Few things.
Jones was our best player last night. Completely disagree with talks on his passing. The team is set up to penetrate through the middle and avoids width.
The abuse that kerkez and especially bradley gets is disgraceful. Kerkez is a bag of nerves but isn't being helped in this set up or slot. Slot should have eased him in with robbo playing more.
Bradley has not done very much wrong and gets dogs abuse. The nonsense I read about runs etc. The team never plays him in on the right, salah refuses to ever pass to him and the one time he was played down the side last night he assisted for the goal. Bradley's an east target for fans and slot.
Konate and the keeper. That second goal. Every game hardens the fact konate should have been sold in the summer or a CB prioritised to replace him. The goalkeeper was a terrible buy. Both are actually nothing to do with slot. The goalkeeper was a terrible terrible buy, knowing that allison gets injured. The lack of quality he offers on any front is shocking.
We need the team defensively tighter and a different approach. If slot sticks to this, we'll get humiliated in another 4,5 games. Especially the Madrid game.
How desperate is it lads to watch this consistently. 60 minutes of shambles and then he throws on the bench and it looks even worse.
{Ed001's Note - Jones was not good, I can't see how he was our best player when he kept hanging on to the ball and every pass was a slow rolled ball. He was a big part of the problem.}

Agreed Ed. He holds onto it for too long and his instinct is to pass backwards.
{Ed001's Note - I disagree on his instinct to pass backwards, most of his passes were sideways, but it is the slow speed that he rolls them.}

Jones said at a press conference last pre season with slot beside him, slots way was less "rushed" and more controlled. What we're watching on the pitch as a whole is slots way. As for Jones passing, I watched the entire game and Jones passed the ball well for what we are. I rarely seen him play "slow rolled ball" High up the pitch.
It was when the midfielders passed the ball a lot quicker in the middle to each other they lost the ball and Brentford broke. Our midfielders looked clever on the ball last night but were very ineffective with it. The spaces were too tight.

Ed01, I am having difficulty singling out one good performance, last night. Now I will say that the worst perf. came from the dugout where I am now sure that Slot is obssesed with this "Szobo at RB" thingy and will find every way possible to put him there, come hell or high water.
I mean, the guy changes Bradley with Szobo to go to RB. Then, he changes Gomez for Wirtz (when we need a goal, btw) only to move Szobo back to midfield. Then, he puts Rio on in a game that he qill clearly drown in cos the whole team was drowning in it. Even saw Chiesa playing deep at the DM spot to collect the ball. Seriously, what tha heel is this, right here?
If Amorim, Moyes or Pep was doing this, we would be laughing our heads off at a manager who is out of his depth. For me if we don't switch up fast, I dread the worst vs Villa, RM and the Etihad, if we're not well and truly cooked for good already.
{Ed001's Note - it does feel like he is out of his depth right now. You only really find out how good a manager is when he goes through tough times.}

I disagree Jones best payers. For me standout is Szoboslai, GK M, then Jones.

I thought jones had a great game. He was everywhere, People moan over him holding onto the ball to long but he was releasing it quickly trying to get 1-2s going. Don’t know about the slow rolling passes? Think that is part of our play now every pass seems slow even the keepers long balls are slow. There’s no movement.

Agree that the fullbacks are being hung out to dry by poor play from both Gakpo and Salah, or by Slot’s instructions to invert.
The keeper is not suitable for the way we seem to want to play. On the flip side, Kelleher was not good enough to depose Alisson either, it will be huge gloves to fill when he is gone.

There’s way too many negatives in that game, too many to mention.
Positives are Szobo playing well when everyone else is going to sh#t
Salah scored, that’s it. Nothing else you can take from the game.

Our midfield was non existent, not for the first time this season either, porous, weak, offered nothing going forward or in possession. We might as well just give our opponents a 3 - 0 head start the way we’re playing, we’re a soft touch in midfield and that has a negative affect across the park, this run of defeats will likely continue until that’s resolved.

I also thought Jones played well. people say he held onto the ball a bit but what options does he have . no one is showing for it esp up front. he kept us ticking over for a while with decent passes . slob was the best player though. worked his socks off . also on the fullbacks. Bradley gets no help whatsoever from Salah n has bambi on ice Konate next to him .
kerkez is played wrong, told to invert (i hate that word ) but when he does go outside . Gakpo doesn't pass to him . cuts inside to either cross or shoot . then the ball is lost n kerkez is exposed n out of position . to sum it up. a shambles.

I agree VV, no real physical strength in midfield.
