Ed2, may I follow up on something you wrote about Andre Trindade. Not trying to be awkward, just trying to better understand something. You mentioned that Fulham have worked on deal to overcome the issue of Fluminense only owning 80% of his rights and agreed a fee with Fluminense in January, but it will only happen should Palhinho leave in the summer and the player agrees. Is it quite common for deals to be worked on as contingency plans for clubs which are specifically longer term contingencies? Obviously this must throw up all sorts of issues with regard to agreed deals not then being delivered and unsettling players. Any info is appreciated.

Agree1 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - Fulham were expecting Paulinho to leave and would have teken him regardless. The player rejected the move at that time. Clubs work on potential transfers year around.}

This may not be popular or even viable but if Liverpool believe Bajcetic is the long term DM/ 6 solution, replacing Endo with Palhinha would be a step up in quality and not unduly impede development.

Price might be a problem but perhaps this summer competition for his signing is less and Fulham are open to doing a deal.

One for Ed002 - does Jeremie Frimpiong have a (£ or €) 35m release clause that comes into effect in the next transfer window?

Do we hold any interest?

And would he be classed as HG to an EPL club given his youth career was at Man City from the age of 10-19?

Thanks.

Agree2 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Jeremie Frimpong (RB/RWB/RM/LB) Being versatile has made him attractive to Chelsea and Arsenal who will likely now have him as first choice after losing out on another. Chelsea opted for Malo Gusto but know they may need a replacement for Reece James. 10 years at Manchester City might be against a move to Manchester United, but they have looked. Agent is offering him around major European sides including back to Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona with Bayern Munich having a serious interested in updating their RB position in the summer. He is HG in England but Liverpool has no interest in him - although if Alexander Arnold opts to leave he may be someone they look to.}

15 May 2024 11:01:21
Thank you very much Ed002, very informative.

Yes, my thinking on him was if TAA were to move to RM (in a PX deal perhaps as you suggested), we may look to Frimpong to ensure we had an established (but still young) RB to rotate with Bradley.

With a lot of folks suggesting TAA moving, Jones moving and potentially with Kelleher moving, having HG options would help a lot.

Do you have (or are you willing) to share any information about his release clause?

Just to let you guys know Alison rumoured to be of interest to an Arab team just sold his house this is why i think he does not want to be here but you guys will not let anyone have an opinion but thanks for your comments I take them on board.

He's far too good for the Arab league.

He's sold his house because he's just had a brand new one built round the corner.

Just wondering what happened to the interest in Andre? Any chance Liverpool will go back in for him?

Seems like he would have been a good fit, but not sure how he has been playing recently.

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - Andre Trindade (DM) Recommended to Liverpool as Fabinho cover three years ago but their interest has only came to the fore last summer, but they dropped the ball on this one now and stepped back. Prior interest of Arsenal, Atletico, Barcelona and Braga has gone. I would not totally rule out Napoli but they may be some way off meeting the transfer fee or indeed Manchester United who will need a Casemiro replacement. Manchester City will need a Phillips replacement and may also make an offer. Fulham are keen to take him if Bayern Munich return and they lose Palinha - Fulham have worked on deal to overcome the issue of Fluminense only owning 80% of his rights and agreed a fee with Fluminense in January, but it will only happen should Palhinho leave in the summer and the player agrees.}

14 May 2024 15:33:19
We need to sign a natural DM as a priority this summer.

Would Manuel Ugarte be an option for Liverpool this summer?

By all accounts we got things very wrong with Sporting and screwed-up any chance of getting him before his move to PSG. I've read PSG have ruled out a loan move but Juventus and Milan have been sniffing around.

Do you think he would be a good addition, irrespective of whether it is possible?

TIA.

Agree0 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - No he is not an option for Liverpool.}

Hi Eds,
Any information regarding Trent future at the club? Do they plan to play him in Midfield and bring a new Rb to compete with Bradly.

And what's the situation with his contract? Any chance he will leave this summer so we won't lose him for free next summer?

Also VVD contract, if there is any info regarding that.

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - Trent Alexander-Arnold (RB/RWB/RM) Seen by Real Madrid as an option to Reece James. If Liverpool are going to try and sign Rodrygo Goes, they may be able to offer Alexander-Arnold plus perhaps €60M for him. Alternatively, Madrid may try persuade the player's agent to have their client run down his contract.

Virgil van Dijk (CB) I am told that van Dijk's agents have said that had approaches from both Real Madrid and Barcelona. Real Madrid see VvD as a low cost solution in terms of transfer fee but need to make space in the wage structure. Barcelona offer an option but will need to agree sales first. Bayern Munich also made a general enquiry, but no more than that. At this point in time it will be very general enquiries only and I doubt any of these clubs will move for him. Suggestion that Al Qadsiah, who are a fairly minor side in Saudi Arabia and play in the equivalent of the Championship, are interested in him may be true, but I really can't see any chance of a move there. I am not aware of the reported interest of Borussia Dortmund being true. I would think that Liverpool might look to perhaps a two year extension - else they could be forced to listen to offers rather than have his contract run down.}

14 May 2024 15:25:54
You know what is the plan for him if he stays next season? RB or CM?
If CM any RB that on our radar?

