Last season I pointed out that we were off the pace, was convinced by opinion on here that we started to celebrate to early with breaks away and other stuff. I'm a firm believer in consistency. When we was looking to change out Diaz I thought it was a mistake. I said so on here in june. I thought he took the fight to the opposition, created havoc and never stopped. Same with Harvey Elliot and Freddie! Then the loss of DJ20. All of this has conspired against us, we bought a player in Wittz that wanted us. My concern then was where do you play everyone?

It was said the boss will sort it out. I went to Wembley and watched us struggle after a good start against Palace.

Frankly we are all over the place. It's hard to win this league it's harder to defend it.
I don't think our current manger has the ability to change the current pathway. There some good points on here from thoughtful supporters and brilliant comments from the Edds so this is far from a kneegirk reaction, when almost all the comments on here are questioning why this why that! We can't all be wrong. But until this week we play follow our leader? It's harsh, the only LFC Manger I called to go was Roy Hodgeson. I hope I eat these words. Slott must go!

How were we off the pace when we literally out paced everyone and won the title at a stroll?

Also, why are you baffled about Diaz when every man and his dog knew he wanted out to Barcelona for one or 2 years prior? Were you not aware of this saga at all?

Thirdly, you say you are a person of consistency. Do you know how consistent you have to be to lose one out of 30 games which also includes a 26 game unbeaten run, best in the league last season.

Mate, I can keep going but it seems your comment has quite a no. of holes in it.

Oil Red.

I know what I see. I've been a supporter since the 1971 cup final. When I talk about consistency it's not about numbers or what we got away with. After we won the total last year how many great games have we played? Not many.
Re Diaz yes we all heard he wanted to go " for better money" did we try to keep him? No! Or not hard enough, I don't know and nor do you. You can speculate all you want. But the simple fact is in games last season we had a great bench to help change the fortune. If Cody wasn't going it Diaz would! If they needed more firepower we brought on Jota (god rest) Nunez although miles off it at times alway caused disruption. If we need to sure up at the back Endo came on and gave some bite.
Don't tell me how many games we won. Tell me how well we have played since we secured number 20! Yes I could go on to
Oil red. I know what I'm watching and it's awful and this manager had a problem. His downright stubbornness at times is bewildering.

Consistency in performance is my comment not results. The only constant at the moment is poor very poor.

{Ed001's Note - Diaz didn't leave for more money, he left because he had been agitating for a move for years and causing disruption. He was a problem off the pitch and it was time he left. The club were damn good to him and his family and they threw it back in all our faces - F*** him, he deserves nothing but contempt.}

First off, I couldn't arsed how many games you have watched nor for how long you have been supporting LFC. You may think thesethings are some kind of flex with your mates BUT you're barking up the wrong tree cos none of that means you are right. Nor does it mean your opinion holds more weight than mine. Get over yourself, honestly.

Now onto your points. Im not arsed how well we played in those 30 games cos winning the PL is hard as heck. Even City didn't play well in all the seasons they won, nor did we when we were winning titles in the days of yore. There are games you will play well in and win while in others, you're going to have to scrap and outfight your opponents. Also, the most consistent team in performances and points won, wins the title. Not just consistency in performances. Seriously, is this process foreign to you? Cos for someone who has been watching LFC since kingdom come, you should know this.

As for Darwin, his time had expired and he wanted out as much as the club did and we replaced him and Jota (RIP) with Isak and Hugo. Not arsed about the past your revisionist view and hindsight genius rhetoric does nothing for your argument, IMO.

At the end of the day, We won the title for being the best performing team with the most points, best attack, most clean sheets, longest unbeaten streak and second best defence. We strolled the league so well, we rendered the last 4 games as a Victory Tour which I enjoyed every minute of.

As for Diaz, Ed01 responded to you way better and with more information than I ever would.

We have been playing some rubbish football for quite a while, last season also…. We beat teams fair enough but lots of games last season weren’t pretty and with city missing rodrhi most of season and the absolute collapse of kdb not surprising that they fell away early, arsenal yearly collapse showed its head again. and yeah we got lucky. Not seen a full 90mins this season either that have made it enjoyable. We are where we are, and very lucky to be there. Playing some woeful football and slot is seriously not helping by being so stubborn. He’s out of his depth unfortunately I feel.

Been needing a dm for nearly 3 years now. We need to go to a 442 of some variety or maybe even a 352 in certain games. First things to sort are the tempo and pressing…. way to slow, boring to watch and zero press until Chiesa comes on. Honestly feel he’s lost the dressing room and we are going to have a really bad season if he doesn’t address the problems very very quickly. Gakpo was never going to replace Diaz. And stop putting our best midfielder into a rb role. Personally think he deserves the sack but willing to give him the next 4 and see.

I didn't know he was a disruption off the field too Ed. But the comments made by his father about how Diaz's dream was to play for Barcelona after we supported the family during his kidnapping was insulting at the very least.

Tbh, his departure was very similar to Mane's for me where he was the one angling for a move away but people still see him in a good and positive light. Whereas Salah, like Gakpo, showed loyalty and stayed but yet are the ones getting bashed by fans instead. Another similarity too, both Mane and Diaz moved to Bayern which doesn't mean much but I just found interesting.

ED001.why did he want to move if it wasnt money.

{Ed001's Note - he had been chasing Barca for years. What he wanted was to go to Spain and live where he could speak his own language. It was Bayern's money that changed his mind though, so greed did come in to play in the end.}

Thanks for the reply Ed001.I was a bit bemused he went to Bayern after all the shenanigans with his Dad going on about Barcelona . good riddance by the looks of it.

{Ed001's Note - I think so, much as I love him as a player.}
