I don’t think he would fit into the ‘right player at the right price’ category. As was discussed on here yesterday we would be better served spending on one or two potential starters in the midfield, rather than use the money on squad members who wouldn’t be regular starters. If we did it would potentially be a lose / lose situation - no new starters and the money needed to get the new starters not there because we padded out the squad.

Good afternoon! Just wondering what the Eds opinions are on kalvin Phillips from Leeds? Seems to me to be someone who could fit in to our current system very well. I know he has had a few injuries recently but from what I recall Leeds stats when he doesn't play seem to go through the floor. I think he could fill in for Fabinho in the holding role but also play alongside him to utilise a more forward thinking midfielder such as Thiago, carvalho or Elliott. I think Leeds will struggle to hold on to him any longer even after avoiding the drop. Me personally I would be delighted with the capture of him maybe Nunez to replace mane and the young lad Ramsey from Aberdeen. I have a feeling carvalho is going to be an absolute fire cracker! Hopefully the icing on the cake would be to move on players such as minamino, ox, Williams, Davies, Phillips and even possibly Keita to free up wages for salahs new contract. Not a break the bank new contract but hopefully a compromise can be reached. That would be my dream summer. Just to note I love nothing better than a daily dose of this site in the off season. Keep up the great work Eds!

I am a person that thinks anyone who puts the Red shirt on is not good enough until they prove it through their performances. with Phillips being English we will pay an inflated fee and the difference in playing 1game a week for Leeds to sometimes 3games in 8/ 9days for Liverpool is different. the pressure and the expectation is different. but from what I have seen thus far from KP he is not good enough to play at the level required.

To say he ain’t good enough for Liverpool is laughable! We currently have Henderson Milner and Keita in those positions! He plays over them every day of the week for me! I’m not saying they don’t have anything to offer, Henderson and Milner character wise add serious value but in pure footballing terms Phillips is an upgrade on 4 or 5 of the current central midfielders we have. How can englands player of the year not be good enough for Liverpool.

Maybe jota but he can’t stay fit. They simply get goals based on volume of chances made per game. IMO our forwards and midfield players are much better players than those at Arsenal's. I'd stand by that even if we don't win the league this season.
Btw, after years of supporting Liverpool, when was the year that the club cruises easily to won any of the trophies? I couldn't remember a single one. I still have faith. Maybe one or two more trophies will come this season.

I watched palace arsenal tonight to get a proper look at Doucoure. Never really noticed him before but with all the talk of him being a possible target thought I’d take a look. Some one posted below somewhere that he doesn’t seem to provide an angle for a simple pass and does look very slow. That was also my conclusion. definitely not the most mobile anyway. I know you can’t run the rule over someone in 90 minutes but he hardly filled me with any real confidence! ! But then I suppose on that logic after watching Caceido for half an hour for Chelsea you would come to the conclusion that he was an absolute clown. Hard to judge really but he is not someone who would excite me this close to the window closing. Rather play bajetic.

Topofthekops I was happy we was going for him because of all the hype same as Caicedo but after watching him last night my worries about Endo would be the same for him. With the way we play our number 6 can be left a little isolated and I think pace is a must more now than ever with VVD not being as commanding as he was. I’ve only really taken notice of Caicedo twice Sunday can’t really judge and the end of last season vs Newcastle where I thought he looked very average. If these are the best number 6 out there the Endo signing is making more sense now. My only concern is we don’t have a true backup to Endo I think Bajcetic might become one in time but at the moment an 8 seems better option for him. I do hope we stay clear of Gravenberch but I did not understand the Gakpo signing and for the price I think that’s been a great piece of business as long as Klopp gets him back upfront instead of midfield.

I am fine with us signing Doucoure as it is not my money and we raery spend frivolously, but I would put this out question there:
What is Palace sell us Doucoure for £70m and replace him with Kone for £40m? How would we feel?
I would also ask, do we need our no6 to be press resistant? If so, which of the two players is more press resistant?
Right now, I am leaning toward Kone in now and Andre in January. I am sure that will change again tomorrow.