Agree0 Disagree5

{Ed002's Note - I am not going to know how the new coach will utile the players.}

Trent + 60 million for Rodrygo love your end of season humor.

14 May 2024 19:45:58
€60m and Trent for rodrygo! Absolutely not!

Agree4 Disagree0

14 May 2024 20:33:11
I’d probably go for £60m plus Trent for Rodrygo, as it is a pretty decent deal Ace. One year left on Trent’s contract, he’s not exactly covering himself in glory with his defending, he isn’t a centre midfielder, so it seems now is the right time to move on and as we need a winger, which Rodrygo is a very talented one at a very good age, then if there was a possibility of that then it seems a reasonable one. The other options are sticking him on £350k+ a week for more iffy defending or trying to unsuccessfully shoehorn him into midfield, or even worse, him leaving on a free transfer to Madrid, none of those are particularly palatable. We need to be less sentimental. Connor Bradley is more than capable as a right back and we’ve looked far more solid defensively when he’s played (which is backed up by the fact he’s more willing to do the dirty work) .

Pure idiotic price Victor, thank God people with actual common sense are looking after transfers.

Agree4 Disagree0

15 May 2024 01:07:09
I don't disagree w VV on this one. Got a very capable and arguably more capable right back in Bradley on much lower wages.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 May 2024 01:27:45
If TAA doesn’t sign a new contract surely he’ll be sold so his contract doesn’t run down? The most expensive FB was £60m, if TAA had 3 years left i could see £100m bid but with 1 year left £60m seems pretty reasonable.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 May 2024 07:18:37
TAA is a terrible defender. On the other hand, he's world class in his passing and dead ball skills, but he's not experienced in an attacking mid position and not good enough (in my opinion) for a holding mod position.

I find it really tough to see where he fits in our team. I personally prefer Bradley at RB and other players in midfield.

I'd sell/ swap if Madrid were interested. I find it kinda crazy that Madrid would be looking at James over TAA with 1 year left on the contract. I mean James is an excellent player and better defender but the guy is made of crisps.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2024 09:05:16
He is going to sign a new contract though, who can seriously see him not doing so?

Agree2 Disagree0

15 May 2024 08:40:48
I mean, he could always run his contract down, then leave on a free transfer to Madrid as that would be perfectly fine wouldn’t it, Jude? Personally I think given that he’s in his last year and he’s not exactly been great the last couple of years (and in being very diplomatic there), moving him on and improving the squad in the process is a good move for all concerned. I personally don’t think handing him a contract at the same salary level as Salah is good economics either, he simply hasn’t earned that (he literally shirked challenges in the last game against Everton), whereas Salah deserved it because he delivers every season TAA hasn’t. Given that Bradley has stepped up and looks very capable at this level, the sensible decision means ignoring sentiment and taking a pragmatic approach. If, as has been suggested by Ed002, there is a possibility of an agreement where we pay £60m to Madrid and TAA in exchange for Rodrygo, that would be a good deal, as Rodrygo is one of the best young talents in Europe and at 23 he’s at a good age whilst he has also been bagging double figures in goals the last couple of years at a very good level, whereas we are not in a good negotiating position due to TAA’s contract ending in June 2025.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 May 2024 11:08:39
We'll agree to disagree Victor, maybe when Trent signs his contract Madrid may be interested in a straight swap deal.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 May 2024 10:49:07
Trent is not world class in any sense of the statement. He has no defensive skills and is average with dead ball situations.
His passing is his good attribute and his level is decent at most.

St least all of us scousers like TAA, so couldn't care less what you bunch of wools think.

{Ed001's Note - I don't understand why anyone would want to lose Trent from the team. He is not just a great talent, but a great person who does so much for others. He would be the last person I would sell from this squad.}

14 May 2024 11:17:13
Seeing some reports that Khéphren Thuram could be available for around €15-20 million. Are Liverpool still interested or have they moved on from him completely?

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Khephren Thuram (CM/DM) Nice felt they were messed around by clubs last summer and then the player picked up an injury. Interest of Spurs and, in particular, Juventus remains but Liverpool will look to other options. Interest of Newcastle will likely of fallen away. Milan may offer an option. Has not had a great season so clubs will be way of taking him on as he enters the last year of his contract. Nice could look to a new contract given the emergence of Alexis Beka Beka has hit a huge problem and they will now be regretting the sale of impressive youngster Reda Belahyane to Verona. Nice do not want to sell and again a move to Old Trafford will not be welcomed by the Nice supporters. Real Madrid have him on a list of potential additions given they are facing midfield departures in the summer - and I would not rule them, or indeed Manchester City or Barcelona, out. Player wants PSG but they continue to have no interest - but his representative is pushing PSG as well as Real Madrid and will encourage the player to wait out his contract and see what happens.}

15 May 2024 08:42:10
Old man Ratcliffe still signs off on the Nice transfers, I’d say that unless Thuram winds his contract down, he won’t be an option As Ratcliffe isn’t going to do business with us.

Like I don’t want to spoil the party or anything, but surely wait a player looks like is not relevant and edging to troll territory. I personally think he’s a good player and would improve our squad, but not for £100m. That’s mental. He is a player I like to watch though, but like Cole Palmer. Either of which may not even be considered in the England squad this summer which is crazy.
