Just passing a rumour that Alan Varela from Porto and Joao Gomes from Wolves are the targets for Liverpool.
Archie Gray of Leeds is being looked as a versatile replacement for Gomes and Endo.

I'd be very surprised if our summer targets were 3 midfielders given we signed 4 last year and we're in desperate need of replacing Matip, Thiago and probably Salah.

1 CB, 1 CM and 1 RW makes the most sense. I personally am hoping for a succession plan at LB as well, whoever that may be. Other than that surely just replacing any other surprise exits.

Varela would make perfect sense, in my opinion. As we need someone to rotate with Endo, if we play our traditional 4-3-3. Or, if we do play in a double pivot, a more defensive minded option than our current options.

However, I feel like in midfield we are already over stocked. Signings Gomes or Gray wouldn't make much sense. We have Mac Allister, Jones, Elliott, Szobo, Grav, possibly Trent, Clark, Bajcetic. All of which are fighting for two positions.

Now, Trent could stay at right back. Szobo move to a wing. But even then, the options are plentiful. I would rather we focus on key positions in need of strengthening, centre back being the key one. Maybe a left back, too, to provide competition / rotation with Robbo, as Tsimikas doesn't feel like a viable option any more.

Then, we would have to deal with any outgoings, there are already questions around Salah, Nunez and Diaz. I would not be surprised if at least one leaves, meaning we would have to sign a replacement, and at quite a sum. Doak will likely get another chance, but he had a long injury lay off, and didn't really impress when he did play.

Will be interesting to see what happens, though. Could be quite a few moving parts, from coaching staff to playing staff. It won't be boring, at least.

Varela and Gomes were players we were linked to us last winter window while they were still playing in South America. Slightly different players. Varela is your metronome, deep lying play maker. Gomes is more like your engine with good tackling, carrying and recovery pace. I think if you are seriously looking at those two then you have to question the LFC futures of Endo and Gravenberch, and maybe even Curtis.

Archie Gray is an interesting one. Not sure what position the lad will end up in. He's got a bit of Declan Rice about him. Could be a DM. Could be a CB. Could be a RB. Sounds like he'd be really expensive and given he's so young, a potential long term project. You could argue that his age and position profile is similar to Bajcetic. Gray is probably just a bit more physically developed by now.

FPF I can't say I've seen much of Gray. My mate is a Leeds fan though and thinks highly of him.

Varela I've only seen play twice (both against Arsenal) and he was exceptional to be fair. Wouldn't be against him as a Thiago replacement. Aggressive, mobile, technically looked sound too etc. An all around midfielder who'd probably pair very well with Mac Allister.

Gomes hasn't really done much at Wolves though when I've watched them. I don't know what his job is. He doesn't score or create, but then he's easily run off the ball too and doesn't shield the defence well either. Not impressed and not sure he's much better than Clark or Bajcetic. I would leave him well alone myself.

Expect Fulhams Robinson to be a major target. Tosin isn't going to happen. And Carvalho will have a fresh start which we all hope he will take.

09 May 2024 07:27:49
I like Robinson I’d be very happy with that.

 2

09 May 2024 09:10:59
I've read he grew up in Liverpool as well and is a big fan of the club. Just about to enter his prime years and already a very solid left back defensively. He's not quite as effective as Robbo in the final 3rd, but I think our priority needs to be to stop leaking goals for fun next year and Robbo looks like he's slowed down a bit, despite being superb vs Spurs. We need our defence to give the front 5 or 6 a platform to go and express themselves, instead of feeling the pressure to score 3+ goals every game in case we wobble at the back.

 5

09 May 2024 10:00:06
An upgrade on tsimikas so I’m happy with that .

 2

{Ed025's Note - Mr Bean would be an upgrade on Tsimikas Dhfc.. :)

09 May 2024 10:28:47
Robinson is a good player but we can do much better. Robertson is better than him. If we’re signing a left back it should be someone better than Robertson and make Robertson the understudy rather than signing an understudy.

