I paused last night and didn’t post because I was half in shock at that performance but to also give it time to process this sh** show.
Given the pressure the manager is under and all the scrutiny the squad is getting I fully expected us to go out for the late kick off under the lights at Anfield and put them under some serious pressure. What we got was a tepid, sideways, backwards low tempo masterclass on how to kill momentum. Make no mistake we were fully controlled and dominated by a promoted side at home. Only for a last ditch stop from Chiesa we would and should have been beaten! This result should not be allowed to paper over any cracks. Our manager is starting to sound like ETH where he rewrites the narrative of the game when we all have eyes and can see the problems! The manager needs to go, honestly the press in the 1st half is enough to get any manager the sack, absolutely embarrassing, personally I don’t think there is a fitness issue or mobility issue there is a space issue, the gap from front to back is way to much, defence is dropping off, attackers pushing up and our midfield in no mans land isolated so we are never close enough to make an effective tackle. Compound all this with crazy subs, square pegs in round holes and a team that are clearly after downing tools and all u can say is the writing is on the walls, only question is when do the exec team shoot the bullet?

Dow-ney
Agreed ??
What does our alleged manager say after the match.? "There were positives. "
The only positive can be that Slot goes ASAP.

How can a team of so called elite management get it so wrong nearly every game. They (and I say they because it’s not just Slot) come up with those horrendous tactics last night. We are at home to a newly promoted team and got done.
We were so lucky that chiesa hasn’t down tools otherwise it would have been another loss. Slots responds” we were unlucky “ grow some balls and sack them, this includes the fitness coach!

Downey, I was going to post the exact same thing. Like you, I've had it up to my eyeballs with this wretched system. It is literally sucking the life out of me. I watched that game and it reminded me of BR's pathetic "pass, pass, pass and then, "recycle possession" and then, rinse then, repeat of 14/ 15.
Seriously, how can you try to break down a team without making them think?
a) How can you try to beat the opposition with no incisive passing hence, making them commit?
b) How can you play such a slow, lethargic system where the only thing we are good that is "making sure we do NOT lose the ball"?
Had Sunderland won that game (which they should have), it would have been so fitting. The only thing better than that was that it was Chiesa who (not for the first time) saved his blushes from abject humiliation, as if the battering from PSV didn't already do that.
Let's be clear: Chiesa embarrassed Slot for the whole world to see and I loved it cos he has treated this true gent like floor rag all season. There's a reason a whole stadium sings his name when his name is announced or when he goes to warm up.
Now you say this reminds you of Ten Hag at Utd and I get it. For me, this reminds me of BR circa 14/ 15 where he knew his system was useless BUT cos his ego won't make him change, he kept playing it just to prove a point that he was competent whereas he was the Emperor with NO clothes.
Hence from last night on, I am officially checked out. This season is a write off cos to me, Slot will NOT change how we play. He seems to be out to prove us all wrong rather than do what is best for the team and make us a competitive team, something we all know we can be as shown this season already vs Villa and RM.
Therefore, he is only out for himself and once that happens, a manager loses my support and once that happens, Get Out Of My Club.
Thankfully as I will never want my team to lose so the manager should go, the club are assessing their options so at least, we know they are not fools and can see what we all see so Im fine with that.
All about the vibes for me now. We win? Great. We don't win? Such is life.
Oh, and one last thing. Good luck at Elland Road come Sun., Arne. If you think Leeds can't embarrass you like they did Chelsea then, you are off your meds.

It is a half arse press.
Isak and Wirtz doing a lot of running being played around like monkey in sunderland training session with 1/ 3 of Anfield pitch with no one backing them up.
Clearly the midfield and defence being asked to drop back, either afraid that Sunderland will players through us or play over us.
Unbelievable what I’m watching.

It’s funny you mention it with the press. Graeme Le Saux said it during the match last on Peacocks Broadcast. Flat out said LFC is all about pressure and making teams uncomfortable when visiting Anfield yet this team has completely changed from last year.
There’s no sustained press, they look disjointed and slow to everything, you wouldn’t believe they were the same team from last year. Slot needs to go back to basics from last year. He further said how can they not see the difference from last year.

BERGENRED, I have no idea why people seem shocked that we aren't pressing anymore. IMO, the last time (s) we had a full press in a game was against Villa and RM, games where ironically, we played the system that won us the title last season. Ain't seen a full press since.
Also, I disagree with Le Saux (awesome guy and a good pundit), too) . Slot does see the diff. from last season. The issue here is that he NO longer wants to play that way anymore except when forced to do so like Villa and RM.
I asked Ed01 this specific question and he confirmed it. Per Ed01 indeed, this slow, regressive "sucking the life out of me" type footie is THE way Slot really wants to play and come hell or high water (regardless of the humiliations we keep getting), he is sticking with it, as shown last season. So we are now being subjected to wretched footie with the batterings that come with it just so he can prove a point? Nah, ain't having it.
Like I said in my post, Slot is trying to prove those who question his tactics wrong. Trying to say that only he and his bros. in the staff know best and the rest of us who question him are all fools who don't know what they are seeing. Many managers have done this so Slot is not a new phenomenon here.
So for me, the guy can flex his ego and all that BUT not at the expense of my club. Go do that elsewhere, mate. That's all Im saying, respectfully.
