Just wanted to point out.

What a job Xabi and his coaching team are doing

Taken a team from bottom two last October to being top and not having lost in the league so far this season.

One to watch?

Xabi is doing bits, for sure. It'll be interesting to see how things work out for him and Bayer moving forward this season or even next season.

He won’t be coming to us probably going to be carlo’s successor if he carries on being a success.

14 Nov 2023 13:33:53
Scouse john L8, I never said he would come to us nor did I say I wanted him to come to us so it seems you are having a conversation nobody is having on this thread.

Also, nobody knows that If Xabi will come to us or whether he will go to RM for sure. And, who says better managers will not be available when Klopp eventually leaves which could be even further in the future should he extend? Too early to make such definitive claims is all Im saying. Let's see him progress and just be happy for him cos I know I am.

Can't think why any young manager would go to RM TBH - don't win the league for a season and they're gone. Surprised Ancelotti has lasted so long there TBH.

14 Nov 2023 13:42:34
OliRed, Scouse John L8 also didn't say that you did?

Looks like he was just offering up his opinion on Xabi's next move. Not sure the needs for such a defensive reply on a discussion post.

Can we, on this site, not even have a general conversation without getting on the back foot if someone offers up a contrasting opinion?

14 Nov 2023 14:41:55
Just trying to be rational here, the OP did ask whether Xabi might be one to watch or not. I think it's perfectly rational for John to interpret that as he did, and giving an opinion on where he might end up - it might not even have been pointed at your post Oli.

With that said I think it's easy to be swallowed by expectations of ex players, even (maybe especially) if they're doing a good job. Let him sculpture his career, while Klopp keeps sculpturing his with us - and let's see how the stars align in the future. For me and from what I've seen of Leverkusen, Xabi is definitely one to watch.

And Gerrard is one to avoid
He hasn’t shown even remotely that he is a decent manager, much less an elite one
At best, he should be an ambassador for the club, coach maybe? But please, not a manager, not until he proves he is at the elite level.

14 Nov 2023 17:52:20
I honestly cannot remember the last time anyone suggested Gerrard should succeed Klopp. Wasn't even that much clamour for it when he was at Rangers.

Could also be on Bayern's wishlist.

He played for them also.

Lfc fan has to have a go against Stevie in a thread he hadnt even been mentioned in. Could only happen on here, honestly where im from i have never heard one of the thousands of Pool fans ever say a bad word against him, there's only admiration and thanks. He will never get the Lfc job and as for Xabi i think the timing will be off. Jurgens here till 2026 and i can see him at Real before then.

Because Ancelotti is a serial winner - won 5 league titles in 5 different leagues; 4 Champions' Leagues with 2 different clubs and numerous domestic cups in several countries.

Xabi Alonso has won f-all as a manager yet. He's got Leverkusen to the top of a 3 horse at best, race in Germany, but the season isn't over yet.
