Ed, controversial question and opening myself up for criticism here lol. But, do u think the lack of physicality is by design with Slot being so focused on set pieces? So the word is "don't give away unnecessary free kicks" hence the chances of conceding from set pieces in theory goes down? It honestly wouldn't surprise me such is the apparent naivety of this coach.

{Ed001's Note - no, he just comes from a background of technicality over physicality.}

I think Slot is starting to look reactive and steps behind instead of being proactive and a couple of steps ahead of his competition. For me that's what an elite coach would be doing: identifying what's wrong and ways to fix it.

There were signs after the Villa and RM games that "ok he's getting it and reverting back to what worked" last season, but now very much back to type.

Stubborn comes to mind but now I would argue naive arrogance has started to creep in with his reluctance to change.

I think that Slot’s idea that you have to sacrifice technicality for physicality is ridiculous, look at Barca, they were a very very technical but always had a hard B’stard as the foundation of the team, whether it was Toure, Seydou Keita or Busquets, or Man City under Guardiola, was Fernandinho or Rodri. Slot is delusional if he thinks the two are mutually exclusive.

Ed,
How come it worked last season and it has not this season? Has he changed tactics or is it that teams have figured how to play us? Some issues like Gravenberch and Gapko shying away from challenging against Forest, cannot be all down to Slot.

Could it be that the players have now stopped responding to him the way the team did to Hodgson back in the day?

{Ed001's Note - it didn't work last season, what worked was reverting to high intensity each time.}
