If talisca comes, reckon lallana and or Henderson will be off, just too many players, or were selling coutinho for big bucks and don't want teams knowing were flush and desperate to please fans. Maybe Benteke, Mario and Lucas r outs, and a surprise . but who knows apart from klopp I suppose.

25 Jul 2016 23:58:58
If tallisca comes, lallana and Milner will have to go, and we'd still have too many.

26 Jul 2016 03:00:33
I'd agree with Fencey, there is enough in the squad now for both Lallana and Milner to leave. I don't believe Talisca is coming though, it makes less and zero sense.

26 Jul 2016 03:54:41
I am starting to think Lallana is off as well. A little surprised as Klopp has previously stated he likes Lallana's work rate, however watching LFC Press Box (I know, I know), one pundit's views were that Lallana is too slow for Klopp's desired team and is adding GW and Mane to remove Lallana as he cannot make him quicker.

Still though, would have to think Milner and Lucas are also out as the team bloat is huge.

If Coutinho was going, I just think he would have by now. It all seems quiet on that front, on his day he is lethal, teams that are competing for the title and champs league may see him as inconsistent at this stage of his career?

26 Jul 2016 07:24:13
If ANY of the midfield rumours are true (I'm hoping they're not by the way), I hope it's the Moussa Sissoko rumour. Allen gone and Lucas seemingly close still despite injury I think Sissoko and Stewart could Form competition for when a stronger type of midfielder is needed. I know we already have several players that CAN play that role but I do prefer players playing their best roles not being used as stop gaps. I still don't think he's needed mind but I could understand Sissoko more than Talisca or Meyer. Sorry scratch that whole 5 minutes of typing as I've just remembered the Medel rumour, now that would be a great buy. Imagine playing a Pulis team, you need to be up for a fight as well as a game of football, Medel and Grujic in the centre of the park would take some knocking of the ball plus both are technically good and can play lol.

{Ed001's Note - we should sign Medel just to make me happy. Friday would be good, as it is my birthday!}

26 Jul 2016 07:26:49
How would Lallana fare in Central Midfield?

26 Jul 2016 07:57:20
Very badly andy, he has as much strength as the powder puff girls. Scratch that they actually are strong compared to him.

26 Jul 2016 08:48:28
We could have him pop out of a cake like the stripper in under siege.

26 Jul 2016 11:45:29
Friday is also my birthday Ed! Happy birthday.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate, happy birthday to you too. 21 like me?}

26 Jul 2016 13:43:50
First off, happy B-Day, Ed. Now, Lallana and Milner for me, should both leave or either should leave in this TW as Mane and Wijnaldum already replaced them. I hope this Talisca rumor is pants because that`s another AM we don`t need.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

26 Jul 2016 13:53:29
My birthday today. just saying.

{Ed001's Note - happy birthday mate.}

26 Jul 2016 15:48:33
Ed I don't wanna stir the pot but is it now looking like Milner and/ or lallana are going to leave as I just can't see where they will play, Milner prime example he left city to come and play with us not to be a squad player, thanks in advance.

{Ed001's Note - as I have said all along, we are open to selling them both, if we can find a taker. Spurs are still showing interest in Lallana, so that could be a possible, but I doubt they will pay enough.}

26 Jul 2016 16:10:47
21 again for the 7th time, I have a youthful face but not sure how long I can fight the greys convincingly though.

{Ed001's Note - it is only my second time at 21, but I did spend a few years at 22, 23, 24, 25.....}

26 Jul 2016 17:38:52
Ed001 - happy birthday fella, I hope you get your wish mate. Do you drive a Delorean?

{Ed001's Note - if only! I do have Michael J Fox's youthful good looks though....}

26 Jul 2016 17:58:15
Ed001 I just wondered if that's how you were going back in time lol. Medel would indeed be a great birthday present, for most of us I think!

{Ed001's Note - I guessed mate, you just have to learn to count backwards instead, it works the same when you stay looking young and beautiful as I do....}

25 Jul 2016 21:18:09
So long Allen. Such a great having inspired the likes of Xavi and Pirlo to. follow in his footsteps.

Though in all seriousnes a good servant no matter what others think IMO. Never made a fuss about not playing and performed solidly when called up especially last season. Always liked the wee man and would like to wish well in his future endeavors.
Take of that hair in stoke though 😰.

Brad Smith flies home from LFC Tour to complete £6 million pound move to Bournemouth, after agreeing personal terms.

26 Jul 2016 07:51:54
I do wish him well as you cannot fault his effort or commitment. Did his job without grumbles or moans. He was just one of those wrong Rogers buys, wrong buy for wrong club then over hyped by Rogers and over paid, all going against him unfortunately. That all said he did a job when he played and for that I wish him well.

