I agree with some of that other than the despair and paranoia bit.
This is football. Especially football in the premier league. If you are not prepared for the physicality of the league you’ll get beat. If you allow the opposition to outrun and outfight you, you’ll get beat.
I think we’ll be fine but we have to see this through. We’ve started on a road I don’t think we can turn back from now. It will mean that there’s more pain to come in the premier league but we could end the season with the champions league trophy because this way of playing is much more suited to European football than Premier League football.
We have the players to be great we just need to find solutions to allow them to play. We will get there but this isn’t anything that going to happen overnight.

I mean despair and paranoia have been our lot being Liverpool fans throughout the prem era Robbo, at least it is for me haha, we've seen so many false dawns and even been through the nadir of seeing the likes of Konchesky and Poulsen suit up for us.
I also agree that patience is required, even if Slot isn't the one to take us forward. All this stuff on here about we should be at the top of the table with what we've spent, we won the league last year and anything less is not acceptable isn't helping anybody. At the very least, whatever happens, we already have the squad to be among the very best. Maybe the balance isn't perfect and we are missing one or two players, but whatever coach assumes the helm, whether it's Slot having turned a corner and found a fix or whoever else, we have an extremely strong foundation in place.

Good piece, Patrick, cheers mate. However, I neither feel despair or paranoia. When I came away from the Spurs game, last season, the feeling of elation was unprecedented. I, like millions of others, had waited far too long for that moment. On the coach, on the way back, I remember speaking to those around me and us all saying we should savour this moment and not take it for granted.
I don't think any of us thought we'd fall off a cliff so quickly, but things rarely stay the same. We are, however, still blessed with some world class talent and I'm confident we will go again. Like Robbo says, there will no doubt be more bumps along the way, but it will all be worth it when we get there again. There are loads of supporters who never get there.

Interesting read. But Slot is no nostradamus in terms of predicting that the league would shift to Pulis ball.
Even so. That bully style of play won't last just needs a team to be brave whilst also being robust. Our issue is that too few of our players are robust.

Rome, deep down I agree with you mate. The first time we were looking like winning the league under Jurgen (the covid year), I told my girlfriend multiple times a day that if we just won one, I would be content forever and we could get relegated, at least I would have seen our team lift the trophy once in my lifetime. Last year I started up again and my girlfriend just rolled her eyes at me every time before saying 'I thought you said you were content with the first one! '
Every time I whine about our team to her she will invariably have something to say about how irritating and entitled my complaints are (she doesn't watch any competitive sport whatsoever besides games I compete in haha) . I too am with you in the faith that we have everything in place to become a majestic football team, and anyway, what do we have to lose, we've been through so much as a fanbase and known highs that many would kill to have experienced.

I wish I could, she gives me a smirk every time she sees me on the site rather than doing my work （my job is a work from home type thing), it is beyond mystifying to her how I could spend so much time with you lot ruminating endlessly about the minutiae of every football game.
