Hello ed1 hope u well. Away from lfc and a more general point on the premier league itself.
Can u believe how the league has turned into a league dominated by set pieces? I find it quite poor to watch, it seems to be all about getting free kicks, diving to get the free kick in 1st place, throw ins, wasting time taking them etc.

Now granted there is more than 1 way to play football but the amount of teams that play that way now is bit depressing. It's no different to what Wimbledon where doing 35 years ago.

{Ed001's Note - it is very sad to be honest. There should be more variety of styles.}

Digger, I was thinking of the same thing thisafternoon when thinking of our own woes. It's as if teams now work on set pieces as an integral part of their offensive scheme and this is only magnified by how poorly teams are defending them.

Now, wheter it is depressing to watch, I have no idea BUT there seems to be a complete lack or inability to conjure up innovative offensive schemes.

man cheaty will be delighted the Slot Machine isn't paying out presently?

Because the matty "CASH" machine just paid out for Villa tonight, hopefully the Slot machine pays out after the Villa game next Saturday night 8 o'clock kick off again TNT sports.

The problem man cheaty have is when haaland doesn't score they have no one to replace his goals in the squad? we have TWO haalands in Hugo and Isak both brand new and underused, and both better than haaland with the right SERVICE?

LFC will "LICK" aston "VANILLA" next week!

I seen that arsenal, who lead league by 4 pts already and look v v strong favs to win league this season, our 17th in league table for goals from open play. I couldn't believe it but then when I tried to think of last goal I can remember them scoring in open play I couldn't remember.

Premier League football has been an extremely poor watch this season. The ball is out of play most of the time. It's starting to look like NFL as a spectacle with all these set plays.

It does seem our football operations missed the memo this summer a we went ahead and bought short fullbacks and a diminutive no10.

the Prem has always been the home of thug-ball and kick n rush, to a certain extent.

Maybe we should check if Big Sam is available ???,
Slag off Arsenal but they are top, we are in free fall.

It's how the game is evolving, or de-volving rather lol

Loved what Michael Owen said in interview with Rio when he made the point it's easier to destroy something than to create something.

In football terms, team are catching on to setting up to counter-attack teams or pinch goals at set piece.

Goalkeepers were arguably overprotected a few seasons ago, and slight infractions were blown up for. This changed markedly last season, and it has basically encouraged this set piece/ hoof ball approach because goalkeepers can now be impeded, blocked off, physically bullied, etc without the previous refereeing protection they had.

It’s been dreadful for the game as entertainment, and add in VAR? I’m honestly bored watching, I basically never watch a game anymore unless it’s our own, and even then I’m not prepared to stay awake all hours like I once was, it feels bereft of enjoyment.

17th in open play goals scored for Arsenal? Wow. Well if they going to win the title doing that then, we do need to give Big Sam a call, lol.

Agree completely with faith in works. it is American Football, the next thing will be adverts and time outs in these constant stoppages .
I am sure Sunderland, arsenal etc don't care but this football is atrocious.

how long before the Premier league loses its crown?
Just a question, are you allowed to take up to 2 mins to set up a long throw? Generally I thought u had to get on with the game.