25 Jul 2016 21:11:50
So After a busy few weeks of Transfer activity and Rumors, I have to add a little. We have had many posts with varying comments on all activity. Even giving players a hard time for the Transfer fees! let's cut Klopp some slack, and wait until he has his squad and we have at least started the season. Get behind the Squad and Management of it please.
I for one are excited to go and watch 2 games this week (Rose Bowl and Santa Clara) I will be happy to report back on performance of our new players (if anyone thinks this may be helpful) Just wanted to give my 2 cents worth.

I will be in Pasadena for the game against Chelsea too. Let's see if our views vary after the game when we post our thoughts here after the match ;)

25 Jul 2016 22:36:41
I will be at both the Chelsea and AC Milan games. Very excited!

26 Jul 2016 00:05:36
Nice one the real AG and PowerLFC! A few beers and hopefully a good game. I can't wait, it has been 3 long years since I last saw a game.
These overseas pre-season Tournaments are great for Ex-Pats abroad and overseas Supporters. And I am sure good for the bank balance, after ticket sales (90,000 Rose Bowl 68,000 Santa Clara) and shirt sales etc.

25 Jul 2016 21:11:38
I think that's it for in comings for us, bar a left back, so early days, here's my opinion.
Karius for mignolet- we all know migs problems, Karius is young looks more comfortable with his feet, and hopefully can command his area, yet to be seen, too early.

Mignolet for bogdan - mignolet is an adequate replacement if needed.

Matip and Ragnar for toure and skrtel - toure was getting on, had some heroic games but Ragnar is younger and should be able to take his role and maybe push for a starting role. Matip seems more comfortable as a ball playing CB, and can't be as tash as skrtel.

Gruijic for Allen - Allen is a decent player in a three man midfielder, ticks us along, but not much more, gruijic' a physical presence should allow him to flourish more.

Mane for ibe - ibe had potential, but mane is ready now, and definitely Imroves our starting 11, worth the 15-20 million outlay.

Wijnaldum for? Maybe lallana - more versatile, more direct, probably not as good technically but far more effective, running around a lot shouldn't be a defence for a Player, can't really offer less goals.

Ings for benteke really - suits our play more, good finisher, at the moment is third choice, but will push hard to be considered.

A left back for smith, again moreno is average but may push on if he is not guarenteed a spot.

Overall I think overt player has improved our squad, just need to sell players who won't play, balotelli, wisdom and ilori, and players who for me just take chances away from youngsters and won't really improve - lallana Milner.

Believable6 Unbelievable3

25 Jul 2016 21:23:18
Good post fencey, I think matip will be a great signing as you said very good on the ball, he is a big presence, reads the game very well and has great pace. It will also help our defenders having a goalkeeper who will command his area and give instructions.

25 Jul 2016 21:34:14
Its been our best window for years.

Really has shredded the team, as everyone we have signed is an upgrade.

Where getting 30 mil near enough for Allen and ibe. Who would of predicted that. There is still more tk leave aswel.

We have no paid 20 nil for mane and 12 mil for wijnaldum. Not bad.

26 Jul 2016 06:20:39
We have 8 players we have to move on probably. luis alberto, tiago illori, andre wisdom, lucas leiva, markovich, balotelli, benteke, adam lallana and/ or james milner. we have prospective buyers for alberto, lucas, markovic, balo and benteke. it looks pretty good.
I am for one not very excited about mane or GW but as long as we trim the squad i don't really care.
if we can offload all the players we don't need i think this will be a very successful summer window for us.
anywhere in top 4 next season and we should be well setup, This window was all about trimming our squad to minimum and so far it has been good. still a long list of players to be sold/ loaned but if we manage that i think that is very good business and approach by LFC and finally a transfer window that makes sense.

Would like to be among the first to wish Joe Allen luck at his new club Stoke City!

He may not have been everyone's cup of tea, but he leaves with good memories and as a player who always gave his all for the club!

Good luck to him, and may he have every success at the Potters! He deserves it!

Honest decent lad. Wish him all the best.

25 Jul 2016 20:37:23
Hey Eds, is Benteke any closer to sealing a transfer away from LFC. Saw practice over the weekend at Stanford University Campus and all the Belgium and England players were there except him. Has he stayed on the end if the pond to wrap up his deal?

Thought it is worth mentioning how once again, FSG, have once again listened and have allocated priority tickets throughout the season to anyone located within a 'L' post-code.

Football isn't necessarily after all.

Great touch and another reason why we should be proud to have them as owners.

Hopefully other clubs will take note in recognition of whom actually made their clubs what they are today.

Believable7 Unbelievable3

25 Jul 2016 20:59:35
Forgive me but I don't understand why that's a good thing. Why is someone with an L postcode more deserving of a ticket than anyone else?

