Even if we had won the game today overall, the performance was poor and not good enough. Quality was missing, but for me more so the hunger and desire wasn't there.

Defensively, we always look very vulnerable. Midfield was sloppy and again the attack, even though we create chances, we very rarely look like scoring.
The changes for me came way too late and were the wrong men. Diaz was our best player today, and he goes off?

Such a shame and a sad way for Klopp's final season to finish. Especially is if you had asked a lot of Liverpool fans at the start of season if we get back to CL and win a trophy it's a step in the right direction. Madly enough, it was the kids that rescued our season and since the first team players have come back, we've looked disjointed and a mess.

Some of the players over the course of the season have shown that maybe they are not quite what a lot of us believe them to be. So there is still plenty of potential there, but plenty of work to be done.

Would love to see a solid number 6 come in, another left back to keep Robertson on his toes. Would take a number 9 if salah leaves and have nunez playing out wide where to be honest he looks more dangerous. Jota unfortunately can't keep fit all season.

I wish that was all was needed.

27 Apr 2024 18:44:28
Kudus was decent against us today I think that lad is still improving and could be top drawer
Inacio £54m Kudus £70m and a decent RB and we would be a better team I think next season.
TAA into midfield and surely Slot would be looking at a title challenging team again.

 1

27 Apr 2024 20:13:02
Kudos for £70m you have got to be joking me, he did next to nothing today and is nowhere near that kind of valuation although I’m sure West Ham would take your hand off with that offer.

 2

27 Apr 2024 20:33:16
TAA into midfield would not improve our midfield one iota.

 1

27 Apr 2024 21:02:13
He'd just be another midfielder that can't defend or track back. Best passer in the team and capable of scoring from distance, mind.

I have to say this reguarding klopp. Forget the results atm, when this man manages his last game we're going to feel it. I don't really care about the performances or results now. Didn't even watch the game today because it's dwindling out. However he's been an incredible manager and man for this magnificent football club. His personality was massive and there will be tears when the final whistle blows. The memories will be replayed and we will all feel the blow of it. Klopps been magnificent and was the perfect and dream appointment at the time. We suffered over a decade of mediocrity and he finally won us thr title. It's unfortunate we couldn't win another one with him and with the crowd but it is what it is. We have a very good squad and hopefully continue to buy well. The clubs in a very good place so let's try abd remain positive especially seeing this great man out and welcoming in someone that wants the job.

27 Apr 2024 19:45:19
So we must listen to your take on things when you couldn't be bothered to even watch the match? that's like taking advice on which is the best steakhouse from someone that is vegetarian.

27 Apr 2024 20:16:41
And why bother commenting on a post that you didn't bother to read, Kloppoutnow? Nice name, btw.
If you'd read it, you'd know that it was about Klopp's tenure not today's game.
The tenure you want to cut short by a few weeks after nine years.

"If I speak today, there will be fire" - Salah

I wonder if this is just about being benched today or if this is a reflection of a rift in the dressing room.

 2

27 Apr 2024 15:36:45
Wasn't there some arguments on the touchline between klopp and Salah. I missed what happened due to children being naughty.

 1

27 Apr 2024 16:21:13
Who cares, he's always been a prima donna. Legend and prob gets in a LFC best 11 on performances but there's something dislikeable about the fella. He doesn't come across like he has the love and heart for LFC like Klopp does. Loves himself a bit too much for my liking and if Ed02 is right he's been itching to leave for years. Thanks for the goals Mo but I won't miss him.

 5

27 Apr 2024 16:31:01
100% behind Salah here, for such an easy going guy to have that reaction there is something seriously wrong at the club especially the way things are going at moment.

Hate to see Klopp reign ending like this, the club should have insisted he goes when he made it clear he wanted out.

 5

27 Apr 2024 17:08:23
Lol to the replies. How about goodbye to both and peace be with them. Klopps a goner and I think it's salahs time to move on. Hopefully we get a decent fee and buy a top drawer attacker.

 6

27 Apr 2024 17:15:30
SpecialK, I'm with you in being a supporter of Salah, but you don't do that to your Manager in plain public view. There's the dressing room for that. Salah was gesturing with both arms at Klopp and had to be pushed aside by Nunez. That is unacceptable behaviour. Absolutely unacceptable. Klopp has stayed with Salah through thick and thin; made him the top player he has been. Now that it is time to part ways (everything in life has an expiry date), this is how you show your level of respect for the man who has propelled you to great heights in your profession?

