Liverpool have no leadership in the middle of the park they run around like chickens with no heads. The passing is awful the only one that can pass a ball is Wirtz, the rest are poor. Kirkez is just plain awful, yes he blocked a few shots with last ditch tackles or with his body, but the reason he having to do that is because he is on the wrong side of the player.
VVD is terrible he hasn't got the reaction he once had. their goal was a prime example of Liverpool players leaving it to other people to deal with. Bradley is made of balsa wood, not good enough fitness wise. With Konate, i don't even want to comment on.
Macca - i just don't understand what he is doing. He's not same player as last season. Gravenberch - wow what happened to him is he a one season wonder is that what Bayern Munich seen in him?
These are elite footballers so why are they playing so bad? it has to be coaching and management problem as players don't turn bad after one season and they have had enough time together to sus out each others game in training and matches. The performance when Spurs had 9 men was like watching school kids in the play ground AWFUL, EMBARRASSING, PANIC.

Wow. You'd have thought wr got buggered 3 nil by 9 men.

You are quite right about the no leader in midfield. Every great side has at least one leader in the middle of the park.
Every great Liverpool team has had a leader in the middle of the park, this team has nothing.
They cannot tackle, they cannot win headers or win second balls.
We definitely need a leader in there!

Get off that fence mate and tell us what you really think.

Interestingly, VVD I saw with Konate in a stat board of aerial duels being 1st and 5th respectively, yet we can’t defend set pieces.
I think the stat on passing against Spurs was 89% success rate.
Interesting how the stats show that much difference to what people see.

I think lack of clear message is affecting the players.
I feel they want to play forward and work it through the lines as quick as possible but Slot wants control and slow build up. Players a fighting against their natural instincts and the indecision is affecting performance.
Kerkez cannot play slow. He is naturally high energy.
Despite not being the quickest, Macca thrives in a quick pace battle. Getting on the end of things in the chaos.
Bradley wants to play quick. He s best performances are in high energy games.
Wirtz wants options all over the place and a little bit of chaos to work his magic.
Grav wants to take advantage of high pressing.
Isak and Gakpo want space and quick ball. They get neither with slow build up.

Not sure how kerkez can block shots if he is on wrong side of player. What am I missing?

JK23 having been a fan for longer than your mam and dad have probably been on this earth . I have been lucky enough to see the best of our club from Willie Stevenson through to what have today and none of them today would have got in to the teams i watched. And i do not mean to be rude to your parents or you buddy but todays players would not last five minutes in Shanks and Paisley time .
Yes i ok I know i am old but ask any of grand parents if i am wrong? Aggression then skill
that was how we won trophies .
Merry xmas and happy new year and peace on earth to all. YNWA
Ps 1jj no eyes did not roll but heart is still with Liverpool FC to the end of my days.

I agree, Davey. Every single thing you said. No leadership anywhere on the pitch.

Albey my comment was tongue in cheek on a banter site mate.
Believe it or not I’m quite old myself and my mam and dad are pretty ancient.
22 Dec 2025 03:29:12
@Albey, I’ve been watching since the early 1960’s and the current team can’t be compared to the teams of the past, the game and sports nutrition / psychology and fitness is a world away from wat it was twenty years ago, let alone 60 years ago. The current team would win 9 out of 10 games against Shanks’ best team - they are too fit, too fast and too strong. NOTE: I’m not saying the current team are a better footballing team or better to watch - far from it (imho) but they would be too fit / strong for our favourite sides.
I’ll go and get my flak jacket ?.
22 Dec 2025 11:14:34
They’re definitely fitter but I would argue they are nowhere near stronger. Definitely not harder and the current team would lose every 50/ 50 against the old guard.
The fitness would soon get negated too as the current team cannot keep the ball and would get murdered by the likes of Case, McDermott, Barnes, Rush and Dalglish on the break.
I think man for man it would be a darn sight closer than most people on here think. The old players would also benefit from better boots and a lighter ball. Or are you going to make the modern players use the old kit?
22 Dec 2025 19:15:02
@StE, being ‘hard’ isn’t relevant these days though. Getting stuck in, putting a foot in and the idea dominating a team through physical intimidation has basically died out. The ideal DCM in the PL at the moment is Caicedo, who has a physical presence but doesn’t have the two footed lunge, or late follow through that you would see from the likes of Souey, back in the day, or the likes of Keane or Viera or the likes of anybody who played in Dave Bassett’s Wimbledon football academy., or Revie’s Leeds in the.
60’s / 70’s.
22 Dec 2025 22:34:55
WDW fitness of players gone by to todays i would just say that Liverpool in the 70s played up to 70 games a season league, fa cup, league cup and European cup with a team 12 players plus charity shield and world club cup if we won european cup .
So i think their fitness was comparison to todays players buddy YNWA.
23 Dec 2025 12:51:54
Yep, I think they did play 60-70 games in the 70’s but, in context, they were better than what was in front of them at the time and I’d say that the overall standard in the 70.’s couldn’t live with the current day game.
Like I say it’s not a criticism of the teams in the 60’s and 70’s per se and, if I’m being honest, I preferred watching the games in the 60’s and 70’s, The best footballer I ever saw live - the Belfast Boy - was at his peak in the 60’s.