25 Jul 2016 21:35:55
Davey is one of the guys who think people who live in Liverpool/ Scousers should get priority over everyone else when it comes to tickets, fans opinion etc.

Needless to say I disagree and have had a few discussions on this issue here in the past.

25 Jul 2016 21:43:04
Daveybootle obviously have a L postcode, Puzzled Red - so it is a good thing for him i am sure and why not? After all he is one of those few who made the club what it is today :S.

25 Jul 2016 22:03:57
Because the l postcode is one of the poorest in the country. Not everyone is able to buy multiple tickets in cup schemes etc. I struggle getting tickets every year and live less than 8 miles to the ground. Now I appreciate the day trippers giving to the club, but they bring no atmosphere and passion.

25 Jul 2016 22:14:50
Puzzled red living up to your name.

25 Jul 2016 22:48:46
The clue is in Davey's name. I'm with puzzled here though. We didn't find Liverpool. Liverpool found us. We all have our reasons for supporting Liverpool. None of which is any better or worse than living in a certain postcode.

I honestly get the importance of communities and giving back but why should one fan be seen as more important than another?

I am pretty sure this is a marmite topic. You either agree or disagree. There is no grey here.

25 Jul 2016 23:58:03
rl73 really do understand where your coming from about day trippers and your sense of ownership it's a good thing that your so proud of your club that u want everyone to show the same passion as the local loyal supporters, the only thing though is where all different mate and next time your there and u experience that throw your arm around him u might find he loves the club as much as u just in a different way. The day I get my chance to come to anfeild will be the first and I'll be bringing a lifetime of passion and hope I can have a beer with u lot at a local bar.

26 Jul 2016 06:19:52
Ex scouser living in oz now. I have no problem at
all with some priority for locals. I struggle to get a ticket everytime I get back (hear at the moment actually) and it's only thanks to local relatives that I get to see a game. I'm sure it's just as hard for non locals, and clearly many here disagree, but remember the name of the club. Locals have scraped the money together over the years to get to a match. Easy when it was cheaper, but as the game and the club have grown it's so expensive now. Remember, it was years of passionate local support that built the club into what it is today (yes and other things I know), and those of us living afar now get the benefits of that historical success through liverpools popularity and wide exposure.

26 Jul 2016 08:39:27
I'm in the same position as burkey, i spend a minimum 6 months in oz with work/ football, I'm lucky enough to have a season ticket so it's never a hassle to go see games. I whole heartedly agree with there being an allocation for those in the "L" area, they help to create a far better atmosphere, before u all lose your nuts, those coming from abroad or other parts of the U. K. are much appreciated supporters of the club, but they r there to watch the match and if they don't go often they become totally absorbed in the game and the atmosphere around them which is utterly brilliant for them to experience.

It's the lads that are local or can get to many games a season that are singing their hearts out with songs and chants as there not wrapped up in the experience of going to Anfield. They have become some what used to it and therefor it becomes just as much a social event and about creating the atmosphere as it is about going to the game and seeing our mighty club on the pitch. We have lost some of that atmosphere in recent years, but we all witnessed how good it can be with some of the Europa league matches last season, being midweek night games a majority of the crowd was local, if we want that every game we have to be able to get those lads in the ground to help create that atmosphere. It can only be a good thing lads.

26 Jul 2016 20:07:11
I am from Liverpool and have always struggled to get tickets to the game. I think the idea of 'daytrippers' is very derogatory and not a true reflection of a lot of the fans, outside of the "L" postcode, who attend. I'd prefer it if we didn't make this divisive idea "local" and "out-of-town" fans - we're all pulling in the same direction right? We all want the best for our club right? Wish local fans would stop making this distinction, it alienates supporters and it ain't right.

In terms of this policy I think it is good simply because many local fans have struggled badly to make it to games, partly due to cost, but mainly due to availability. I'm not saying fans outside of the city don't deserve a chance to see the club - simply that fans who live in, who are born in and part of the city, deserve an opportunity to obtain tickets (which such a scheme allows) . It is a good move but please let us appreciate, enjoy and welcome all the reds who visit from outside the city - they are part of the red family and just as an important part of the family as any fan.

25 Jul 2016 17:58:20
There's still a lot of uncertainty ahead of the season, will there be any unexpected departures? Who will be our starting CBs? Who will start in midfield? What formation will Klopp use? How will Wiji be used? How will Ings be used? Will our youth players get any pitch time?

I find it all rather unsettling and I'm now wishing the next three weeks away. I cannot wait for the season to start.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

25 Jul 2016 18:14:22
Agreed.

Will they lower the price of pies at the ground?