I think he’s a good Good player, is exactly the position we are missing, available at a good price, great work rate/ ethic and I don’t think his injury record is what people make it out to be. That being said, rumors of why Chelsea pulled out are that his medical had something pop up, but the timing of the Caicedo and lavia situation were curious with this one. I think this would be another “3rd choice signing” that had a good value.
Fully admit my bias as an American, but I’ve liked watching him play.

I think Liverpool need to be ruthless this year with letting people go otherwise we will be seriously clogged up with new arrivals. Keita Milner oxlaide and firmino practically out the door but I reckon Thiago melo and Morton probably need to follow them out. 2 new midfield editions look likely and playing time for Fabinho Henderson Jones elliott and bajectic rotating is surely enough. We have struggled for quality not numbers really. Still leaves 7 for the 3 midfield spots! Can see kehleher Phillips and matip and Adrian leaving too with a decent centre back coming in and new back up keeper! Really think the squad needs it too! My money on a good 10/ 11 departures with 4/ 5 incoming. Carvalho out on loan as well would be good for him.

I see no reason to get rid of Thiago or Morton, in fact I think we need them. Anybody with juice in the tank or something left to offer should stick around.
The real question is who has got the mental and physical fortitude to go again? I’m not sure Fabinho or van Dijk have either, even Salah potentially as well. Matip and Gomez have looked dusted on both counts for a while now.
I’d be looking to ship out players like that before Thiago or Morton, who I think still have the proverbial Eye of the Tiger, a bit of hunger and gumption. That’s what i’d be trying to assess first and foremost, cull everyone who has lost that spark and see what we have left, bringing in some younger and hungrier lads to take their place.

The problem is, based on the seasons performance, there’s not many players that I would keep!
However, obviously we can’t change the whole squad (even though at times this season, it’s felt like it would be nice to! )
Klopp has alluded in recent interviews a few times that there will be signings but that there won’t be radical changes either.
On that basis, I think he will use this summer to put out the fires in central midfield and centre back and bring in a few new faces there but I don’t think Klopp will be selling senior players like VVD, Henderson or Thiago.

Alisson – keep. Arguably the best in the world
Trent – keep but full conversion to midfield.
Gomez – Try at right back but no future at centre half in my opinion
Van Dijk – Should no longer be a guaranteed starter. Looks to be just a regular premier league centre back now. We need a new centre half to establish a partnership alongside Konate.
Matip – same as van Dijk
Konate – persist with him. Still a little bit raw but I think he can be our rock going forward.
Robertson – keep. Not sure he will get back to his best levels but still better than most premier league left backs.
Fabinho – keep but if he doesn’t get back to his best, start to transition out of the team
Bajcetic – the future. Looking forward to seeing him again next season
Henderson – transition to the type of role Milner has had for the last few years.
Milner – Probably finally time to move but wouldn’t have a massive problem if he stayed on
Thiago – I’m indifferent on this one. Brilliant footballer but we haven’t seen his best on a regular basis. I think we don’t lose much if he leaves.
Jones – persist for another season
Elliott – jury is out a little in my opinion but again, persist I think
Carvalho – don’t feel able to comment. There must be a reason why he doesn’t get any opportunities
Salah – keep of course – the goal and assists just keep coming
Diaz – keep. Full season out of him next year could be massive
Gakpo – keep. Of our many good options up front, he looks like the only one who can do something close to the Firmino role
Nunez – keep. Not a bad first season but I think he is going to explode into life at some point.
Jota – keep. Great fourth or fifth choice option and our only real goal poacher in my opinion.
With all of the above in mind, I think we need to add a top class centre back who comes straight into the starting line up + a midfield dominator + possibly one more midfielder in a more creative/ attacking role.
If we have to sell players in order to raise money to buy new players then I guess it’s the likes of Kelleher, Gomez, Phillips, Tsimikas and Thiago who we’d be willing to let go and who have a bit of value. I think some would be willing to sell Jota for a decent offer but I don’t think Klopp will let him go.