Am I turning on Salah because, in all likelihood, he will leave this summer? Absolutely not. For me it's more a matter of how you leave the club. You leave with class and dignity and make sure others around you don't lose their dignity also; especially considering you are the highest paid player at the club by a mile. Not by being petulant on the field and then declaring to the media that "there will be fire if I open my mouth".

27 Apr 2024 17:32:12
Following on from games and players after match comments there has definitely been friction about "the forwards" not converting chances and rightly so. To be honest Salah was poor last season and worse this season, 17 prem goals (inc 5 pens? ) from 91 shots is not good music. Whomever made the decision to not sell him for a big bag of Saudi cash has a question to answer. Nunez shoots like a scared rabbit, there is a player in there somewhere for sure. Diaz is a creator and Jota a finisher. Gakpo, should be playing for Wrexham. or maybe the argument was about how long it took Mo to get ready and Klopp saying that that goal was avoidable if the changes had been made more timely. But the end result is the same, someone on the coaching team needs to be responsible for shouting "your going the wrong way! " We play with a front line of 6 David Batty's (no offence, he was good at what he did! ) . I am so happy that I have a watch and forget policy. moving onto the next 99 minutes. Peace.

27 Apr 2024 17:37:14
Its about time someone stood up to klopp, all these players are getting destroyed in the media due to klopps tactics but he needs to be protected? He is basically leaving them all exposed and literally setting them up to fail but just because he is a loveable guy then he needs to be free from retaliation?

Our performances and results are hard to take as it is. But to see Salah and Klopp arguing on the touchline is just sad. I just knew there were rifts within the squad as it’s been showing for some time now.

Right or wrong, Salah doesn’t just react like that unless something has been festering or going on behind the scenes. In fact, Salah even doubled down and said to the press on the way out and I quote, “If I speak today there will be fire”. So that confirms there is disharmony within the squad. And Salah might well be right in how he feels, but no matter what you do that behind closed doors, not in plain sight for the world to see.

What a sad ending to Klopp’s tenure. I will choose to remember the Klopp I knew and not this unrecognisable version of him.

 5

27 Apr 2024 17:41:35
I wouldn’t mind him having a go if he was playing some outstanding football.

Mo has been gash for weeks and really should just pipe down and work on his own game.

Legend or not (he 100% is a club icon) there is a time and a place. The sideline stuff was petulant but the “fire” comments to reporters are just embarrassing.

 6

27 Apr 2024 18:19:57
Does it really matter?

We're not going to win the league, we're not going to drop out of the CL places, and at least one, if not both of them will be gone in the summer.

 1

27 Apr 2024 18:23:41
His comment sounds a lot worse on paper than it does in the video, even though he shouldn't have said it. But with the wheels coming off the season emotions are running high. Salah has been a great professional and we should all move on. Let the media run the story into the ground if they wish.

 1

27 Apr 2024 18:35:49
People always look for something deeper.

I just see two uber competitive people extremely frustrated at what has transpired on the pitch at the crunch end of the season. That frustration as boiled over and will be quickly forgotten no doubt.

 1

27 Apr 2024 18:45:39
You’re a professional footballer.
You’re an employee of the club.

You’re being fabulously remunerated.
Do your job, do your talking on the pitch.
Stop being a cry baby.

Klopp is the manager, show some respect Salah, he’s your boss. Klopp should have changed his subs and left Salah on the bench.

Respect to Darwin Nunez. I liked that. He intervened and stopped it further escalating.

Good team mate, good professional. Well done son.

27 Apr 2024 18:58:33
Good god the bs on here, Salah’s a prima Donna, Klopp’s a goner…. what the actual f. k is wrong with you all. Best manager of the last 20 years and a player who is, at-the very least, in the conversation for the best player of the last 10 years and you can’t wait to be rid of them. Madness, this player and coach are part of our modern halcyon days, you will miss them when they are gone. Enjoy them whilst they are here, so they fell out today, so what, passion is what we want isn’t it?

 2

27 Apr 2024 19:23:21
Everyone is hurting. The boss, the players and the fans. Was always going to be difficult to keep emotions in check after announcing his departure in mid-season.

 0

27 Apr 2024 19:39:50
I’ve just seen the clip where he says it. Personally I’d interpret that he doesn’t want to speak as it’ll cause a media storm, ironically By saying what he said he caused a media storm.

 0

27 Apr 2024 19:50:53
Nothing to do with it. Klopp expects a handshake and a hug before subs go on the pitch. Shows they are all in it together. Salah couldn’t be bothered to do either as he has so little self awareness of how bad he has been playing, he prob still thinks he should be starting. Klopp called him out for it and Salah spat his dummy out. The fire is entirely on Selfish Salah.

