I love Ali, he's probably the best keeper I've ever seen play for Liverpool, a toss of a coin between him and the Great Ray Celmence, but I've never known a keeper with so many injuries, especially hamstring. I would understand if it was a shoulder or an elbow but hamstrings usually get damaged with explosive sprinting which keepers rarely do , unless coming off their line to stop a 1v1 but Ali was practically stood still to make a save. I wish him a speedy recovery but looking foward to seeing Mash in goal. Has to be the best back up in the league.
{Ed025's Note - have we really seen enough of him to declare him the best back up in the league KK?..

I think there is an increase in injuries for keepers across the board. They stand around for the majority of the game and then might have to sprint. It can't be good for the muscles to need to be 100% instantly and then drop straight back to nothing.
{Ed001's Note - I have said that a lot, the modern game requires them to kick more as well, which can also be a strain after being stood around. Especially once over 30. The amount of ex-pros that have told me stories about how they used to go out and smash the ball long before a match without warm up when they were young and then had to warm up first once they hit their late-20s or they would get injured. They probably need to look at goalkeeper training and alter it as they age, with regards to the modern game. Diving about making saves is not even half their game any more.}

He's better than Short Arms Ed.
{Ed025's Note - come on Flash thats just a guess mate, Jordan is a proven keeper and England,s No 1 for a long time now, Marmalade has done nothing yet so we will have to take your word for that..
03 Oct 2025 09:47:08
Ed25, I know I haven't. Let's give Marma a chance to play the position (chances he will be getting now, for sure) and let us judge from there.
{Ed025's Note - that makes sense to me Oli..
03 Oct 2025 12:12:38
The fact that he's England's no1 says more about the dearth of decent young English keepers than it does about his elite ability Ed.
He's pretty good at reflex based shot stopping but the rest of his game is sadly lacking. Provided Marma doesn't have a "Taibi moment" early doors I suspect that during Ali's absence he'll settle in and prove himself to be that kind of keeper that Short Arms can only dream of being.
{Ed025's Note - say what you want about Pickers Flash but his record speaks for itself mate, yes he has flaws but what keeper doesn,t?, you seem to be pinning your hopes on someone who is unproven with apparently a worse kicking game than Douglas Bader....lets just see how that turns out my friend..

Mama's played 1 competitive game for us so far and in my opinion he was man of the match. He didn't put a foot wrong when he came off the bench the other night either.
I think I'll reserve judgment on whether he can play well with his feet, but he looks no worse than Alisson.
03 Oct 2025 12:42:54
I’ll reserve judgement on Marma but Pickford a proven keeper? Have you ever watched him Ed25?
He’s proven to be rash, idiotic and overly aggressive I’ll give you that but as a keeper he’s proved nothing.
{Ed025's Note - hes proved that hes the best English keeper without doubt Robbo, yes he has his faults but hes nowhere near as bad as you make out mate..
03 Oct 2025 12:54:12
Are you basing Pickford’s record on his PL carrier @25? Genuine question, you’ve been flirting with relegation for the past few years, you’ve won nothing in his time at Everton and he hasn’t won anything playing for England. When you say his ‘record speaks for itself’ what are you talking about?
{Ed025's Note - we have flirted with relegation WDW and one of the main reasons we have not gone down is Pickford mate, he has had a bad press especially from your lot who cant get past his mistimed tackle on VVD, there are a hell of a lot worse keepers out there imo mate..
03 Oct 2025 13:24:48
Pickfords been proven to be a bang average keeper I’d say, not even being bias. I get why Everton fans like him, he’s a character, but not a great keeper by any stretch sorry.
{Ed025's Note - not perfect but better than most i would say Mikey..

The best in England isn't hard when the only competition is Pope, Henderson and Darlow.
03 Oct 2025 13:51:37
I think Henderson is a better keeper.

Same thing with weightlifting, Ed. In your early 20s you can start lifting with a few warmup sets. Nowadays I wouldn’t dream of deadlifting or squatting without at least 15 minutes of warming up the hamstrings beforehand. Even small hamstring tears stop you doing the compound lifts for 2-3 months.
03 Oct 2025 18:25:55
I'm just happy someone else is calling him Marmalade Ed025!
{Ed025's Note - I just peel them off Westwood. And I heard he’s a bit jammy as well mate.. ?
04 Oct 2025 10:27:47
When your go to statement is"but he's the best English goalie"you know your clutching at Straws. Like saying someone is Man Utds best player, not exactly hard is it.
03 Oct 2025 22:34:45
Again, @25, do you think Pickford came out of the VVD incident either as a football player or a person with any credit whatsoever?
I appreciate you know your footy and you have a cracking sense of humour and you tell it like you see it but I really do think you have a blind spot for Pickford.
{Ed025's Note - look WDW it was clumsy mate without being malicious. But you need to get over it now and give pickers the respect he deserves..
