us 4 places? Or do we need to improve in other areas as well?
Would a 20+ goal a season striker do that? In our past, when we had a world class striker (and I'm not saying we don't have that now) we did finish in the top 4 more regularly.
Which of Sturridge, Origi, Ings do you see playing and scoring regularly? 20+ goals in the league.
We also need our midfield to pitch in with goals. I can see Firminho and Coutinho doing that regularly, but that can be argued that they are forwards, and not midfielders.
So we would need Can and Henderson to start scoring.
If our defense is strong, hopefully, we won't need to play our midfield too defensively all the time.
So is our current squad ready to break into the top 4?
Or do we need all round improvement?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - having Klopp all season, instead of an initial few months being held back by a useless manager, will make a huge difference.}

15 Jun 2016 07:15:47
It's a myth that you need goals from midfield. Drinkwater and Kante got about 1 each all season. Leicester's goals predominantly came from their forwards; Vardy, Mahrez, Okazaki and Ulloa. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but after those 4, I believe Wes Morgan was the next highest scorer!

All you need to do is score 1 more goal than the opposition and it doesn't matter where it comes from.

15 Jun 2016 07:36:02
Mk, is mahrez not considered a attacking midfielder?

Also it's a small average to just pick Leicester why not Chelsea when lampard got 20+ or United when Ronaldo got 20+?

U need goals from midfield! Leicester broke all the rules in winning the league. They built there team around a solid defence so unless klopp is going to radically change his style and go defensive I would suggest u will need a couple of your midfield chipping in with 10+ especially if your playing one up front.

15 Jun 2016 07:36:02

I believe a good preseason with the lads is going to be a boost, I remember watching Liverpool last season and from December onwards it felt like there was a game every three days, I guess that most the teams time was spent preparing for the next team. I'm sure Klopp said the weren't training in between at some point.
Also I think it will help that now he has played all the teams in the league, I say this because I felt he was underestimating the lower teams qualities IE palace, watford, Newcastle.
We've got three good forwards going into the season now in Sturridge, Origi and Ings.
With sahko back and a new goalkeeper, I'm saying I'm confident about the season.
Don't want another season of 10 signings. Karius, Matip and Grujic so far. I would add a left back and leave it at that for now unless a first team player leaves.

15 Jun 2016 07:14:46
We need to improve on our first team and not to increase our squad depth. Above a new GK, and LB I would look for two players who is better than Milner and lallana ( both first team quality ) . For ex Dahoud for Milner and Mane for Lallaa. We are doing wrong. Adding squad players and keeping the same old players.

15 Jun 2016 08:05:02
I don't think he was underestimating the lower teams, we don't have a very physical team so that often got bullied by teams like Watford and West Ham. Klopp will change this over time but don't expect miracles in one window.

15 Jun 2016 10:40:00
it does help with getting that goal more than the other team if our goals come from other positions.

15 Jun 2016 06:41:24
Hi eds could you answer a question please. How does the world football rankings work, how do team's get points cheers.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - if you are referring to FIFA's, it comes down to matches played and the rankings of the two teams. If you beat a team ranked higher, you get more points than if you beat a team ranked in a lowly place. It is all nonsense to be honest. Pointless having a system of ranking where the World Cup winners are not top, makes no sense. Also, if you are in the Asian or Oceanic confederation, it is very difficult to improve your ranking outside of the World Cup, as your opponents all tend to be ranked low. They can't improve their rankings to a decent level, as they are only playing other Asian/Oceanic nations in qualifying. It makes it almost impossible for them to rise above European and South American nations, even if they were better.}

Hi BARRYINLOUTH.
Mate, I just read the sad news about your mother-in-law and I am so sorry for you, your wife and kids.
I lost my mother-in-law just over ten years ago, also after a short battle with lung cancer - she didn't even get to have first round of chemo.
On top of that, it was 2 days after our first child was born and she didn't get to see or hold him as she was in hospital and so unwell.
I loved and admired my mother-in-law so much. Your post has really hit home with me and I can fully relate to how you must be feeling right now.
It will be hard for you all, so I wish you strength on the hard days and happiness on the good ones, and peace always.
All the best.

