I was never concerned about Wirtz I think he’ll be a great player for Liverpool
But nobody played well last night, it was a very hard watch.

Never doubted the guy, he just needs time to get up to pace with Premiership and his team mates need to get up to speed with his speed of his thinking. He sees things quickly and players around him are yet to fully realise IMO.
At times he can try and do too much dribbling in the wrong places and lose possession putting us under pressure. Hopefully he’s being coached on that front, he’s improving.

I actually think wirtz has been singled out by media for some unfair criticism.
Last night commentary was an absolute joke with neville banging on about how should he play tell him don't be there . go there . don't pass it here. run with it .
He is going to be an absolute silky baller .

Wirtz needs options, energy and runners to play his best football. He does not have that at the moment but he is certainly playing better.
{Ed025's Note - hes played a bit better recently Davey, but lets be honest mate the bar he set in the first dozen games was very very low..

I think people WANT him to be better, but in reality, for all the expectations and the fee attached, it's a very poor return on the investment so far. However, IMO it's a managerial issue that has him as such. Play the man in his best position and leave him there. Play football that suits his style and let him at it.
This is not hard to understand. I'd love to see him rip it up at Anfield and all the other PL grounds but he is totally constrained under Slot, who doesn't do the above and has him all over the place. There's much better to come. I hope!

Shankly, you have to caveat that with the absolute poop show the manager put Wirtz in re: systems and styles. Wirtz plays his best when we play quick, fast movement footie, like we did in the CL vs AM and Frankfurt or even RM. Or in the Brighton game even last week. Had we been playing this way from the off, Wirtz would have been a lot better than he was which wasn't even bad, IMO.
We are playing a dreadful system that should hamper him YET he is still playing well and knitting things together which to me, shows the absolute immense talent and ability to adapt that this kid possesses. So I can put it to you that under the circumstances, he has done very well. The fee doesn't bother me cos he did not pick the fee he was signed for. You want top players? You pay the fee and deal with the rest later.
As for Ed25, I would ignore whatever he says about LFC's players and worry more about how his Everton player punched the ball out of the air to the point that his own manager wants a convo about what was going thru his head when he did that.

If I wanted the opinion of someone who doesn’t watch games or knows what they’re talking about I’d ask my wife.

I don't agree that Wirtz has been pants the first fea games though Ed025. He did need some time to come to terms to the pace and physicality of the league but he still managed some sublime passes in that period and his movement was still very good. If not for poor finishing, I reckon he would have had at least 5 more assists in the league already.
But I agree that his price tag is huge and it comes with expectations that he has not yet managed to meet. I still think he would come good for us though.
{Ed025's Note - i have said that he will come good Drac because he is a quality player, but he did struggle mate there is no getting away from that which was more about the team set up than him individually i would say..