 3

09 May 2024 11:17:39
Great athlete, good numbers. Could do what Robbo has done for us over the years.

However, not sure he is technical enough to play the way that the fullback role is evolving now.

So much will depend on what the new coach wants to do with his fullbacks. Getting another Robbo is pointless if we want them to use the right foot or invert into LCB or even midfield.

 0

09 May 2024 11:47:04
Oh no, Robinson, Robertson - going to cause problems for people of my age 🙁.

 3

09 May 2024 11:56:09
OneKiss, I think he's better defensively than Robertson already and possibly then any left back in the league. Had this conversation one some mates back in January, and I couldn't come up with one who is more defensively sound. He reminds me a bit of Kyle Walker in his ability to stand a winger up 1v1 and track runners.

I think you may have a point though regarding his ability going forward. He isn't as good as Robertson offensively and In my opinion he never will be because he lacks the technique on his crosses. Robbo has great whip and pace on his delivery hence why he takes set pieces as well. Robinson is more of a hit the by-line and cut it back kind of player. It often goes under the radar because of how good Trent is, but Robbo has the most Prem assists in history for a defender.

I'd be happy with Robinson myself, but I'd be lying if I said there wasn't aspects of the role Robertson is superior at.

 2

{Ed001's Note - if he is like Walker, then he is a woeful defender. Kyle Walker is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen 1v1 or at tracking runners. All he does is outrun people. He has no defensive mindset at all, that is why he keeps getting caught out this season as his pace is starting to go.}

 5

09 May 2024 12:04:31
I think he’s a great left back, great addition if we could get him. My cousin went out with him for a while when he was with Everton and Bolton, she used to go and watch him play.
Probably love to be back on Merseyside.

 1

09 May 2024 12:49:56
Easy WDW3 :

Left back = Robbo.

 1

09 May 2024 13:10:52
I get what you mean Ed001, as Walker does get caught napping and although he relies on pace it is effective a lot of the time to be fair. He's definitely over rated though, I agree. Robinson is less reliant on pace though and I think has better anticipation of danger. Just meant he reminds me of him in some ways in terms of his running power to just bully wingers out of games, like we've seen form Walker at times.

 0

{Ed001's Note - I am not convinced by Robinson, I think he is too reliant on pace and gets easily taken out of the game by the better teams. Plus it is pointless buying a wing-back like him when Slot favours inverted full-backs by all accounts. He will be useless cutting inside as he lacks technical quality on the ball. For me Robinson is at his level and very often goes missing as he is not quite good enough to step up.}

 1

09 May 2024 13:57:12
Robinson has had a good season and is a good player but that’s it. If Liverpool are signing a left back it should be someone like Davies or Theo Hernandez. I think the best thing to do is go with Robertson and keep Beck as competition. Sell Tsimikas. And spend in other areas.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Zero chance.}

 1

09 May 2024 13:58:58
Love it Ron 😁😁.

 1

09 May 2024 13:51:04
Kerkez or Ait-Nouri would be my preferences. Both are much better than Robinson technically.

 0

09 May 2024 13:51:27
What about Ait Nouri or Kerkez Ed1? Both better player than Robinson I think. I read some report saying that Slot doesn't fully inverted his full back, but rather only at certain time.

Maybe like Trent vs Spurs when he occasionally invert instead of fully inverted most of the time. And what I understand is that his full back still provide the width needed as he prefers his wingers playing closer to goal.

 0

{Ed001's Note - Ait Nouri is more skilfull and a better 1v1 defender, but he does have concentration issues and can go wandering without thought at times. I would take him rather than Robinson but I still wouldn't pay for him.

Kerkez is very good going forward, which he will do no matter the circumstances of the match. However he is a very weak defender.

Personally I would rather give Beck a chance than buy either of them. Robertson has a year at least in him to guide Beck on. Why spend needless money when the option is right there for free that is on a very similar level but with potential to be better?}

 2

09 May 2024 14:37:20
Agree on the inverted point Ed001. Can't see Robinson as being very effective at that.

If we're going to be playing the full backs inverted then i don't think it matters too much if they are left footed? So I'd probably go and test Spurs resolve for Porro or consider letting Slot bring Geertruida with him.