15 Jun 2016 00:36:07
Can't believe I'm saying this but I'm finding it hard to comprehend why LFC are buying zielinksi when Joe Allen is already there. He has been immense the last 6 months.

Believable3 Unbelievable7

15 Jun 2016 02:37:34
He hasn't been as good as people are making it out to be. Its just his performances before were really poor that any sudden minimal improvement is picked up on.

{Ed001's Note - I am still laughing at someone calling a headless chicken offering nothing 'immense'. He was awful but people were getting all excited because he had a beard like Pirlo. Mind he did perform like Pirlo in the defensive areas, ie went missing.}

15 Jun 2016 05:51:28
Tbh he does have an impressive beard Ed.

15 Jun 2016 06:11:05
From my very basic impression of Z, he offers more than Allen does right now and at 22 he has time to improve. Klopp also likes to work with players in advance of them replacing a more senior player - I expect if he's brought in its with the intention of him replacing Coutinho or Lallana over the next 2 seasons.

15 Jun 2016 06:46:00
I've said it before, but despite the pickup in form, Allen still isn't physical or disciplined enough to be a defensive midfielder, but neither is he creative enough (or a decent enough finisher) to be playing attacking mid.

He is obviously a decent footballer and capable of controlling possession with metronome passing, with the occasional blinder thrown in, but is this enough for Liverpool? Can we not find someone capable of controlling the game but also more capable in either defensive or attacking duties? His strengths are also not conducive to the style of play Klopp likes, which is typically a 4-2-3-1 and quick transitions into attack while the opposition is disorganised.

Zielinski may not be at Allens level yet but from the admittedly limited amount I've seen of him, I suspect Klopp wants him to perform Allens role but also add a more attacking edge to that midfield role. I suspect a 4-3-3 and Can, Hendo and Zielinski might provide a good balance of Defence, box to box and attacking flair behind a front 3. It may also allow Klopp to rest Firmino Occasionally and put Zielinski in at no.10 in a 4-2-3-1.

15 Jun 2016 07:37:37
Pirlo is the most overrated players I have seen ed.

15 Jun 2016 08:11:35
Very harsh ed001.

{Ed001's Note - not really. He didn't create, he didn't score and he certainly did not stop the opposition from creating and scoring. All he did was keep the ball moving and run around a lot. Lower league stuff. That is where he belongs. Lower leagues. He is not good enough for the Prem.}

15 Jun 2016 02:59:20
Need someone who can receive ball with his back to opposing team, turn and pass it to attacking third in an instant, Can, hendo not doing that. JA been doing it in fits but more to get out of defense.

15 Jun 2016 11:02:03
With all due respect eds 1 and fellow posters but are we not meant to support all the players of lfc only a while back edd 1 and 2 were telling us off for saying players not good enough.
Big love to eds tho xx.

15 Jun 2016 00:22:01
Haven't got a rumour for you all but just wanted to hear some opinions on origi. I frequently read through this page and have noticed whenever an attacking player is linked with us everyone seems to state how they would link up great with the likes of sturridge, countinho and firmino but seem to fail to mention origi!

From watching him in the second half of the season he's really impressed me and looks as though he will have a great future be it with Liverpool or should he move elsewhere, from what I can see he looks to be a great all round striker, he has great pace dribbling and physicality and has began to develop his heading ability also. Just curious to hear what others think of him as no one seems to share my opinion and I'm beginning to believe I just have a soft spot for him.

I think he's got all the right attributes for a great striker, tall, strong, physical, good in the air, good feet, can bring others into play around him, smart movement, good read of the game etc. The only thing I'm not 100% sure about is his finishing which is inconsistent, but then again it's improved in the last 6 months and he's young still. If he becomes a clinical finisher he could end up being one of the best in the league.
