Hi Ed,
Just to distract from all the doom and gloom of yesterday's game.
What is it about a long throw that defenders struggle so much with? Quite hilarious to see the panic on professionals faces as Brentford set up to take a throw in. Is it like the trajectory is unpredictable or what?
Im all for it, football has been more enjoyable now that Pep's pass you to death philosophy is starting to wain.
{Ed001's Note - it is flatter trajectory, so more difficult to defend as you can't judge as easily when it is going to be low enough for you to head it. When the ball goes up and down you can read it, but flat, long throws have no arc to read.}

Ah cheers man. I did think the flatness of it was something to do with it.
I guess when you can throw it straight towards goal as well it makes it different from a cross or corner as well.
{Ed001's Note - yep, that is a very good point.}

If you can't beat them, join them is one solution and fight fire with fire also! have one of your own player/ players to copy it?
Also Joe Gomez took a similar long throw at the Kop end versus Southampton on Tuesday night, another good reason for bringing him on for CON-ate yesterday, though an excuse was not needed! wouldn't it be a lot better if we had our own long throw specialist or two, through players who are more certain to play in the first eleven than rely on squad players.
Newcastle did the same for one goal, so it's nothing new this season, that will be copied for every prem team we now face in this season.
VAR did us again yesterday, Arne was right their first goal from a corner, should have been our goal kick. I thought that was where VAR was supposed to check for, no corner no goal against us. I have no objections to being beat by a better team on the day, but please VAR make that defeat Fair and Square ( won honestly without cheating)
Does anyone know the dates for the AFCON tournament? I love watching it when MO is playing!

Rory Delap's long throws were flat for a reason.
{Ed001's Note - because he was an excellent javelin thrower in his youth.}

Didn't we have a throw in coach that people laughed at?
A good long throw in is a good weapon to have in the armory.

Flash. yes we did. was it early Klopp era?
{Ed001's Note - he was there for years, but, for some unknown reason, they stopped using him for long throws and instead how to keep possession from throws.}

Ed 01.can you recall who recruited him and when? It's bugging me now. i think Gomez was highlighted with his throw around that time?
{Ed001's Note - Klopp. Not sure when.}