 1

27 Apr 2024 19:52:57
Anyone stopped to think maybe the reason why salah is playing so poor is due to how he is being coached and since he is not happy it translates onto the pitch?

 1

27 Apr 2024 21:29:11
Kloppoutnow (some name by the way) klopp made these players what they are today, name me a player who left us under klopp whos became better?

 0

27 Apr 2024 14:31:19
Same crap different day. Every Klopp team since he managed us has had a meltdown. Always at the wrong time. Just look up the stats. Even the year we won the title.

 6

27 Apr 2024 17:26:50
Ah yes “every Klopp team”, including of course that famous meltdown of 18/ 19 where we rather embarrassingly won the last nine games in a row to finish second on 97 points and then had the audacity to follow that embarrassment by winning the champions league. Complete bottle jobs.

 4

27 Apr 2024 18:20:27
Klopp's the worst manager we've ever had clearly. Should've left Bodger in charge or brought back Roy Hodgson.

 3

27 Apr 2024 18:54:11
Quite funny seeing Klopp telling Salah as he’s coming on to try and kick the ball and Mo losing his head. A sad ending to both of their careers.

 0

27 Apr 2024 20:20:09
It's neither sad nor an ending to both of their careers 😂.

Great review ed1 have to say Klopp should
Of gone 2 years ago.

27 Apr 2024 12:12:05
I wonder after Klopp has left and is sitting somewhere quiet, reflecting on his time at Liverpool will he leap from his seat and shout „WAS ZUM TEUFEL HABE ICH GEMACHT, ALS ICH LIJNDERS ZUGEHORT HABE?! “ before he slumps back down in tears.
(what was I doing listening to Lijnders?! )

 3

27 Apr 2024 12:37:14
What has Lijnders said to Klopp, polecat?
A quick Google about his Lijnders' tactics and I found this from 2023:

'We want to play with a lot of offensive aggression. You use that moment to attack again, because many times the opposition in this moment is not well organised. You want to play in the opposition half and stay there as long as possible, because it gives our front three the chance to express more often. '

It doesn't sound like someone wanting to play turgid football.

 1

27 Apr 2024 13:00:12
Are you Ljinders? To think he isn't part of the problem is plain weird.

 3

27 Apr 2024 13:14:10
Rigsby stop being an eye rolling contrarian.

Lijnders was taking credit for this inversted sh@te and talking about how he’d said to Klopp he was so confident it would work he’d bet his job on it.

We’ve just tried to copy was city do but a b&m bargains version of it.

 7

27 Apr 2024 13:30:03
I'm not defending Lijnders; I'm asking what he said to Klopp.
Of course he's part of the problem because he's one of Klopp's assistants on the management team.
He's one of numerous reasons we are not as successful or playing as well as we have in the past. He's not the only reason and he doesn't have the overall say on the team and tactics, does he?
I don't know the workings of the management side and I'm asking what Lijnders said or did that made us stop playing heavy metal or high intensity football in the past two seasons?

 1

27 Apr 2024 13:39:23
From a podcast he done. With the ball, Liverpool are now closer to a 3-4-3, with Alexander-Arnold playing alongside the defensive midfielder and Andy Robertson becoming a centre-back.

There remain flaws to the approach, as has been seen throughout pre-season and these early weeks of the new campaign, but its virtues were on show in an unbeaten end to 2022/ 23.

Speaking on the Training Ground Guru podcast, Lijnders revealed that it was his plan to change setup – and that he bet his salary on Alexander-Arnold’s role paying off!

 1

27 Apr 2024 14:51:03
Thanks, Endo3 but that's not enough to put everything on Lijnders and it doesn't say he is telling Klopp to play boring, turgid football.
I'm not a fan of the right back drifting into midfield but the reasons we are not as good as were are far more wide reaching. The most obvious one for me is that we don't have the same players and the current ones are not of the same quality.
We have had the most shots of any team across the five top leagues in Europe. The conversion rate shows a lack of quality not attacking intent. We are also weaker defensively.
That said, Lijnders doesn't get a free pass as he is one of Klopp's assistants. They all have to take some responsibility for the squad rebuild and team selections and tactics.

 1

27 Apr 2024 15:55:12
He basically says it was him. Look read what you want but that's from the horses mouth. You're just seeing what you want to see.

 1

27 Apr 2024 16:01:08
We looked much more sound defensively with Gomez at left back and Bradley at right back.

 2

27 Apr 2024 16:06:41
Before today’s game we had circa 80 more shots than the next team in Europe (Man City) . That tells me that the team is creating plenty of chances and giving the offensive players plenty of opportunity to score the goals required. The football isn’t as turgid as some would make out.