 0

{Ed001's Note - but they would still be playing out of position when the team drops off defensively. You still really are better with a left footer there.}

 0

09 May 2024 15:16:31
Ed001, I always thought it worked better for City in possession when Cancelo was at left back as a right footer because then he was coming inside onto his stronger foot. But fair point on the defensive side of it. Be interesting to see how Slot utilises his full backs though, as I hear he really likes to stretch the width of the pitch but then also hear he plays inverted full backs. Hard to see how you can do both unless he plays with really high and wide wingers.

 0

{Ed001's Note - Cancelo was a special case as he was so good.}

08 May 2024 12:13:41
Hi Ed’s, been reading lots suggesting that we’re making a move for Mohammed Kudus or Johan Bakayoko are these the RW targets?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Mohammed Kudus (AM) West Ham are not looking to sell - perhaps in the summer of 2025 if a significant offer is made matching his release clause which then comes into effect.

Johan Bakayoko (RW) Cost effective solution for PSG but may stuggle to be a starter. Liverpool have him down the list of potential Salah replacements but have not made any approach to PSV. Borussia Dortmund see him as an option to Sancho. Spurs and Brentford offer realistic options. Chelsea and Manchester City have sent scouts but both have preferred options.}

 9

08 May 2024 15:39:32
Ed, do you have any information about how big is Kudus' release clause?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Yes but that is for 2025, not now.}

 4

08 May 2024 18:37:35
Ed002 I know you have responded before but can’t find it via the search function and it may now be an updated list of names, but who are Liverpool actively looking at to replace the inevitable Salah departure?
Surely not Sane still as that was Klopp who had the hots was it?

 0

{Ed002's Note - 25 Apr 2024 13:49:38}

 4

08 May 2024 23:04:10
Cheers Ed, much appreciated.

I’d hope we avoid Sane, Edwards, Neto and Chiesa.

 0

09 May 2024 04:50:42
Thanks Ed002
Sane is not the answer, Edward’s nowhere near good enough for the reds, Bakayoko could be good but is unproven at this level and I struggle to think of any others that would be a good fit?
Who in your own opinion would be a good option to fill Salah right sided role?
I would possibly look at more of an out and out striker and have less focus on the need for our wide players to provide high goal returns each season.
What strikers would you personally suggest could be possible decent options 002?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Edwards is a very well liked player. Kubo might be a risk and may take time to settle. I am not aware of Liverpool looking for an out and out striker.}

08 May 2024 23:04:12
Hi Ed, I searched in the dare search option for the 25 April rumours but it says that option is not available and gives me a multiple choice option from 21 Apr to 24 April, I assume I'm doing something wrong, any help would be appreciated.

I think we might give Elliott and Szoboszlai opportunities on the right side of the attack. I don't know how Slot utilises his wide men but if they're coming from deep and creating, that could work. If he likes goal scoring wingers who will run in behind the defence then we'll have to dip into the market. I don't think we can replace Salah like for like though. The only player in Europe who can without a massive drop off is Saka and even he is levels below right now. So it's either adapt to play slightly differently as a team or bring in a pale imitation and make ourselves weaker as a team.

Salah is the greatest winger in Premier league history. You simply don't get players who pump out 20 goals and 10 assists (minimum) for 7 years straight. It never happened before and it'll be a long time before it happens again. He's absolutely in the same conversation as Kane, Lewandowski, Benzema, Suarez etc. He never matched Messi or Ronaldo, but he was in that next bracket without a doubt. We as fans have got to appreciate how lucky we've been and accept that players like Salah don't come around that often. We were blessed to have Suarez and Salah in the same decade, undeniably 2 of the top 10 forwards of their era. Slot's got a job on his hands to restructure our attack because we likely can't look to one player for a guaranteed 30-60 goals involvements a season going forward. Arsenal are showing you can compete without that though. And City used to beat us to the league pre-Haaland with goals spread around the team. It can be done.

