Great result. Terrible for Harvey. Fingers crossed it ain't to bad and the fact he's young can only be a positive.

Agree5 Disagree0

I rewound it back and watched it again. After seeing it the second time I really wish I hadn’t. Speedy recovery to the lad and I hope it’s a positive diagnosis 🤞.

12 Sep 2021 18:42:12
Unbelievable bad luck. But he’ll be back!

12 Sep 2021 18:58:55
Would rather a clean break than a messy knee
Steel rod in and he could be walking on it in 10 days
Get well soon young man.

12 Sep 2021 19:00:16
I missed the tackle and obviously Sky didn't show any replays, which is the correct thing to do.

I was just wondering JK23, what was the tackle like? Was it just an unlucky incident or was the defender completely out of line? Gary Neville was kinda saying that the red card was more for the injury than the tackle.

Interesting to hear what u thought about it.

12 Sep 2021 19:03:33
Klopp said it may be dislocated.

12 Sep 2021 19:07:37
A quicker recovery with a dislocation or longer than a break? kid must be sick.

12 Sep 2021 19:10:00
Honest opinion, it was reckless, out of control and from behind and a scissor tackle on Elliott and it resulted in a horrific injury on a young player. Red all day long.

12 Sep 2021 19:15:18
Macko I personally didn’t think it was a malicious tackle mate but everyone is going to have different opinions on it. Harvey’s ankle got caught under the Leeds players body and he literally slid over it with all his weight during the momentum.

Klopp has confirmed the ankle was dislocated and has been put back in in hospital. I’m pretty sure a dislocated ankle is worse than a break due to the ligament damage a dislocation will cause over a break.

12 Sep 2021 19:20:16
Wasn’t a nasty tackle wasn’t intentional in my opinion I’ve seen worse tackles and no cards!
Gutted for young Harvey hope it’s. It as bad as it looked!

12 Sep 2021 19:22:05
Correct, VVVV.
I don't even think the ref blew straight away. Salah seemed to get the game stopped and the physio on the pitch.
It took the shine off a good team performance.
Wishing you a speedy recovery, young Harvey.

12 Sep 2021 19:26:06
VVVV it was never a reckless tackle I can only guess you didn’t watch the game, or I’m sure you wouldn’t be saying that, I’m with JK23 here, it wasn’t malicious at all, the momentum and the tangle of legs and the way he fell over is what caused the dislocation, the Leeds player was upset too and what happened, put it this way I thought Pickford’s challenge on van dyke was a lot worse and he got away with that.

12 Sep 2021 19:29:03
VVVV - Spot on. People seem to believe that as long as one leg makes contact with the ball, any tackle regardless of outcome is fair and within the rules. There is a very good reason why tackles from behind have been outlawed for more than two decades, and today exemplified that better than ever.
Klopp foresaw this happening after the Burnley game yet, as always, was sneered at and laughed out the room. Maybe someday English football will protect young players rather than leaving them at the mercy of brutal opponents and clueless referees.

12 Sep 2021 19:35:58
I didn't say malicious, Sid. I said reckless, out of control, from behind and almost a scissor tackle, all of which deserve a red for the reckless endangerment of an opponent and I’m not sure what of those elements is inaccurate? And yes, I agree that Pickford’s was worse because it was clearly malicious with absolutely no intent of playing the ball, but taking out van Dijk.

12 Sep 2021 19:41:17
Fair enough JK23, thanks for summing it up. Just bad luck then.

Hopefully there won't be complications with ligaments etc and he will only miss the bare minimum. Poor chap.

12 Sep 2021 19:45:30
Both a dislocated and broken ankle are about 6-12 weeks recovery. Then getting fitness back.
I was fearing it would be another 12 month injury.
Horrible luck for the lad after breaking through.

12 Sep 2021 19:56:07
VVVV fair comment mate wasn’t having a go at ye maybe we both saw it differently, we will see what Ed has to say in his game review mate.

{Ed0666's Note - my two pennies worth. I’m of the opinion it wasn’t pre-meditated challenge with nefarious intent. I maybe wrong but I’ve seen it a few times and I’m not up in arms about the savagery of the tackle. I’ve seen a lot worse not even given a yellow card. I know my opinion is contentious as there’s a lot of emotion and empathy for Harvey at the moment. Obviously my heart bleeds for young Elliot as I think he has the heart of a lion and the most exemplary professional attitude I’ve ever seen in a young footballer. We wish him luck in his recovery and hope he gets back in the first team sooner rather than later. Wretched luck for the poor lad

Two parts for me. The ground the Leeds player makes up by lunging in, both legs in the air although not remotely together means he has no control of his body or indeed how he lands. This part might not necessarily cause the actual injury but if he doesn't lunge in then the rest doesn't happen. Clearly he doesn't mean to injure our Harvey but for me it is initially a reckless challenge that leads to the horrible injury.
We can all only hope he recovers well, he will be in the best of hands.

12 Sep 2021 20:45:48
Lowe people seem to believe that they have a right to their own opinion as well.

{Ed025's Note - and some will just look for any excuse to bemoan an injury to one of their players JK, it was not malicious but a clumsy tackle from the side which ended up with harvey being seriously injured, it was his body weight falling on the ankle that caused the damage but people like lowe and VVVV will see what they want to see mate..

12 Sep 2021 21:05:43
Ed25 I am with you on this one, Fabinho makes challenges like this all the time in fairness so do a lot of other players, unfortunately it was one of those days for the poor lad, speedy recovery Harvey.

{Ed025's Note - yeah mate im gutted for the lad though, i really believe he has the talent to go all the way and wish him a speedy recovery..

12 Sep 2021 21:08:52
Watch the Chelsea/ Villa game again from last night. McGinn does the exact same tackle on Saul, I think, slides Watkins through and Silva clears off the line. Wasn't a foul last night and Pawson didn't even stop the game today so he didn't see it as a foul today either. Salahs reaction got the medical team on and then the ref stopped it. Harvey terribly unlucky.

13 Sep 2021 09:18:03
VVVV, it was not a dangerous tackle nor was it reckless nor from behind. The Leeds player came in from the left side of Elliott to try to win the ball as cleanly as possible and won the ball, I feel. Its was his trailing foot that caught Elliot's standing leg cos it was still caught in the turf. It was an accident, IMO.

{Ed025's Note - im with you oli..