25 Jul 2016 19:00:32
I know you're still a big fan of Brendan, but surely this is an uncertainty we need, and haven't had in recent years? Selection dilemmas are the best kind of dilemmas!

Under Rodgers, for almost his entire tenure the team picked itself. If fit, Sturridge, Sterling, Coutinho, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Moreno, Sakho and Suarez played. I mean you can forgive that for Suarez. He would start in any team in world football because even an off form Suarez is in the top 10 players in the world. An on form Suarez can make Messi look average.

But under Rodgers you just knew who he would pick all the time. It was predictable and the lack of competition shone through as soon as we had injuries. Klopp had to deal with his average squad for the first 8 months of his career here, so I'm glad he is being given the backing to change things, and bring back that uncertainty over who will start. We haven't had that since we had Carragher, Skrtel, Hyypia and Agger fighting to start. Or Gerrard, Lucas, Alonso, Mascherano, Benayoun and Sissoko.

The overall quality of the squad has just fallen away over the last 7 or 8 years.

Not being able to guess 90% of the starting XI is definitely a good thing! Don't knock it buddy!

25 Jul 2016 19:16:24
You are joking right?

25 Jul 2016 19:17:14
A like the injection of pace we've bought for the counter attack. And the front 4 has me excited and hopefully matip and karius sort our defence out. Can't wait.

25 Jul 2016 20:05:47
Looking forward to it, we've made some improvements in the squad and the players have had a decent pre season together.
It's going to be a great season for LFC 😎.

25 Jul 2016 22:38:53
Muscat, MK is right. You seem to be unsure and uncertain since BR left and Klopp came in. I wonder why? I suggest you substitute your uncertainty with excitement as now, we have interchangeable players that offer different things. Under you boy, we were predictable and our squad had similar players, a problem Arsenal suffers from. Get ready for the season and be excited, Muscat. Leave your "uncertainty" at the door.

26 Jul 2016 00:01:22
That's bang on Ron, nice post man.

26 Jul 2016 03:44:07
Think a few of you misunderstood my post, I'm taking about nervous anticipation. I've had enough of transfer speculation and talk of who will play where, i just want the season to start now.

25 Jul 2016 17:17:57
Just to stop the constant willems questions see post by ed002 in march.

"Left backs options do include some players, such as Juan Jesus mentioned above, who can also play centre half, which tells you how little Klopp feels he can rely on the fitness of Sakho.
Jose Luis Gaya (Valencia)
Lucas Digne (Roma)
Jetro Willems (PSV)
Raphael Guerreiro (Lorient)
Sead Kolasinac (Schalke)
Arthur Masuaku (Olympiakos)
Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord)
Jonny Castro (Celta)
Andrew Robertson (Hull)
Ali Adnan (Udinese)
Jin-Su Kim (Hoffenheim)
Filip Mladenovic (Koln)
Gaya to me looks very similar to Moreno, slightly quicker, better delivery, but lightweight. Jonny is more of a utility player who can fill in across the backline, so is probably being considered as a back up option, I would think. I haven't really seen enough of the rest, and I am sure I have missed some, such as the really difficult to spell lad Kolodjziek (sp? ) who I am not sure if he is a left back or centre back, having never seen him play. "

So to sum up he is on our list of targets so it is likely we have shown some interest. Just have to be patient and see if the club follows through.

Believable2 Unbelievable2

25 Jul 2016 17:36:22
Guerreiro moved to Dortmund and Digne has moved to Barca.

{Ed002's Note - None of these are of interest to Liverpool - I have explained where the interest is.}

25 Jul 2016 17:59:13
Willems made 15 appearances, playing only 989 minutes in the Eredivisie last season. That surely is a major concern for any club that may have an interest in him? I have no knowledge of the player but did some research and it seems like his continuous knee problems are far to big of a risk to take on, one which LFC should stay clear of.

25 Jul 2016 16:48:23
Greetings all,

I would like to say great job to the Eds for managing another silly season.

I would like to ask the Eds, if assuming we get a LB how far have we come since this time last year in terms of personell.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed041's Note - so far you have bloated it further it seems.

25 Jul 2016 19:19:00
You will get the answer for this question only next May. There is absolutly no way to know how signings will turn out in advance. Signings are always a bit of gamble.

25 Jul 2016 20:01:24
7 in
Out- Enrique, Toure, Skrtel, Rossiter, Sinclair, Texiera, Ibe
Canos and vigoreux.
6 or 7 youngsters released
3 out on loan.
Still bloated and I'm sure the club are working on moving 5 or 6 more first teasers on but as we know it's not always that simple.

25 Jul 2016 16:46:03
It seems to me like we've missed out on our targets and the committee has put forward names to replace the original target.
Ed has said Wij was an alternative to zielinski.

