Considering our injury list, how lucky are we that the club didn't sell Kelleher and Gomez during the recent windows. Offers came in for both, and they both have been outstanding when called upon to play.

Agree15 Disagree0

Didn’t some also want to sell Jota to balance the books?

18 Feb 2024 11:30:40
The club didn’t want to sell - that’s not good luck. It’s good planning and knowing the value of all the players in the squad.

It was only a minority of people on social media who have no say in what the club does or thinks that suggested the club should sell valuable squad members.

18 Feb 2024 11:49:09
LOL yep JK23. Funny how the Jota haters have all disappeared.

18 Feb 2024 12:20:06
2 great lads who have never voiced there dissatisfaction at not playing more regular in public, always handled themselves v well.
I hope gomez starts in final next week, don't think he has ever started a final for us. deserves it.

18 Feb 2024 12:51:19
Kelleher is one of the best back up keepers in the league, great performance yesterday.

{Ed025's Note - one swallow doth not a summer make VV, he had a good game yesterday but has been really crap before that mate, hes not a bad back up but to over egg him would be a mistake imo..

18 Feb 2024 13:15:41
We're fans and supporters Ed. It's our job to over egg our players ? But I do have to admit though, that as far as back-up keepers go, it's hard to find one as good as him. The past few games could be him shaking of the rust as he comes to terms with the pace of the game again. He has not played regularly in over a year so that's understandable, I feel.

{Ed025's Note - before yesterday he looked like the new Karius to me Drac, but he did well yesterday mate so lets hope thats not just a flash in the pan..

18 Feb 2024 13:32:35
You’re being too harsh Ed. He’s a better back up than most of the clubs in the top six let alone the rest of the league and he’s a million miles better than Mignolet, Karius and Kelleher. He’s at least competent which is the minimum ask.

{Ed025's Note - im just stating facts VV, if he was considered that good someone would have come in for him by now mate, if you are that good you would be playing first team football on a regular basis even if thats for a lower team..

18 Feb 2024 13:40:39
To be fair Kelleher in general has been pretty good when called upon and not just this season. I’ve no idea how to equate that into Swallows tho but I’m certain it’s more than ??.

18 Feb 2024 14:24:38
In fairness only Pickford is a better back up keeper than Kelleher.

Yes I know Pickford isn’t a back up keeper but he should be ?.

{Ed025's Note - "Englands Englands number 1, Englands number 1"..

18 Feb 2024 14:46:42
I would tend to disagree with u ed25 on kelleher, I think he excellent keeper and I'm flabbergasted that no club has put up the reported £20m that lfc would sell at. I'd go as far as saying that he better or equal to 15/ 16 out of the 20 prem teams 1st choice goalkeeper. Alison, Emerson, spurs goalie, martinez about all I can think of better than him. He obviously would have to prove it over a season but as with any goalkeeper the more he would player the better he would get.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think we have seen enough of him to judge if im honest Digger, we have seen a few good bits as well as some abominations from him this season when called upon, personally what i have seen of him he would be a lower premier or high championship keeper, but thats just me guessing mate..

18 Feb 2024 14:58:06
That shows why England will never win a trophy…. Pickford Maguire and their clueless manager, Southgate. Shockingly bad.

Then add the ludicrously overhyped Rashford and you will have Bellingham wishing he was born in Madrid rather than the Midlands.

18 Feb 2024 14:58:42
Ed25, there are no swallows here, mate. kelleher is undefeated in all the PL games he has playde for LFC in relief of Allison and this, despite him not playing anywhere as regularly as your bro. Pickford who is not in the same stratosphere as Kellerher, IMO.

Kellerher is a very good GK who would start for a decent amount of PL teams out there cos even with the sporadic appearances he has had over the years, he has shown that he would be a very good option were he to play regularly which IMO, is the only thing he is missing to relly up his level as a GK, in my view. Not arsed about his game vs Fulham and I fully backed him cos well, he was out of rhythm coming in cold and since then, he has been very good for us cos well, he was playing moregularly than before. Funny that a GK or player plays better when they get more game time, eh?

And comparing him to Karius is just weak sauce banter cos at least Karius knows what a CL final (while Kellerher has a CL winner's medal) looks like. Let me know when Pickford gets anywhere near that. And hurry up before armagedon strikes cos I ain't got all day.

{Ed025's Note - he has never played in a world cup finals though Oli so your point is moot mate, no doubt he will be seen as "world class" by most of you but what i seen of him against the likes of Fulham he reminds me of Massimo Taibi.. :)

18 Feb 2024 17:24:59
Tommy Gunn your England bashing was going well until you had a pop at Bellingham, no when to quit mate and control your jealousy!

18 Feb 2024 17:43:12
Pickford. If ever a guy needed an R between the P and i letters of his surname.

18 Feb 2024 18:14:05
Massimo Taibi ??.

19 Feb 2024 02:17:08
I always thinks that when they are singing about Pickford it should be “England, England’s number 2, England’s number 2”.

18 Feb 2024 15:24:12
He seems to get better the longer he’s in the team. Just getting put in on the odd off chance creates disturbance.

18 Feb 2024 16:14:08
Ed25; my point is not moot, sprry. Everton and LFC play in the same league to qualify for the CL and play in the CL final cos that is where both playerswere playing at the time Karius helped LFC make the final and your boy still listens to the CL anthem on Spotify so it is your false comparison that is moot. Nobody cares about England and Germany are a shambles so it is your point that is moot. And nobody called Karius nor Kellerher world class either so you made that up on your own out of thin air.

In the end, that is not my point. My point is that Kellerher is undefeated in the PL and has shown on multiple occasions that he can be trusted to step in admirably for the most part when called upon. Pickford can't be relied upon to do a darn thing and the fact that you are comparing our no. 2 to your no. 1 shows the levels we are dealing with here.

Kellerher is so reliable that he won us an EFL Cup on pens you know, that thing your Pickford again, knows nothing about so rather than talking about Karius who doesn't play for us anymore (you brought him up, not me), let's compare Kellerher and Pickford who actually plays for you. And keep in mind that Kellerher is our no. 2 while Pickford is your no. 1.

{Ed025's Note - your point is exceptionally moot Oli, how the hell can you compare Pickford to Kelleher when Jordan has more chance of winning the Eurovision song contest than a European trophy mate?, its comparing apples to oranges, let me ask you a question, if Ali was to leave would you be happy for Liverpool to promote Caoimhin and look for a new No2, or would you want them to buy a top class new keeper?, i think we all know the answer to that one..

19 Feb 2024 08:29:20
Follow up question Ed25. Point taken about signing a new keeper if Ali left. My question is, do you seriously imagine Pickford being on the list of potential replacements?

{Ed025's Note - no WDW, i think hes a decent keeper but not what i would call top notch, great shot stopper and decent with his feet but not great in the air and does not command his box like he should..

19 Feb 2024 12:05:57
If Pickford was at a top 8 side, he would be on the bench inside 2 months, he is bang average, making easy saves look good for the camera doesn't make you a good keeper, he can kick a mile, that's his best trait, how he is in front of Pope i will never know, he is just lucky, like David James was, that the competition isn't viewed as strong enough or the manager just likes him, Kelleher looked like a guy who needed more games to come out and fel like a No.1, he will get games now and he looks better for it, Allisson is the best out there so no chance Kelleher stays at No.1.