Hi Ed2

Is it true Nunez is unhappy and looking to leave this summer?

 2

{Ed002's Note - Darwin Nunes (S) I am not aware of plans to replace him but clearly he is making a fuss about social media. I am not aware of abuse - if there is it is terrible.}

 24

07 May 2024 13:29:07
ED002 - I couldn’t agree more. It’s unbelievable that he’s getting abused on social media if indeed it’s true.
I know he’s had a couple of seasons but the more pressure is put on him the bigger the impact playing. He’s rushing things.
Whatever happened to YNWA.

 2

07 May 2024 14:17:14
I don't understand the abuse, ok his finishing isn't great but he puts in 100% effort everytime he pulls on the Jersey. all brave keyboard warriors that wouldn't dare say a word to him face to face . cowards.

 10

07 May 2024 15:33:22
I feel for Darwin. The abuse is unacceptable, but I wouldn't advise the way he is handling it either. If he is a guy that doesn't like to be in the spotlight, drawing attention to himself is going to bring on exactly what he would prefer to avoid.

I like him as a player, and think he has a good heart, but I'm unsure if LFC is the right club for him anymore.

 3

07 May 2024 16:03:28
Not an expert, but my experience with X and Instagram is that pretty much every pro athlete receives abuse. If you could see the amount Emma Raducanu gets in her comments, that's probably just a fraction of it.

I sometimes wonder why they don't just delete their social media. But I guess that would affect their sponsorship money.

 4

07 May 2024 17:00:04
Darwin at the very least deserves a second a season under the new manager, plenty of the ingredients for an outstanding striker are there he just needs to get it to click.

 5

07 May 2024 17:06:23
It creates a lot of exposure and additional income. Most of these guys make so much money that the additional income is rather immaterial to their quality of life, but whenever I say that I get piled on for telling people how to make a living. You'll never convince me though that it is anything other than a fool's playground.

 4

07 May 2024 20:22:20
Don’t blame Nunez for taking his social media down. Sorry but I don’t but into all this “ he earns a fortune crap” abuse is abuse no matter how much you earn.

All these key board warriors call themselves fans? Sitting there from Outer Mongolia, abusing one of our players, put my house on the fact they don’t go the game……

Embarrassing.

 5

07 May 2024 22:57:05
I’ve said it before, if I was on over 10 grand a week and part of my job relied on a being high profile then I would absolutely pay someone (an agency) to manage it for me.

I would not ever look on it myself.

 8

08 May 2024 19:11:14
Ron, don't most of them do that anyway? I was under the impression that most professional athletes had their media presence managed by "handlers" for such things?

 1

08 May 2024 20:51:55
I don’t know ArAy, I don’t actually know any personally.

If they do then they won’t know of any abuse. Doesn’t make it acceptable but does make it unlikely it’s having any affect on the player or his family or on the reasons for taking LFC related pictures down.

 0

08 May 2024 21:59:00
Nunez patience/ temperament has been in question since he arrived, and whilst abuse is unacceptable it is, as others have mentioned, inevitable.
What doesn't kill you, and all that.
I wonder if what Darwin lacks can be coached, also if he'll be granted another season to improve. 30 goal involvements is not small change, but the issue is that the misses tend to be the most important chances/ games.

 0

06 May 2024 00:02:54
Darwin has removed liverpool content from his instagram rumour he wants out any truth?

 3

06 May 2024 01:06:43
Still has all his LFC content up on Twitter / X, so who knows?

 3

06 May 2024 01:27:29
After the hit pieces sanctioned by the club (perhaps Edwards? ) through Bascombe and Joyce Im not surprised by the vitriol hate that's been aimed at him online. Leaking that he was a klopp signing and basically putting him on the market for the summer. Despicable way to go about it especially when the lad needs an arm around the shoulder and support.