As well as the KO pair and Melo, who should all be absolutes, Thiago and Matip also need to go. Also Rhys Williams and probably Nat Phillips, that’s just for starters.
I would really evaluate VVDs position within the squad. I am not convinced he can recover his pre-Pick-form.
Fabinho also needs to pull up some trees during the off season.
We do have Bradley and Morton returning to the fold and players like Clark coming through but we also have question marks over Kelleher, Gomez and Kostas. Do they want to stick around another season? Should we get a decent fee for them now? It’s a horrible transition period driven by seasons of port decision making. We need to really get this right and we still don’t have a DoF n place. It could be a disaster on the scale of the Italian Job or the Titanic!

I do like enzo Fernandez a lot but the transfer fee would be huge especially if they are hoping to go big on Bellingham in the summer. I just can’t see them going for both! Staying with Argentina tho what are peoples thoughts on macalister from Brighton? Looked great at the World Cup and very good and proven for Brighton too! Reminds me of the old school midfielders who are actually able to contribute with goals and assists! Surely 40 to 50 million gets him. Brighton do have history of getting very good midfield players, some the very types we are crying out for. Caciedo very good also and bissouma before him.

Chelsea getting a player of that quality certainly doesn’t help our chances of qualifying for the CL. Not signing at least one midfielder in the summer just gone when you look at our current options was just stupidly there’s no other words to describe it. According to most FSG's priority is profit, and if this is the case, then signing the best players available will protect and enhance that profit .
Enzo is a top player with a high ceiling and 88m is F all in the grand scheme of things.

Op I really like macalister and think he makes a massive difference at Brighton. The lad literally never stops running and still young. I would definitely have him at Liverpool as a keita replacement.

I expect Bellingham to go to Real Madrid. There has been no indication that we, as a club are close to a deal but RM have been making noises about signing him since last summer.
Let’s be realistic, signing a player of his stature is going to take a lot more than a media-friendly, joint World Cup buddy system.
We may have the money but we do not have the allure Los Blancos has on a global scale. And we have all been led to believe that it isn’t about the money for Jude, then it must be about winning. Something we failed to capitalise on when we were at the top.
I would love to be proved wrong but I cannot see it happening.

Do people ever get tired of worrying about what other clubs are doing? I remember when people here were freaking cos Chelsea sign Saul. Now I don’t remember if Saul ever played a game and if he did he must have been invisible.
Enzo is a great player and there are lots of great teams. We can’t sign them all.

I wonder if they might try Trent in midfield on the right of the 3. Ramsey could be a 2 birds one stone signing! Let’s not forget Trent was a central midfielder pushed to right back.

To say he ain’t good enough for Liverpool is laughable! We currently have Henderson Milner and Keita in those positions! He plays over them every day of the week for me! I’m not saying they don’t have anything to offer, Henderson and Milner character wise add serious value but in pure footballing terms Phillips is an upgrade on 4 or 5 of the current central midfielders we have. How can englands player of the year not be good enough for Liverpool.

I know a few Blackburn rovers fans (season ticket holders) that say he is atrocious and has by no means played all the games he was available for, for them. Covered at centre back a few times as well. He gets battered on the rovers social media pages and is simply not at a good enough level for Liverpool. I know he is young but so is my son and he won’t be playing for Liverpool anytime soon either.

To improve your team you only need a new player to be better than 1 regular starter. Tielemens although not elite is better than Henderson Keita Milner Jones and ox. Therefore he has to be good value at 20 million. That’s the way I look at it.

Will definitely learn a lot more about Utd next week! If they can’t get up for a game against Liverpool they will be in even bigger trouble . (If that’s possible)
