So, sounds like Isak has suffered a significant lower leg injury, and will be out for a long time. This has to expedite the signing of Antoine Semenyo in January, surely. There is no way we go into the second half of the season with only Ekitike as a recognised striker, as well as limited options on the wing. I know Semenyo isn't a natural striker, but he has played there before, and offers pace which we lack at times in the offensive areas.
I would count Chiesa as an option, but let's be real, Slot genuinely despises the guy. Hell, when Isak went off injured, the first thing Slot did was bring on Frimpong. Frimpong, who had been injured for the last 2 months, still got in ahead of a fully fit and available Chiesa. That says everything. (To be fair, Frimpong was really good when he came on. But, Slot's treatment of Chiesa has been genuinely baffling. )
I also noticed that, when Isak got injured, Chiesa raced from the sidelines to check on him. They guy is a genuine respectable human being, hard worker, and professional even when things aren't going his way. So, it does sadden me to see his career being curtailed like this.

We could have no strikers and wingers and chiesa still wouldn't get a chance. Feel sorry for the lad.

Hopefully not an ACL.

The times are reporting that it isn’t believed to be the knee.

Isak’s injury is a blessing in disguise. 99% of us were worried about his injury record before we signed him but not our resident specialist Richard Hughes. Proof is in the pudding! And it tastes sour!
As for Chiesa, our motto is YNWA, at the moment it feels like Slot is making Chiesa walk alone. I am done. Haven’t watched a game for months and won’t watch one while Slot is in charge making the same mistake, game after game,
People still backing him to turn this around are fools, he got lucky last season and is now being exposed and has zero answers, no variation in tactics and the most unfit Liverpool squad I have ever seen. Shankly would be mortified.

There's a video on twitter showing his foot facing backwards before pinging back into position.
Even if it isn't his knee, he's going to be out fir months - surely? ?.

Injury is a blessing in disguise?
Can hardly blame Isaks previous injury record for getting creamed by a spurs player.

Always amazes me how clubs continually buy injury prone players. There’s a big difference between passing a medical and playing three matches a week. The medical teams must either over estimate their own abilities or have a bias in how they assess risk of recurrence.
More often than not once players are back in real game situations they break down fairly quickly, and particularly when you’ve got teams playing like Spurs did there’s a fairly high chance of injury.

People on here wanting us to lose, going to paint their rooms rather than watch us and now worst of the worst calling a bad injury to our player a 'blessing in disguise'
Pathetic. Give your heads a wobble.

StEtienneAmen mate, how is an injury to a player esp. one that looked pretty bad, a blessing in disguise? Seriously? I would like to know.
21 Dec 2025 18:45:16
I read it was most likely ankle ligaments and probably 3-8 weeks out subject to further testing. Not great but could have been a lot worse.

Because injury or not, Isak is not the best fit for the first XI. Especially the way we are playing at the moment.
Now Slot has to play Ekitike, who is the form player. Rather than Dolly-dallying about trying to shoehorn the shiny new toy into the side at his expense.
I wouldn’t wish an injury on any player but when you have legs like pepperami it is inevitable.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Ekitike start ahead of Isak against Spurs? Seems like Slot has learnt from shoehorning Isak in from earlier in the season though.
I watched the spurs game again and I thought we started well and came out on top when they went a goal down. But we tired badly for the last 10mins or so and decided to sit back. Our fitness is the real issue.
{Ed001's Note - Isak dropped out because he picked up an injury didn't he? He was still not fully fit and so not ready to start. Impossible to say if Slot learnt a lesson or just had no choice but to start with Palindrome.}

@StE you’re talking out of your backside. Do you really think a serious (looking) injury is a blessing because you don’t think he should be in the starting team? Absolutely incredible.

Isak scored a wonderful goal. Ekitike has been playing every game recently whether isak has been fit or not so Im not sure what your point is. Unfortunately now we only have ektike and he seems to get cramp every game so your blessing in disguise is we only have one fit and available striker? Good one.