 41

06 May 2024 06:19:44
@Warya: Well said mate.

 8

06 May 2024 07:13:47
Deleted them apparently because of the abuse him and his family was receiving.

Some of our “fans” wouldn’t understand you’ll never walk alone if it was tattooed on their forehead.

 39

06 May 2024 07:15:21
Arm around the shoulder and support? he's a grown man who earns more money in a week than you'll probably earn in ten years, get a grip he plays football but a brain surgeon, he needs to knuckle down and get on with it. That's what is wrong with this world people like you feeling sorry for footballers who have no concept of the real world, wish somebody would feel sorry for me when I'm in work and can't be arsed but still have to fit in a Full shift and do my job properly.

 37

06 May 2024 07:28:30
I mean I kind of agree with a lot on this thread but Darwin needs composure he’s got everything else but composure.
We’ve seen him score nearly every type of goal so he’s got it all in their he just needs to slow things down fractionally and I still believe we have a 25-30 goal a season player in him . Be interesting to see if he plays a big part or bit part under slot.

 8

06 May 2024 08:31:29
There’s lots of variation of a so called football fan in this day and age.

It’s now a world wide market and Liverpool apparently have a global following of 207 million.

If you’re only contribution is to be sat behind your keyboard giving personal abuse to players and staff not just at your club but any club. Then let’s be honest you’re not really a fan are you.

I think people need to remember football isn’t a tv show of their favourite characters. It’s there to be enjoyed. And the more you watch it in the flesh including grass roots level the more you will enjoy it.

 16

06 May 2024 08:31:55
Bit harsh on Nunez. One thing you can say about him is that he does put in a shift. Yes he gets paid a lot but the days are long gone of it being acceptable for us to get the same abuse as he does for doing his job. Desk warriors should get behind him rather than piling in. And if the club did sanction hit pieces on him then that's a dog act. Wonder how many players will walk away rather than sign for a club that treats its staff like that?

 12

06 May 2024 08:35:00
Darwin Nunez Y. N. W. A.

 19

06 May 2024 08:39:32
Some people have bags and bags of self confidence, others don’t. It’s not a ‘football thing’ it is a ‘person thing’. It’s about mental health and some people don’t get it.

 24

06 May 2024 08:51:02
Arm around him for what? 2 years is enough time to prove your worth. If its true he was a Klopp signing then he made a mistake.

 14

06 May 2024 10:28:41
Speaking from experience, I bet most posters on here would crumble if they had to stand up and speak in front of a room of 50. Meanwhile happy to criticise fellow human beings when they play in front of tens of thousands each week and are judged by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people every week knowing the expectations and amounts of money involved. Talent aside, all professional footballers deserve credit for mental fortitude of dealing with that pressure, in their teenage years and 20's no less. If it's so easy, then you lot go do it.

 30

06 May 2024 10:35:34
You would be surprised how abusive trolls online can still have an effect on even the toughest strong minded people regardless of how much money or how accomplished they are. Bully’s are bully’s. And it’s become a lot easier to be anngry since we anll got locked in for a couple years. Wasn’t it only a few months ago that he was the toast of the town? I still love the lad. Love the chaos he brings. Just a shame quite a lot of players lost form at that point.

 10

06 May 2024 10:37:32
@Real_Life_Red, I’m not Nunez’s biggest fan but the fact is he has scored 18 goals and contributed 13 goal assists this season, so reaching for the pitchforks may not be warranted. Again, I’d say, like @Jimthered, that you have probably never been in a position of managing people and trying to get the best performance from them on a regular basis. The idea that people with low self esteem / confidence need to ‘buck up’ might earn you a fortune if you put it in a book.

 18

06 May 2024 10:40:21
Eds - there was the article of Nunez being a Klopp signing, probably leaked by the club, and now this. Is there any suggestions of his agent doing the rounds to find a new club or the club telling his agent to look elsewhere? Do you know of any interest? Seems a bit of a weird one given there could be the departure of other forwards namely Salah, also selling the second top scorer.

