Sky saying United 'Firmly' in for Semenyo now along with City
How likely is it he picks us over them, assuming the £65m release clause it met by all 3 teams?

16 Dec 2025 13:02:32
Hes very much a Pep type player. I think he ends up at City.

16 Dec 2025 13:39:58
Yep - give him a season with Pep and he’ll no longer be able to run at a defender or take a player on again -
Couldn’t think of a worse move for him tbh.

16 Dec 2025 13:59:36
Well that's not entirely true Bristol, doku hasn't done too badly doing the job of running at defenders this year.

16 Dec 2025 14:22:18
City want him in the summer and we want him in January so I think he chooses us tbh, plus there is the Hughes link. I’m sure the ITKs said it was fairly well advanced too.

16 Dec 2025 14:26:29
True PB but it’s only this season that Doku has come into this sort of form -
Perhaps I’m basing my opinion on watching Grealish get stifled at city when he was a player who was best taking a defender on and gradually that was coaxed out of his game?

I think he’ll (Semenyo ) will have a better chance to flourish at Liverpool than City but that might be me living in the hope he’ll still chose us?

16 Dec 2025 17:31:57
I’m not to worried, give most fans the choice last season to sign isak or ekitike they be 99% isak and look how that’s turned out so far. I’m sure there will be other options.

He won't like the system at Utd. City have to sell first and wanted to wait until the summer when he's cheaper. Spurs want him but their Spurs and with us the system is similar and he admires our captain. He always plays on the left and occasionally on the right so for me he's A field bound.

16 Dec 2025 18:29:45
Playing on the left with Kerkez could also help swing it. If he has a want for Champions lge ball i wouldn't be going near Utd.

It looks like with the players we have we don’t suit playing with wingers. Would semenyo be a good signing? It seems like this squad is built around strikers and packing out midfield, with fbs providing width. If that is the direction we’re going I would rather see us sign an attacking fb or dominant dm.

17 Dec 2025 12:13:49
Packing out midfield? We haven’t had a midfield for most of the season.

According to the last Eds' podcast, Semenyo is of great interest to us still and we have a good chance of getting him, per the information shared.

Also and I read this somewhere so hopefully the Ed's can correct me. I read that B'mouth have to sell in Jan. cos they owe Bristol City a cut of the fee hence, the 65m release clause.

Most importantly if clubs want him in the summer, the fee goes down to 45m, which reduces how much B'mouth will get after Bristol City get their (also reduced) cut.

So the best thing for B'mouth (and Bristol) financially, is to sell this Jan. while the best thing for LFC is to well, sign him this Jan., too.

Please, can the Ed's chime in on this?

{Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}