Believable0 Unbelievable4

25 Jul 2016 17:28:32
Who else have we 'missed out on'?

25 Jul 2016 18:08:48
Messi, Ronaldo, Ibrahimovic, Gotze, Kevin Durant, Von Miller etc, the usual bunch.

25 Jul 2016 18:21:19
Who have we missed out on? Only Zielinksi and that was our fault rather than the player not wanting to come/ can't afford/ bigger club etc.

25 Jul 2016 21:08:17
Eds 1 and 2 know more about this, but it was my impression that we will have many targets for different areas of the squad.
Some deals will get over the line, some won't. There are a variety of reasons - clubs not wanting to deal, agents negotiating with several clubs, players not wanting to move to LFC. It is an unpredictable business which is why the club will negotiate on several deals and only finalise a few.

We are always going to "miss out on targets" if you accept the above. I've said it before, you don't win the league in the transfer market.

25 Jul 2016 22:34:10
I don't understand how a club can miss out on a first target that's cheaper than his alternative.

It's crazy, it's saying we won't pay less for our number one target.

26 Jul 2016 15:09:02
Zielinski was younger and needed development, where as wijnaldom is older and has proven he can play BPL.

25 Jul 2016 16:44:51
Amazingly the match against man city on 31st December wasn't sold out and they removed selling criteria, and now I have two tickets!

It will be my first anfield game and I'm already buzzing- I've been waiting for years and never been able to get tickets.

There may be more tickets so get there quick reds!

Gone now except for two singles in the back corner row of the Anfield Road end.

I figured when I saw your post, I'd try to buy two from Canada and explain to my wife that I'd be gone for New Year's.

Good news is, those sort of surprises could lead to me never needing to ask permission again in the future. ;)

25 Jul 2016 19:32:06
Thank god I saw this, I rushed to the LFC website and somehow secured 2 tickets for me and my Dad as well. Over the moon. But I've got to say, what a headache.

25 Jul 2016 14:38:59
Hi Eds and fellow reds.

A quick open question, our new keeper. I do not know much about him at all, I wondered if people can tell me much about him?

Specifically, is he going to be the much needed answer to our keeping issues?

Fingers crossed, i hope so.

25 Jul 2016 14:23:39
More stories on Max Meyer, not see that much to give an opinion but looked skilful from what I've seen in rare Bundersleague games I've watched. Not sure if it's reliable but what are people's opinions of him.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2016 14:41:28
That he surely won't b coming to Liverpool.

25 Jul 2016 13:46:31
Might seem a stupid question this, but regarding loanees; I'm thinking about lads such as Lazar Markovic here.
Bought for £20 mill., but loaned out last year and (if not sold) then loaned out this year again too.
I know this is kind of crude but if Clubs pay a loan fee, say £4 million per season - over 3 seasons.
Liverpool subsequently lift £12million in loans over the 3 seasons - then sell him for 10million before going into the 4th and final year of his contract.
The perceived financial loss doesn't seem so bad.
Is this a naive way of looking at complicated financial affairs? Or would clubs take a punt on players knowing they can off-set their risks using such a formula.

Believable1 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - There were no such loan fees paid and taking all else in to account - wages, insurance, interest on debt etc., this is not a money spinner.}

25 Jul 2016 14:36:08
Why can't people here forget about the money!

25 Jul 2016 16:17:31
Whilst I understand the eds stance on not wanting to get involved in money discussions, I thought that was a reasonable question.

25 Jul 2016 16:31:03

Just bought myself and my fiancée some tickets to watch MK Dons vs LFC U21's on the 1st of August!

Massively looking forward to it. Money has been tight lately so any opportunity to watch any Liverpool side is exciting for myself!

Still a lot of tickets for the reds fans in block 26 and 27. Dunno if the Eds will let me post a phone number for the ticket office, but give it a bell and come down and support our young lads. Stadium MK is a spectacular modern arena and you are guaranteed to enjoy it.

I worked selling hot dogs in the MK stadium once during a friendly against spurs.

Literally the worst shift I have ever worked in my life.

25 Jul 2016 15:08:37
I wouldn't like to be in the food stand to be fair. Being so close to a game and missing all of it would make me feel like a right silly sausage. Plus on the odd occasion you did glimpse the game you'd have no idea what was going on, so you'd constantly be playing Ketchup.

{Ed001's Note - I am sorry but I don't know why anyone would help out Franchise FC by buying a ticket to their stadium. They are the epitome of all that is wrong with modern football.}

25 Jul 2016 15:39:34
Sorry Ed, I too have tickets to that game. For £7 a pop, I just seen it as a good opportunity to see a reds game, albeit the U21's. living down here now, getting to any Liverpool game is usually a nightmare.

