Hi Eds, seeing a report that Liverpool have made contact to sign Waldemar Anton of Stuttgart. I've never heard of the guy is he any good or is there even any truth to it? Thanks.

 0

{Ed002's Note - Waldemar Anton (CB) Signed a new contract in January to fend off the interest of Borussia Dortmund. Bayer Leverkusen have him as a target to replenish their defence which is attracting a lot of interest but with Hiroki Ito departing and both Rouault & Stergiou returning to their clubs Stuttgart will not look to sell their captain Anton. I am not aware of any approach to Stuttgart by Liverpool at this time.}

Thanks, I appreciate it as always.

VDB is a decent bargaining chip.

16 Jun 2024 18:51:40
Wouldn’t make much sense as a signing, he’ll be 28 in July so he’s getting on a bit, and the only reason to sign a player that old is if they’re exceptional, which he isn’t. He looks a bit one paced and not entirely the most mobile player in the world.

 0

{Ed025's Note - getting on a bit at 28?. i thought that was when a player was nearing his peak VV, that must make me a neolithic artifact mate.. :)

 8

16 Jun 2024 22:32:35
Correct on both accounts Ed ;)

 5

{Ed025's Note - thanks for that SG.. :)

17 Jun 2024 06:04:20
Signing someone at 28 years old can make perfect sense with the right player. They’re at their peak and will likely be for 4 years which is plenty of time to get your value out of them.

 5

17 Jun 2024 10:19:56
if we had the chance to sign Messi at the ripe old age of 28.:D
I have no idea who this guy is but as others have said, it really depends on the player and their own development pathway. Could be the experienced leader we need to add to the squad etc.

Hi Ed002, a gut feeling question here. Not your favourite I know.

Do you think Saudi will offer for Salah this summer or wait it out with only one year left to next Summer?

 2

{Ed002's Note - Michael Emanalo will make what he considers a very good offer on behalf of Al-Ittihad for Salah and has identified two alternatives he will look to if not successful - leaving Salah to run down his contract.}

 7

16 Jun 2024 10:45:42
Following from your answer Ed002, do you know of any indication from the club’s side on offering an extension?

 0

{Ed002's Note - I really doubt the club would give him a guge increase in wages and an extension - and why would he be tempted by it as opposed to letting his contract run down and pocketing a huge signing on bonus and huge wages?}

 5

16 Jun 2024 12:16:42
Thank you Ed002. I think the club should accept a good offer but sounds very much like the ball is in Salah's court.

 3

{Ed002's Note - It is.}

 4

16 Jun 2024 12:20:00
Eds does player power tend to outweigh the clubs/ best business interests in situations like these?
What if FSG accept a bid this summer but Salah says no?

 0

{Ed002's Note - Then he stays and runs down his contract.}

 3

16 Jun 2024 14:17:03
On the plus side we get to keep him for one more season time enough to prepare for the inevitable then he gets his move to Saudi and we say thank you to an absolute beast of a footballer who we got for an absolute steal, glass half full.

 6

16 Jun 2024 14:46:33
I'd rather sell now and pocket the 100 million and buy a replacement. Sureky that makes business sense ed2?

 6

{Ed002's Note - Depending on what the offer is.}

 5

16 Jun 2024 16:26:38
My only hope here is that any offer comes in at a sensible point for us to do something in terms of a replacement. Clubs know when the windows are, there's no need for an offer for our star player 10mins before it closes.

 3

16 Jun 2024 20:58:52
I think he leaves on a free I really do . I trust the club will do what’s best all round for the club and no sentiment affecting decisions.

 1

16 Jun 2024 23:05:23
I think - no proof at all - that he wants one last crack at the CL. I reckon he’ll run his contract down and take the big cheque next summer.

 3

17 Jun 2024 12:36:32
The offer could be £40m and it would make more sense to sell rather than let him go on a free, the save in wages an fee make it so.

15 Jun 2024 18:15:03
Hi hope you enjoy the Euros
My step brother is Dutch lives in Ilpendam nar The captital the word is that De Ligt wants to work with slot and VVD any one heard any thing official?

 3

15 Jun 2024 19:26:52
Cant say i've watched much of him since he broke through at Ajax and was the next big thing. would people be happy with him?