 1

{Ed002's Note - The club don't "leak" such things.}

 13

06 May 2024 10:45:20
Would any of you swap Nunez for Joao Felix? I can just imagine Nunez in a Simeone team and Felix could be the Firmino replacement we never got. Could be a pragmatic deal that suits all parties.

 1

{Ed002's Note - There is no interest in either player from the clubs.}

 3

06 May 2024 10:53:41
The various hit pieces by local journos lately have been nothing short of disgusting. We don’t do that kind of thing.

 7

06 May 2024 11:01:10
I’ve criticised his game - it’s largely fault on my part for being so emotionally invested in the team and so frustrated. I’ve drawn a line under it a few weeks ago.

Directing abuse at him or his family is just disgusting behaviour. He actually seems like a good lad, a good professional who puts all his effort into this amazing chance he’s been given.

He gets an obscene wage but he doesn’t set the market and he doesn’t shirk at all.

 11

06 May 2024 11:03:42
Yeah but no one cares about you jimtheread.
Not in a rude way…. but you don’t get every second of your day scrutinized and opened up to the world for your job.

Pretending that money cures that is just asinine.

 11

06 May 2024 11:20:56
"Meanwhile happy to criticise fellow human beings when they play in front of tens of thousands each week and are judged by hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of people every week knowing the expectations and amounts of money involved. "

They get paid obscene amounts of money to do that. Nuñez could retire today and never have to work a day in his life again. He CHOOSES to play in front of so many people.

 10

06 May 2024 11:27:45
Would Nunez settle for a place in the second 11/ play Vs the weaker sides, whilst he develops his game? He is in the top 5 players, in the top 5 leagues for goals/ assists this season-which is not a walk in the park.
Perhaps he may never develop the psychological/ temperament side of his game, but he is still an asset.
I imagine that if we were to bring in a number 9, to directly challenge his place in the side, it may help push him on.

 4

06 May 2024 11:30:10
"That's what is wrong with this world people like you feeling sorry for footballers who have no concept of the real world" - that's a hot take.

 5

06 May 2024 11:45:15
The lad is a workhorse and always puts in 100% (as all players should wearing a Mighty Red shirt) and I genuinely like him! BUT we paid £85mill for the bloke to score a hatful of goals to win a PL title plus plus. The truth is his lack of composure means he’s missed easily over 10 absolute sitters which has cost us points and hence more silverware. He’s had plenty of time to acclimatise to the physicality and pace of the PL so how long do you give him?! 🤷🏼.

 8

06 May 2024 11:47:41
It's the social media age of clickbait, of compilation videos of worst misses and the public having access to your profile. Why footballers engage in social media is beyond me. I think its awful if so called fans have abused Darwin or any other player. this is a problem with society. you're right wdw3 that you can't tell people to buck up. However, to be an elite level sportsperson you need to be incredibly resillient. So your comparison to the average person who can't speak in front of 50 people is not really relevant. To get to the top of the game these thing need to be motivational and wood for the fire. I hope Slot is able to get Nunez to that place. However if he can't get confidence and build resilience and continues to miss chances and be offside then the top level of football is not the place for him.

 5

06 May 2024 12:22:42
I’ll be honest I’m finding this a little far fetched.

We always say the media is click bait but now we believe them that this is Liverpool fans abusing his family on their say so.

Just looking at reality sometimes I’ll open my messenger groups in a day and there’s like over 100 messages in there. Do I read them all. Do I heck. I’ve not got time.

So now we need to believe players like Nunez who probably have thousands and thousands of messages every day, sit/ there and read through every single one and then go onto each posters account to get a background check on them to ensure who they support before telling the media.

By deleting the LFC stuff and not the actual account tells me the message is aimed at LFC and not fans. Because fans still have the exact same access to his account whoever is running it.

I imagine Klopp saying Darwin why are you late again.

Sorry gaffer i was reading my 65 thousand instagram messages 🤣.

