Ed001, do you think there is a possibility where we abandon playing out and out touchline hugging wingers and move to a back 4 with a midfield diamond and 2 strikers?
Or possibly 4-2-3-1 with the wider of the 3 behind the striker playing more like inside forwards?
{Ed001's Note - it is entirely possible, it was certainly given a run out in Milan.}

I think with th signings we have made and players that have left, we are better suited to playing without wingers.

I think it will be deployed based on the opponent and it could be particularly good if we get the Bournemouth version of Kerkez (more and more flashes of late) and a Madrid facing Bradley onto the pitch when we play it. The system calls for very athletic wing backs, or else you end up being unable to stretch the opponents defensive line, and it becomes almost trivial for them to deny you the spaces you want.
Once it clicks between Ekitike, Isak and Wirtz I think we will be back to scoring for fun. There are more signs of it lately. The only thing which makes me think the 4-2-3-1 will remain is the clear interest in Semenyo, although perhaps he could do a job in rotating with either of those 3.

I'd agree with that todd at present time anyway.

Can count out signing Semenyo so. For what its worth i think were only playing this system now because we havnt got Salah r Gakpo or a already mentioned Semenyo available.