 1

15 Jun 2024 20:00:47
Ed002 has already posted about this player, look and you will find.

 4

15 Jun 2024 20:09:26
June, the thing is that de Ligt was being talked about like he was the next Maldini while at Ajax. But they let him go because the guy who took his place was supposed to be even better (Schuurs) . Given that he is available, not having really made it at Juventus and Bayern, I'd be wary a bit. And that market value of 60-70 Million is nothing to scoff at. The positive side is that he's only 24.

 4

15 Jun 2024 21:02:55
de Ligt is on a crazy salary at Bayern isn’t he? Something like 300’000 a week? I’d think that would rule us out. He has Man United vanity signing written all over him.

15 Jun 2024 21:11:04
Underperforming, overpriced/ hyped players are not really Eddie's style, are they?

 2

15 Jun 2024 22:16:13
Always felt like he turns like the Titanic and is just as quick.

Good defender, don’t think he’s got it in the premier league.

 5

16 Jun 2024 06:07:01
Swerve it like a bridesmaid at your sister's wedding, no way Fenway are going to sanction that kind of money just because he wants to be Virgils new sidekick, I'd rather we hook Branthwaite off Everton.

 1

{Ed001's Note - I would suggest the issue is not FSG, who have nothing to do with it, but the scouts that will have looked at him and realised he is awful. As Ed77 puts it, he is a Dutch Harry Maguire. A big, slow, ponderous lump of a player. I have no idea why anyone would want him.}

 11

16 Jun 2024 08:38:16
Hopefully @Victor is right it’d be nice to see him at Old Trafford.

 5

16 Jun 2024 08:47:10
Good on the ball, not good off the ball, sounds like Bayern just want to get rid of him and his agent wants to make him seem desirable still.

15 Jun 2024 15:50:48
Hello I promised more information from former LFC coach. Before he quit, he was told that Alexander Arnold will extend his contract with LFC. The source of information will be a colleague of Gerrard.

 14

15 Jun 2024 17:51:25
Every man and his dog have been saying this, its no big secret.

 16

15 Jun 2024 20:40:40
To be fair hyypia has been saying this for a good few weeks and nothing in the media has confirmed TAA signing. Keep it coming Hyypia, this is what the site is all about.

Sound mate.

15 Jun 2024 12:01:42
Hi Eds, do we have any interest in David Hancko? He was mentioned here a couple of months ago as a VVD replacement and that we had scouted him but now I don't see his name mentioned. Thanks.

 1

{Ed002's Note - David Hancko (CB) Only joined Feyenoord in 2022 and a clear not for sale was the response when Newcastle asked after him in 2023. I am not aware of any formal approach from Liverpool to Feyenoord but they were represented by scouts at games against PSV and Celtic in December. Agent has been offering him around with contact made with Chelsea (who have no interest), Liverpool, Bayern Munich and PSG - and likely others. Liverpool certainly have preferred options so at best he will be down the list for them. Bayern and PSG had no interest but Leicester have made contact with Feyenoord and will likely make an offer.}

15 Jun 2024 13:28:14
Hi ed. do you have information about which players that liverpool had formal approaches in these recent days? Apologize, because i have tried to search your update/ comments but still can't find it. Thanks eds and enjoy the Euros.

 1

{Ed002's Note - I really have no idea what you mean.}

 2

15 Jun 2024 20:31:23
I think the poster may mean who Liverpool are interested in and may have missed your post suggesting Ederson and Pancho were potential signings.

 0

15 Jun 2024 23:13:39
I read it as, has there been any new information, in the short time since the last comprehensive update from Ed02.

15 Jun 2024 09:45:05
Hello Eds.

Seems like Ederson is now ahead of Koopmeiners for incomings and Pacho still seems to be the front runner for CB.

I'm surprised Wieffer isn't an option since Arne has worked with him already, maybe there is an agreement with Feyenoord, not to go near their players?

Do you have any info on what Liverpool have planned for these players?

Tyler Morton
Bobby Clark
Lewis Koumas
Owen Beck
Ben Doak
Fabio Carvalho
James McConnell
Jayden Danns

Looks Like Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams time is up. Sepp Van den Berg likely to stay or leave?

Thank you for your time and info.

 0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about Ederson and Liverpool has no interest in Wieffer at this time.

Phillips will leave and Van den Berg has burned all bridges with the club - which could prove to be a huge mistake.