People saying that there’s keyboard warriors abusing him…. in all honesty, making the abuse personal is wrong but if you can’t handle the heat, stay out the kitchen…. in other words, don’t post anything on social media using your person accounts to post them.

He should not be subject to abuse full stop.

But I’m not against him being sold, yesterday summed him up yet another 1 on 1 he fluffed. Nowhere near clinical enough for a title chasing side. That’s the real issue.

No excuse for him storming down the tunnel blanking the fans. Nothing between the ears with that lad and you can't coach brains. I'll be glad to see the back of him although I wish him well in his future endeavours he's just isn't good enough. If heskey was called donkey Nunez should be called rocking horse.

Nunez is called Captain Chaos. His name his chanted by the fans in the stadium. Possibly he has a song as well. But truth be told, has he really done enough to warrant all these?

Ours arms have long been around his shoulders but I really don't know how much longer those arms need to be there for him to start being the number 9 we all hoped we were getting when we bought him.

Nunez has not worked out so far and if he was sold this summer I wouldn't be sad even though I like him and want him to succeed here.

With all these said, he or his family should NEVER BE SUBJECT TO ABUSE no matter how much he is being paid or how many clear cut chances he misses.

Have you ever seen anyone try so hard for the fans? He runs his socks off, gets stuck in the trolls are out cos we never won the quad, always looking for scapegoats. Its been klopp, jones szob konate matip mo Robbo the Greek Trent gakpo endo grav even read get rid of Alison . I’m sure Darwin will feel at home in that group.

S. Dundee tried 100% and worked as hard as Nunez but that doesn’t mean he was anywhere near good enough. Nunez just doesn’t have the necessary composure or intelligence to be the top level striker we need. Even Jackson has more PL. goals this season.

Love Nunez and thought he would turn into a legendary player for us given his work rate but we can’t risk another season of him misfiring and costing us points so unfortunately I’d sell him now. I love Konate, a beast of a player, but he can’t play more than 3-4 games without pulling something which again costs us points so I’d sell him now. Jones, I love Jota, gives his all and so direct towards goal. His goal against Chelsea was scored because he ran with all his energy at the goal and got the lucky ricochets he deserves. But again, he is constantly injured so he should be sold. Jones, the same, starts playing well for 3-4 games, gets injured and that pushes him back to being average again so I’d sell him. Matip and Thiago gone. Prob Salah. Endo faded in last few games. Mr Slot, we need a core of first team quality CB, CM and a forward please. Should be interesting next season then.

So Nuñez is pants and needs to go according to some 'fans' even though he's scored 18 and setup 13 this season? That's not a bad return no matter how you slice it. His problem is coaching IMO. Once coached right he'll turn into the machine i know he can be.

If a reasonable offer comes for Nunez this summer then we should sell. Get someone more reliable. We can't keep relying on Salah as our main source of goals. He is aging. In fact, he should also be sold if a reasonable offer comes for him as well.

If Nunez is not sold, I will keep supporting him and hopes he succeeds.

Ok Nigerred spose we sold him name a player who is better that we can get?

07 May 2024 00:24:23
I hope he isn't sold and continues to do well. That's right, continues to do well, because he has been and is. Some very short memories on here. 31 goal involvements this season so far, clearly room for improvement and people want rid. Absolute madness.

I just don’t think you win anything against the big clubs if you squander chances.
That’s where you see the difference, you won’t get 25 chances against the big clubs, so when it counts you need to be clinical.

i am surprised that some people here are arguing that they have a right to abuse somebody.

07 May 2024 04:14:44
As ever, get rid and then have a go at the club for not having a replacement.

Can I ask what’s so bad about Nunez being a ‘Klopp signing’ if, indeed, it is the case? Is it really a surprise to people that a manager should want a particular plater? Or are we saying it is ok but when the manager leaves the plaer (s) he wanted should leave with him? Saying the manager wanted him like it’s an accusation is quite a strange thing to do.

He's got less prem goals than Jackson, his stats are padded by the Europa league bulk.