{Ed001's Note - I just find that team extremely distasteful. MK should have made their own team.}

25 Jul 2016 16:18:03
Yeah I do agree with what you're saying, next season should be interesting with MK Dons and Wimbledon in the same league! If they had created their own team, what league would they have started in out of curiosity?

25 Jul 2016 16:44:47
Hi Ed, I don't really know what went on between MK Dons and Wimbledon. As Stuie said though, it's £7 a ticket and it is rare:
A) for any Liverpool side to play within 50 miles of me!
B) for me to actually be able to afford to go!

The previous lowest amount I had spent on a game was £40 (ticket and travel) to see us play Bayer Leverkusen in a friendly.

I have previously paid £70 (ticket, travel and hostel) to watch us against Besiktas, £90 (ticket and travel) to watch us play Man City, and £55 (ticket and travel) to watch us play Sunderland.

This game, albeit only the U21's, is costing me about £15 (ticket and travel) so for me the morality of which team is hosting the game doesn't come in to it. It's only the 5th Liverpool game I'll have been too. I wouldn't give a monkeys if it was being hosted by Dunkin Donuts FC 🍩!

I'm ignorant to the politics of MK Dons. All I know is they have extremely fair ticket prices and the stadium is probably the cleanest I've ever been too.

{Ed041's Note - mk didn't have a team, so when Sam hamman sold one to Pete winklema who then relocated the club many miles away from the fans. He has since shown no feeling towards the many thousands of fans it screwd over. I hate the club with a passion.

25 Jul 2016 18:22:50
Does sound pretty bad that! Luckily, I'm going there to cheer on the young reds haha!

25 Jul 2016 19:17:01
😄 so we know not to ask MK anything about MK Dons and Irish politics.

25 Jul 2016 13:28:55
Hey Ed002, could you please explain how Klopp played into Balo's agent's hands?

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Managers do not come out and make public statements about the future of players - aside from being unprofessional it removes all leverage that the club may have. I have explained already that what he did suited Mino who is working on a little something.}

25 Jul 2016 14:31:37
it could explain why Mario is so relaxed about his situation, knowing that mino has something up his sleeve.

25 Jul 2016 15:09:09
We have tried everything possible to get rid, but to no avail, nobody wants him, didn't really leave klopp much choice!

25 Jul 2016 16:41:04
Imagine this. You see a STRIKER clean in, One on One in a game. Must score
He puts one foot on the ball, drags his body round and attempts to back heel it into the net. The ball goes closer to the corner flag than it does to the goal, and the keeper just looks at him like a right dick.
And then your Club goes and signs him. That's Liverpool and Balotelli for you.

25 Jul 2016 18:35:02
Mino has always got something ready, very well connected man he is. his nickname should be the "pied piper"

25 Jul 2016 13:27:11
Haven't seen much of Chilwell can is it potential he has or first team? Can someone give me a scout report please?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2016 14:10:23
Saw him play vs Celtic on Sat and he was very good, way better than Moreno but that`s not a high bar as any FB who can defend even slightly, is better than him. I will say that the Ed01 has said that he`s spoken to those in the know, and they say he will be top class and Klopp`s best friend david wagner (manager at huddersfield Town where Chilwell played on loan last season) recommended him to Klopp. That`s all I got, bro.

25 Jul 2016 14:13:46
As far as I am concerned he could go straight into the 1st team, he is a major upgrade on Moreno, he has the potential to be our left back for the next 10 years, I really hope we can get this deal done, even if we paid £10m for him it would prove to be a bargain.

25 Jul 2016 14:15:05
When he was on loan at Huddersfield I saw him play 4 games and he was the best player on the park for 3 of them. He is comfortable with the ball at his feet and has the ability to make the correct pass or be a threat attacking the opposing full back.

Defensively I would say his positiong needs work if he was the be starting in the BPL due to the fact he does like to get forward. In the championship some of the mistakes he made he got out of by just being a better player, something which would get punished in this league I feel. However from the eye test and no stats to hand, his tackling is spot on.

Overall if we were to sign him, over the course of the season he certainly has the ability to compete with Moreno and if he develops as expected he could be a starting lb for us and without getting ahead of myself, potentially England for the foreseeable future.

Would be a very good piece of business in my opinion.

25 Jul 2016 16:12:54
thanks guys, well he is hoping! 10 mill could be money well spent then.

25 Jul 2016 16:21:17
Sounds like he is more than just value for £10M.

25 Jul 2016 19:28:38
Somebody posted a link a while ago to the Huddersfield Town message boards to hear what they said about the lad while he was on loan - I had a look at the link, and the comments, and they were all glowing. Not a single fan had a bad word to say about him and many of them even suggested he would be a future England international. I took that to mean he has a lot of promise and that we really should just get the bloody deal over the line.