 2

{Ed002's Note - Actually it means the players know where the stands are.}

 4

27 Apr 2024 16:10:51
Rigsby, it is not Endo3 or Shaq Attack putting all this on Lijnders. It is Lijnders that is doing a bang up job of doing that all by his damn self, based on the information out there and the quotes you have posted. Just my take.

 0

27 Apr 2024 16:40:54
He basically says what was him?
His plan to change the set up to play with an inverted full back?
Ok but is that the sole reason for us not being the same team and for us playing slow, boring football?
He had a plan- with flaws- but that doesn't mean it has to carried out.
Klopp or another assistant could have vetoed it.
Trent as an inverted full back was our most creative player against Everton and we could have scored three in the first half if the front three were in any sort of form.
I don't like the system when so many of the rest of the team don't like a challenge but it's about the best passer in the team having more influence on the game.
Maybe if the rest of the team had more influence on games we wouldn't have to tell the right back to play in midfield. We rebuilt the midfield so why didn't we buy a player to do what he's asked to do and let him stay at right back?

 0

27 Apr 2024 16:47:46
I've posted one quote by Lijnders, Oli.
He talks about offensive aggression, playing in the opposition half for as long as possible and giving the front three the chance to express more often.
How on earth is he putting the playing of turgid football on himself?

 0

27 Apr 2024 16:55:43
Linders book shocked me at the time and it still does. Leave that for when you've left, if at all. I'd have no interest in reading his book he's an assistant coach .

I've been thinking for a bit now that maybe all is not right in the camp but of course I have no idea. But what I do know is that it's been an amazing ride and I'm looking forward to the next era. King is dead sort of thing. at this point one more win, let's get it next week at home to Spurs and get top 4 in the bag.

As for players, I don't care who stays, who goes and who comes in. Just want players who want to be here. Trusting Slot and the club to get it right. Next season will be very challenging to make the top 4 and for me that and the 1/ 4s of the CL will be a great transition season.

 1

27 Apr 2024 17:37:56
not sure that the coaching has been good enough lately, we can't defend a simple corner, we had no midfield against Everton, and no attackers good enough today,
looks like some staff and players are looking forward to the beach, no wonder Salah had a bit of a melt down, even tho Mo has prob got his transfer sorted for next season .

 0

27 Apr 2024 18:18:29
lol @ Ed002.

27 Apr 2024 10:09:28
Let's hope for a win today, I can't watch it but hope we can get them three points, we need them! I didn't realise we were away today but fingers crossed we can issue a statement and get back at it. I still believe, was a bit frustrated after the Everton game but anything is possible, we can still do this just have to step it up a notch or 2 :)

Can you imagine if we won the league this season after the last month? it'd be incredible. We're more than capable but I just don't like having to rely on other teams dropping points, that's what concerns me now.

Come on Liverpool. Believe.

 4

27 Apr 2024 10:56:56
Before we look at results and titles etc. I think the performances have to be upped and the attitude has to be improved.
The players have to play for the boss, and Jurgan has to find the energy not to go out like this.

I don’t want us to go out on a whimper like this in his final few games. Show some fight.

 4

27 Apr 2024 10:58:48
Salah my friend, turning it a notch or two isn't going to be enough. At least x5 improvement from all the team + Jürgen is needed.
I hope you have a joyous day and hopefully you can catch the highlights later.

 1

27 Apr 2024 11:08:45
I don't even mind if we lose, so long as they actually pretend that they give a damn, which in itself isn't great but certainly a step up from the last few weeks.

 0

27 Apr 2024 11:08:46
Normally if I fall asleep we win so hope I’m tired.

 0

27 Apr 2024 11:11:38
Love your positivity Salah but the teams above us won’t lose 2 games.

 3

27 Apr 2024 11:20:33
I have a feeling that with the pressure now off (no matter what some might think) this team is going to pummel an opponent before the season ends, and there are two likley victims, the Hammers or Wolves or maybe both.

If not then the team are on the beach.

 0

27 Apr 2024 12:18:14
Wasn't going to watch the match today . but can't help myself . im now in a bar on holiday waiting for the kick off . hope we win or there might be another kick off around 3 bells ha.

 0

27 Apr 2024 13:27:43
We can no longer defend and can't score for rubbish. So much for mentality monsters and inspiration. Pathetic is a good word.

 0

27 Apr 2024 13:44:02
Right now I can only see we're losing, bloody hell come on. I tried being positive but for ****SAKE Liverpool sort it out. It s a must win game, can't be losing this.

 3

27 Apr 2024 16:12:03
Salah, it was tough for me to get fired up for the game and really, it is becoming really tough to watch us play right now.