People who are affected by social media need to learn there is an off button. There are some terrible trolls out there but you can stop it straight away with one finger.
No matter what anyone earns some people Need an arm around them to get the best from them. Its what Klopp does the hugs and the smiles are all about man management. But Nunez gets his name chanted by everyone in the stadium which should always be a boost to anyone's ego. he gives it his all every game so get behind hime while he has a red shirt on YNWA.

Is there evidence it’s our supporters posting the abuse? I just ask cause I read here it’s a given but I wonder if it’s trollls pretending? Either way it’s shocking and disgusting and doesn’t sound like the fans I know especially the ones here. Just made me think it doesn’t feel possible. I actually rate Darwin. Agree he misses a lot but he’s in the position to miss which in itself shows a level of game intelligence. I appreciate his work rate and hope to see him under Slot.

Why do you lot think he misses chances? Honestly I sometimes think people walk around with no empathy, in their own little worlds without giving a thought to how their actions affect others.

He misses chances because he is so desperate to do well for us but every time he misses a chance he knows he’ll be getting vitriolic abuse online from his own fans! How is he supposed to then perform with composure?! The pressure he is feeling must be suffocating!

He’s still a young man with only 4 years experience of playing football at a high level. His rise was meteoric so he’s not mentally prepared for the swathes of abuse he gets. You compare that to Haaland who’s been brought up by a footballer and so has been in the spotlight probably since he kicked his first football and you might start to understand.

Give the lad a break and support him. He has all the attributes to be a special player but I fear he will be forced out of the club before he gets the chance to show it.

Exactly right Kloppiche.

I was at the match on Sunday and Richarlison was getting dogs abuse from our fans. So it’s ok to abuse opponents?
Abuse is abuse.

If you’re in this profession you’ll have supporters and you’ll have opponents. There’s no suggestion that only Liverpool fans can messsge Darwin on SM.

I would suggest it’s easier to accept and expect abuse from other team’s fans Ron but when your own turn on you it would be much harder to brush off.

It’s like, I don’t care what most people say about me but if a friend or a member of my family criticises me it hurts so much more.

We should be protecting him from the rival fans abuse not wading in two footed to help them beat him down!

08 May 2024 07:44:44
How do we protect him from rival fans on SM?

It doesn’t make sense I’m afraid. The only way to protect him is for him to do it himself and block trolls or simply log off.

There is no way to verify which team you support on SM.

It’s not Nunez’s fault we’re so porous in midfield and defence. It’s not his fault we seem to always give opponents a one goal head start and have an unerringly ability to give up a lead in a game cheaply, I’d suggest that if we were more capable at that end of the pitch it would take a lot of pressure off the attackers and maybe they wouldn’t snatch at chances in desperation.

Not 100% true VV, Nunez has given goals away in his own half too - thinking FA cup.

08 May 2024 22:26:55
Ron it makes perfect sense it’s just that you don’t want to see it.

You can take criticism from rival fans, after all they are rival fans and aren’t supposed to like you but you’re own fans should be sticking up for you and giving you encouragement.

It’s very hard to ignore the criticism when it’s not only the rival fans giving it but your own fans too!

You’re right though it is difficult to verify who someone supports on social media. You for example cannot be a Liverpool fan with some of the rubbish you spout about Liverpool players.

You’re exactly the type of fan the players should be ignoring.

I guess Slot is a transfer of sorts, so this question qualifies for this forum.

It's more than a week since the announcement that a pay-off has been agreed with Feyenoord. But no confirmation of a deal having been reached with the man himself. Should we read anything into this? Are they still haggling or what?

 2

{Ed002's Note - I would not read anything in to it. The club are still working to try and bring folk with him. One would think everything will be agreed reasonably soon. Feyenoord have a replacement lined up and are in a similar position.

Hi eds and reds, I’d read and rather interesting piece regarding a potential swap deal involving Darwin Nunez and Lois Openda. Surely nonsense?

{Ed002's Note - I would have thought someone is teasing you.}