25 Jul 2016 13:16:07
Just wondering if someone who has more of an idea than me about these things knows the plan for our Barcelona game on the 6th and then Mainz on the 7th? Will we use the same large squad for both and get straight on the plane after the Barcelona match and just do lots of changes throughout both? Or send a younger squad to Mainz and then a few seniors will follow them out, probably the ones that'll have come into preseason later?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2016 13:34:38
Last season we sent two different squads to each game when we had 2 in 2 days.

25 Jul 2016 13:35:19
I've got tickets for the Barcelona game so I'm hoping we play our strongest team at Wembley! I would imagine it gives Klopp the opportunity to give the whole squad an opportunity to play 90 minutes of football given the league starts the following week (rather than 2 lots of 45 mins)

25 Jul 2016 14:11:22
I think the stronger team will play vs Barcelona as that is a showpiece where millions of fans worldwide wanna see the best eleven of both teams.

25 Jul 2016 15:14:52
G1dgo, I'm there to so hoping the stronger squad is at Wembley!

25 Jul 2016 16:43:08
I hope for you guys they play a good side vs Barca.
I just couldn't take the risk of getting tickets for a friendly game where I might see no decent player. Fingers crossed for you lads.

25 Jul 2016 13:11:03
Hi Eds, Just looking for clarification on something if you have a moment. The talk has been that Wijnaldum was instead of Zielinski. I'm not sure if that's an assumption or confirmed, do you happen to know if that was the case or are the two unrelated?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - yes it was instead.}

25 Jul 2016 13:32:04
Cheers Ed1.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

25 Jul 2016 14:36:31
we paid nearly double for GW than we would have paid for him, let's hope lessons have been learned regarding tapping up, putting club shirts on{ before signing} and running your mouth off thus upsetting the selling club, what I can't understand is why we did not smooth things over with the Italians when we sold Sinclair to Watford, we will probably pay £30m for him in a couple of years time.

25 Jul 2016 16:23:01
I am now a bit confused, is that instead of as in we would take him before Zielinski regardless of what we were asked to pay for either? Because if not then it doesn't make sense to pay so much when we were being asked for less than that for the original target?

25 Jul 2016 12:25:27
Spotted Mario in Southport on Saturday, taking pictures outside the office pub. Can we take it that he's not been included on the USA tour, and that he is definitely on his way out?

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - He will be leaving.}

25 Jul 2016 12:07:07
Eds,

I want to put a post in the teams page but can only find this form for banter and rumours.

Do i just use this for teams and you filter it?

Sorry to waste your time on this one. Promise I won't send any ludicrous posts in future.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Use the banter form and I will post it to the teams page J.}

25 Jul 2016 12:15:18
Thanks Eds002.

25 Jul 2016 10:21:33
Hi macca, any more news on the sale of the club or player transfers, cheers.

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed033's Note - When macca has any new info, hopefully macca will post it.

25 Jul 2016 07:34:46
Morning Eds
If we make one last attempt to get Chilwell and it proves unsuccessful do you see that being our lot for this window as Klopp probably see's RK as cover for Moreno .
Cheers keep up the great work.

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed001's Note - no, I still expect a left back to come in.}

25 Jul 2016 07:41:55
Jayus Ed do you ever sleep thanks for the quick response any idea on an alternative to Chilwell or could someone out of the blue that we haven't been linked with come in to surprise us all .

{Ed001's Note - difficult to say, until after we start making moves for people. And I do sleep, I just get up early to cover the sites when the other editors sleep.}

25 Jul 2016 09:49:14
Hi Ed, do you also worry the later we leave it and don't deal the more likely we could do a' panic buy!, its not like we haven't got history is it?

{Ed001's Note - that is always a worry, yes.}

25 Jul 2016 10:10:43
Lets hope they can nail the Chilwell one quickly then eh?

25 Jul 2016 13:02:49
How long you usually sleep for a day Ed? I'm not from UK, and every time I posted a reply or a post, regardless the time, after minutes it will get posted or some even get some replies.

Thanks though for all the Eds' time and efforts.

{Ed001's Note - I tend to sleep 4 or 5 hours a night then nap during the day when I get a chance. Every few days I will end up sleeping for 12 hours or so when it catches up to me. I am normally a long sleeper, but there is no one to edit the sites in the early hours UK, so I do it.}

25 Jul 2016 13:21:04
You must have really love of what you are doing ya Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I do. I really love it. If I wasn't running it, I would be posting like you lot.}

25 Jul 2016 06:54:35
With the new rules on "dissent" toward referees and the persons attempt to argue back within the "refs own space". This will undoubtably cause mixed opinions come the start of the season, especially if the footballer has a genuine reason to show a bit of passion against a somewhat unfair or silly decision. I think we will see players getting yellows and then a red quite early on in games which could flatten the prospect of a competitive outcome.