Tyler Morton (DM) Hard to see a future at Liverpool. Has had a very good season on loan at Hull and a Championship side may offer him a reboot.

Bobby Clark (CM) Loan possible with Derby wanting a loan to buy deal.

Owen Beck (LB) No clear future at Liverpool - maybe one last loan.

Ben Doak (RB) I suspect he will stay.

Fabio Carvalho (AM/LW) Will be looked at in pre-season before the club determine if he is available or not.

James McConnell (CM) - Sorry I have nothing.

Jayden Danns (S) Will stay.}

15 Jun 2024 11:26:40
Thanks Ed002. Is it the interview comments that make you say Sepp has burnt bridges with the club? I only ask as Ed001 said that was taken out of context, so I'm a little confused? Is he actively looking for a new club or LFC actively looking to offload him?
Sorry if this has already been covered in detail and have a good weekend.

 1

{Ed002's Note - Sepp van den Berg (CB) He likely won't get a chance as a starter at Liverpool and will most likely be sold in the summer to raise funds if a buyer can be found - could be a mistake by the club but the player has taken the position that he wants to move. There is no release clause for Mainz but they will have a a first pick option if he were to be sold - and they have made their interest known and will look for an option to buy the player who has had a great season. They have already held talks with Liverpool. Brentford, Southampton and Wolfsburg offer options. Will need to speak to the club and see what other options he has, but he certainly burned bridges in an interview with De Telegraaf.}

15 Jun 2024 13:37:55
Brentford, Southampton and Wolfsburg aren’t exactly Madrid and City banging at our door to sign him. 15/ 20m and we move on.

 1

15 Jun 2024 16:14:40
I’m not sure wieffer can do a much better job than Curtis or even Alexis in the 6, the midfield gets more time on the ball in feyenoord and there’s no guarantee at all that he can make the step up, he’s a tempo setting deep lying player rather than a tackling all action athletic 6, which ederson comes much closer to in terms of skill set

In the Feyenoord team I would much prefer if we got one of their defenders, geertruida is their star imo but Hartman and Hancko are also very good, ultimately I wouldn’t say any of them are really necessary considering the players we have, though I am a big admirer of geertruida, seems a great personality too.

I see Matt Hummels is a free agent, I think he'd be a top quality backup for a season or two to replace Matip.

Also rumours of VVD in talks with Al-Nassr.

 0

{Ed002's Note - No chance of Hummels.}

 13

14 Jun 2024 11:21:08
Hummels is 36 in December.

14 Jun 2024 12:23:56

My bad Ed2.

 2

{Ed002's Note - No problem - just repost it.}

 2

14 Jun 2024 14:04:34
So @RedAk, you will replace a 33 year old who is arguably the best CB in the PL last season, with a 36 year old who is as washed as they come even tho, he had a good season overall, right? Bro, I propose you go work that out again and let me know.

As for the Al Nassr links, why would he go to a retirement league when he has a crack at the CL you know, that thinh he has won before? Again, go work that out again and then we can discuss.

 5

14 Jun 2024 15:56:36
Oli the way you write your posts sometimes makes you sound like a patronising, disrespectful know it all.
Are you those things?
I propose you go and think about that and we can discuss.

14 Jun 2024 16:35:21
Oilred. Matip the best CB in the prem last year that a bowled statement mate. How about Gabriel, stones to name a few.

 3

14 Jun 2024 17:09:30
i think he was referring to VVD.

 4

14 Jun 2024 18:54:09
VVD is still the gold stanard of CBs for me. Would i swap him for Saliba? Maybe for age. But dam VVD does pretty well in a system where our 6 is a playmaker, our RB goes wondering wherever he's vibing and our LC is like a LWB.

 14

14 Jun 2024 22:52:14
Great post funky, couldn't agree more.

 4

15 Jun 2024 08:06:57
Hummels was too slow for the PL ten years ago. I’m sure he hasn’t sped up with age.

 4

15 Jun 2024 10:04:47
Longthing76, where did I mention Matip cos the poster clearly mentioned VVD in comparison to Hummels?

 2

15 Jun 2024 12:12:48
We know you watch every game twice. Perhaps you should start reading every post twice.

Clearly says Matip in opening post.

17 Jun 2024 00:03:02
Oli - your post, Very funny, very patronising and very wrong!
