We could buy a number 6 or some new defenders but it wouldn't help us because the issue is tactical.
Slot tells his entire midfield to overload the opposition box, this is why grav isn't sitting like he's supposed to. Any 6 we sign will get asked to do the same thing and we'll see the same ball over the top from deep into an empty midfield.
One of two things needs to happen -
1 slot needs to realise his system doesn't work in the prem and stop overloading so much
Or
2. The club needs to realise slot won't change his system that doesn't work in the prem and change managers
Incidentally it's the exact same tactical flaw that ten hag used to have. Maybe it's a Dutch thing?

8 defeats in 11 games in all competitions. We've not played well consistently since February.
It's like Slot took over, reaped the rewards of a well coached and well structured team, and gradually moved us backwards in terms of coaching, fitness and tactics.
9 months of absolute dross is usually enough for anyone to get the bullet. Rodgers got chucked about 10 games into a season for much less abject performances than what we're seeing.

Slot clearly has credit in the bank for that, it must be running out though as someone mentioned already you could see it in his face and eyes. Also I think it's a great point by Ed1 I think, he was a hand selected pick so it's a wound to the ego of those who appointed him if they have to pull the trigger.
Me personally, I have no idea who I would want to replace him anyway, but we can't really allow this to continue. If he has lost the players as some suggest then he should go now.

If the assistants are poor, tactical analysis is poor, integration of new players is poor and performances are dross it ultimately is the managers responsibility, regardless of whether he is directly involved. It's time Togo.

The modern day coaches seem obsessed with their philosophies and personal brand of football, get jobs off the back of it, but often turn out to be pretty inflexible. Apparently that was one of the reasons why we didn’t go with Amorim, and Arne was thought to be more pragmatic.
We’re not seeing it from Arne though at the moment, whereas last season he probably didn’t play a style he fully believed in. They all stick to their beliefs, sometimes regardless of results, and they’re all different nationalities.
I can understand that they have a preferred way of playing, and it’s easier for them to implement something they believe in and are familiar with, but if it’s not working they need to adapt or change or need to be changed. Let’s see if Arne can, you’d think that would be preferable to losing your job.