I do however think it will combat the stupid acts of petulance from the players whom think they have been put on this Earth for another reason than football.

I would like to hear others opinion on this.

I am a big London Irish fan as well as a fan of the liverbirds, and I am ABSOLUTELY convinced the 10 yard against method and or a Sin Bin method should be trialled, just to see if this works better for this act against the officials!

I don't think the attempt at bringing the 10 yard rule in a few seasons ago was really given a fair chance.

Believable11 Unbelievable0

25 Jul 2016 07:20:51
Great new rule imo. The refs have it rough - abused by players and the crowd and expected to get every spur-of-the-moment decision 100% correct. i'd be happy if it was left solely to the captains to discuss decisions with the ref as in rugby. The sight of teams like Man U and Madrid crowding and abusing referees isat the very least manipulation, and bordering on threatening behavior.

25 Jul 2016 07:27:42
I'm hugely in favour of the new rules. Hopefully we will finally see an end to Hendo, the club captain telling the red to F*** Off after every single foul he gets blown for. Great player but that sort of behaviour shouldn't be coming out of the main role model of a club.

25 Jul 2016 07:42:58
I think it's a great call. I hate it when you see Barcelona or real and other clubs with 5 players in the refs face and no matter if you disagree with a ref decision you don't need to f and Jeff about it!

25 Jul 2016 08:11:16
Just show some respect to the man in charge. Rugby players manage it with more players on the pitch and a lot more testosterone flying about.
It's worse than watching a commons debate seeing players surround the ref with tantrums my 1 year old would be proud of.

25 Jul 2016 08:49:56
Refs won't enforce it IMO.
Dissent has always been a straight red but is rarely enforced.

25 Jul 2016 10:06:57
It's coming in 15 years to late, man u wouldn't have won half there leagues if this rule had been implemented then!

25 Jul 2016 10:09:57
Great rule and more likely to be used now, however I've always hated the two yellows = red and destroys the game

I think Soccer should introduce a sin-bin rule. a yellow = 10 minutes off the pitch, and red cards should be an exception.

25 Jul 2016 10:22:57
Sin bin for dissent and simulation - would improve the game IMO.
First offense by team = 10 mins, second offense = 20 mins, third offense = straight red.

25 Jul 2016 10:32:08
It would disrupt the game for the first couple of months, but after a few sending offs, managers won't allow players to keep doing it and only then will you see it stop.

25 Jul 2016 11:44:06
Anything that causes issue for the red side of Manchester I am in complete favour of. With all the egotistical, "I know better than ref's", players and management they now have on the books I'm sure it won't be a favourite over there! 😉.

25 Jul 2016 12:08:53
Something needs to be done. Rugby has put footy to shame in this respect.

I think refs are going to have to be careful with setting consistent boundaries though, what if a player calmly walks up to the ref/ linesman and challenge a decision in a non-aggressive manner. E. g. "oh come on ref, he just fell over. " etc.

Is there room for dialogue at all.

25 Jul 2016 12:12:40
How will Chelsea cope?

25 Jul 2016 15:19:51
Maxx, I don`t know how other teams apart from Chelsea would cope as they are not the only ones who do it. In the NFL or NBA or Ice hockey (more violent sports than football) and you never see the players doing it. Hence, I`m happy about the news as it disgusts me when players circle the ref and hurl abuse at him. Even when they tell the ref or linesman t F off, to me that is disgraceful language. In the old days, you couldn`t even come anywhere near the ref and if you even abused him you got a yellow. If you touched him, it was a straight red. I wish those days came back as you never saw the high amounts of indiscipline as I now see on the pitch. The managers are also enablers in this and they need to be sanctioned as well.

25 Jul 2016 15:44:59
Refs just need some backbone, they don't need new rules.
If they encircle the ref, send 3 of them off.

25 Jul 2016 05:21:39

It was great fun having the Welsh Pirlo/ Xavi around.

Good luck to him. Very nice guy and had some very good games for us.

25 Jul 2016 01:12:34
Hi Eds just wanted to know how does the icc work as we have 3 fixtures and 10 teams in America how will a winner be decided?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Even though Celtic will probably win it I've not got a clue how they'll do it! It's far too complicated with no clear explanation of how to progress etc.}

25 Jul 2016 05:29:42
In ICC, there are no losers. Everybody is a winner of some sort. Its called not called international champions cup for nothing.

25 Jul 2016 07:23:59
So we get a participation award and a medal for trying, Lee?

25 Jul 2016 12:10:11
It must be organised by the same teachers who organised my kids sports day. everyone wins because the taking part is what counts!
