Going back to what MK said in an earlier post I don’t see anything wrong in opinions that want Slot out OR at this moment in time supporting Slot. It just relays different peoples hopes and fears of how the season will pan out . It’s also what makes the sites a good read at all times!

For me I’m looking at the positives - decent results, a slight upturn in form and performance, Hugo’s great form, Wirtz looking like the class player we know he’ll become and some players getting a bit of form back .

Trophies and league tables aren’t won in December and with a huge amount to play for from now on in that still means City could have a dip, Villa have a Dip and Arsenal have a dip as they don’t cope well under the pressure that going for 4 trophies will bring .

My fears are even with positive results lately this unconvincing way we manage games in winning positions and the lack of on field leadership ( a collective leadership ) the lack of pace and obvious late game fitness leaves me thinking we’re only another bad result from fragile confidence dipping again and a run of poor results which finishes our season .

Anyway all have a good Xmas - onwards and upwards and thanks to all the Ed’s for their patience!

It’s the hyperbole from the ones who want him out that does my head in.
Calling him - “moronic” and “not fit for purpose”

You can dislike his tactics, his management, his style of play that’s all fair comment.

It’s not fair comment to call him “moronic” and no-one on here is qualified to decide if he is “fit for purpose”.

Personally, I don’t enjoy the football at the moment. That doesn’t mean I want a change of manager.
I don’t believe any manager would be achieving anything different. In some respects Slot is a victim of his first season success.
We’ve lost a long serving manager whose main players -like other parts of the squad -have become old.

We should not be expecting the team to play like peak Klopp. That’s unrealistic. The money spent is investment, it’s not a quick fix. I don’t think any manager working today would be a quick fix, including Klopp and Alonso.

The squad is resetting. Some of the new players are young, some are naive to the premier league.

It’s going to take time. Changing managers will make it take longer.

Yep agree Ron

Like I said I’ve no issue with any view on him unless it becomes a personal insult - he’s managing an iconic club at a level non of us can imagine -
We’re never and have never gone out game after game and thrashed teams 3 and 4 - City and Arsenal get results in a huge amount of games winning ugly and hanging on, we don’t see that picture as rightly so we’re only about “us” but the amount of times per league season a team will click is no more then half a dozen times if that does happen?

My fear is we’re far from out of the woods from a form and performance aspect but at the same time I do see certain areas of improvement but the big game experienced heads need to assert more control in games during the tough few months coming up .

It’s crucial we get CL qualification this season - I’ll settle at that.

Rom i agree the personal insults are not a good look . I don't think anyone thought he'd be playing like Klopp . last season he made us play less expansive but the results came through n we coasted to a well deserved title win . this year we have played garbage most of this season .

we get out run by most teams, bullied and don't win the 2nd ball and that's down to Slot n his coaches . he played players out of position n dropped Ekitike when he was on fire at the start. my hope this year n its a big hope is that we can get top 4 n have a good run in the cups .

Personal opinion but Regardless of what Slot does this season or moving forward he’s earned massive respect and legend status for last season alone.

Rafa isn’t a favourite of mine and I used to find his football boring but the guy is a legend for bringing us big years.

Slot deserves the criticism he’s getting for on field performances but he doesn’t deserve stick at a personal level.

Nice one Ron, that was the point i was trying to make earlier ?.

Ears not bloody years.

Great post @JK, totally agree with everything you said,

It’s all a bit two faced for me. I’m not into personal attacks it’s not really my style ( unless you count calling someone crap “macca”) it’s ok to want him to turn it around but there is nothing to turn, this is his style. What I find two faced is it’s so easy to put the blame on players in order to deflect from slots I’d have to call ineptitude.

Konate has taken the brunt of it. He may never have been a maldini but he has never been this bad, he was great last season him and Bradley was motm v RM so much so they tapped him up ( allegedly) . Along with poor form, lack of fitness being labelled at the players every excuse under the sun but the truth is slot and his coaching is found wanting.

I don't disagree about the name calling but I also don't begrudge insults being used to express people's frustrations. I've not seen tok much (including the examples given by OP) that seem out of line.

I also agree that Slot and the fans on here that continue to support him are hiding behind the players. I just don't buy that the players are responsible for the results and I don't believe the argument that no one could do better with this lot.

To me, you could argue that the team is in transition and that has caused nearly all the players to have poor performances this year, but that just doesn't hold up to the evidence. Most the players came from the prem, ekitike who hasn't has been one of our best performers. Wirtz, who hasn't, has looked good, worked hard, but just hasn't been deployed where he can excell. You could try to argue that VVD and Salah are suddenly too old, but that doesn't explain why Bradley, konate, Gakpo, gravenberch, and even Kerkez have looked so poor also. For me, Occam's razor says the far more likely cause is the poor team selection, constant changes of formation, slow passing tactics, abandoning the press and any intensity to winning back the ball, and the kitchen sink panic subs that are disrupting the team and not playing to our players strengths that have resulted in both the poor individual performances and results. All of that are active choices made by Slot. Because of that assessment, I don't care about the recent results (where we managed not to lose or got points while still looking terrible) as they just paper over the bigger issue that his tactics and management are not suited to the team or the premiere league in my opinion.

So everyone has their opinions, and as the OP has repeatedly stated, they're fine with giving Slot more time because they don't see anyone who can do better with this team. Whereas a lot of people can't imagine anyone doing much worse with the team we have. Time will show who is right, but my concern is that Slot is growing a deep seated rot in out club by damaging the teams fitness and winning mentality, and regardless of the recent results, he now has to go for me, and that can't come soon enough.

Konate wasn't great last season. He's never been great.

23 Dec 2025 00:17:59
He was good enough to win the league. Previous seasons to that he has been In a Team in contention for league and champions league. So yes he has really good then with tactics that suit?

23 Dec 2025 08:01:10
Yeah, blame the tactics, john.
I reckon Slot has been telling him to keep giving goals away.
How does your logic of us winning the League with Konate work with Macca?
You say Konate was 'great' and Macca is 'crap' yet both of them won the League.
