Matip - A liverpool legend in my eyes, shame injuries got the better of him.

Thiago, very unlucky player kind of reminds me of how it went with how it did with Ings, had the potential but with injuries it made it impossible to work out.

Wish them the very best of luck.

Matip - prob in same bracket as Henchoz for me. Not a legend but a very good player most of the time. Thiago, unfortunately will be forgotten quickly like someone like litmanen.

I'd put Matip in the same bracket as Agger. Cult hero, rather than legend. Gave us 8 years of his life and although he struggled with injury he gave us some great memories. If he hadn't had so many injuries we'd probably have another trophy or two because he actually dovetailed with Virgil brilliantly as a partnership. The only CB we've had who did. Hopefully Quansah will step up now and become even better than Matip ever was.

Prediction that use of the words 'Koop', 'Koops' and 'Kooper' is going to go up exponentially on this site over the next few months.

Banter:

To all Liverpool fans, let's prepare our hearts for Kloop's farewell by watching the farewell at Mainz, Farewell at BVB Dortmund.

Lets see if its any different from previous template of Klopp. I expext it different since we are Liverpool, European Royalty. If its same, i will burn Klopp's poster.

Ed, anything on FSG trying to acquire a majority stake in Vasco DA Gama . Any truth in that?

{Ed002's Note - With potential Everton owners 777 Partners having a crumbling empire, clubs are looking at their assets. Vasco da Gama is part of that and has been for sale for a while with BlueCo having had exploratory talks after signing two players from them last summer. FSG could look to them also but there could be some legal hurdles to deal with as a Brazilian Court has removed the owners from being able to run the club. Standard Liege and Union Berlin are also embroiled in this mess.}

Getting rid of VAR and having automated offsides will make football complete again. Well done to Wolves for starting this motion, now let's see who votes to keep it. i can pretty much guess who will!

"complete again" what a load of guff.

Back to ref incompetence, at least with VAR there is a chance some decisions are correct. As if somehow the purity of the game is affected by having horrific decisions even more prevalent then this year.
Fix VAR, getting rid of it is insanity with how much money is involved in the Prem.

Here's a comment made about Klopp from a Newcastle fan:

"All I can say is, what a man. The journey he's taken you all on as fans must have been incredible. Must be heartbreaking seeing him go, but as they say, don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened. A truly special manager, I remember how you guys were when he took over, there was a lot of disappointment at the club, you were nowhere near PL and UCL winners, what he built after losing Suarez and Coutinho has been incredible. You deserved 3 PL titles during his reign. As a outsider looking in, all I can say is I have so much admiration for this man and your club, he got you as people from the start and he will be a scouser at heart for life now. Genuinely sad to see him go, the league is a far worse place without him in it, even if he does batter us every time you will go on to so much more greatness, but the mark this man has left on your club will be remembered forever. Nothing but respect. Good luck Jurgen and thankyou for blessing our league with your style, humour, tactics, passion and sheer desire to win.

Now this part hit me really hard:

"But as they say, don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened. "

This right here, is the way I feel about Klopp leaving. Imagine not witnessing ALL that we have under Klopp thu out his time here. I could not think about it.

Thanks, Jurgen! YNWA!

Just read a stat that we have been dribbled past more times (413) than any other team across Europe’s top five leagues this season.

Just shows our lack of defensive minded personnel in midfield, and the standoffish-ness nature of our back 4.

Worrying reading. Slot has a bit of a job on his hands defensively.

Was Van Dijk playing No.6?🤔.

15 May 2024 17:26:17
Wow who’s counting all these stats - weird.

15 May 2024 17:48:30
Gotta admit that is the first time I've ever heard of this stat 😂.

Our defensive issues have to be down to coaching also not just the players. I won't miss the keystone cop defending that's for sure.

15 May 2024 21:01:01
I read that as well somewhere last week. I've no doubt it's right, the amount of times players just seem to ghost past our players is unbelievable. Don't think there enough determination in our defending to be honest.

16 May 2024 02:04:46
I do wonder how many of them dribbles happened after Klopp announced he was leaving.

16 May 2024 10:00:40
Teams have been running straight through our midfield for a few seasons now - it has nothing to do with Klopp's announcement.

The inverted fullback was the initial solution to the problem. It was a successful quick fix to that specific problem but opened up other major weaknesses that we just haven't come close to fixing.

Wherever we lose the ball, if we don't win it back almost immediately with our press, we are so out of shape that the opposition will almost always get a shot at goal.

16 May 2024 10:49:47
Mac, Endo, Elliott and even Jones struggle with this. All good players but stopping players going by them is not their strong suit. Happening all season, not just since the announcement.
